Still my favorite food truck! Food presentation, quality, and quantity is my favorite. I got huaraches this time, because I had no idea what it was. For the Americans, it's like a deluxe tostada. It has a huge fried tortilla bread thing with refried beans (but it looked like cornbeef hash) topped with lettuce, cheese, salsa, and meat. I had no idea how to eat it, so I just ripped it and ate it one small, dainty, messy piece at a time. "If it isn't all over the place, it doesn't belong in your face". I'm definitely ordering that again...but I still have more items to try! Usually with restaurants, I'll find one thing and that's what I'll order, but with this food truck, I'm kind of interested to see what I'm going to get. I love that they add some fresh cucumber slices which is refreshing and helps add to the meal...it's kind of acting like white rice to help balance the flavors. Churro was still good. I liked the caramel...but it's already sugary and cinnamony without. I also wanted to add it was a hot day and I forgot to bring water for my dog, and the cashier gave me a bottle of water and bowl. I appreciated very much (and my dog is too!). I saw some customers parking behind the truck. There's also a parking lot and grassy area that actually belongs to some other property nearby. But there is also a public area if you walk towards the water, where you can sit by the Bayshore trail (not the park with benches - I think that's private property). I'd recommend stopping by on your way to Target/Bridgepoint or 92 East. read more

Tacos were good and fresh. Highly recommended. The shells weren't dry and they were loaded with meat that was flavorful, not fatty. And at $3.50 each that's a good price for the area. It was delicious, and normally when asked spicy vs mild I can never tell the difference, but this actually had a little something. Came with chips and green salsa. On a cold Wednesday afternoon, my partner and I wanted to find a good Mexican spot for some food. I found this taco truck on Google and with such good reviews, I knew it would be worth a try. So, we headed over and they are parked up by a company's office building, which in retrospect it is probably fine to just park in that parking lot for a short time, but scared we had parked across the street. It is a relatively busy wide street so it was a little suspect, but nonetheless we made our way to the truck. We ordered a super burrito with cabeza as well as the carne asada fries. The burrito was absolutely massive and the meat was super tender. The carne asada fries were also in a huge portion and so delicious. The meat was chopped up really small so it was tender and there was this smokeyness in the meat that was so nice. The food here was so good and the owner/operator was a really chill guy. Called in an order unfortunately they didn't have gorditas (main item that caught my attention online). Instead I order 1 taco each of Al Pastor, Carnitas, and Chorizo. Glad I called in since it was a quick pick up after I arrived. They looked amazing and filled with so much meat but as far as flavor I would say 2/3 needed salt to be added. The AlPastor looked like it would be very tasty and well seasoned however once you take your first bite all you tase is the clumped powdered seasonings that didn't distribute well enough across the marinated meat. The carnitas definitely needed more seasoning to it but once you add the salsa it kicks it up a little more. The Chorizo was the only one that tasted as expected and had a nice little crunch behind various pieces which I love. I also ordered the Horchata which was tasty as long as I didn't go too deep into the cup where the sediments had settled. If they do have gorditas down the road I would love to come back and try it out. read more

La Carreta taco truck is LEGIT. It's right off the overpass at Fashion Island (perfect spot!) Easy parking and close to Target for when my wife's shopping. The nearby water makes for a nice walk while you wait. Their food is "hella" good with bold, unique flavors. My go to is the Al pastor burrito (no rice) It's perfect from first bite to the last. I always see this truck while I'm driving around for work and I was always curious but never got around to trying since I generally bring food from home. Today was one those days where I needed to buy food and tacos always make for a great lunch. I got three tacos which was steak, pastor and suadero. The pastor and steak tasted awesome, nice char that gives it a nice smokiness and everyone knows the slight burnt and crispy bits is the best part of any cooked meat and they have plenty of it. The person running the truck gave advice and recommended some different items off the menu which grabbed my attention for my next visit. Tacos are average priced as most places in the Bay Area.
