Recommended to us, my wife and I tried them out for dinner. It was overall a nice dinner experience. They are a bit out of our way, and while good, nothing there was so spectacular that I would make a special trip for it, but it was good. They are located in a strip mall location, very non-descript, and the build out is basic but clean. My daughter had described it as a "hole in the wall, but good food" restaurant. That's pretty accurate. We were greeted immediately and in a very friendly manner as soon as we entered. It seemed slow for a Friday night, but we were on the early side. We were seated at a table and brought water, chips and salsa right away. The salsa is thin and spicy, and had a good tasted to it. My wife ordered a Cadillac margarita, and I ordered a regular. The drinks were a generous pour, and they didn't scrimp on the tequila. The Grand Marnier was brought in a shot glass. Both my wife and I enjoyed our drinks. My chile relleno combo was very good, some of the biggest freakin' chiles I've seen. They tasted great and were served piping hot with rice and beans. We were visited several times by ownership. The service was top rate and very friendly. So...not enough for me to return, but that's only because of distance from our house. We have our usual place 3 minutes away, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be a first choice for you. read more

Great food! Some of the best in the area. The service is super attentive and I love that they have big glasses for iced tea. Don't be put off by the exterior, it is worth a visit and you will be back. The interior is basic with booths and tables. Lots of space! I only wish they were open for lunch on weekdays! read more

We ordered the Party Tray for a gathering of 10, and it was a HUGE hit! The variety was perfect--something for everyone. The mini bean & cheese burritos were warm, cheesy, and comforting. The chicken taquitos and chimichangas (cut in half, so plenty to go around) were crispy, golden, and packed with flavor. The chicken was seasoned to perfection, so much great flavor. The potato tacos were a nice surprise--hearty and delicious, they reminded me of my dear mom's tacos The mini hard-shell chicken tacos were super delish and added the perfect crunch. The portions were generous and exactly as described, with plenty of food to feed our group of 10. The tray also came with 8oz each of salsa, guacamole, and sour cream--fresh, flavorful, and the ideal accompaniments. Everything was neatly packed, easy to serve, and displayed beautifully, until we were ready to dig in. If you're hosting a party, family get-together, or office lunch, this Party Tray is a winner. Lorena D's is the perfect spot for some good Mexican food. Service was stellar- smiles from the staff the moment we walked in and we left feeling like we ate with our family. They have something for everyone and Lorena was quick to make me some vegetarian crispy bean tacos that were awesome. Their appetizer/sampler is so good and huge portion for the price. The chips and salsa (ask for the red and the green one) were perfection and my Jamaica Agua Fresca was delicious. I want to come back for their breakfast and happy hour soon! read more

I've been here now 3 times and I will continue to say GREAT FOOD but they are UNDERSTAFFED. It seemed like this time they had an additional server, but still two is not enough for the amount of business they had. At least not on the Friday evening I went. Lots of large parties, and a lot of smaller parties as well. They ended up having someone who didn't seem to typically work there volunteer to help out. So when you come here, expect yummy food, but do not expect to be seated right away, or get your food right away, or to for anything to be extremely quick! PLEASE BE PATIENT. This time I got the chicken tostada and it was pretty good. However I didn't really like the chicken too much it was a little dry, however the shell itself and everything else it came with tasted yummy. Also I recommend getting a margarita specifically a mango one. It was so yummy but also all their MARGARITAS ARE DOUBLES and guess what like $13!!! Some places you pay that much for just a regular! And let me tell you it was STRONG, I was feeling more than tipsy before I left haha. So far this is the only good authentic Mexican food spot I can think of in Canyon Country! I ordered guacamole as an appetizer and was served guacamole that was brown in color, definitely not freshly made. It grossed me out so I couldn't really enjoy the rest of the meal. Was in the Santa Clarita area today, and of course I was craving Mexican food per usual, and found Lorena D's. It had good reviews and photos so it definitely won me over! For my food I ordered the chicken tostada, a la carte cheese enchilada, and since it was happy hour I tried their classic margarita that was only $6.00! The food was pretty decent, the presentation of the tostada was neat and not overwhelming! My drink was really good just enough and a really goof flavor to it! My enchilada was good could have had a bit more flavor but was still satisfying! They also have 3 different salsas, one mild, medium, and spicy. My fav was the spicy green sauce! It had so much flavor and spicy just how I like it ! The service was top notch! Exceptional all the above! I had Kevinn as my server and he was amazing! Attentive! Gave good recommendations, and knew the menu well. The other waitress, who maybe a family to the owners was very amicable, and a very good personality! She was not my waiter and she stayed helping out and making sure I was ok. I definitely would tell ya, to come here for happy hour! That have it from Tues- Thurs from 2-6pm. They have a lot of good food and alcohol options to choose from for reasonable prices. It's a family owned business and very cozy inside with just enough seats. This is hands-down my favorite Mexican restaurant in the SCV. The flavors here are consistently excellent. The carne asada is absolutely fantastic; tender, flavorful, and grilled just right every time. Their salsa verde is my go-to with chips. Even the beans and rice, which are often an afterthought elsewhere, are spot on here. You can tell they put care into every part of the plate. Definitely not the place it use to be at all! I don't come here often but often enough when it was the previous name/owner to compare it to the new owner / name. Yes there is a difference from the very start to the very end. The attitude yes is friendly, but you have to get your game on with everything else. Starting with the chips it seemed downhill from there....the first batch brought out to the table stale and almost a day old tasting...some people don't think chips are a big deal, but in a Mexican restaurant "Yes it matters". Then we waited, and waited, and waited, and waited...it was probably a little over two hours at least before we got our food. Don't get me wrong the waiter was nice and doing his best but it was just beyond his ability to make it better. From what we understood the owner and Daughter were out...whatever! Then we finally get our food, and it was okay. My tostada salad kind of on the bland side but okay. While eating our food, hours hours after being there, this young lady (Maybe the daughter) comes out and is all "I've been in back cooking"...yeah don't BS us kid. You look like you just got dressed not a hair out of place you haven't been cooking because no one in the restaurant got any food for hours. The whole experience was ridiculous. Went with a friend for lunch. Saw all the reviews and had to see if it lived up to hype. Food was great and flavorful. Chips and salsa legit! Chips fresh and homemade. Everything had lots of authentic flavor. The only issue was the portion size. They skimped on the beans and rice. Beans were spread out in a thin layer on the plate to look like a lot but like I said, it was a thin layer! Service was friendly but they need more waiters and or waitresses. Service was lacking. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Santa Clarita! I come here every Thursday night to start my weekend with a skinny margarita and dinner. The skinny tastes like fresh squeezed citrus ‍ -(even better if it's a Cadillac with a Tajin rim). The chips and salsa are perfect -so is the guacamole. Everything here tastes fresh and homemade. Been here at least two or three times. The owner, Lorena, is very nice. The food in general is very good. My only complaint is the zarapes only comes with beef... no option for chicken. They're very honest too. I left my credit card with the receipt and the server came out to my car to hand it back to me.
