Best Mexican food in all of the Hickory area! My family and I visit this place to eat more than any other restaurant in the area. The staff is always friendly and will go beyond what is necessary to help you. I didn't know flavors like this existed in the Mexican area, but they are great! I do not wish to post good things about them, just because I want to keep being able to get a table whenever I go there! keep it up! read more

After furniture shopping and unfamiliar with the local cuisine, we found this family owned Mexican food restaurant so gave it a try even though it was way off the main hwy. Glad we did - had the best enchiladas, savory and flavorful. The salsa tasted fresh with separate sauces to spice it up. Hubby had a yummy taco salad, not found on menu, with a delicious grilled steak on it in a large tortilla bowl. Option for salsa based dressing would be a great addition. Wish they had a location in Mooresville, hint hint, but worth the hour drive for us. Give it a try. read more

A great new Mexican restaurant in town (used to be Que Rico). All the food was great, full of flavor, served hot. Really enjoyed the spices and homemade sauces (red and green) as well as salsa. Salsa could have been a little spicier but overall enjoyable. Chicken and steak were spot on! Tender, juicy, flavored. Compared to the other Mexican restaurants, the serving sizes are smaller - and are slightly more expensive. Staff was very attentive, kind and appreciative to us dining. Dining hall is fairly comfortable with a lot of natural lighting. It would be nice to have small, 2 person tables on the patio...add to the ambiance. Overall, we'll be back. read more

Visiting Lake Hickory for vacay and needed to come "to town" for supplies. Wanted something quick but awesome, and this place hit the spot! Delicious and authentic...best margarita I've had in a while. Hubs had enchiladas, medium spicy. He said scrumptious but maybe go mild next time. I had carne asada (hold the tortillas, because the fresh-made salsa was all I needed to please this carnivore. If you live here or are just passing through, I highly recommend. Hubby & I found this hidden jewel while returning from the mountains. Food was authentic & delicious! Service was excellent! We both got Enchiladas Suprema - mine with chicken & his with shredded beef. Both yummy! Best refried beans ever - tasted fresh & no strange flavors like at some Mexican restaurants. Really liked the salsa that they have. It has a taste I've never tasted in any salsa. The rice and beans was also good. I got a steak fajita and wasn't really impressed by it. The steak was thin and a little tough. The main thing is that I would recommend is that they need to offer the combination dinners that you see at other Mexican restaurants. There was a lot of menu items that I had never heard of or seen, which that's Ok but having the combinations of basic Mexican food like taco, enchilada, burrito, tostada, etc. would give more variety and options. Website online is not helpful. When I heard from a friend about the restaurant, I took a look online, I was disappointed to find that there was no "Carta." When I went to the restaurant in person, I was confused to find that they had pupusas, which originated from El Salvador, not Mexico. Despite the misleading title of the restaurant, the food was great, and the service was decent. I enjoyed the meal aside from the fact I was eating a Mexican pupusa. Overall, the restaurant could use a lot of work within marketing, but they are doing a good job with their food. This restaurant could very well draw in tourism to Hickory if they step it up, so I see a solid future for this restaurant. I don't want to seem too much like I am hating on the restaurant for no reason at all, I am suggesting changes that could benefit the company, which I am very hopeful for. Maybe if things go well they could open another two or three locations just in the heart of Hickory! read more
