Amazing food. Friendly service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The guacamole and chips are to die for - both the Guac and chips were clearly made to order. So good! Kids and adults both loved them. Tacos were amazing. We had the fish tacos and chicken tacos. Quesadilla was absolutely fantastic. Even the fries that came with the quesadilla were amazing. Waiters were so kind and generous. Definitely would recommend - 10/10. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Family friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Easy parking.

What's better than some Latin cuisine for lunch on a Saturday? Can't think of much. We had the wonderful opportunity of trying out La Casita Del Sabor and delicious surprise. La Casita Del Sabor is located on South Main St. In Middletown in multi-business building ( for those lost, theres's a with a dealership next door). They have off street with their own parking lot so nothing to worry there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When you enter the front doors, there is a giant artificial garden wall directly in front of you with a yellow neon La Casita Del Sabor sign. Turn to the right, and you can head on in. When you walk in to restaurant itself, you are surrounded with generous seating, dark natural wood seating/tables and brown wood plank walls. To me, it gave off an upscale but homey dinindining vibe. Somewhere I'd love to take the wife on a date or make it a full family affair.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Based on the menu, you can dine in or take out breakfast, lunch and dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we came in, it wasnt busy at all and most of the traffic in/out for that time/day was take out for lunch but I'm sure this place is hopping at night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For my visit, I enjoyed this dining experience with my grandma and my sleeping baby. My grandma ordered the Gordita. They offer it with the option of beef, chicken (grilled or crispy), spicy beef, pork or tongue. She opted for the grilled chicken and it came with a side of fries in a cup. She loved it. Thought it was delicious and was pleasantly surprised at how much chicken they added to the sandwich. In fact, she was able to eat just half and take home the other side. I ordered Pollo con Tajadas which has boned fried chicken mixed with cabbage, tomato sauce, pico de gallo across a bed of plantain chips. My meal also had lights out flavor and the portions properly aligned with the price you pay. To complete the experience for me, I also ordered a side of tostones and Tres Leches for dessert. My drink of choice was glass of Mandarin Jarritos. BIG PROPS MOMENT: My side of tostones came out a little late (within reason to me) but the restaurant without me prompting them of an issue gave us a larger portion of the tostones for the extra wait. At that time, we already had food to enjoy so it wasn't a big deal. I wouldn't of complained either way but that really goes to show how much they care of the customer experience. That proactive approach to resolving the issue had to be added in here and well noted. If you are looking to elevate your appetite past just the simple taco or burrito, head over to La Casita Del Sabor for a sitdown lunch or dinner that will awaken your tastebuds. Like said, this is the perfect place for a date or a nice family meal.

My boyfriend and our friends were in the area and needed something for dinner. We found this place on both Google and Yelp. Super happy that we did as it was delicious! We started with pupusas; pork and cheese. Absolutely delicious. For my entree I had Camarones A La Diabla. The spice level was perfection. I believe I had 5 or 6 jumbo shrimp. It was served with a salad, rice, beans, and then a choice of sweet plantains, tostones or French fries. I chose sweet plantains which was delicious. The rice and beans had great flavor as well. I'm normally not a "rice eater" but the rice here had great flavor. My boyfriend had Bandeja Paisa which consisted of grilled steak, rice, beans, eggs, chicharron and sweet plantains. He really enjoyed it. He also got a side of their jalapeño sauce which was delicious and complimented everything well. Our friends really enjoyed their meals as well! One friend got carne asada and I don't remember what our other friend got, but both meals were throughly enjoyed. Service was great as well. We weren't rushed and we were checked on to see if everything was okay. The food was so delicious that we all said we would make the trip back for a day from Long Island just to have lunch or dinner! 5+ stars all the way!

On our second visit things weren't quite as smooth. As an appetizer we ordered chips and guacamole. Ok. Then the server came back- no avocados so no guacamole. Ok how about chips s and queso said the server. Sure we said. Oh sorry no queso. Ordered a garlic chicken mofongo. The mofongo was great. The chicken was ok but the broth the chicken sat in was a salt overload. I do think this place is slightly higher in price so I would hope for better.

Welcomed by the glow of neon lights.

I have never been to the Hartford location, but I am so happy the La Casita has opened in Middletown. My husband and I were lucky enough to be able to have a date night dinner. I'm sure our son would've found something to eat but it's so much easier trying a new place like this on our own. We have both seen shows of restaurants offering Mofongo, and have always wanted to try it. Seeing it on La Casita's 's menu had us excited. My husband ordered a starter of Tostones. To me, they always seem like they're under seasoned. These were done nicely. They were flavorful and not over fried. I ordered the Bistec Encebollado, a steak with peppers and onions, white rice and Mofongo. I normally don't find white rice worth the extra carbs, but something about theirs made it hard not to eat. Maybe it was the combination of the amazing tomato sauce and veggies. The steak was tender and really good with veggies, sauce and rice. My husband had the Shrimp Mofongo and his only complaint was the number of shrimp that was served with the meal (5). The service was great and our server was great about explaining things to us. My only complaint was that there was no tres leches cake that day.

Quick lunch stop at this hidden gem in Middletown. @lacasitadelsabor.ct has some great lunch specials like these pork tacos with rice and beans. And the Pechuga De Pola Asada, Grilled chicken breast served with rice, beans and salad along with sweet plantains. Super tasty

OMG! this place is AMAZING! If you like ethic foods (Mexican, Spanish, Indian) you will LOVE this place! We shared an appetizer (beans & cheese in a soft flour tortilla like bread and a combination steak, pork belly, chorizo, dish with beans and rice and plantains. Just amazing combination of flavors from Puerto Rico! The dining area is small but very comfortable and the staff very friendly and attentive!

So outrageously delicious. I had heard some chatter about this place around town and we figured we would give it a try. We decided to grab some takeout. I had the spicy shrimp dish with rice + beans and sweet plantains. My husband had the jalapeño steak. I'm always hesitant to try places for the first time by getting takeout, because let's face it, traveling with food can sometimes make it not as great as it could be. My husband picked up the food and said everyone was super friendly and the dining area itself looked very welcoming. Guys, this food was unbelievable. I cannot even tell you how incredible it was. The flavors are so authentic and blew both of our minds. We haven't tasted plantains like this since we were in the Caribbean. Those Caribbean flavors are not easily replicated! My shrimp was perfectly cooked and the spice was swell balanced and just popped with flavor. My husband loved his jalapeño steak. Steak is especially tricky with takeout, but the cut of beef they used was perfect and tender. I rarely eat my entire meal, just because I usually get full half way through. I could not stop eating, it was just so good. Thankfully my husband intervened before ate the plastic container it came in. I cannot wait to go back and try more of the menu!

La Casita Del Sabor is a well established restaurant in Hartford. I was verrryyyy excited to see a coming soon sign at a vacant spot right near my house in Middletown. I impatiently awaited their opening, and then ran right in on day 2 to sample some of their food. The space is very nice inside, while I will probably get takeout here on the regular, it's a lovely space for dine in, which we did today. I go to a lot of restaurants within the first few days of opening, and La Casita Del Sabor didn't have any of the growing pains that others tend to have. The food and service were perfect! Presentation of the food was fantastic and even my glass of tap water somehow looked aesthetically pleasing. It's clear they care about the customer experience. We got a sampling of some of the smaller menu items so that we could try several items and meats. First they gave us a free appetizer plate, which was two wings and tacos dorados (filled with chicken). Then we ordered pupusas (bean and cheese and pork and cheese), chicarrons (pork - they also have chicken) with tostones, a spicy beef taco, a chicken Gordita, and sopes with pork (big chunks of tender pork, not shredded). Everything was beautifully plated, and came with an accompanying sauce. Everything was so good, and the portions were large, we couldn't finish it all. My favorites were the bean and cheese pupusa, and the sopes with pork. I could eat them every day! The chicken Gordita and tacos dorados were close behind. But I would recommend anything we ordered today to anyone going in. Someone who came in to get takeout as we were leaving got the carne asada, and said that they didn't know that white rice could taste so good. So that's definitely on the list, and I definitely want to try the garlic shrimp mofongo. It's clearly going to take me a while to work through their menu, with so many amazing choices, but I'm up for this challenge! Welcome to Middletown, it's so nice to have fresh, good quality Latin American food so close to home!! I hope they find much success here and stick around for a long time.

Found one of my favorite restaurants now has a location in Middletown. This is so much closer to home with a great take-out menu. We stopped in on a Sunday night to find a nearly filled room of people definitely enjoying their meals. I opted for the Pork Chop with Mofongo. The plate was filled with awesome flavors. The mofongo which is one my bestest items to order was especially well put together. The pork chop on the other hand was spiced perfectly but the cut of meat was tough and tendony. The rice, salad and onions on the meat all lent a lot to the meal. It was a great platter of food. We started with a guava 'smoothie' and added the sweet plantains on the side. My dining partner had the same but with garlic shrimp instead of pork chop. That will be my order when I return. Service was prompt and efficient.

What a beautiful restaurant! I didn't take pictures but I probably should have! I know they recently had a newspaper story about them recently and between that and a friend's recommendation, we had to try this place. That might be the reason it was busy, but seems like they are going to need more help. Our waitress didn't know what drinks they had in stock and didn't ask if we had questions about the menu. We did have questions but got answers through Googling. She wasn't very attentive either as we had to go up to the counter to pay. Despite that the food was AMAZING! Flavors were fresh and the portions were good sized. I would love to try other menu items next time! It's a bit pricey, but I think that's because everything is going up on price, but it's worth it to go again.

So I was pleased when we had our first lunch at Negrita's today. A little hole in the wall place in New Britain, you can barely see the restaurant name past the huge tree in front of the restaurant. Waking inside, you get the strong feeling that the space used to be occupied by a Subway...same booths and layout. Seating is limited and booths only hold two people so if you're with a group, prepare to split up or take your food elsewhere to eat. Nothing is labeled and there are no menus, just a menu board up on the wall. I was not very adventurous on my first trip, but ordered yellow rice and beans with 1/4 rotisserie chicken. I also ordered one of those fried mashed potato balls with meat inside. No idea what it's called but I've always loved them. Another coworker also ordered the chicken, one got spare ribs, and one just got rice, beans and plantains. I really wish I had gotten some plantains!!!! My food was reasonable at $8.95 for the meal, the mashed potato ball and a bottle of water. I definitely have enough leftover for another meal. The chicken was moist inside but the skin was crispy. Perfect! The yellow rice and beans were fabulous. It's a perfect spot for a quick lunch because you don't have to wait long. I will definitely be back to try some of the other meats and the bacalaitos...curious to see how they compare to my Italian grandmother's codfish fritters that she makes every Christmas!!

At the start of the meal, we asked for sparkling water, and the waitress specifically told the busboy not to bring still water as well. Personally, I think it can actually be nice to have both on the table, but it was not a major issue. For an appetizer, we ordered the octopus, which unfortunately was the low point of the meal. It was extremely chewy, almost difficult to chew, and probably should have been sent back. The scallops for the main course were much better and redeemed the experience considerably. They were cooked properly with a pleasant texture and served over a decent risotto base with a flavorful sauce drizzled on top of the scallops that complemented the dish nicely. For dessert, I had gelato, two scoops of chocolate and one vanilla, and both flavors were excellent. Very rich and one of the better parts of the meal. Service overall was solid. One person in my party did not like being referred to as "dear" by the waitress, though I personally did not mind it. She was nice and seemed to really know the menu well. Overall, this was probably closer to a three-star experience based on this visit because of the disappointing appetizer. I didn't personally try the octopus, but my dining partner said it was amazing, especially paired with the couscous. The eggplant chips were really good. For my main, I had the braised short rib. It was good and very rich and beefy, but I do think it could have used a bit more flavor. I also ordered a wine flight, which I really enjoyed. I got to try the burger as well, and it was delicious.
