The ambiance was amazing the entire time and it just so happens that a live band plays on Friday's. We were a party of 20 and our waitress was OUTSTANDING!!!!! She was patient and attentive to all of us. We ordered a variety of dishes and they were all 10/10 !! For an appetizer I ordered The queso fundido which was cheese and chorizo- it was so delicious. I live in SW Tucson so there are plenty of good Mexican restaurants to choose from without having to go to downtown. My bf and I came here because I wanted to see a bolero band, which was absolutely amazing and set the mood. To be honest I didn't really have a high expectation for their food. Popped in on a recent Saturday evening a little after they opened at 5pm so we had our choice of seating. The décor is fun and inviting and our server was wonderful. Beverages: my guy likes sweeter drinks so he opted for the Pina Colada and it was delicious...and pretty! I had two different mezcalitas. The first was tamarindo and the second was jamaica. DEFINITELY order the jamaica one - so good! We also started with queso fundido and it was delicious. Neither of us cared for the salsa that was served alongside the chips. Entrées: My guy had surf & turf fajitas and asked for no bell peppers but unfortunately it's a mix so they couldn't do anything about that however there were hardly any onions but a ton of bell peppers. I had the chiles divorciados and loved them. Gorgeous presentation and tasty filling. As the restaurant filled, the girl with the tableside guacamole made her rounds. I never saw anyone order it but I'd like to try it next time. Dessert: Churro cheesecake and flan. I'm a lover of flan but was very disappointed in what I received. Giving my experience 3.5 stars. I was here for Cinco de Mayo. We had early reservations at 6pm to beat the dinner rush. Food: we had a variety of tacos (birria, pollo, carne asada, chorizo), queso with chorizo, rice, refried beans, Mexican sodas and classic margaritas. All of the tacos tasted good with a healthy portion of meat! The margaritas were good as well. We had a 2nd round but didn't get it until the end of our meal due to how busy it was. The queso with chorizo was just OK. We liked the flavor but the queso was way too rubbery which we weren't used to eating it that way. Service: great service at the first but then it all went downhill from there and hardly ever saw our server. It was a decent experience & we liked the vibe, but the cost of just tacos was more expensive than other places & easier to get to and find parking so probably wouldn't come back unless I was already downtown for something else. read more

Great atmosphere. Loved the theme and the bright colors. The birria tacos are delicious and the meat has a nice smoky flavor. The green corn tamale is moist and flavorful and comes with a green sauce and that adds a nice tangy and citrus note to it. The chicken enchiladas with mole sauce is my favorite. Mole is super flavorful and the chicken is tender. I've had The La Chingada combo the last few visits. This time I added on rice and beans. Wooooweeee flavorful rice and beans. I am getting a bean burrito next time. The beans were that tasty. I also tried the Jamaica and that had a nice deep flavor with perhaps cinnamon and clove added in. The CHILAQUILES DIVORCIADOS was okay. They didn't taste but definitely not the best or worst I've had. The sauce is definitely more on the dryer and thicker side compared to what I'm usually used to which is the salsa being a little more watery in the sense of not a paste but actual salsa. Everyone enjoyed their food, I will say the chips/salsa and guacamole we ordered were on point. We had wanted to do the table side Guac, but apparently the person that does it was not there which is unfortunate. I am a Chilaquiles expert (self proclaimed of course) and will say that they are flavorful here particularly for a green sauce BUT they were very salty (sauce) and I was disappointed that they do what I call the 'short cut' version of the corn tortillas. Short cut version is where restaurants use chips vs. preparing the corn tortillas by lightly frying or baking so they are a nice combo of soft/cooked. This place is one of my friend's favorite dinner spot so I mostly come here because of her. HOWEVER, I can recommend the 3 things that I do like on the menu - the guacamole (tableside made or not), the camarones street tacos, and their carajillo. Came here for a January birthdays celebrations with the girl gang and everything was great. JACKSON, our server, was 100% accommodating, friendly, and communicative and willing to learn (I ordered something a la carte and he didn't know what that meant and we had a nice little exchange about learning something new). This is the type of spot that you really want to love. Cute and funky decorations and great location downtown. But the wait times are steep - we waited 50 minutes for our meal. Visiting Tucson for a conference and found La Chingada from Yelp! Uses Google Maps to get here via bus & walking. I ordered the coffee & brunch style Sonoran Sopes, over medium egg on top of green salsa and beans on a lightly fried sope. It came with red salsa and refried beans. The refried beans surprised me because they were so smooth, simple, and delicious. The different textures went well with each other which made eating the sope even more enjoyable. My server, Natalie, was very friendly and checked up on me without being intrusive. I asked her what places I should check out while here. I saw on Instagram that they had Loiteria on Monday night so my friend and I went for that. We also got dinner. I had the combo plate with a birria taco, chicken enchilada and beef tamale. Everything was good but wasn't anything special. I got a side of fajita veggies and they were swimming in oil. Loiteria was so fun and the lady hosting it did a great job. The ambiance is fun and festive! There is garage parking but it does cost extra! If not, have to drive around for street parking which can be tough downtown. Last week, met some friends for a birthday celebration and had never been here before.l - its downtown tucked away in Pennington. Had the garbanzo enchiladas, which were good, but loved the drinks! Their prickly pear chingada-rita and the blueberry mojito were delicious and refreshing on a hot night. For birthdays, they do a slice of flan with a sparkler in it and my friends surprised me by asking for it and they give the birthday person a sombrero to wear lol so it was thoroughly embarrassing haha. What can I say? I enjoyed the dish as I ate it. I had two margaritas, a mango and a strawberry one, my husband helped me drink. Sadly, a few hours later, I did have food poisoning. After throwing up I felt better. Let me add that I did walk to and from this location of about .25 miles. Perhaps it was the drinks? Perhaps it was the food? Maybe the combination with the walk. But the food, to be honest, though not bad, isn't worth going out of your way for. I had the enchilada trio; one was cold, two were warm but not hot. I get the impression they were defrosted and nuked and some sauces from jars were poured on top. Service was pleasant, but she did get my side dish wrong and my table mates' drinks, which were incorrectly made, sat on the bar for a good 10 minutes longer than my margarita before they were brought over. We weren't sure it was for our table because the drinks were the wrong color. One last thing: be careful when you get the bill. They added a $9 drink to my bill that I didn't have.
