New delicious food truck alert!…read more The woman working the truck was extremely helpful and friendly. She got out and came to the front to talk to us about what the items on the menu are and asked what we like to eat and gave us suggestions on where to start when we asked what she recommended we order for our first time at their truck. We ended up ordering Masala dosas(crepe-like with masala filling, not spicy, large serving size), Pav bhaji (if you like spicy I definitely recommend this one, it's like a vegetable curry that comes with toasted buns), and the Mango Lassi(a traditional Indian yogurt smoothie). This was the perfect order size for 2 people to share a dinner or one very hungry person. They have decorated their area in the food truck park with plenty of seating with clean picnic tables and lots of hanging lights and plants. It's a very cozy setting and there are places in the shade to enjoy your food right away. I'm really happy to have a Northern Indian cuisine in Hutto and especially another food truck in the "food truck park" that has mostly been empty all year. I hope they stay and we'll definitely be back to try more of the menu soon!

Hutto keeps surprising me. I did not know there were restaurants of this caliber here…read more The location is charming, with historic buildings that gave me East Coast college town vibes. Just a heads up: there are steps and no visible ramp, so accessibility could be an issue unless there's a back entrance at the same level I did not see. Learned that this used to be a food truck prior to the brick and mortar location. The menu has plenty of panini options (including vegetarian and lighter wraps). We tried the Hello Sunshine (substituted ham for double turkey) and the Chipotle Beef. Food came out hot and fresh. Loved the bread on both. For the Hello Sunshine, it was a good sandwich and I enjoyed it but it didn't stand out in any particular way for me. However, the Chipotle Beef was where it was at. Loved this one, the jalapenos added a nice kick and the chipotle mayo with cheddar really brought it together. Service was warm and friendly. The pricing felt fair for the quality and freshness. They also have pastas which looked pretty good, will try them one day for sure once we have tried the rest of the sandwiches. I'm specifically looking at you chimichurri beef and chicken pesto! 4.5 rounded up.

With so many Texas Monthly Top 50 joints and honorable mentions nearby, it's easy to forget there's a BBQ joint right in your own backyard. BBQ Fiends is a food truck in Hutto that recently received an honorable mention from Texas Monthly, so it immediately moved to the top of my list. On an early Saturday morning, I stopped by Adam Orgain Park for the Catfish Derby. When that wrapped up, I parked at Rockabilly Brewing and was third or fourth in line at BBQ Fiends just before they opened. I think the best way to judge BBQ is by trying the brisket, pork ribs, and whatever sausage includes cheese, jalapeño, or chorizo. Their Texas Trinity plate, priced at $33, covered all three and came with one side. I went with the street corn. DANG. This holds up against some of the best BBQ I've had in Austin. If they keep up this quality, I can easily see them cracking the Top 50 list. The brisket was juicy, just like it should be. The sausage was bold and flavorful without being overly spicy. The ribs had a sweet, candied flavor. They were probably the least strong of the three, but still very good. The street corn was a standout and might be my favorite version I've had anywhere. I really appreciate when BBQ joints lean into their cultural influences, and the Spanish fusion here is excellent. Pairing the food with drinks from Rockabilly made for a perfect afternoon. You really can't ask for much more. I'm already planning to go back. With BBQ this good just minutes from home, there's no reason not to.

I reached out to them ahead of time to let them know we'd have a group ordering meals, and they couldn't have been more accommodating. The owner went above and beyond, personally walking each order to our group one by one, which I truly appreciated-it's a lot of work, and it didn't go unnoticed! The food was phenomenal. Everyone in our group raved about how delicious it was, and even the pickiest eaters (including kids!) cleaned their plates. I ordered the two-meat plate with turkey sausage, rice, and potato salad, and everything was bursting with flavor--no complaints whatsoever. I had a bite of the the tacos and chopped brisket sandwich. They are not shy with the meat and the it was chef's kiss. This BBQ truck is a gem, and we'll definitely be back. Highly recommend them for great food and outstanding service!
