    Chicken Skins cooked to perfection
    Netta K.

We wanted something a little different and was so excited to see this restaurant in Hutto! Walking in we didn't really know what to expect, they do seat you so no worries there! It is an open area with a bar wheb hou wall in! The seats are actually comfortable, I'll get to teh food but yall, the seats!!! It was packed on a Friday night but we hot seated right away! As I was walking to our table I noticed the food on the tables looked amazing. For an appetizer we ordered the chicken skins, just get them i can't say enogh about them! They were cooked to prefection, the seasoning was a great compliment to the chicken! My daughter and I, after asking the guy behind us what he ordered, decided on the garlic noodles with tenderloin. The fresh broccoli was delicious and cooked but still had tge freshness to them. Over all the food is fresh and clean! I cannot wait to try other items off the menu My teenager got the short rubs and rice. I cannot tell you much about them as she was a stingy teen and ate then all without letting me have one! Super rude of her! Over all 10 out of 10 a perfec 5 stars!!

It was a windy and chilly day so I wanted to get some pho for my mom. So happy to have Bites & Basil closer, especially since we love Broth & Basil. It was easy to order online for pick up. The food was ready quick. The restaurant is very bright, white and clean. Lots of seating inside. It wasn't slow at all. There were plenty of people dining in. We ordered the pho phenomenal, beef short rib rice plate and beignet fries. The fries were crispy, everything was flavorful and well done. I'm obsessed with their broth that comes with the rice plate. Definitely a spot we will be coming back to.

I love Broth and Basil so I was excited for the owners to open Bites and Basil in Hutto. I came here for their soft opening and would rate my overall experience 4.5 stars. Note, some of the menu items are more like modern takes of traditional dishes. I saw they had hainan chicken on the menu and had to give it a try especially since I was literally just telling my husband how I was craving it last week. While the dish was delicious, it was not what I had expected. I would say it's more of a hainan chicken inspired dish with a Vietnamese spin rather than a true traditional hainan chicken dish. It didn't have the standard trio of dipping sauces. Instead, they served the dish with elements you would get in a standard Vietnamese rice dish - fish sauce, tomato salad, and clear broth. With that said, I still enjoyed the dish. The chicken came out silky smooth - yumm! The portion size was huge and I was completely stuffed by the end of the meal. My husband is a BBH fanatic so he ordered the oxtail bun bo hue. I was slightly bummed it didn't come with pork blood but know this was supposed to be an oxtail BBH so the contents are different than the traditional version. The oxtail meat itself was soft and flavorful. I think maybe some banana bosom or shredded red cabbage could really elevate this dish. Again, the portion for this was also large and definitely very filling. As for the service, I was really surprised by how attentive the servers were. I was half expecting slower service since it was their soft opening but they really prepared for that by having enough staff on the floor taking orders and checking in with the diners. Two thumbs up from me on that! I would definitely come back again to try their other dishes. So happy there is a solid Vietnamese restaurant in Hutto now.

Anytime there is a new restaurant in Hutto, I am usually there as soon as possible to give it a shot, especially when it is a local business. I was really excited to try Bites & Basil once they opened because it felt like Hutto was missing a high quality Vietnamese restaurant. Bites & Basil is a spin-off of the popular pho noodle bistro Broth & Basil in Pflugerville by Chef Phen T. Diep. It looks very similar to the original, but this location has a full bar with beers on draft and specialty Vietnamese-inspired cocktails with a Texas twist. Today marked their soft launch as they get everything together. As my boss and I walked in, we were seated immediately and told we were their third true customers. Well, like yeah, that is because we are ball knowers. We ordered the pork egg rolls as a starter and they came out almost immediately. They were on point. The egg rolls were crispy with a great shell holding the pork, cabbage, and carrots inside. They had excellent flavor as well. My boss ordered the rare steak pho while I ordered the Vermicelli Phenomenal with both charbroiled pork and chicken. Our main entrees came out very quickly too. We had our meals less than 10 minutes after walking inside, which is thoroughly impressive for a table service restaurant. The Vermicelli had noodles, cucumber, lettuce and spring mix, peanuts, fried onions, and carrots. I added the provided hoisin and sriracha as well. It was a huge portion and even as hungry as I was, I only ate about half and took the rest to go for dinner. It is impressive how good the meal was considering how fast everything came out. I am excited to come back after hours to try their beverage program. The service was excellent and the space is large enough to fit a lot of parties. I also like that there is a full-scale bar. This paired with a movie at Hooky's next door is a great double feature. This is definitely going to make a big splash in Hutto. As the Hutto residents love a good quality restaurant that's fast, of quality, a decent price, and just simply worth a trip to, and Bites & Basil checks all those points making it unPHOgettable. RIYL: Good food, pho real!!!

Best Martini in town!! Honestly the best i've had in texas. I deserve more of these lol! Well balanced, perfectly sweet b/c of the lychee... good grade of vodka used as well. I also got some vegan egg rolls. YUM!! Well seasoned and that crunch on the egg-roll was everything... do y'all make ur soy sauce? I used it on my charbroiled shrimp and it was delish... slightly sweet too. The service as I walked in was very welcoming... sitting at the bar was the perfect choice. It was comfortable... what a wonderful edition to the Hutto food seen...

Hutto has a new gem. Bites and Basil has newly opened and is gracing patrons with delicious Vietnamese dishes with a Texas flair. Everything was fresh and plentiful. Grab a Vietnamese coffee or a frosty beverage to accompany your meal. Happy New Year!

Just ordered the Bun sliders appetizers with pork belly and the Beef Vermicelli. The food was delicious, the place was very clean and welcoming. Staff was nice and the food came out quickly.

So we stopped at a new place that recently opened in Hutto. Hutto is growing and we've had just about every fast food place dropped on us. Bites and Basil looked like a nice place to give a try away from the burger joints. It's very spacious, plenty of tables and bar seating as well. We were sat right away. We were eying some of the dishes on people's tables and it really looked good. I ordered the short ribs with rice and my wife ordered the vermicelli with blackened shrimp. I have to say, the short ribs had so much flavor and everything was so fresh. We shared a couple of bites so I got to taste the shrimp and vermicelli, also really tasty. It looked like family of the owners were at a table next to us, the dishes that they were bringing them all looked so good. The owner came by to thank us for coming in and asked how are meal was. I told him that everything was delicious and we were looking forward to coming back and trying a couple more things off the menu. This is a small business in a prime location, I really hope that they do well. It's nice having authentic cuisine like we had here.

Yumm was craving veggie egg rolls and theirs was so good!!! I'd def get more of these next time. Lots of filling inside and very crispy!

Grilled Pork and Egg Roll Vermicelli

The atmosphere was modern, bright and inviting. Spring rolls were very good, Grilled Pork and egg roll vermicelli was nicely presented and tasty, I could have used a bit more noodles and fish sauce, but with the Spring Rolls I had plenty to eat. Service was attentive, and checked back often. Prices are up everywhere, so while not cheap, it was

The inside was vey inviting and tastefully decorated. We had the Beef Bulgogi Bao, this was really yummy. The bao was soft and delightful. The beef had a sweet bulgogi glaze that worked really well with it. The rest of the toppings added a nice balance without overpowering the meat. My only wish was that it was 4 baos and not two since they are so small. The highlight was the Firecracker Shrimp. Be warned this is not a spicy dish like you might think from the name. The crispy shrimp was crunchy and not soggy at all, it felt pretty clean and not greasy. It came with salad, rice and a spicy soy sauce and it was just so good. With 12 shrimp, it's definitely shareable between 2 people. Lastly we had the Vietnamese iced coffee which was $6. It tasted like Ovaltine and was mostly ice with just a few sips. I wouldn't recommend it unless the cup size is increased or the price is decreased. So overall, it's a bit pricey. The menu was also a little confusing. We checked online prior to coming and they had a lot of stuff but when at the restaurant, there were only a few items listed which caught us off guard. We actually ended up ordering the wrong item (firecracker shrimp when we actually wanted dynamite shrimp, ultimately it worked out cuz it was delicious but the problem still stands). So those are the only cons I can think off. Other than that, The place was fantastic. Did not think Hutto would have a place of this caliber. We will be back to try the rest of the items, it all looked so good. Definitely will be a repeat customer. 4.5 stars rounded up for now.

The bowl itself came loaded with meat--they definitely weren't skimping to save money here. The meat-to-noodle ratio felt great, and every bite actually had substance instead of leaving me fishing around for toppings. As for the broth, I landed somewhere in the middle. It wasn't quite as clear or light as I personally prefer, leaning toward a fattier, milkier undertone that almost reminded me of a Vietnamese pho take on tonkotsu. The flavor itself was undeniably very good, but the richness may have been a bit too much for me personally. One way I usually judge how much I love a pho broth is whether I want to sip the bowl down to the very end, and this one wasn't quite light enough for me to want to do that. I've had richer and deeper pho flavors elsewhere, but I still appreciated the flavor profile here and could absolutely see why this place is so popular. It feels hearty, comforting, and satisfying in a way that clearly resonates with many people. Despite how packed the restaurant was, the atmosphere ended up being surprisingly pleasant. Service moved very quickly, which honestly impressed me given how busy everything felt. Even with the crowd, I didn't dislike the spacing or setup at all--the restaurant still felt comfortable, and the sound of people enjoying their food all around added to the lively, welcoming energy rather than making it feel overwhelming. Overall, Pho Phong Lưu ended up being one of those places where I completely understood the hype, even if it didn't become my personal favorite pho spot. While the broth leaned richer than my preference, I still enjoyed the experience and definitely look forward to trying other dishes next time.
