I really enjoy coming to this place. I usually stop by whenever I visit my brother-in-law in Santa Clarita. Unfortunately, I live about an hour and a half away, so I don't get to visit as often as I'd like. The customer service is excellent, and Daisy, our waitress, always does a fantastic job. The menu has a huge selection for vegans, vegetarians, and meat eaters alike. Came here for lunch with a vegan friend who enjoys this spot. I got the chicken enchiladas with the red sauce on top. Honestly - everything tasted good and it was the perfect portion. Filled me up. Super cute mexican eatery that features a full on vegan page in their menu!! So happy !! I started with an agua fresca made fresh in house. It was fresh and delightful- I saved half for my dessert, very sweet. I ordered the vegan verde with jackfruit. It was really good but way too big! I took almost half home and ate it for lunch the next day (still delicious BTW). It did taste super salty to the point I think maybe there was a mishap especially because my companion's meal was not salty so the contrast was significant. My companion ordered sopes and that plate was good! Service was prompt and courteous. This place was a definitely a pleasant surprise! I'm never really fond of going to Mexican Restaurants as most can taste to Americanized. But this place captured the flavors perfectly! The restaurant is not too big. We had a big group and walked in and they were able to seat us right away during lunch time on a Saturday. Firstly, they have a good menu with plenty of choices. They even had a full vegan menu. I ended up choosing the Pollo en Mole Plate. The rice and beans were one of the best beans and rice I've had in a really long time. The mole's flavor had so much personality. The chicken was good, but my personal preference is too have it off the bone so if you are like me that is your heads up. The size of the plate is good for one. My friends did split a burrito so if you are looking to share I'd go for a burrito. Their guava drink was a also pretty good. The salsa was spicy and bomb! The service was good. To get the food it did take a little bit, but it was worth the wait. All my friends loved their plates too, so I don't think you can go wrong with anything here. read more

We have eaten take out from La Charrita and eaten inside the restaurant, and our experience was lovely both times. The food is very flavorful and the portions are very big. We've had the burrito, flautas, enchiladas, and pozole. Before entering the restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the sign boasts that the restaurant is vegan friendly which made me excited to see what vegan items they have available. Upon entering the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by employee Maria who was friendly, attentive, and very helpful. I loved that the menu as well as employee shirts promotes that the restaurant is vegan friendly. After finding a table to sit at, I appreciated that each table had a bottle of hand sanitizer for customers to use while dining in. While looking at the restaurant menu, I noticed that there was a variety of vegan dishes available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Maria was very helpful in making sure hubby didn't eat any food with nuts and informed us know that the vegan cheese they use is follow your heart brand which is nut free. I was happy to see that there are three pages dedicated to vegan food options and after having time to review the menu, I ordered vegan nachos topped with mushroom asada "meat" and hubby ordered wet "California style" burrito with french fries inside and soy curls as the meat. While waiting for our food, we enjoyed a glass of Jamaica water and an appetizer of tortilla chips with freshly made guacamole. The Jamaica water was pleasant to look at and had an interesting combination of sweet yet slightly bitter taste. It was quite an fascinating drink. The freshly made guacamole was cool, refreshing, and some of the best guacamole I've ever had. I liked that when it comes to vegan meat options, there are five choices: jackfruit, soy curls, cactus, mushrooms, and organic soy with cauliflower. Our food quickly arrived and was hot, perfectly cooked, and delicious.I was impressed by the presentation of my nachos as well as the use of freshly made tortilla chips and the combination of flavors with the beans, mushroom asada, onions, guacamole and sauce. Hubby said his burrito was great. In addition, hubby said that adding fries provided the burrito with next level flavor. Food was very good and fresh. They have an amazing vegan menu along with a regular menu. Service was wonderful. It's a small spot, but with enough comfortable seating for patrons. This place is Awesome!! I have been a vegetarian all my life and have always had to pick things off my plate, order the same old thing or go without at restaurants, but not here!! They have like 6 different vegan-meat choices for their traditional Mexican dishes! I cannot express enough what a big deal that is. We had a fantastic, filling and vegetarian meal for dinner here which left us wanting for nothing. Let's start with the fact that they have a completely separate vegan and vegetarian menu which has the potential to make us vegetarians feel like regular people. Hurrah for that! I had the Agua de Pepino y Limon ti drink - a thick and tasty cucumber lemonade. Yum. And to eat I had the Enchiladas de Mole "Vegano." I'm not vegan so I had them use real cheese on it. I'm also a sucker for a mole sauce and finding a vegetarian one is not so easy. This one fit the bill and it was a hearty plate with the 2 enchiladas (filled with Jack Fruit...can't wait to try the other faux-meats), covered with the mole, and served with their unique beans and rice. I've been wanting to try this place as I've noticed it a few times passing by but every time I wanted to go on my day off they were closed (Mondays). They are open on the weekends though, so I went today about 12:30 pm and there was three people inside waiting for food at a table and no one else. I walked up and ordered three jackfruit tacos a la carte and an horchata to go. The cashier had me wait and in no time at all my food was ready to go. You can also call in and place an order as well, as someone did that as I waited. The jackfruit vegan tacos are marinated with a sauce and served on two small corn tortillas 'street tacos style' and they have me a side of chips as well. These tacos had so much flavor, packed full of jackfruit as well as veggies and made to order. However the horchata I got I wasn't that impressed with. *Vegan Review* I love this place but I have to be honest about how inconsistent they are. I first tried La Charrita back at the end of December 2023, when I first moved out to Santa Clarita. The first thing I got delivered was the vegan chimichangas and omg, they were amazing! But then I tried the beans and rice... The beans looked so pale and tasted like water. The rice was ok but not better than anything I could make myself. So I would rate the main dish a 5/5 but the beans were 1/5 and the rice was a 2/5. Since December 2023 I've eaten there over 15+ times and have dined in at least 6 times. The inside looks very nice and I love the art on the walls. There's a nice vibe for sure. The waitresses have all been nice and I've only had one time where the service was not good, but not terrible either. I've had the meatball soup, sopes, tacos, chimichangas, breakfast burrito, wet burrito, nachos, flautas and more. However every time it seems like the rice and beans are the short coming. I don't understand how they make all the main dishes so good but the basic rice and beans holds them back from getting a 4 or 5 stars. It's like they haven't decided on a recipe for either of them so its a gamble every time if they're gonna be good or not. I can count on 3 fingers how many times the main dish, the rice and the beans were all good. It's either bad beans or bad rice or both are bad, so the main dishes carry the meal hard. If you're gonna eat here try something that doesn't put rice or beans inside of it and I'm sure you're gonna enjoy it. I haven't been back in a couple months but I'll update my review when I try it again to see if they got the beans and rice tasting right. read more

One small scoop of pico de gallo, lots of jalapeños, tasteless guacamole and boiled chicken. With a swirled of chipotle and vegan sour cream. TERRIBLE!!! I couldn't believe that even the rice and beans that came with the quesadilla were old and dry. My kids didn't eat it. They usually leak the plate with the beans and love rice. The only took two bites, they thought it was the worse day ever the quesadilla had barely any chicken or beef.. When I tell you this was the worst food experience we ever had is because it was!! Our bill came the menu said $3 for the chicken or beef they charged us $5 extra each. $18 plates of old food. $59. + tip. $70 total for 3 plates. That we couldn't eat. Came in on a Saturday around noon to have lunch with someone and the parking was pretty empty. There is a small lot next to it which shares its parking. I'm assuming during the week parking might be more difficult to find. Was greeted right at the door and told to sit anywhere we'd like. After sitting we were brought chips and salsa and our drink orders were taken. The menu is definitely Vegan-friendly and there were many vegan options. We however did not get vegan options. They offer a huge variety of dishes including breakfast and seafood. We got the Carne Asada plate and Pollo en Mole with Agua de Jamaica to drink. The food arrived and the plates did NOT disappoint. They looked amazing and tasted just as good. The salsas were very flavorful and spicy (not crazy spicy but definitely not mild like most places). The service was on point and our host/server was very friendly and kept coming back to check up on us. The music playing was traditional Mexican instrumental music like boleros. Ok so this is definitely my new favorite spot off the 5 and will now be an essential pit stop on my next drive to LA. ###Vegan Mexican Options For Days### So many options it was hard to choose. Plus they have specials! The guy behind the counter couldn't be friendlier and was very helpful in navigating their most popular items for me. We settled on three things to share that I can't get at my usual Mexican spot that serves vegan: Flautas, Enchiladas Suizas, and horchata. (So sad, right?!) This is not only one of the best Mexican restaurants in the SCV, it is *the* best vegan restaurant in Santa Clarita. The food is authentic and incredibly delicious EVERY TIME. I've been here several times with friends and family who aren't vegan, but end up enjoying a vegan meal because it's so well made. The service is always fast and friendly, and that includes for takeout as well. My favorites are the sopes, chimichanga, torta, birria, and chili relleno.
