I'm glad I found Andy's Tacos Jalisco on Yelp. This is a no-frills taco truck that just delivers on expectations. I got the chicken tacos and what made the tacos great for me are: 1. Tortillas tasted fresh and flavorful 2. Meat was juicy and most importantly chopped into smaller pieces than big chunks that most other places do 3. Orange and green salsas pack a heat punch with flavor The carmelized onions on the side had a nice sweet taste. They also give you a small pack of chips with utensils for a to-go order. Loved this place. Don't know why I hesitated to try it. Menu is in Spanish and English. Cashier spoke both. Got the tacos. Delicious. Loved the salsas: an orange one and a green one. Not sure which one, but one of them left my mouth with a pleasant burning sensation (that, don't worry, went away in less than an hour). They also have Vampiros, which seem to be a taco-like thing, served on a flat, crispy tortilla. Delicious. Going to this taco truck was such a pleasant experience, if you see it, stop by. I stopped by last Thursday and ordered at the window: 3 tacos and 1 vampiro taco with both carne asada and al pastor meats. I preferred the tacos between the two, both meats were tasty, toppings were fresh, and salsa had a nice spicy kick. Okay let me just say, OMG!!! This is the best taco place I've been to in awhile and if this is their spot then I will be coming every Sunday we have church around the corner. But I'll definitely be more prepared with more cash because they ONLY take cash. Don't let that stop you though! I dug up about $7.00 and was able to order a $2.00 taco and queso birria for $3.50 and gave the rest of my change for tip. The lady quickly helped me and I got my order. They were out of carne asada for the tacos but I was totally okay with a substitute of pollo asado instead. I ordered their queso Birria taco available saturdays and sunday only. Ordered everything as is with everything. After standing for a bit (hot day) lady offered me a free agua Jamaica which was real sweet of her. Their aguas go for about $1. Very tasty drink just sweeter than what I prefer so no problem! I added more ice when I got home. The food was served quickly and I can say major props for sitting in that metal box making food on such a hot day. When I got home I could not believe all the goodies I got. Opened my box and noticed that they went all out by adding grilled onions and my own personal grilled Chile! They gave me a small bag of chips with two types of salsa. The green salsa was good but that red stuff was spicy fire sauce! So tasty! Add some of that delightful orangey spicy stuff on the taco and or the double wrapped large birria with cheese and just enjoy the deliciousness! I ate absolutely everything. I gotta say lots of places not as good as they used to be especially with good Mexican food but this place? YES!!! This will be my go to spot to order food to go when in san mateo. Definitely recommend and bring some extra money for tip. Ill definitely bringing enough money for a bigger tip I want this place to stay in business!
