We had a party of nine and enjoyed a lovely birthday lunch. The service is fast and the food is delicious. We absolutely love the live music. I was shocked when we got the bill because the prices are higher here than other spots in the area
It's the original spot and when there's no line, we tend to check it out! Jumbo lobster was enough to share but don't expect cheap prices. Still a good value but $73 seems a little high. You do get an abundance of rice, beans and freshly made tortillas. The guacamole was ok and the broth for the fish stew was delicious. It's loud in a good way. Lots of families breaking bread with the aura of clear butter in every table. Still a must if you are in the area.

The atmosphere was exactly as my wife and I remembered from the past. Plenty of choices here but this is the best option (my opinion)
Came here when I was a child, the lobster is some of the best in Puerto Nuevo, the beans & tortillas are always the best; plus, the staff has great service, I'd recommend this place to anyone interested in making a trip to Puerto Nuevo #1 & the of feeling going back in time as if it were the early 50's.
Came in before the rush. Convenient location in a cute shopping area. Plenty of nearby parking. They take cash and card. We were seated right away. Staff was friendly. They kept up on refills and making sure we had everything we needed. The priced were amazing for the quality food they had. I had heard through word of mouth about this place and their lobsters and it truly did not disappoint. They start you off with chips and salsa. One mild salsa and the other a little spicy. Both were really good! The food came out in a decent amount of time. I tried an assortment of seafood; their fried shrimp, Saucy shrimp, fish, and lobster. The lobster was so good and they provided sauces for the food. The shrimp prepared both ways tasted good, flavorful, and for the fried shrimp- it was crispy. The fish I would say could have had more flavor. But everything else was cooked perfectly. The plates also came with a huge bowl of rice and beans, as well as freshly made tortillas. Bathrooms were also pretty clean so that is nice. By the time we were leaving the restaurant had a line wrapped around the outside. For the price and quality of food, this is definitely a go-to spot
Whenever I'm in the area I come to Puerto Nuevo to eat, I had eaten at most of the restaurants in here, they are all pretty much the same concept, you purchase lobster for a fee and they served it with all you can eat rice, bean, salsa and flour tortillas,& if you are lucky they even throw a margarita for a fee 18-20 dlrs per combo. However I came here and sat down without realizing is under new ownership; the food quality went downhill... the lobsters tails are little! Their lobster deal is $500 pesos ($25), the drinks $60 pesos ($3.00), is way higher than every restaurant around the area, & is not anymore all you can eat on sides, they charge extra per tortilla. The customer service is average. They do take card as payment in my receipt they were gonna charge me $380 including tip, however in my bank account they took $404 to me that's not right. This restaurant is right in the front of Puerto Nuevo, but if you walk around or drive not much (all the restaurants are back to back ) you will find a better deal, all the restaurants have their own parking lot .

They have a few parking spaces but It was busy so most likely you will have to pay to park (most spots are reserved in Puerto Nuevo for each restaurant/vendor. This seemed new as I had never experienced this before but It was also a busy holiday weekend)
Okay, Okay.. I have had my fair share of flour tortillas but this place... What is THE secret! The most delicious melt in your mouth, having you drive down across the border FLOUR tortillas to go with your tasty lobster!! Hands down the best! The delicious lobster speaks for itself, but when it's paired with all the fixings, and the FLOUR tortillas! I'm in heaven! Literally looking at my calendar to see which weekend I can return to feast!
The most popular lobster spot in puerto Nuevo! Not the tastiest though there's some other ones close by that are better. Just my opinion! We paid $153 for the three drinks and lobster prices in this area have definitely increased over the last couple of years. Still a good deal for what you get. See If you can find free parking around the restaurant before you pay $10 to park. They take credit cards and it's good to use that if you don't have pesos.
Over delivered. Puerto Nuevo is known for its lobster and prices and they are not wrong. We went to this restaurant based on its rating and reviews. Starters: Restaurant is dim and not well light. You will see a lot of Americans which made me skeptical because I've had seafood all over Mexico and the local small hole in the wall joints are always the best. Waiters were quick to seat, greet and give us recommendations. Menu has pesos amounts and dollars. Ordered the shrimp ceviche(raw & cooked), fish ceviche, lobster special and shrimp soup. Here's the break down: Shrimp soup: I'm in TJ and I just had just partied hard for the last 3 days straight. I'm dehydrated, tired and could use some life. This soup delivered on all fronts. Base of the shrimp broth was amazing and it compliments well with the tomato base pairing which was very light. There was no types of dairy or cream. Generous with the shrimps and this is extremely simple with herbs, carrots and celery. You can tell the shrimp both has been well prepared for a long period of time. This was a perfect balance and I ordered this again when I came back the next day. Shrimp Ceviche: Tried the cooked and uncooked. The restaurant also gives you a bowl of free limes. I like mine a lot more sour and squeezed two limes over my dish. Shrimp was fresh, no fishy smell, perfect texture with a nice chewiness. One of my top favorite ceviche place because of the clean taste. Fish Ceviche This was MID. Meaning average at best. I prefer my fish more raw but the fish did have excellent flavoring. You can tell the fish has been in line for quite sometime and it's been cooked by that. Very much so the texture because like chicken. Enjoyed it but I recommend the shrimp. Lobster: $29 for 1 1/2 lobster that's cooked to perfection is a hard price to beat. Best lobster I've ever eaten. Saying that because I've been to Puerto Vallarta and many places in the world. The taste was pure and I kid you not I could taste the ocean. Meat came off easily and the seasoning was in perfect balance. It's paired well rice, fresh & steaming hot flour tortillas, beans and butter. One of the best sides was the rice. It was light, flagrant, flaky and moist. Best Mexican rice I've ever had because most ice tried were overly seasoned or dry. Over a must try place! There are many restaurants in the area but I would recommend coming here first. Many shops around it too.

Luckily, we got here in time before the lines started forming. Everyone on the table had lobster so we ordered 8 dishes. Everything is served family style. Lobsters come piled on a plate with bowl of beans and rice. They serve it with melted butter, limes and salsa. It is so good. Depending on how the catch went, you can easily get a very good size medium lobster with chunks of meat inside. They say there are sister location but this is the original so don't be fooled. There is a line for a reason. Just ask for lobsters, Baja style - which comes with rice, beans, hot tortillas and butter. read more

I used to come to Puerto Nuevo when I was younger, and I would always go to the different restaurants. This is the first time I came here. I bought an excursion on Royal Caribbean, and they brought us here to this restaurant. The service is fast friendly, and they have músicos playing while you eat. Beautiful ambience! The lobster was so tender and flavorful, and the homemade flour tortillas are huge! And the rice and beans are so delicious. So delicious! read more

Came here when I was a child, the lobster is some of the best in Puerto Nuevo, the beans & tortillas are always the best; plus, the staff has great service, I'd recommend this place to anyone interested in making a trip to Puerto Nuevo #1 & the of feeling going back in time as if it were the early 50's. read more

Who doesn't love Lobster, shops filled with Mexican souvenirs and the vendors/locals nudging you to either shop at their shops, eat at their restaurants and park so they can watch your vehicle for you hoping to get tips? If you live in California and haven't been here, you live in a rock. Granted the high restrictions & rules increasing over the past 10 years and scary news stories (I won't go there, but came out same time as well). Just make sure you have your real ID & passport/copies and as everywhere you go, be safe. I went during the holidays, so Ofcourse it wasn't as crowded. But still filled with a ton of people though it was raining entire time. Hey, the locals don't hide from raindrops, like we do. It's a small village with lobster restaurants, souvenir shops, a liquor store and a supermarket. The supermarket was not there when I use to come since I was a kid with my parents. And there's more (just a little more) vendors spots selling more souvenir crap. And if the mood moves you, on the beach in front or sides of it are horses, if you want to go horseback riding on the beach. It's an experience. When you eat at anyone of the restaurants, the mariachi/musicians will ask if you want them to play/serenade. Also, if you want braids, I believe there is only one space there that still does it, cheaper than anywhere in the states. When they were younger, I use to have my girls hair done because we were out there every month back in late 90s/early 2000s. For being a small perimeter, you will spend at least a half day there. And if you love to buy random crap, yup the vendors will love you. Selfie friendly too!! Just another spot a little past Rosarito (& as everywhere else in Mexico) to party, indulge in recreational activities, etc., and all & all enjoy yourself. As long as your already informed and responsible. Again, that's said going ANYWHERE in the world. read more

WARNING: Once you come here, or anywhere in Puerto Nuevo for lobster, you'll never look at lobster in the U.S. the same!! lol One day I was at Outback Steakhouse and ordered a filet mignon + lobster tail combo and the amount of meat that was in the lobster was DISRESPECTFUL! To compare, it was like the size of my pinky, while the lobster from here is the size of my forearm LOL So long story short, go to Mexico when you want seafood because we get ripped off in the States!!! lol The lobster is fresh, its very fairly priced, and the hour drive from San Diego is so worth it!! Parking is free, waitstaff are always so friendly, and you get a nice bang for your buck!! I've been twice and have spent around $40 each time for two large halves of lobster, an alcoholic beverage, rice and beans, guacamole, and fresh tortillas! Plus there are shops and vendors around to get some cool souvenirs from! Can't wait to go back and spend a day in Mexico eating delicious lobster and hanging by the beach in Rosarito!! read more

TOURIST TRAP: Low quality food priced higher than the US. No exaggeration: I've never eaten such a bad lobster in my life (and I hope I never do again). Dry, chewy, under seasoned accompanied by a "steak"...a piece of dry, chewy beef thinner than my belt. The shrimp al mojo were also dry and overcook. Somehow they butterflied them and didn't de-vein them... My fish was the only saving grace. It was moist and buttery. The other 3 members of my birthday party also seriously disliked their overpriced dinners. read more

Highly overrated! Friends brought us here for the lobster. We walked straight in and were seated quickly. We were served quickly too, so all food isi already prepared. The carne asada was horrible no flavor such an afterthought. The lobster and the shrimp was bland. The rice and beans were okay. The tortillas were okay too even though they were homemade I don't get the hype. read more

Took the family to Puerto Nuevo for the lobster. Never had a favorite place. Everyone at the restaurants try to draw you in with their specials. "Two halves...three halves...free beer...free margarita...free appetizer." Dizzying. But Puerto Nuevo 1 was the only place with a line. We weren't in a hurry, so we waited in line. We overheard one local in line say this is the only place he eats when he wants lobster. Good enough for us. On a Sunday afternoon, expect a wait. Sat down after 30 minute wait to chips and salsa. Only size lobster available that day was medium for $23. But it includes all the trimmings, including beans rice and fresh giant flour tortillas. Everything is served family style. They must have lobsters on the grill all day because our order came up within 5 minutes. Juicy and perfect with a side of melted butter. The beans and rice were equally delicious. They refilled our beans and rice and fresh tortillas with no extra charge. We ordered two whole lobster dinners, a carne Asada dinner plate for my daughter, a quesadilla (which was made with the same huge flour tortillas), three bottles of coke, two Coronas, and a bottled water. For a grand total of exactly $70. As others noted, cash only. But the quality makes up for the inconvenience. We came for the day with plenty of cash for shopping. Don't let the other restaurants draw you in with false promises. This place is the best! read more

it had been over 10 years since i had been here... it has known to be the place to go on the days the "old lady" is cooking. No clue if she's still around...but she definitely wasn't here on this tuesday afternoon... Puerto Nuevo on the whole was a ghost town...i remember it being bustling with locals and tourists...not today... we were one of 3 groups in the restaurant... most other restaurants were closed or empty like this. i checked Yelp but opted to stick with a place that has never done me wrong in the past... No real complaints about this spot specifically. I've been coming here since I was a little girl and have seen this place through many transitions - from being the best restaurant in Puerto Nuevo to being slightly mediocre and somewhere in between. Needless to say, it holds a sentimental place in my heart, and for that reason I'll always come back. Through the years they have added several items to their menu, but please do yourself a favor, they're known for their lobster, please try it! My most recent visit was on a Saturday morning around opening time ~11am. My husband and I were there for breakfast and ordered two medium lobsters which comes with beans, rice, tortillas, and limes/butter. To my surprise, one of the orders was cold and the lobster was a bit rubbery, probably because it was from the day before. Knowing how amazing the lobster is normally, I gave it a pass, but please try to go after it's been open for at least an hour. I would have sent the food back, but I'm sure they're struggling with lack of tourism in the area. read more
