Still a peaceful and spunky spot on top of the Japanese market. The service is nice and there is usually not a long wait here. I love how the dishes taste fresh and the flavors are unique. Appreciated the many vegan options. Will be back.

This newer Mexican restaurant is upscale but with a comfortable atmosphere. The margaritas alone are reason to visit (soooo good). Our server Danny was attentive and friendly... and able to have my shrimp dish plated without the heads as described on the menu. He also gifted us a round of lemon drop shots to help us celebrate my 60th birthday. :) I do not recommend the grilled artichoke appetizer, but Danny did take them off the bill so I didn't dock any stars for that. Shrimp was so perfectly cooked I really enjoyed my meal and we had Buffalo shrimp appetizer. I was too busy enjoying myself to remember to question my guests, but I didn't hear any complaints (other than the artichoke).

I really wish Yelp would introduce half star options. With that said I would give this restaurant 3 1/2 stars. The positive. The service was great. Our server constantly made his presence known and continually checked in on us. I ordered a mocktail along with one of my friends and we both enjoyed them. Our other friend ordered some cocktails and was pleased with her decisions as well. Each of us ordered our own appetizers and were very satisfied with our choices. Wish the same could have been said for our main entrees. I ordered a steak dish and my friend ordered salmon. We both asked for them to be prepared medium, and that was not what we received. Both of our dishes were overcooked. Mine to the point, where I had a hard time cutting into it. Overall we enjoyed the night, cocktails/mocktails and ambience. I would go back again to see what else they have to offer.

First time visiting Leon, which recently opened, and we decided to check it out for a girls' night! The setup hasn't changed much from what was previously there, but the atmosphere was lively and busy, with big reservation parties filling the space. Our waiter was fantastic--very attentive--and there was always someone refilling waters, which we appreciated. When we arrived, we were given a little bowl of Esquite, which was absolutely delicious. The cocktails and mocktails were great, and for my main, I ordered the 5-hour Braised Pork Shank. It was so flavorful and delicious, served with beans and 2 corn tortillas. However, 2 tortillas weren't quite enough for the meal, so I asked for 2 more. What they didn't mention was that extra tortillas would cost $3, which we only found out when the bill arrived. Just a heads-up to ask about extra charges beforehand! The apps were beautifully presented, well-seasoned, and tasty. My friends enjoyed the flavor of their dishes but mentioned that the meat and salmon was more well-done than they'd asked for. And the desserts? To die for! A sweet ending to a fun night. Overall, a solid spot to visit, but be mindful of the small details! If there was half of stars I'd give 4.5 . My meal was very excellent.

León which was previously called Birdie Lounge, and before that, was Flora for many, many years. The sign outside said "come on up." After reaching the top step, you are greeted by a mural by Ben Keller. He has created several artworks around Connecticut. The setting is very intimate and upscale. Of course, they are labeling it as an elevated Mexican cuisine. Aesthetically it fits the part. The little details are beautiful! The menu has an abundant set of options as well. I was a little sad they didn't carry Riesling. I was offered Sancerre in its place in a beautiful glass. I tried the crab croquettes where the breading was crunchy, though left an after taste I can't quite catch. The crab itself tastes perfect. I got myself Medio Pollo and I cant forget the buttery flavor and was complimented well by the cilantro-corn jasmine rice. It must've been broth versus water when making this rice. I love it!! Need I say more? Congratulations in opening!!

This review is only based on the takeout. I've never eaten at the restaurant, which looks like a nice space to take in a meal or drink. Everything was packed neatly in plastic containers. The salmon I got was cooked pretty well, but the accompanying sauce was bland and the bed of peppers overwhelmed all flavors. The small bits of corn I found were pretty good, but again, the peppers were just too much. The braised pork shank was seasoned well and cooked until the meat was very tender. Unfortunately, it was too salty for my taste. The same goes for the charro beans and rice: not bad, but too salty. Considering how pricey the dishes were, I expected a better balance of ingredients.

We ate at Léon and were blown away by the fabulous food and cozy ambiance. The dishes are creative, delicious and artfully presented - fabulous cocktails too! And we had great service. Now that we've fallen in love with it, I'm worried it'll close because it's not getting much traffic, so please give it a try. I promise you'll forget that you're across the street from Whole Foods and will be as surprised as we were.

The ambience was so nice dim lit restaurant very big in space different areas where you can sit service was OK. I didn't like my first drink. I never send things back, but I really could not drink it. It tasted like medicine so I mustered up the courage and asked for a different drink And the waiter took it back and didn't charge me which was good. My food was excellent. I love Branzino and it's always hard to find.

This place was really disappointing. I was excited because I've been wanting to try this place out and my husband surprised me with a reservation. I had seen them on social media advertised as "elegant" and it was FAR from it. We were seated at the high tops, and they were very busy because they didn't even have available menus for us. It took a while for a server to come to us which was the trend for the rest of the night. Drinks and food took forever to come. Service was awful super slow, and I even saw the server on his phone chatting with his friends rather than checking on his tables. And both tables next to ours had a similar experience. The food was fine but nothing to rave about. I ordered the vegan fajitas with lettuce wraps. The "lettuce wraps" were tiny peces of lettuce I could only fit a few beans in. and on the menu it was under the Vegan options but the beans had huge pieces of bacon in the them!! thankfully I'm not vegan and just wanted a veggie option but that was very surprising. And on top of that they had false advertising. On their socials and website it said one thing but when I asked the server he brushed me off and was adamant I was wrong. At that point I was over it and just wanted to leave. And of course it took over 15 minutes just for us to get our check. Definitely won't be coming back. Their staff is not properly prepared for a busy service night and need to be better. Won't be coming back.

We returned for Father's Day and we were seated immediately without a reservation, though I think we just got lucky so I don't recommend this. We all shared the warm olives, the croquet poulet sandwich, the fries, the quiche lorraine, the chateubriand, the roasted beets, and the strawberry ice cream. It was all a hit, and when a 3.5-year-old and a 22-month-old are enjoying your food without any coaxing or help, you know it's fabulous! My husband got some cocktail and I got the phony Negroni mocktail. Service was great and the atmosphere is chic without being uptight or snobby at all. We all left really happy. I still dream about that sandwich. I'd love to go back and try other things on the menu. I'm sure they knock everything out of the park. I am hoping Le Mazet will be our special occasion restaurant.

Definitely need a reservation to get in on the weekend fyi! When we arrived we were seated at a beautiful booth. The interior is gorgeous here. Our server was fantastic I wish I remembered his name! He suggested some great items. We started with their steak frites and I cannot rave more about it! First this plate is definitely shareable. Among myself, my husband and young toddler we destroyed this. My daughter was eating so much of this steak and so were we! It was sooo tender and we loved the gravy on top. The fries were amazing and when they were drenched in that gravy it was chefs kiss! What really brought it all the together was the salad paired with it- it was light and refreshing and the dressing was so good! For dessert our server suggested the chocolate custard so we got that and a berry handpie. We ate both and kept saying "oh my god" with each bite. My daughter especially loved the chocolate custard but my husband and I loved both equally! We immediately said after our meal how we have to come back. We cannot wait to try other menu items and their cocktails next time. We are huge fans and will definitely be back!!

(as the kids say) It was crowded despite being early evening. The only available seats were at the bar area near the windows, which was fine because we were determined to experience the "new" place. The textured walls are gorgeous and give the space a style it was definitely missing before. As usual, the happy hour menu never disappoints. The Pomjito is a personal favorite.. refreshing, light, and not too sweet. We also got the oysters and mussels, both solid. The mussel sauce was unique compared to a typical tomato base, which we really appreciated. For my entrée, though, I was disappointed to see that the tuna salad I always order had completely changed. It used to be an arugula salad with Asian flavors and the tuna served on top. Now it It's a Niçoise salad, and the tuna is awkwardly placed on the side. Nothing about the tuna tasted like it did before. I'm usually a sucker for ahi tuna, but this was honestly one of the most disappointing ahi dishes I've ever had. It felt totally incohesive with the salad next to it. I really wish they didn't change the menu so frequently. Once I finally find an entrée I genuinely look forward to, it disappears. That said, we'll still be back for the great happy hour food and solid drinks. Now it's just a matter of finding a menu item I like... and hoping they keep it.

I chose The Laurel based on the great reviews, not knowing much more about this place. Upon arriving, the parking lot was packed. I also had a difficult time getting in when walking from the parking lot, which is behind the restaurant. The issue here (which is my only negative about the entire dining experience) is if I were with a person with disabilities (as I am at times) who doesn't walk fast and we walked to what we "thought" was the entrance, only to find a sign saying to use the front door, but no arrow as to where that is (and keep in mind, I don't know the area, this place, never been here before) and if it were raining - This would have been a horrible way to start the dinner. PLEASE post a sign on the door with an arrow showing which way to go. Also, the door says it's for disable folks, but it's locked. OK - My griping aside... Coming in, I was quickly greeted and seated. The staff here was GREAT! Very engaging and VERY helpful! The menu here is AMAZING! Good thing it's a joint that specializes in small plates and that I was part of a group of three, it gave us the ability to try a bunch of items; seven, in fact and that's not including dessert! The flavors from their vegetarian and vegan dishes were so darn good, you don't miss the meat! Everything was plated beautifully and perfectly! We also placed our entire order (not desserts) all at once and they brought them out as they were made, which worked perfectly with our timing too. They not only have a full bar here, they have a "craft cocktail" quality bar! Upon walking in, one of the first things I noticed was their yellow chartreuse! Of course, next to this was green. So, when I sat down I asked about it, and my server told me how they were able to get this and so I ordered a Last Word, which came out SPOT-ON PERFECT! When it came to the food, some favs of ours - Their Watermelon Crudo - This looked and had the texture of tuna - AMAZING!! The Vegan Empanadas had amazing flavor and texture! I also liked their Stuffed Peppers - The "Samosa Potatoes" in them really hit nicely as well as the sauce on top. Save room for dessert, they have some great options here! We couldn't decide, so the 3 of us ordered 4! We tried their crème Brûlée, their Unbirthday cake, Tres Leches Tiramisu, and their Brûléed Cornbread. The Unbirthday cake was nice - reminded me of what it looks like, Funfetti! But their Brûléed Cornbread was AWESOME! Loved the crispy edges of the cornbread and the entirety of flavors. It wasn't until mid-meal that we really had a talk with our server about the amazingness of the food, the artfulness of it, as well as the attention to detail and creativity of the menu and that's when we learned that the chef here recently won an award for best chef in Connecticut! Well, now it's obvious - Why the parking lot was packed and why everything was so very good! Highly recommend stopping in - but make reservations!
