Burrito San Julian and frijoles con queso pupusas.

North Carolina's best hidden secret for pupusas. The price to quality ratio goes crazy alongside the excellent customer service.

Just had dinner here after reading all the rave reviews. This is not a typical Mexican restaurant. Its Mexican/Salvadorian. Their name means The Yucca, so you will see it fried on the menu. I ordered the ACP and it was just fair. It consisted of thin cut chicken (cooked to much) cheese sauce and rice. That's it. No spices or even any onions. Husband ordered the Carnitas plate and it was pretty big. If you look at my picture I took when they brought it out it was huge chunks of what he said was "way to dried out", and no real seasoning. There is no salsa. More of what they call a sauce. The red bottle tastes like watered down ketchup. The yellow bottle delivered quite the punch with heat. I only gave this place 3 stars, because it had a 100.0 Sanitation Grade and the two ladies who dealt with us were very kind. We thought while visiting this area we would come back again for lunch because the prices were so good, but we will find a other spot tomorrow.

Papusas, Salvadoran meat pie and plantains.

This place is amazing. Great papusas and meat pies. We ordered a variety of things and loved it all. The fried plantains are a great way to end. You will not be disappointed.

Excellent and homey, just like grandmas casita. All the reviews are right - pupusas are fantastic and the fried pies are wonderful. Great stop when you are coming from or going to see the fall colors on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Awesome little place, although it wasn't that little, actually it was pretty big inside. We were on the way to visit family, and pulled up Yelp to find somewhere to stop to eat dinner. This place popped up having good reviews and was right on our way. When we pulled up, I was less than excited. Right off the interstate and wasn't the most glamorous, but we all know not to judge a book by its cover, or a restaurant by its outside... I'm glad that we decided to go ahead and eat there. The waitress was incredibly attentive and very nice. We ordered the steak special and two pupusas. These were a recommendation from another yelper and I'm glad we took their suggestion. They were amazing. Like pancakes with a filling. We got the cheese and pork ones and they were delicious. The Entree was also great as well. In addition to being quite tasty and very fast, it was inexpensive. Entrees are about $10 and each pupusa is $1.5! I wish this was not 300 miles away from home, or else I would definitely be back frequently.

The pupusas are little pockets of heaven and the fish was seasoned and cooked perfectly! Couldn't be happier! The soups looked amazing but I'm not a tripe fan

    ACP outstanding

Pollo ala plancha and everything else we've tried - so yummy! Priced well, cooked perfectly, and best refried beans I've ever had.

Nothing fancy but great food. Had chicken burritos and excellent hot sauce. I would definitely go here again when I'm in town.

We waited for a while, but no one came over or explained where we should sit. Eventually, I went to the register and told the waitress that it was our first time there and asked if we could sit anywhere or if there was a specific process we needed to follow. She acted as though she did not speak English, which made the interaction uncomfortable. However, when I went to pay our bill later, she spoke English very clearly. Throughout our entire visit, she never introduced herself, checked on us, or offered us drink refills. What was especially disappointing was feeling as though we were being treated differently because of our appearance. I am from Brazil, and I know that if someone visits a Brazilian restaurant or business, we would make an effort to welcome and assist them regardless of their background or the language they speak. I can speak some Spanish and understand it when spoken, but I should not be expected to speak Spanish simply because I may look Hispanic. The one positive interaction we had was with the gentleman who brought our food. He was very kind, friendly, and welcoming. Overall, we felt invisible for most of our visit. The food was excellent, and we would recommend it based on the food alone, but the customer service definitely needs to be addressed. Every customer deserves to feel welcomed, respected, and treated equally, regardless of their appearance or language.

From the delightful and freshly prepared Pastelitos to the pupusas, this place has it going on! The flavors are so fuera de serie! The service is so friendly and fast as well. The prices are also very good. It's a cute little plain-ish spot without a lot of decorations, but there's always nice music playing in the background. I also love the fact that the place is owned by a Pastor and his family! They are always so kind and helpful. They have authentic Salvadoran food, which is very difficult to find here.

Point, providing no street visibility, and a rough parking lot! The inside mirrors the outside, worn but clean and with a decent amount of seating - booths and tables, functional if not comfortable! Bibical verses adorn the wall, obviously no fear here of standing up for what you believe in an increasingly secular society - courage should always be acknowledged, IMHO! I ordered the aforementioned Pupusas - 4 Cheese and Pork for $11.50 with Crudito included! These were good, not great, Pupusa - under-seasoned for my tastes (added a Rick Bayless (you must know who he is) measure of salt) and it was were I needed it to be - but still weak! Unfortunately the Crudito was very weak, barely fermented - a great side when done right, not the case here! This was not bad food, but there is better available, even as close as Los Primos, only several miles away! The combination of under-seasoning, lack of pork, and uneven grilling makes this more than a bit off the charts for best of show!
