It's 4:23pm. BTS concert is supposed to start at 7pm but you just arrived to the hotel, checked-in, and need to quickly fuel up as quickly and as safely as possible (safely meaning: choosing a food that won't give you any digestive issues for the rest of the night). I first drove to Paik's noodles that was recommended by the front desk of my hotel but walked in and got sent away due to them being on break between lunch and dinner. I got in my car and started driving and noticed El Charrito to my right, I immediately parked and rushed inside and ordered two asada tacos and torta asada. Let me just tell you, they were SO GOOD! Located right on the El Camino in San Carlos is this nice little gem. Why in the heck after passing this place about hundred times in my lifetime have I never stopped here? Dropped by randomly, got a regular burrito with carne asada with cheese. Omg. This place does their carne asada different, it has a citrus kick to it and the cheese, chefs kiss, perfection. Dropped in on a whim.. 7:15 on Friday 9/12.. Wow.. delicious chicken nachos. Well seasoned chicken, real guac, sour cream, refried beans, Jack cheese, pico, all atop chips. FRESH CHICKEN!!! Tiny little parking lot is a little cumbersome to maneuver but worth it, the Mexican cuisine is great, fresh and totally satisfying on a Taco Tuesday! I ordered the super taco with chicken, quesadilla with meat (steak) and side of beans (whole pintos). I love pinto beans!! Love them! These beans are great and flavorful. The quesadilla is made different from others I've had in the past, something how they grill it is fantastic! I love it! The cheese is delicious. The super taco with chicken is awesome. Chicken packs great flavor from spices and marinade. The street taco sized corn tortillas holding all the taco goodness together are fantastic! I love a great corn tortilla. Everything is super fresh and made well. As a to-go order, everything was thoughtfully packaged. They added little bag of chips in my order, too. Chips are pretty good, not homemade but good. Lots of salsa here! There's a salsa and chips bar and it's all freshly made. El Charrito has some of the best Mexican food in the Bay Area. As a new resident of San Carlos, I feel so lucky to live nearby and ever since I ordered their Super Burrito via DoorDash, I was hooked. Their red sauce is delicious and their green sauce is unique and really puts their food over the top. I'm happily enjoying working my way through their menu at about one order a week or every 2 weeks but it is such a special treat. Their tortillas are home made and everything so far is so flavorful. Truly recommend their burritos w/ red sauce as well as their cerviche tostada. Even the breakfast burrito is great. So delicious, I come to San Carlos for vacation every year and after driving past this place I decided to try it. Easily my favorite restaurant, the quesabirria was insane and the carne asada and el pastor tacos were crazy flavorful. This taqueria is located on the busy corner of Holly St and El Camino Real. There is a very small parking lot for about 4 cars plus one handicap parking spot. There is a sign at the entrance that says no dogs allowed. Dining is only indoors. Pick up was right on time. Ordered the 2 cheese enchilada combination meal. I was glad to have received chips but disappointed in the chips because it lacked the crispness and seemed stale. The green dipping sauce was just the right amount of spicy with citrus punch. The red dipping sauce is just too spicy for my taste buds. I appreciated the organized meal in the container separating the salad from the beans and enchilada. I liked how the rice shared the enchilada area as the enchilada sauce helped with the flavor of the rice. read more

I moved into the neighborhood a few months ago and live within a couple blocks of El Charrito. I enjoyed the first meal here and have been coming here once a week, usually for a pick up order. Tonight, I went to grab my usual of a super burrito and a horchata. I went home with my order and I have never been served a burrito with so little care. The burrito had burst open but been wrapped in foil anyway. I had to eat this with a spoon which defeats the entire point of a burrito. There was a slight mess on the outside of the foil as well which means they wrapped this thing up knowing it was busted. I guess they were too busy to make another one and clearly they have too many customers because they can afford to lose a loyal customer.
