My favorite spot in Puerto Nuevo for Lobster! They have all different sizes.... small, medium, large, XL and Jumbo! The jumbo lobster is something you have never seen before! The tortilla soup is amazing, oysters and seafood plate. All the salsas were delicious. I would defiantly recommend this to everyone and I will be back soon. The stair case to the very top deck is a bit crazy! Just stay to the outside and hold on! read more

Went there today use to be our favorite place for lobster but after today I will never go back!! Upon arriving we were greeted like it was a privilege that we were able to eat there we ordered the usual 2 large lobsters with rice and beans, before we could even get the words out the male server stated we only have small lobsters 12:00 pm I said it's ok we will just finish our soft drinks and we'll go somewhere else he then blurted out we have the jumbo for 70$ so I said ok that's fine he came back a few minutes later and said we just sold the 70$ lobster all we have left is the 90$ lobsters which I've had in the past and it's around 4 lbs good for 2 to share. When they served us 2 tails 1 each it was not a jumbo lobster it was a 2 lb large at best. With no ambition to fuss I paid the check and we left. It was like buying a car at the dealership. When you enter the arch's at puerto Nuevo it's the restaurant on the far right and last one on the block!! It used to be called Ortegas back in the day. Hopefully someone can recommend a good place with fresh lobster I don't mind paying but this was ridiculous. I came here last night with a party of 3 for dinner and drinks. This place has a great view when you hit the top deck and the margaritas are great when ordered with Patron Silver. Another plus is they take credit cards here and its not cash only. The service is great and attentive but the food is mediocre which is a real shame since this place would be packed if they got a good chef. My wife and I ordered the Fish Ceviche, the Steak with Lobster tail and a half order of the Quesadilla with Shrimp as the waitress suggested. The quesadilla was overfilled with sharp cheese and the large flour tortilla was undercooked. I am not sure how they could get something so simple so wrong but there it was. I picked out the shrimp to eat. The Steak with half Lobster tail was bad. The steak was overcooked and chewy and tough to the taste. The half lobster tail looked partially dark brown like it hadn't been cleaned properly so only the tail end was edible. My wife ate the ceviche and said the Fish wasnt fresh, chewy, underseasoned and lacked taste. Your best bet is to come here for the margaritas with Patron Silver ($6 a pop) on the top deck with the stunning view and them go elsewhere for dinner. read more

Go! Go just for the lobster if nothing else! I'm a lobster lover and besides a few red ones I've had in Maine and Seattle, Hacienda Ortega's is on my Top 5 list! We ordered seven "medium" lobsters for seven at our table; contemplating if a few of us "serious lobsterettes" should have gone for the "large".(XL was also a choice!) Meanwhile, the service was incredible; friendly and super efficient. The feeling of warmth, happiness and gratitude runith over inside - I absolutely loved the vibe cradling this place. They seated our party upstairs in a huge dining area that was empty only because it was the beginning of lunch and our table overlooked the bay of beautiful Puerto Nuevo. Zack, our server, brought fresh hand made tortillas (a woman was rolling immense tortillas through a machine right upon entry on the main floor) to our table with a fresh round of spirits and soft drinks as soon as they hit half empty...or half full as I like to think. ; ) No one in our party ordered the rice and beans with the plate as we were on our way back to California after a couple days further south in Ensenada and saved our last meal and appetites for some serious lobster eating! Offered two choices on the daily catch; a special lobster from Chilie or local lobsters. We opted for the local. Huge, "medium" lobsters arrived at our table split and steamed. (My personal preference). The lobsters white meat was steamed perfectly perfect and flowed bountiful over the bright red shell. Every single bite was scrumptious and divine; so much so the dipping butter was hardly necessary. Lobster and fresh hand made tortillas - two of my favorite things. This place was outstanding in every way and the food was epic. It's worth even a day trip from Southern California if you want to road trip an hour or so from the border and have a really special although simplistic meal. Fourth time in Puerto Nuevo. Last time we went to the original Ortega's and I was convinced that maybe I just don't like lobster. I've had breakfast here so I thought let's try this out for lobster. Boy was I wrong about lobster. They cooked it just right along with the home made tortillas rice and beans it's a great value. We paid 22.99 for the lobster special medium sized. They have plenty of seating options inside or outside. Pretty view as well. I had the oysters too they were a bit salty. Overall we had a good time and I learned it's how you cook the lobster that will determine if it's good or not!! read more

Puerto nuevo is well known for their fresh and reasonable priced lobster. It's hard to find a good restaurant with all of the options available, but la cueva was a great option. This restaurant has four floors and is taller than most of the restaurants in the area. The view was just great and very worth it. When we arrived they did not have any more small lobsters, so we decided to order a large one for $26 dollars. Honestly, if you are not super hungry this is great for sharing. This dish comes with tortilla soup, a margarita, rice and beans and chips and salsa. The food was very good, the service was great but the best part was their amazing view. Some other restaurants offer a similar dish for $16 dollars for their small lobster. However, this restaurant was great and I will highly recommend it! read more

We heard about the lobster in Puerto Nuevo even before we came to Baja, and we chose this restaurant of the 30 or so options in this small tourist area. Be sure to come early and browse all the vendors. Nothing really different than other collections of tourist stalls, but we found some stuff we liked. The restaurant was great - good looking, and lots of room for large groups. It was night, so the view wasn't important on the upper floors. The food was fantastic. We liked the tortillas (huge - like small delicious ponchos) and cheese - filled bread rolls (I'm sure they have a great Mexican name) so much we came back the next day and bought just them to take with us. The meal started with tortilla soup, which was delicious. The lobster was flavorful - so, so good. Those that got the lobster and carne combos loved the steak too. We ordered some bacon- wrapped mushroom shrimp that were crazy awesome. Overall this was the favorite restaurant of the week for our group. Prices were reasonable. The five of us, no alcohol, cost about $100 total, which was a great deal we thought. Very worth it. We will be back for sure. read more

This place is hit or miss. The service is either really good or really bad. I think this last time we were there is the last time. This was the second time where the staff try's to convince us to spend more money. All 4 of us wanted medium lobsters and we were told that they only had jumbo or small lobsters. She was trying to convince us to buy the 125 dollar lobsters. I don't know if we had dollar signs on our forehead but the whole situation just felt really shady for me. Found this place through Yelp. Decided to check it out while visiting Rosarito . Food was amazing , my boyfriend and I liked it so much we went twice during I'll weekend stay . Easy parking, great service, best view of the ocean (go to the very top deck) and amazing food. Waiter gave us a complementary second round of margaritas and we just felt well taken care of. Great location. The guys out front will let you park right in front and lead you inside. Only fair. They all do it in town. Upstairs are large rooms, lots of view tables. We went there for our first time yesterday and I will say we will definitely be coming back. I was hoping to order and extra large lobster but the day we went they only had small or medium lobsters. I ended up ordering the medium lobster plate perfect for 1 person and it was delicious. Highly recommended this place to anyone going to Puerto Nuevo for the first time. Plus they had the best salsas out of all the places we are that weekend Tip: 1. Sit on the second floor way better view 2. Order the shrimp aguachiles verdes so delicious and not spicy but great flavor 3. Don't share ur lobster its that good make sure everyone gets there own lol read more
