My husband insisted I needed to try these tacos from a food truck he found in Watervliet. They have a full market not far from where we went to the truck so, had it not been out today in the gas station parking lot, we would have gone there. We both ended up getting 2 tacos. I got ground beef, corn tortillas and it was mexican style. My husband got American style steak tacos with flour tortillas. Mine were fantastic. I would 100% order them again. My husband was talking the whole way there how the tacos were the bomb and he wasn't wrong. I want to go to their actual store soon to try their other items. I love Mexican markets, so I feel like I'd really enjoy their market. I'm so glad my hubby brought me here for lunch. read more

i don't usually leave reviews on yelp but this food was soooooo gas and flavorful. i got the taco dinner 2 al pastor 1 steak. steak was good but i wish i got 3 al pastor because it SLAPPED. super juicy and yummy. rice was well seasoned too. my boyfriend and i always look for mexican restaurants with 3 stars because there's always gonna be some white women complaining about the service or ambiance but let's be real these types of restaurants always have the best food. I was very disappointed in the dinner i received last night. I ordered Burrito Sauzo. The meat had no seasoning; it was tough and had like rubbery Grizzel in it. The presentation was awful it looked like a mess. The lettuce and tomato were inside the burrito instead of on the side, so they were soggy and warm. It was almost inedible. Went for lunch and ordered the taco dinner, with steak rice and beans. Tacos were good but not seasoned as well as some I had the day before from them. The meat seemed a bit drier as well. The rice was cooked and seasoned perfectly, refried beans were bland, the red sauce for the tacos was delicious, not too spicy but packed with depth of flavor. Didn't care for the green sauce, too acidic for me. The sauce for the chips was good and the chips were crispy. Ordered 2 chicken tamales as well. One was seasoned well, the other was bland. Not sure if these were two different batches but they did not taste the same. Reasonably priced except the tacos ($3 each). Clean restroom. Good service. More of a take out place than dining in. Only drinks available are bottled drinks. Can get 4 stars if the food is consistently seasoned well, fountain drinks are available and prices for tacos are more in line with restaurants in the area. read more

Yum! I have to be honest when I first walked I wasn't too sure about this place. They were in the middle of renovations and all they had were some tables of groceries in the front of the store and then some refrigerators in the back. But the lady at the cash register welcomed us and asked if we wanted a menu. I ordered the al pastor taco dinner, my husband got a steak and chorizo burrito. If you've never ordered a steak and chorizo burrito you need to try it. Sometimes a chorizo only burrito is too spicy but mixed with steak it's excellent. We also shared an al pastor tostada. They are carry out only but our food was ready in 10 minutes. Everything was very very good. The red sauce they give you I didn't like by it's self but when I poured it on my tostada it was so damn good. It has a slight Smokey flavor to it. The green sauce was good too but spicy! First of all, don't waste time or energy using grub hub to order from here. Spend half hour inputting s large order for six adults and six kids, only to have a phone run around to find out "they weren't open yet" although the hours clearly state they were (12:30pm on a Friday). My card was even charged before the order was cancelled v annoying considering my husband went by and had no problem ordering at la chunks. Brand new taqueria in downtown Watervliet! Though it is clear that they are just getting started, their food is AWESOME! My family and I enjoyed their steak, barbacoa, and chicken tacos today for lunch. They not only taste great, but they are only $1.25 a taco! For a family of 4 our bill was only $15 - CAN'T BEAT THAT! On our way out they offered us mini sizes of their homemade popcicles to try. We all loved the guava! YUM! La Chula is also a small grocery store and it looks like they will soon be selling prepared Mexican favorites for you to bring home to enjoy. Looking forward to seeing La Chula in full swing. I had a really good meal: Burrito Suizo full of very juicy, flavorful steak and covered with excellent melted cheese. Good rice and beans on the side. Excellent chips and salsa to start; the salsa is superb. Ask for a Coke and you get a true bottle of Mexican Coca Cola. Pretty traditional menu with choices of steak, ground beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, chorizo or vegetarian fillings. Tacos made with your choice of corn or flour tortillas. Look forward to trying the torta with roast pork next time. They also offer breakfast items all day, including either red or green Chilaquiles. We stopped in here to try it out. It is one of the places that was suggested by the Arc light Brewery. The atmosphere is a bit strange and layout somewhat confusing. It is a small grocery store as well as restaurant. The waitress helped us get a table and some menus. The service was fine and prompt. I had the Chicken Enchiladas with red sauce, I enjoyed it and it came with salad, beans, and rice. Very large portion and very fresh. My girlfriend enjoyed the Steak Chimichanga very large portion with salad, beans and rice as well. Chips and salsa to start as would be expected. We ordered a side of Guacamole and I loved it very fresh and chunky with tomatoes and onion and a fresh squeezed lime taste that knocked it out of the park. I also got pork tamales they were typical but good none the less. I would definitely recommend trying if your hungry and in Watervliet. read more

This "establishment" is extremely unprofessional. We booked their taco truck for the cocktail section of our event as a light snack and were highly disappointed in their service, ethics, and business practices. To begin with, they did not show up on time. They also failed to follow agreed upon contract and conditions. When trying to discuss why the contract and conditions were not upheld, the owner immediately verbally attacked me with vulgar language and did not allow me to speak, let alone ask questions about why the contract was breeched. We wanted to give this restaurant a chance despite their lack of clientele and run-down building as a form of support to the Watervliet Latino community. However, we were disheartened with the lack of respect and poor professionalism. We had no issues with any of the other vendors that were used for our event, which included a full catering company. Stayed at a nearby hotel & was looking for a non- chain place to grab dinner. What an awesome find! Loved the family atmosphere, the staff was super friendly and happily gave recommendations and everything we had was delicious! An oasis of fantastic Mexican food just off I-94! We randomly picked this exit for dinner on our way back to Chicago. We were so happily surprised with the authentic food, we'll definitely stop in again on our next trip through Michigan.
