Every single item here was purely out of this world! We ordered chapli kabob wrap, chicken kabob wrap, chicken kabob plate, watani fries, and we wanted the mantu but they were out. Every single item was nothing short of amazing, full of flavor, and perfectly served. They do big portions here. They make the fries fresh here and you can taste it. They put alot of tlc into their food which is why it can take a bit. Only thing forgotten yesterday was chutney, and we missed it with every item. We will have to go back and try more again soon. read more

Watani Spot food truck is parked in a large lot in Millbrae/Burlingame. (At time of writing, the Google Maps address was current.) I'd imagine it's popular with Uber drivers since it's close to the airport and SPOILER ALERT: it's effin' delicious. Unfortunately everything we ordered (especially beef) was out of stock, which was surprising since it was only 6pm. We pivoted to a chicken kebab wrap and chaplee kebab with rice instead and waited for the order to cook Both dishes were SO tasty, well-seasoned, and generously filled. Comfort food done right, I really enjoyed the meal. The service was also very friendly and welcoming, with who I think was the owner doing his best to make sure we liked the food. Incredibly juicy chicken kabob! Please eat it while fresh and hot. I had half of my rice plate over there and half at home and it was not as juicy when it was colder, of course! I also like it when it's flavored rice vs plain basmati rice and this had a nice flavor to it. They were also nice to offer me the chicken keema side which was delicious, albeit a bit oily. The plate also comes with bread, as seen in the picture. Couldn't capture the best picture in my car. :( read more

Do you like trying different food? This food truck is one of the most delicious food truck I have ever been to in the Bay Area personally in my opinion the food is different compared to what you eat in the Bay Area. It is very rare in my opinion I met the owner the day. I ordered some food here. I can't remember his name, but he was super kind and helpful. He is a very humble guy. The food tasted so delicious. It was fresh and had a lot of flavor. Honestly, a very different and unique type of meal. I absolutely love it and I highly recommend this place!! he used to be at a Shell gas station but now he is in a parking lot. The portions are so huge here too!! you get your moneys worth over here. I definitely love coming here and will always highly recommend this place and I will always come back. read more

Okay the best kabouli pilau in the peninsula. I come here after every Jummah. The lamb shank size is amazing and it's so tender. Also you get some beans so you are full for the day along with salad. It's the best meal pound for pound in the peninsula. read more

Ordered from grubhub, and the order was ready on time for pickup. The food is pretty good. I got Supreme Watani Wrap which was delicious. Loved it. My wife was also satisfied with Kabuli Pulao. Flavor bomb in your mouth... YES PLEASE! My husband is Afghan so I'm very well acquainted with authentic homemade Afghan food taste and this food truck is amazing especially with their Kabob plates! We got the mixed combo kabob plate and The rice was perfectly seasoned and the meat; OMG! The beef was juicy and so tender and the chicken was no less! The secret chutney sauce is to die for especially with it smothered all over the chicken. Then they had this amazing garbanzo bean stew that's typically topped on the rice and that was absolutely delicious. I wish I would've taken a picture of the plate before we emptied it into our bellies. Portions are very generous and price is excellent. We also got the watani wrap and gee whiz it is a huge sandwich and the flavors mesh oh so perfectly. The wrap can for sure feed 2 people easily. This is my new go to spot! I don't know how this place has less than 5 stars. Their food is beyond amazing, probably the freshest tasting food truck I've been to in a while. Service, always friendly and happy whenever I come by. I've tried Kabuli Palao w/ lamb...meat slides off the bone! Their Chaplee kabob with rice is my go-to. Their fries...fresh! Not your store bought pre-cut chemical GMO etc tasting fries. These are like In-N-Out, fresh lol. They usually have new weekly specials, I look forward to these. Came across this place while getting gas at the Shell station and am SO GLAD I gave it a try. The beef was the standout for me, melts in your mouth and has immense flavor! Whatever they are using for the marinade is working very well. Chicken was just as tasty. I think the side of beans was a standout as well, so don't sleep on this. Large portion of rice cooked perfectly which I could not finish because I was too full. 10/10 would come back. read more

I am the Events director for a student organization at UC Berkeley and had food catered from Watani Spot for our Annual cultural Banquet for 400 people. I cannot reccomend their services enough, it was delievered on time, hot and fresh, There was not a single morsel of food left and numerous people came up to me during the event asking where the food was from because they had never had catered for that was so delicious. The kebobs were seasoned perfectly, the rice was fluffy and the eggplant was so flavorful. I will never stop raving about them! read more

I'm so glad to know there's still people that care about food the way I do. Was staying at Crowne Plaza and wanted just some good fcking food. The food in this area.. well most areas really sucks a$$! So when I found thia food truck I said whyyy not. It wss literally 3 mins away, I ordered the chicken plate ( chicken, rice, salad bread & fries or beans) the guy taking my order had such a gentleness to him.. asked if I wanted beans or fries I got the fries. It was ready in about 10 mins. Got back to the room & EVERYTHING WAS SO GOOD!! Fresh made with love my body knows and just really satisfying. All the flavors paired so well together and it was a great portion for the price! I have enough for lunch tomorrow & I'm thoroughly satisfied!!! Thank you guys so much! Friendly service but 2 stars for the veggie and beef wrap. They were such a disappointment. The beef pieces were tender and tasted like stewed meat but the vinaigarette-like sauce was a little strong. The meat was lacking in flavor and there was a lot of crunchy lettuce in it - I felt like I was eating a beef and lettuce wrap with vinaigrette. Overall, I found the flavors of both wraps to be underwhelming. From the picture on the truck, the veggie wrap looks like it is filled with slices of mozzarella and tomatoes, etc. It looked good so I ordered it.. However, my veggie wrap looked nothing like the picture on the truck. Not even close! Mozzarella isn't in the description so what's that thick white slice of whatever it is? The chicken kabob rice plate is tasty, though. I will stick with that next time. read more

The food here is unbelievably good. The kunjet pulao lamb is perfectly tender, the rice and beans full of flavor. Kabobs are delicious. Really, everything is prepared thoughtfully. The owner is super friendly and clearly passionate about the food he makes. It's all completely fresh which I didn't expect from a food truck. For example, they buy whole potatoes and peel and cut them rather than bringing frozen potatoes. This is the real deal! I can't wait to come back. read more

Fantastic taste & quality. I absolutely love middle eastern cuisine & have had the best & the worst so believe me when I say Watani HITS the "spot." Conveniently located close to SFO (between Milbrae Ave & Broadway in Burlingame, CA on the eastern/water side) so Watani Spot is a great option for anyone on a layover @ SFO. The kabob's are well marinated & grilled to order. I've had the kabobs (along with their rice, hummus & Afghan bread) every time I've been there & they've been perfect every time. I also ordered the special Afghan rice over lamb shank the last time & it was spot-on as well. The rice was flavorful & the lamb shank was "fall off the bone" tender. The owner is always professional & friendly. I'm looking forward to getting some more Watani cuisine the next time I'm in the SF Bay Area. Based on some other reviewers claiming they were overcharged, I paid close attention to the total. In my case, I was not overcharged. The prices listed at the time of my visit were $13.75 for the tostadas de ceviche, $6 each for the shrimp tacos, and $4.50 each for the quesabirria tacos. The tax charged also appeared consistent with the expected 9.25%. Unfortunately, my experience raised some serious food-handling concerns. The first thing that caught my attention happened before I even received my food. I watched the woman who took my order step out of the food truck, walk over to a pickup truck, and retrieve something from the back. I couldn't clearly see what she was getting because she seemed to make an effort to keep it out of my view. She used her apron almost like a bag to cover whatever she had picked up before returning to the food truck. She then looked at me and smirked as she walked back inside. Almost immediately afterward, I heard her and the cook begin preparing the food, including seasoning the birria and shrimp on the grill. I obviously can't say exactly what she retrieved or how it had been stored, but seeing seafood apparently being brought in from the bed of a pickup truck was concerning. Seafood needs to be kept at proper refrigerated temperatures, and from what I could observe, I had no way of knowing whether the product had been properly temperature-controlled. Even if it was in a cooler, I would still have concerns about whether the proper temperature had been maintained. Another issue was the handling of money and food. The same person collecting payment was also preparing the food. When I paid with cash, I could see pieces of cilantro and onion still on her hands while she handled the money. Watching someone go directly from handling cash to preparing food without an apparent handwashing or glove change was disturbing and, at minimum, gave me serious concerns about sanitation. As far as the atmosphere goes, this is a food truck, so expectations should obviously be different from a traditional restaurant. The operating truck is parked on the street, while there appear to be two additional food trucks stationed on an adjacent property. That property appears to be a stationary setup rather than trucks parked along the street. There was also one picnic table with an umbrella where customers could sit and eat, which was a nice option if you want to eat there. Now, despite all of those concerns, I had paid more than $40 for the food, so I ate it, and this is where things get complicated. The ceviche was phenomenal. Honestly, I've never had ceviche this good. The flavors and textures were better than anything similar I've eaten recently. The tostadas had an excellent crunch, and the ratio of ceviche to tortilla was perfect. There was enough topping on each tostada that I could get a little bit of everything in every bite. Based strictly on the ceviche, I would absolutely return. The shrimp tacos, on the other hand, were just okay. They weren't bad, but they weren't particularly memorable either. The bell peppers mixed into the shrimp threw off the flavor balance for me. I think the tacos would be better without them, or at least with less of them. The quesabirria was also just okay. I've had better elsewhere, and I was charged extra for the consommé, which was something to keep in mind. So overall, I have very mixed feelings about this place. The ceviche alone was good enough that I'd want to come back, but the food-handling and sanitation concerns I witnessed would make me think twice. The food itself has some real potential, particularly the ceviche, but I'd like to see more attention paid to food handling, temperature control, and basic sanitation practices before I could feel comfortable recommending the place without reservations.

If someone can't even treat you with respect when you ask questions, doesn't matter how good the food is, it isn't worth giving them your money. If you are an employee - or even not, not sure about the policy for non-employees - there is a cafeteria for employees in the International Terminal just a short walk from this food truck's location. Go there. They have decent food for a good price including my go-to when I want rice. Their loco-moco is decent at a great price. And the Filipino employees are a lot nicer and kinder than that lady working at the food truck.

This place has some of the worst service I've ever experienced. I ordered through the app, came to pick it up, and waited an extra 15 minutes. Then they told me my order was "canceled" because they didn't have the food -- even though the app clearly showed the order as READY. I received no food and no refund. This isn't the first time either. On a previous visit, I ordered ahead and when I arrived they told me they had already given my food to someone else and had nothing left for me.
