It was more take your order, pay and thanks. Food was pretty good. We ordered a burrito and some flautas (no cheese). Good flavor and we got some chips and salsa. Looks like they stepped it up since the last time I came. Ordered a lengua super burrito $14.75 and a quesabirria taco $5.75. Super burrito was great, spicy, well balanced ingredients, tender meat. Quesabirria was ok, a big soggy, greasy mess. I would skip this next time. Their salsas are delicious, both red and green. La Cornets never disappoints! Stopped in today to escape the crowds of the San Carlos Art & Wine Faire and grab some lunch. It wasn't too crowded and service was quick. I used to eat lunch with colleagues at their Glen Park, SF location all the time! It was my first introduction to La Corneta Mexican cuisine way back in 2009. The parking was rough in SF so I started venturing down the Peninsula to the Burlingame location on my lunch breaks. After some years, finally made my way to this location in San Carlos. One fact for sure, nice family owned restaurant with great staff and great Mexican food. Each location is really cute with murals and lovely cultural, tile walls, very bright and inviting. Always love eating inside. They're located in highly trafficked areas, cheers to their success! Location is key. My go-to has been variety of quesadillas and tacos. Their carnitas are really good! I've had shrimp with mushrooms quesadilla, carnitas quesadilla, chicken and steak quesadillas, too. Very fresh ingredients and grilled just right. I had their tacos a la carte, very good and prepared how you enjoy your tacos. I've also ordered their meat in pint containers to take home for salads to take for work, both grilled chicken and steak. Their homemade chips and salsas, love them! Salsa bar is awesome, lots to choose from. Homemade guacamole is awesome! Buy a tub to take home with you. They have stuffed homemade churros! Get these. Walk-in, get in line, ask for what you want from their extensive menu and as you make your way to the cashier as your final stop before sitting down to eat, you can see all the food in front of you and watch them put everything together for you. Staff are always, kind and helpful. If it's busy, stand out of the line to look at the menu so you don't hold up the line, then jump in line to place your order and pay. After you pay, head to the salsa bar while your food order is being completed. Very memorable whenever I visit for some great Mexican food. We have been to this place many times and it's always very solid! It's like an authentic version of Chipotle in that you go down the line and can customize your plate. I especially love the grilled chicken, shrimp fajitas, and my husband likes the burritos. Their salsa verde is so fresh and spicy it's very delicious! The servers are also friendly. Alma greeted us and seated us and took our order- this is new for LaCorneta. She was very attentive and very deserving of a tip. We love the food there and it's only gotten better over time. Please see their new attractive, but under-used, bar. ( It's competing with the Irish Pub next door.) The Current Giants game was on the screens, but not loudly. I always take my half of baby burrito home- very filling along with complementary chips and salsa- and I enjoy it in slices for a noon-ish mini breakfast. I ate here with my family and was not happy overall. My wife had old cheese at the bottom of her side lerrice bowl, and the guacamole was old like it had been frozen and thawed out. When I asked for the manager, he wasn't there. His employee had to call him. When I told him the out 2 other plates were fine, it that my wife's plate wasn't good, he said they only do refunds right after they bring out the plate, not later. I explained we didn't see the lettuce issue until later. We almost returned it after we saw how bad the guacamole was, now I'm wishing we had just never ate there. My pick was the combination plate with Grilled Salmon, Prawns, and Steak, which came with rice, beans, tortillas, a simple salad of lettuce/tomatoes/lime, as well as shrimp with spring onions and mushrooms, salmon, and a thin piece of flank steak, all grilled fresh to order. We also got sides of pico de gallo (chopped tomatoes, onions, cilantro) and guacamole, and everything was fresh, vibrant, and flavorful. We called in to order and got the enchilada special, small bag of chips and veggie taco. Service is quick and easy through ordering on the website online. They send you text messages with confirmed order, time of pick up and when it's ready. The chips are crisp and good. The taco was really good with a lot of filling! Had to eat some of the filling first before biting into the taco. I liked the soft tortilla for the taco. The enchilada was filled with cheese with nice flavorful enchilada sauce. Tasty combination with the beans, rice and salad. Had to pay a bit extra for rice. Overall, a filling meal that is shareable for 2 people or just have left overs. read more

I used to dine at the Glen Park location all the time when I lived in San Francisco, but never visited the San Carlos location even though I live close by. Honestly, I didn't even know it was there! I ordered Combo #6, which includes a quesadilla suiza with meat of your choice, prawns and grilled mushrooms. I opted for no beans so it came with extra rice and salad as well as tortillas. The chicken mole was rich and flavorful and definitely hit the spot! The kids ordered 2 quesabirria tacos each. Each one was stuffed with meat! We also received complimentary chips, pico de gallo and salsa. The food was delish and everyone was happy with their meal! The portions are large and prices are very reasonable. Dined in for our first time. We've walked by several times and decided to stop in based on the variety of items on the menu to satisfy our pescatarian diet. Pretty popular place. The counter was set up like an "order-then-sit" kind of place, but we were approached by a staff member who asked if we'd like to dine in. It's tasteless Because I didn't feel like paying an additional fee for Carne asada this time I opted for the chicken for my chicken crispy taco. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised on how tender and flavorful this chicken was. It actually didn't taste like bland chewing gum!
