Outstanding!! This humble place, tucked into a small strip…read moremall is larger than life once the food starts rolling to your table. The servers delight in sharing the absolute joy this kitchen dishes up for every diner in that room. The servers all smile the knowing smile of someone who has seen hundreds of super satisfied customers with even happier bellies. So now to the food. My wife got the pulled pork sandwich and offered me half. I took a bite and gallantly handed it back before my tongue got the message back to the rest of me on just how great that sandwich was - otherwise, I would have likely had a real internal struggle to give any of her dinner back. The barbecue sauce was tangy and warm, the pork, delectable and the coleslaw layer, cool, crisp and punchy. This sandwich was the prince of pulled pork! The French fries it came with took me back 50 years to being a kid and knowing what a French fry was supposed to taste like - real potatoes that someone had peeled fresh, crinkle cut and used fresh oil to fry to perfection. Wow. We ordered a seven piece chicken with a side of fried okra. The chicken was superb. As you bit into it, there was a crack from the batter like a tree branch breaking in two. That batter was cooked to absolute perfection. The chicken itself was cooked nicely and slid right off the bone with no tooth wrestling needed. The okra was nicely fried, but the real treat was how the tang of the okra came shining through like it was being eaten whole - the flavor didnt get lost in a thick batter or too long a fry. We also ordered the St. Louis ribs and man, they were also deee-lishous. Well balanced between sweet and tangy, a super platter with some lovely mac and cheese and collard greens for accompaniment. We tried a few of their specialty lemonade flavors. They were nice, but not the highlight in this menu full of superstars. We all had happy but super full bellies, so the peach cobbler and the banana pudding we took home will need to wait for the morning for them to get evaluated. Given the rest of our experience, I'm not going to lose money betting against this place! I met the owner, a solid honest, look you in the eye type of fellow. You could tell two things about him right away: 1. He's a man who has a great deal of pride to have this restaurant and it's fine food to share with the world. 2. This is not an easy business, but he doesn't mind, because he just knows his food is high art in a soul food world made up of many poimitations. Go give these fine folks a try. I am most sure you will leave just like me - searching for words that just don't exist to describe how good this food really is. Thank you Kinfolk, and like another reviewer said, I will be dreaming of this food until I figure a way back to your shop.

Found this hidden gem while traveling back to south Florida. Small quaint establishment. The food…read morewas good. The service was great. The manager/server was super sweet. Plenty of locals coming in and out. We ordered breakfast. The catfish was seasoned very well. Not a fan of the Cajun sauce for the fish. The grits were cooked just right, not too thick or watery. The Georgia sausage was so good. The added bonus a bakery next door. I don't even like desserts, but they looked so good. The room was decorated beautifully. We ordered a 1/2 dozen cupcakes for Mother's Day. My only complaints are we had ask for a spoon for coffee. She brought me an uncovered stirrer with her hand. We didn't get offered water. We asked for coffee refills and never got them. The bathroom was hot and could have been a little cleaner. The floor was slippery, and didn't smell as clean as the rest of the restaurant. Overall... it was a good experience. I would try them again.

Experience: Being from Louisiana, I'm always looking for good soul food...came here on a Thursday…read moreto get some food to go for me and my grandma. Been wanting to try this place but tend to forget to come by. Facility: this is a small place located in a strip mall. There is booth seating and tables and chairs. There's even a little bar corner that has 3 tall bar seats. Ordering is a little confusing as the counter is not the place you go to... that's only if you are paying. Instead it's over by the buffet serving section. Then you go back to that counter to pay. Service: The lady was polite. She seemed overworked as she is the one taking orders, making food, helping tables, and checking people out. It took about 15 minutes to get my food. Be warned they are only open Wed through Sunday and their hours change most days, but it's like 12-5pm. Food: I ordered two lunch specials ... Chicken leg with Cole slaw and beans for my grandma.... I didn't try the sides, but the chicken looked amazing and a little sauce got on my finger and it was very good. I got the catfish 4.5/5, potato salad 3/5, and some extra sides to check them out... cabbage 4/5, fried okra 5/5 and mac and cheese 3.5/5. We also got mini sweet potato pie 4.5/5 and some peach cobbler (my grandma is saving this for tonight). Overall: This place is good. I will be back to try more things.
