Main Chick Jammin' Biscuits is a casual eatery serving breakfast and chicken biscuits, as well as other related food options. I was intrigued by this spot as there were lots of good reviews. It is located in Downtown Hickory so there are lots of things to do nearby. There is ample seating inside and outside and I found the service to be very friendly. The ambiance was rather quiet when I arrived on a Friday afternoon. I got the BEC and Fried Green Tomatoes. The BEC was filling! The biscuit was in the shape of a square so it was a bit bigger than usual breakfast biscuits. The bacon, egg, and cheese were not too salty together, but I think I would have liked it to taste a bit saltier. I liked the taste of the Fried Green Tomatoes, but they were lackluster in color... a bit pale and not crunchy, but the sauce it came with added more flavor for sure. Overall, I had higher expectations based on reviews but I would probably come back to try their other biscuits, particularly the chicken biscuits. I think I would rate it a 3.5/5 stars if I could.

It all starts with a friendly service at the cashier station. Fresh made biscuits and everything else make this place one to add to your routine. Tender biscuits, flavorful meats and sauces.

Greeted with a smile, and the full run down of the menu with ingredient sourcing details. The homemade hashbrown cakes are the star here. Don't get me wrong, the biscuits are delicious, but those tater top thingies are We enjoyed the SEC and BEC biscuit sandwiches. Massive biscuits loaded with sausage or bacon and a healthy serving of scrambled egg. This place doesn't skimp on size. We enjoyed the front patio and shaded tables:)

OK this place was awesome! We were rolling through the Hickory area on our way to Asheville, and having not had anything of substance yet, decided to hit up our Main Chick for some brunch love. It was just a few minutes off the interstate and with the help of our GPS, we found it tucked away in downtown Hickory, which they are working to revitalize. Places like this will certainly help! The outside and inside are spacious and modern. The menu is enticing, and laid out in such a way that making a decision is easy, despite the wealth of choices. Obviously, chicken biscuits are their main focus here, so we each got one and split them. We also got a side of the "tater tots" which are really like what a McDonald's hash brown wants to grow up to be, and some warm baked apples, which helped offset some of the rich flavors on the biscuits. Our two biscuits were the "hot chick" and the "thick chick" (digging those names) and the first thing you notice is how substantial these biscuits are. Yes, they are priced like a lunch sandwich, but finishing just one of these made me more full and satisfied than most any standard lunch. The biscuit itself is thick, puffy, buttery, and rich. The chunks of chicken were substantial, filling outside the biscuit in both cases. The breading is more akin to like a chick-fil-a as far as thickness than anything, which I like. The hot chick indeed has a nice heat, but I kicked it up even more from their hot sauce selection. The chow chow and pickles offset the pimento cheese and chicken in a delightful way. The thick chick was VERY rich and filling, I mean, gravy, collards, and bacon? It was decadent. Next time, we might just get some of the apples to share as a side, because that sweetness helped balance the richness of both biscuits. The "tater tots" are wonderful, but everything was so filling. Definitely try them your first time and decide for yourself. We will definitely keep this place on our list for any travel through the area, and locals sure as heck should support it!

Stopped here on the way back from a wedding. The biscuits age cheese and bacon delicious! Not crazy about their grits. Staff is friendly and cute restaurant. I like the idea of ordering at the counter and they bring you your food.

We stopped on by here one Saturday morning for brunch and were not disappointed! Upon entering they have a nice outdoor patio out front with covered umbrellas and 6 or so tables inside with bar seating as well. The staff are great and helpful with anything needed. The line was long and the tables were full as this is definitely the place to be! This gave me time to dissect the menu for the perfect meal. I ended up getting the thick chick which is an extra crispy piece of chicken on house made biscuit with collards, cheddar cheese, bacon and sawmill gravy. And to say that is a mouthful is an understatement as this sandwich was massive! I also had to try the house made biscuit with brisket redeye gravy. This is shredded brisket and coffee gravy almost like au jus. As weird as this sounds it was actually pretty good and a must try for the adventurous type foodie. My wife got the hot chick. This was an extra crispy piece of chicken on house made biscuit with Nashville hot honey, pimento cheese, chow chow, and B&B pickle. This was also very tasty and paired well with the house made tater tots which are hash browns formed into small squares and fried in lard. For the true foodie looking for an amazing breakfast a little different than most, welcome home! This place is a must try!

    Chicken and waffles

The location was so convenient and close to everything. My sister and I visited here on a Saturday morning as we had been wanting to try it. It was very busy and the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. We tried the chicken and waffles and some lattes. All was pretty good, but nothing very memorable. We'd likely try this again when in the area and wanting a quick breakfast. I'd like to try their biscuits next time!

Delicious biscuits - and even yummier tater tots! The tater tots are more like big squares of hashbrowns - simply to die for. Fresh squeezed OJ was good but not $5/cup good. Bacon, egg and cheese biscuits were very tasty. Highly recommend.

    Just the biscuit-

Wow- what a biscuit!!! I wanted to try it all. I got a SEC, Side Chick, and a biscuit w tomato jam and butter, and the hash potatoes. The purity of the biscuit was the best thing that I tried!! Everything was great, but the biscuits are SO perfect it was all that I wanted. The staff are SUPER nice and the eclectics are all there in the ambience. I'll be back tomorrow- lol.

Some of the sides are really good. The overall chicken was a bit dry. Biscuits are pretty decent.

We look for highly rated restaurants, close to the interstate and which have outdoor seating because we have dogs. Bringing water for our dogs and cups to take our sweet tea with us, our server, Kiersten, was the epitome of friendly southern hospitality. The barbecue was delicious. You could see the smoker on the property. What set this apart was the choice of sides. There were several sides such as green bean casserole and creamed corn that you don't see at other barbecue joints. We will definitely be back on our next trip to NC.

Easily the best thing on the table and definitely worth trying. Unfortunately, everything else just didn't live up to it. The BBQ and brisket were a letdown -- lacking flavor, not as tender as expected, and just didn't have that true smoked BBQ quality you look for, especially in a place like Hickory where the standard is high. Service and atmosphere were fine, nothing bad there, but when the main focus is the food, it just didn't deliver the way I hoped it would. Left feeling disappointed and honestly wishing I had gone somewhere else. Might give it another shot down the road, but based on this visit, it didn't live up to the hype for me.

So we decided that we were going to give it a try. After looking at a menu and being approached by the host who gave us a brief introduction to the menu we were in for sure. We asked to sit indoors with it being a windy and somewhat humid day. They have plenty of outdoor seating with umbrellas. We were informed later by our excellent server, Ashlee that there is also seating upstairs! We forgot to take a tour! The decor is very chic, but not overly done. We were seated at a table, but booths are available as well. Even the women's restroom with chic. It needed to be picked up a bit but was nice. Our server Ashlee was excellent! Her upbeat personality and friendliness was in the 10 rating! For only being at the restaurant a couple of weeks I think her vibes will keep bringing customers back. But not only her vibes, the food is very good too! My friends were very happy with their main meal, me as well! I had the Chicken Panini and the companion (side dish) I selected was the Pan Fried Corn. Both very good! We did order shareables too! The Southwest egg rolls and the Charcuterie Board. We were very happy with both! I would definitely order them again. I ordered two alcoholic drinks. My first drink was called the Bees Knees (ginger, honey, lemon bourbon) and an Espresso Martini. Both were good. The ginger was very mild in the Bees Knees. We were quite full so we were not able to enjoy our desserts at the restaurant but did order them to go. We ordered the Crème Brûlée and Key Lime Cheesecakes to go. I enjoyed the Key Lime, a good balance of sweet and tart. A little perfumme for me but still good. The feedback on the Crème Brûlée, was ok. I didn't try it. When I visit this area again, I would surely come back here and try some other items on the menu. Parking in this area can be quite busy, especially on the weekends. We came during the weekday in July after 1pm. We had to circle a few times before we got a parking spot. Come early!

When I went to use the bathroom about an hour later, they had heavily perfumed the restuarant.

The littered parking lot and dirty front door should have told me to not walk in. But, I thought maybe I was being too "judgy" and plucked up my courage. Since They billed themselves as Asian fusion, I was hoping to see some unique Thai, Korean Japanese, etc offerings. I asked the gal at the front counter for suggestions and she recommended French fries. Fries are your best dish?!? She couldn't answer any of my questions about the rest of the menu. Strike 1. A phone call came in while we were discussing the menu and she took it. While she was on the phone, I noticed all the upcharge signs. A 4% charge for using a credit card. A charge if you want a chili oil. A charge if you wanted a cup of water. A charge saying all sauces are extra. Strike 2. I finally settled on one of their "Fan Favorites" - a pork ramen bowl. Paid (no, I'm not tipping you for taking my order) and sat down. The tables all looked really dirty. But I couldn't tell if it was dirt or rust. I sat down and immediately noticed dozens of dead bugs in the dust on the windowsill. They were on the floor, too. And they were flying all over the place trying to get out of the windows. Maybe I should have followed their instincts and tried to get out too. Strike 3. I picked up my dish when the buzzer rang (Seriously, WHY are you asking for tips?). First impressions were that it looked really bland. Basically a bunch of wet noodles and a half of an egg and some sketchy looking meat rolls. I dove in and it was just pure salt. No other flavors. Salty AF. Tried the meat. It was supposed to be "fatty pork" and it didn't disappoint...in a bad way. Stringy globs of inedible fat. It was so gross, I dumped it all. Strike 4. While exiting, I looked at the other diners meals. Most of them had the fries. Maybe I should have taken the cashier's suggestion...
