Stopped in last Friday around 6pm and were promptly seated. The place was busy but that didn't deter our server from providing excellent and attentive service. Cocktails ordered were La Gracie for my guy (he NEVER orders tequila drinks but he actually liked this) - I tasted it and it was refreshing and not too sweet and the Mosaic Mule for me. So delicious with just the right amount of smokiness, that I had two! Chips and salsa during drinks and I absolutely LOVE their salsa! Mini chimis as an appetizer - a mix of chicken and machaca that were stuffed full and fried to perfection. Dinner consisted of the carnitas plate for him and Mole Negro Oaxacaqueño (carnitas) for me. Both were excellent but the mole was divine. Of course a good deal of our appetizers and entrees were packed to go home....so filling! Dessert (we ate a bit and took the rest home) was churros and flan. The flan was so good that I had a hard time leaving it alone when we got home. Creamy, cold with a delicious sauce. First time dining at this restaurant. I ordered the Chile Colorado plate and my husband ordered the Machaca plate. The food itself was good. They really brag about their flour tortillas, but in my opinion they were just okay and lacked flavor. I also ordered the Chiltern Mezcal Pineapple drink, which was very tasty and one of the highlights of the meal. There were a few things that really impacted our experience. I noticed a fly floating in my drink, which was pretty unpleasant. We also ordered a pitcher of beer and it took about 30 minutes to arrive. The waitress asked if we wanted chips and salsa, and of course we said yes -- who doesn't enjoy chips and salsa? The service overall was disappointing. We asked for extra napkins and the waitress seemed bothered and gave us attitude. When the bill arrived, we noticed that a tip had automatically been added. I personally prefer tipping based on the service experience, so I wasn't a fan of that. Another surprise was being charged $3.75 for chips and salsa without being told there would be a charge. I've never been to a restaurant where chips and salsa were offered without mentioning an added fee. Also worth noting: drinks do not come with refills. Haven't been here in awhile but had occasion to join some friends recently and was pleasantly surprised. We were promptly greeted at the door and seated immediately with a smile and a hearty welcome. Teresa's is known for their huevos rancheros which is a dish I love, but decided to go with the grilled fish tacos. It was a good choice, served with a side of calabacitas. I added some of their house made spicy salsa and it was delicious. There is a bar area, main dining area and a private room for groups. No patio, but a nice atmosphere to spend some time with friends. I think this is Mexican food catering to a non Mexican clientele. Not spicy, although you can ask for spicier salsas if desired. Stopped in recently for lunch and had a very pleasant experience. This place is beautiful from the inside out with lots of mosaic details around. Was welcomed in with a smile and quickly sat although they were definitely bustling for lunch. Service was fast and very friendly, everyone had a smile on. We were excited to eat here. Then it turned out to be terrible. The service was subpar but I don't necessarily think it was her fault. She was spread way too thin between too many tables. We ordered the cheese crisp which was strange. They should describe it as a pizza because that's what it was with no sauce. I definitely wouldn't recommend that. A small menudo that barely had 3 pieces of tripe and the hominy was so hard also the broth was more like a sauce. It felt like they should call it stew instead of soup. I def wouldn't recommend that either. And the crispy ground beef tacos LITERALLY had a patty in there. The beef was NOT ground. It was a burger inside a taco the strangest taco I've ever had! Alway's one of my favorite places in Tucson for homemade tortillas and Mole. The food comes out quick but go ahead and pay for the chips and salsa. They are worth it. We always upgrade to a side of Mole. You can't imagine how good the chips and mole are. Or really treat yourself to the Sonoran cheese crisp. Tried it for the first time for dinner with the hubs. Guacamole was a little on the weak side, no kick. Was also surprised that were was no option for a table side/made presentation. Ask for extra diced serrano peppers or jalapeños maybe if you like yours spicy. We each ordered a chimichanga. I got the beef and green chili with the recommendation to have the sauce poured on top. It was good. It also had guacamole and sour cream on top and I got it with a side of rice. The hub got the same thing, non-dairy with the Colorado chiles. They messed up his order with cheese but it didn't take them long to remake it. I had a michelada which was nice and spicy. Overall it was okay. The restaurant is nice, nice decor, a view of the mountains and Walgreens. But I can see that this is what the prices of the menu had paid for. I appreciate that there is a bar so if I wanted to come here for chips, guacamole, and a beer and maybe watch sports, this would be a good option aside from the place catty corner from it. I went here recently for breakfast and it was an incredible experience so I talked my wife into going for lunch. We were actually trying to get a late breakfast but we were seated 15 minutes too late after they stopped serving breakfast. I was shocked they wouldn't try to accommodate us but I get it. We both ordered the Bisteca and it took quite awhile to be delivered. Actually, took way too long-probably 30 minutes. When it arrived, the plate was hot but the steak wasn't. It was very flavorful either which was disappointing too since I talked it up from my prior visit. The homemade tortillas were great but the plate just lacked flavor and it was cold. Stopped here after a great hike in Sweetwater Preserve just ten minutes away. Very generous selection of choices! I ordered the taco salad with shrimp - delicious, fresh, and well presented. Stunning mountainside views, media appearances, and longevity make Teresa's a breakfast spot brimming with local buzz. Lifelong Tucsonans hype it up so hard, so I had to give it a try for myself. If you bring a large group, you absolutely must try to get seated in the enclosed patio. The view itself isn't that majestic (it is not high up enough to feel exclusive, nor does it overlook anything particularly aesthetic), but the abundance of natural light and large windows leave the atmoshphere off the charts. I am also a big fan of their house-made flour tortillas, and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of ingredients in their breakfast burritos, even if they are a bit on the skimpy side. They really try to sell you on their house-made chorizo as well, and I would definitely want to try that on a future visit. You are not limited to Mexican breakfast, either. You can also go with American dishes such as pancakes or French toast. I do wish there was a little more crossover between the menus. For example, a bacon and egg burrito would be nice. They have all the ingredients to make them, but just choose not to because they feel like being different. Service is nice--once you finally get in. If you're looking to have brunch here on the weekend, be prepared to wait a whole hour. I was willing to do that for the privilege of having my first Mosaic experience. And I am curious about more items from their menu, but I am in no rush to try during peak times again. It is decent, but not THAT good. read more

What a nice surprise! Apparently a favorite of the Food Network, this restaurant was rebuilt after a devastating fire about three years ago. It clearly has not slowed them at all! Bring a modern Mexican vibe the restaurant is open, airy and super clean. A local landmark for over 30 years. We came in on a Tuesday night and they were hopping. They had just seated a group of 28 and explained that we have to wait just a few minutes. No problem, we hit the bar and enjoyed one of their house mosaic margaritas - a nice choice, a little on the sweet side, but very refreshing. Moving onto the food, chips and salsa at this restaurant are not complementary but for a few bucks you get a nice helping and some great salsa. Their guacamole is awesome and everything that we tried is super fresh, super authentic and not Americanized as you might find at many restaurants these days. Teresa's Mosaic Cafe is one of the gems in Tucson for Mexican food. I have a good friend who is a menudo snob and she will only have it here and one other place. But truly; you cannot go wrong with any - single - item - on the menu! We came for breakfast/brunch with good friends and we'd been coming for years. I'd been out of the Tucson area so had only heard that this spot burned down but then they remade it. I'm so glad they did!!!! Upon walking in you feel such a clean, cool, feel. The hostess was so pleasant and our server so admirable. I took a recommendation from our server on what to eat, and had the Huevos Rancheros. My friend had menudo as did my partner. And he had huevos divorciados also. If you get a large menudo it comes with the pan. They made chorizo special for my other friend and one ordered a bean burro. The tortillas that came with my huevos were SO GOOD. You can tell they're hechos a mano somewhere, maybe in house, cause they're so darn fresh and DELICIOUS. Mmmmmm. I can't say enough about eating breakfast and brunch here. This has become our family's favorite restaurant lately -- we've eaten here four times in the past month! The food and service have been consistently top-notch. On our most recent visit, we came for lunch on a Saturday around 1pm. There was a short wait for a table, but that was understandable given how busy it was. The restaurant was packed, yet the staff handled everything smoothly. I wouldn't call the service slow -- just a sign of a full house. My wife and I both ordered the prickly pear margaritas, which were refreshing and delicious. All four of us tried different dishes, and everything was beautifully presented and full of flavor. I had the tacos and enchiladas -- both were excellent. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, with great decor and charming details throughout. We also really enjoy the view -- since the restaurant sits up high, you get a beautiful look out over Tucson. Before we left Tucson, hubby was on the hunt for a cute place serving delicious huevos rancheros. We were staying in Oro Valley but were headed to the airport. It was delicious & different. I really loved the red salsa. The Mother was not in the mood for Mexican so she opted for the desayunos americanos #5: 2 eggs served with bacon, home potatoes & toast. Satisfying & a good amount of bacon, potatoes were delicious. Driving by, you can't miss Teresa's Mosaic Cafe! The outside is painted a vibrant turquoise. The indoor decor is charming with colorful mosaics that reflects the Southwest's vibrant culture. Large windows provide stunning views of the surrounding Tucson mountains. Starters, no complimentary chips and salsa. Friday is all day happy hour but when I sat at the bar I was not told about it. After reviewing the high priced menu I asked about HH. I was then given a small paper with a few items on it. For food it was 2 street tacos with a short of tequila or cheese Crisp with 2 margaritas either for $20. I already had ordered a $10 house margarita while deciding what to get. This is just one size. I'm already one margarita in so I figured, " let's do the HH deal". 2 margaritas and a small cheese Crisp for $20. I get the crisp and it is decent. Better than some not as good as El Molintas on Ina. Sadly I had to ask for salsa. Why? It's like ketchup with a hamburger. I'm surprised I wasn't charged for it. I finished eating and pushed my reg margarita glass forward to get my 2nd one. I was apologetically told on the "deal" the glasses were shorter, smaller than reg. So my second drink was 1/2 the size of my 1st drink. WTF? It was still ok but details are important. No big savings here for HH. If you HH shop this is NOT the place to go. Went for an early dinner around 4pm. The place, atmosphere, is beautiful and modern. Tucked away behind a McDonald's. I ordered the Mole Negro Oaxacaqueño and my wife had Carne Con Chile Colorado. I haven't eaten at Theresa's Mosaic Cafe since I lived in Tucson years ago. In fact, it was before I was even on Yelp! While in town recently, me and the family had an opportunity to enjoy breakfast there. First, the dining room felt familiar, but it's been updated and it makes a great impression as soon as you enter the waiting area. We didn't have to wait long and our party of five was seated quickly. The coffee came out almost as quickly, and it was really good! Service was excellent and the dining room was very full of families enjoying some really good food. When I visit a Mexican restaurant for the first time, I look for entrees that not all places serve, such as Mole or Machaca. The Mosaic Cafe offers breakfast enchiladas with Mole. I've never seen that anywhere else! The food was served quickly, even though one dish was trailing the other, but not by much. Had a great breakfast before a hike. I had Huevos Rancheros, my go to order, with chorizo. The sauces were really great and there was a lot for all the dipping you want to do, especially with the tortillas brought to the table. They were really the best thing there, perfectly chewy and fresh, our server was visibly warming and charring them right before bringing them over and they were the best tortillas we had all trip (we had quite a few, believe me). My 10 year old is the one in my family who wasn't as game for foods she isn't "used to" and she was able to get sides of bacon etc that pleased her. Update to pre-pandemic reviews. We have been going to Teresa's Mosaic Cafe and the sister location Mosaic Cafe Dos, for many years prior to the pandemic. We have enjoyed both and our favorite location has shifted over the years. Since the reopening of Teresa's after the fire, we have fallen in love once again with this location. It is up on a small hill looking out at the Catalina Mountains from the westside of Tucson. The ambiance inside is slightly upscale Mexican with beautiful decor, copper accents and bold colors. Everything is clean and updated. The staff are amazing. They are very knowledgeable, friendly, and they get to know you. It makes the fun atmosphere even more enjoyable. The prices are reasonable, particularly for the amount of food you get, and you can find something on a range of budgets. The portion sides are larger, we often bring home food and have leftovers for another meal or two. The food continues to be excellent. Both the corn and flour tortillas are made fresh daily and it is a center attraction in the restaurant. The food leans heavily on Sonoran and Oaxacan styles, meaning mild chili's, tender flavorful meats, beans, and lots of cheese. We have a vegetarian in the group, and they love the vegetarian and vegan options. Everything we have tried we have enjoyed. We also have people who love spice and others who do not, and they can adjust some of the chili levels if you ask. Our favorite dishes are the three enchiladas with a mixture of red and green sauce, the huevos rancheros, huevos divorceados, the super deluxe burro, the mole, cheese crisp, and the carnitas.
