La Costa Beach Club is a clean, comfortable, quiet resort, that's right on the beach. You can walk out of a gate, over a dune, and be at the ocean. The rooms are spacious, have comfortable beds, nice bathrooms, and full kitchens. It has plenty of parking, outdoor BBQs, ping pong, three pools, and two hot tubs. There's a convenience store, juice bar, and a couple restaurants about 2 minutes away by car. The service from check-in to check-out went smoothly, and the staff was super friendly. They all smiled, said good morning or hello every time I passed them in the hall. It's well maintained, and a great place to relax on your next vacation. read more

Needs a little kitchen updates as far as cooking supplies if you are planning on cooking in your unit. They used to have everything you needed but not anymore. We couldn't get a large frying pan or a baking pan for the oven. Needed a cutting board too. Otherwise it has three pools and the beach, but could use more umbrellas around the pools. read more

The rooms were extremely small, the ac units loud, the decor out dated, and the general building is pretty dingy and damp as you walk through. Just finished a week here on a recommendation from John, the resort manager at &Edgewater on Cape Cod. What a great place!!! Staff and amenities were fantastic!!!! Event evening security was great..... very helpful when we came in late at night. Room was clean and functional. Interactions with other owners and guests was always fun and interesting. This is one of my home RCI resorts that I own. We purchased it back in 1984 before our kids were even born. Over the years we have traded to numerous other resorts that I'm afraid to say, were far better than the one that we own. The Pros - The resort is right on the beach on A1A and close to grocery stores and shopping. - During the recession we stayed home and spent the week living on the beach. - There are several pools. I like to do laps and it was perfect for that. - There are also several jucuzzis. That was also great for privacy. Some are indoors for rainy days. - The units were recently newly renovated. We had to pay a special assessment for that, so enjoy... The Cons -The buildings are old. -Parking is limited. -Our unit is only a studio. If I were to purchase for going to this resort, I would buy a larger unit. All in all, I am happy that we purchased here. The cost wasn't much and it afforded us to travel and see the world. You can still purchase a unit here for very reasonable prices. If you like to trade, this is the way to go! read more

We stayed here for two weeks, took over my brother's timeshare. We were in a suite, which was a bit too small for us, but had everything we needed. We faced the ocean, so loved the view! We appreciated the ping pong table too:) Upon putting clothes in the drawers, (very small and narrow), I found a woman's bra and shirt behind one of the drawers! YUCK Also, the gym was greatly lacking:( The water dispenser provided water, but was not cold. After a some serious rain one night, the gym floor had a lot of water and there were machines still plugged in to electricity! Yikes! Once, they didn't have any cleaning wipes either. After that rainy night, there was water everywhere, outside of our room, such as hallways, etc. When I needed to do laundry, two of the four dryers were out of order. They did get repaired after I told registration. It was very noisy at night, way past midnight. Sometimes it was people moving furniture upstairs, all night long. sometimes, crying children in the hallways - very very late. One night it sounded like fireworks. Our patio light was out. There were lots of scuff marks on the doors and all doors and handles were sticky/dirty. The stairwell was especially filthy. The water pressure was terrible in the shower. The TV was tiny with little options for viewing. They did replace the TV during our second week, which improved our evenings. I'm not sure how they can expect people to buy into this time share! We were looking for a last minute quick staycation near or on the beach. We wanted to stay at a smaller, simpler local resort, and perusing through reviews, we ran across La Costa. We booked through hotels.com and got a fair price. 4 stars: friendly staff that afternoon and most of our visit. On arrival, from the front, the driveway and parking are tight, a few driveways north of NE 14th Street, but we always had a parking space. First impression looking at the building, you get concerned, but throughout our stay I saw at least 2 security guards walking around regularly while using the amenities at several different times of the day each day. 1 star: check-in not until 4pm and checkout at 10am, no exceptions. Seems like you lose almost a whole day!! Felt like a little highway robbery :-( 3 stars: room descriptions vs. reality. Most places I've found have difficulty relating the two dimensions when advertising. Now when we booked online, the description said "1 bedroom condo". We ended up with a "loft" 2 story townhome. We called the property beforehand to tell them we wanted a 1 bedroom suite where there was a door that closed off the bedroom, we would like that privacy piece. The person we spoke to didn't seem to be able to explain the room layouts nor seemed to understand our room request. After 2 conversations separate between hubby calling and me calling, we gave up on our request. Upon sight, the dated townhouse unit we had, the first floor looks like a tiny living room, there is a half bathroom and a small updated kitchenette with full size appliances. There is a narrow turn stairwell (definitely handicapped challenging) that opens to a full bedroom..second floor looks like a regular hotel room that has a closet and a full bathroom with a shower. There is a 2d floor sliding glass patio door, however there is *no door* enclosing the bedroom. We did not want that. We did a talk test and had a full conversation in a normal voice, me sitting on the 1st floor couch, Hubby lying in bed upstairs. Your snoring, any gassiness, private comments, etc. from the bedroom can be heard clearly by folks hanging out downstairs so keep that in mind. Both upstairs and downstairs AC units made crazy annoying sounds, made sleeping a challenge. The TVs were a little larger than computer monitors....yes, rather small if your wanting to watch any significant amount of TV, which we didn't... The layout of the property is a little tricky at first, it seemed like 2 separate buildings....where we were the building was 2 floors and had old school catwalks and breezeways. The property has direct beach access, just a fence and gates. Where our townhouse sat was relatively quite a ways from the beach, however we saw ocean view units, I'm guessing either more pricey than what we paid or studio only. The indoor pool has a segmented wall that is open to the outside, but I guess it's still considered indoor. There are two very nice outdoor pool areas. The crowds were family oriented and diverse when we went, very comfortable vacation environment. Apparently it's a timeshare situation, they seem to have activites during the week, indicated on a bulletin board. There is table tennis and a couple of hot tubs. We didn't see room service, but we prefer no room service so that was fine. For the price and the nice atmosphere, we'd come back, but is have to see one of the other room layouts. read more

But this year we have had some problems our door wouldnt lock one night so i had to cancel my plans to go out and my key card worked about 30% of the time that is the worst thing here otherwise great place a couple of glitches but you cant beat this place the views, the price, and the staff is so awesome especially Scott what a great guy come here once and you will with out a doubt come back read more

Lots of construction/updating going on here. It will be a nice place when all the renos are done. We were in a room not yet redone so, obviously, it was in need of updating but it was clean. We couldn't have asked for a better location. On the sand, 3 pools, a whirlpool. What more do you want on a beach vaca? Next door is another resort -Lighthouse which has a SUPER fun tiki bar in the back. Plus a nice indoor restaurant and bar. Sooo, walking distance to booze. Great location, great price, great amenities, quiet, 3 pools (one heated), 2 hot tubs, lots of rooms remodeled and elegant, overall clean, ample outlets, walls not too thin, plush towels, decent hot water showers, beach towels provided, nice restaurant next door, lighthouse in walking distance, free parking, some clerks friendly/helpful, maintenance works quickly/onsite, great balcony, tall loungers, great bed, beautiful gardens. Had an excellent stay. Highly recommend. CONS. advertised activities didn't occur (if you care it matters, if you don't care, no biggie), elevator floor always filthy, one pool designated "owners only", never told about fitness area, no food onsite, no daily cleaning service (ok by me), water had sulfur odor some days, wifi only worked on balconies, noisy a/c, toilet seat was mismatched to toilet and not comfortable, construction next door (noises). All these are typical condo stuff. The worst "con" was the reservation specialist did not get my reservation to the condo/owners so I arrived with "no reservation". Thankfully I had confirmation on my phone. They wanted to up price $70 but negotiated within $4 of my original quote (but shame on Ms. Gibbs who messed up). NOTE: Grounds are wheelchair/scooter accessible. Balcony and shower are step-up or step down, bathroom door not wide enuf for chair, shower bars not placed right for all, hot tub steps too deep for leg disabled but they do have an auto-chair if needed. So try at your own risk. Those with milder issues will be fine. read more

I purchased this stay from Hotwire and I can guarantee I'll never do that again. This run down, filthy, Murphy bed, wall unit ac having hole in the wall is a complete waste of money. Don't do it unless you want to slum it. This place is disgusting. And as for being beachfront property, it should be bulldozed to make room for a real resort. There is very limited parking, metal gates that look like the inside of a prison, and I guess that's a good thing so the rift raft from the neighborhood have a harder time trying to rob you. There are 2 pools- one is supposed to be "indoor" which is the resorts way of saying "covered" but it's really just a small dirty looking spa, the other is "outdoor" but not much bigger. There is no elevator, so if you have a lot of suitcases, be prepared to make several trips up and down the stairs. Also, don't arrive late, as the reception/lobby closes at 8pm. Then, the security guard takes over. He doesn't know much but he tried. I'm not sure what he was keeping secure since he stayed in the office on his phone the whole time. There was nothing even remotely good about this property. Even though I paid in full for 4 nights, I never stayed a single night. The second I entered the room, I turned around and checked out. Huge waste of money, I know, but I'd rather leave than compromise my safety at a crappy, disgusting hotel. It's definitely not a "resort" of any kind. read more

If you are looking for an affordable peaceful vacation, La Costa beach club is a good place to stay. This is definitely a family friendly resort. The outdoor charcoal grills (4-5) were a great amenity. The beach was very nice with volleyball nets directly out from the resort. A half mile walk down the beach will take you to a beautiful view of the intercoastal waterway and a lighthouse - also a great place to fish and snorkel. Jet skiing and water sports are very close on the beach. The beaches were not crowded while we were there. There are two outdoor pools and one indoor. None of the pools are directly on the ocean, but both outdoor areas were nice. There are two buildings and only the tower offers balconies. We enjoyed our stay at La Costa quite a bit while we were there. read more

Not so great. Stayed here for the week of Christmas. Hot water was nonexistent the first day. After the staff adjusted, it still took a solid ten minutes before it got warm. The hot tub was only hot sometimes too, which was a bummer because it was chilly out. Rooms were generally really dusty and dirtier than I'm used to when we book through RCI. There were cobwebs in the corners and old coffee grounds on the bathroom floor. The pools could use a serious mold cleaning. There were no extra trash bags in our unit and the ones we had were so flimsy they were practically useless. Pros: they provide towels you can switch out daily. Right on the beach! read more

Pros The resort is right on the beach and close to grocery stores. there is a publix about 1.5 miles away. the beach is a very short walk. unfortunately we went during sea-weed season so we didn't use the beach much. we tried a couple times at night. the beach was great it was the ocean that was full. it is located in nice area. we checked in really late and left really early. the night security guy was friendly. There are several pools and they are clean and nice. The units were recently newly renovated. Pretty quite, we didn't really hear too the people playing in the pool (we had pool view) Elevator for the top floors. Free Parking. AC unit was quite. Provided beach towels Cons The buildings are old and a little musky. No housekeeping Parking is limited. if you arrive late at night you are going to get one of the last parking spots. we found parking every night but it was a worry. The unit is fairly small. we had a 1bdrm suite and used the hide-a-bed. once its opened you have no room at all to walk in front of it. The front door was not hung correctly, it was a real pain and loud to close. you had to slam it shut. No bar/restaurant in walking distance. next door has one but its closed real early. we didn't want to leave late at night to drive any where in fear of losing a parking spot and not being able to drink if we had to drive back. having to actually check out and remember to return keys. usually in hotels I am used to just leaving. this place asks you to do all the dishes, take out the trash, put all of the linens in a basket. When we are leaving at 3am it wasn't fun tearing down the bed and hide-a-bed. our trip was pretty go-go-go so we didn't take advantage of the full kitchen or the beach. next trip we take out to the area we will try this place again. read more

We stayed for a week in mid-June and it was wonderful! Just steps from our room to the beautiful beach front. Our unit was excellent...updated, clean, nicely air conditioned. We had a one bedroom which had a king size bed. Super comfy! Close to everything; restaurants, shops, churches, stores. We rented a jet ski and had a great time on the ocean. My husband and I and my service dog stayed there for a week this March 2016, The 4th night my service dog went downstairs and we couldn't understand why. We checked but didn't see anything. After a day ate the beaches we came back to prepare dinner when my husband asked if I ate into a banana that was on the counter?? I looked at him like he was crazy, who eats thru the skin I asked.... well after looking further we noticed either rat or mice droppings all over the counter and obviously the banana was bitten thru by a rodent. I called maintenance who came soon and he was quite surprised at the size of droppings and took photos with his phone, came back and put gigantic glue traps behind the appliances. I had extended our stay for 2 more days but cancelled after that. I was also surprised by the front desk response to this situation, no apology and no reaction. Location is great but I don't want to vacation with rats or mice.I also sent them pictures via email and basically they said they hope we should give there resort another chance... . read more

The first time we stayed here we fell in love with the two bedroom/two bath unit. Turns out there is only one unit like that and it is sold out (we just got lucky that one time). After almost a year, we were able to purchase a time share week in a one bedroom, oceanfront unit. We just love this property. It is casual and friendly. If you are looking for nightlife and partying on site this isn't for you. La Costa is a low key, quiet place with indoor and outdoor pools. They offer activities with something for everyone. There are communal grills too. When we feel like an afternoon drink or lunch from someplace besides our condo, it's a quick walk two properties down the beach. Lots of cool bars and restaurants a short drive away. Easy to stock up at any of the many grocery stores nearby, which also sell beer and wine! So happy we found La Costa and that we can look forward to coming every year! (The only reason I didn't give five stars is because the furniture and decor is cheap and uncomfortable) read more

Horrible experience, I booked two nights here with my girlfriend. On they're website, they mention nothing about having to be over 25 to check in. Therefore, I prepaid in full; nonetheless, when I got there I could not check into the room that I already paid for because I am 23. I drove all the way down from Orlando a 3 1/2 hour drive to stay at this location for the weekend. They said there was nothing they could do to help.
