Cozy spot with a small, off-street parking lot. First timers even though we grew up in the area. 5p on Friday night and only a couple of dine-in patrons and a couple of bar customers. (Yes! They have a full bar) The menu is extensive and very pescatarian-friendly! They even have a "Mexican Sushi" menu! We had the 7-seafood soup & the 3-item combo with a soft fish taco and two enchiladas, 1 fish & 1 shrimp. The combo came with beans, rice, & salad, but there was no challenge giving my rice as a side to hubby. We were served chips and salsa which was decent. My combo was served 1st with a bit of a wait for the soup (which was eventually served with all the trimmings & a gracious thanks for waiting)! Soooo worth the wait! All of the food was so good. Hubby loved loved the soup and the items in my combo were all excellent. Eventually the bar area started to fill, which put some pressure on the wait staff, but she was still pretty attentive and helpful! It's one of those places you feel you need to write a review once you go there. We came here on a whim when another place was closed nearby so we walked in with no expectations. There's lots of seafood options so it is pricier but worth it for me. Had the three shrimp tacos with handmade tortillas and delicious. The cheese flowed and melted and hardened the edges while holding the shrimp inside. I was full after two but kept going for the taste. Service is quick and attentive. It was about half-full when we were there for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. The do take credit card and don't charge a service fee, which is nice. read more

I'm mad this place doesn't have better reviews. Food is good, drinks are strong. Service is hit or miss but I've personally never had an issue. I always get Molcajete Especial, the price is good - it's a TON of food and it taste great. read more

Suprising that they only have 3 stars. From the outside it seems very hole in the wall look with very little parking off A st. However food was actually pretty good. They had a bigger seafood option than most places and our waitress was really attentive. Would definitely come here when craving shrimp plates! read more

worst place to get a burrito, ordered a simple bean and cheese burrito, just beans and cheese I also ordered a pastor burrito, when we picked them up only one was marked on what it was the pastor. when i opened up and bit my bean and cheese burrito to my surprise it was a rice and bean burrito so much rice i couldn't even see any beans. not only was the order wrong but i paid $25 for both burritos. Maybe they have to over charge to make up for the horrible service and food. this place is really bad. this is the second time trying it out and it is the worst. i ordered caldo de pollo , a taco plate and enchiladas cheese and onion btw. wanted to give it a second shot because its in my neighborhood but it sucks. the soup had no flavor at all. and hardly any veggies. there were literally 2 pieces of chicken in the soup . . i ordered 3 tacos plain with nothing on them they messed up so they gave me 3 new tacos when i got home the tacos that were supposed to be the plain ones were exactly like the 1st set they gave me with salsa and onions and cilantro on them after i specifically said nothing on them. i will never come back again. the enchiladas were edible according the person i ordered them for. My son was not able to eat the tacos even after i had picked the stuff off the meat for him due to the chili on them, so annoying . not worth 40 dollars at all. read more

La Casita on Ast is very small, you would assume they acknowledge you once you walk in. They will glance at you but not say a thing unless you ask them what the wait time is. You will have to wait outside in the parking lot because there is no space to stand around. You definitely don't feel welcomed. The food is good, I just wish they would hire friendly people. I wanted to try this place because my father enjoyed it, but he did have a bad experience. After a long day of work, they decided they wanted to have dinner here. I was visiting a friend in unfamiliar territory and we stopped at La Casita. It was busy at 1:30 in the afternoon on a Monday. There were no other Anglos there. We had nice service, and the pork super Burritos were the best that I have had in many years. I think of myself as food knowledgeable, having cooked Mexican food since I got Diane Kennedy's first book in the early 1970s. My niece is studying Mexican cooking at a famous restaurant in Mexico City for 3 months, and I look forward to introducing her to this wonderful place. This evening I am eating the second half of that wonderful burrito. I have tried to copy their wonderful salsa that they serve with warm chips when you order. Mine needs something, dried chipotle, jalapeño in Escabeche, I am not sure. I live on the Peninsula, a little bit of a trek, but will be back. read more

My friend ordered chiles rellenos & i ordered a shrimp cocktail. I didn't ask for her to warm it up so i let that slide but my onion, tomatoes were huge and hardly any cucumber, wtvr i still ate it, my friends food tasted like refrigerator! She ordered an agua horchata that never was brought to her and they tried charging me for it, wasnt going to happen! On top of it all the waiter never checked up on us. With a bit cajoling he agreed to stop for lunch at this charming--almost hole in wall spot rather than drive an hour to get BBQ and then another 1/2 hour home. He said his Steak Ranchero was worthy of 4 stars but the menudo only rated 2 stars, he thought the tripe was cooked perfectly, but the broth had no taste. I will take his word for this. I will not eat tripe or taste anything it is cooked in. My Camarónes Rancheros were good. On the last visit with L I thought I would try the beans if I ever came again, I did and I should have had them left off the plate. Not that they were bad, they just did not change my mind that refried beans are good. The food is well prepared, the restaurant clean and the service is good. You won't get treated with respect at this place especially if you are being served by a female named Margarita. She looks like She's sucked on a rotten lemon.. When my order was actually very simple, two glasses of water and a burrito fantastical with extra shrimp added on top I don't know what was hard about that order, but she made a big deal about it bringing only one water for myself, leaving my guest out as if my guess was invisible And asking me if I wanted my shrimp grilled on top and I said yes the way the shrimp normally comes is how I want it then she tells me I'm confusing her I mean what was I supposed to tell her I want frozen shrimp or boiled shrimp like why was she being so meticulous with me when the order seemed so simple not to mention she is supposed to be assistant manager, you'd think you'd get some decent service..It tells me that he would get no respect or proper service because she feels entitlement as she is the assistant manager it would be a waste of time for anybody to come here is my fair opinion. read more

This is probably the most inconsistent spot I've been to, but since I like this spot quite a bit, I'm gonna give it a 4. The quality of the food can be hit or miss. I've been here and they have messed up a burrito not once, but twice. However, at the same time, this is the only place I'll get nachos from, and they make some amazing hard-shell tacos and the enchiladas are pretty good as well. It seems this restaurant specializes in Mexican seafood but I don't like seafood too much. The service really depends on when you visit as well. Come when it's packed, and yeah the service can be a bit slow. However, come at another time and the service tends to be good. Otherwise, I haven't had a bad experience with the service. The atmosphere of the place is really nice; it's like any other classic Mexican spot, and it really brings together the local community. My feedback would be to reduce the menu items - I think a smaller menu can probably simplify things. read more

Did a delivery to my house, it took a bit long. I only lived by 10 minutes away. By the time it got to me the food was kinda cold. Rice and beans cold but the chicken flautas where still warm. I did order their deep fried ice cream, maybe that was why it was cold because it was on the top of the food when it was being delivered. Overall the food was good. read more

My kid could not eat the chicken nuggets at all. The food is really disgusting. The worst is that "Magda", despite knowing that the food was not good, she did not even helped at all. She could not even said sorry. This place is a mess. There is not manager or supervisor that you could speak with. I can eat whatever food, but today I could not even try.
