Secretly tucked away inside Ponce City Market, La Cueva is a cute, dimly lit, romantic spot with a cozy atmosphere and really good food. We ordered the 24 oz Prime Bone-In Ribeye, short rib, Brussels sprouts, and broccolini, and everything was delicious. No complaints at all. The live band was also a great touch and really added to the vibe. The space isn't huge, but that actually makes it feel more intimate and cozy--perfect for a date night. So I've been meaning to come across this spot but every time I'm in the area I always forget. Made it in there finally and it was actually pretty cool . It's in Ponce City Market so you already know how that's going to go. You have to pay for parking but it's not that big of a deal because it's not overly expensive. For a couple of hours you're going to pay under $6 so it's not that bad. It's on the second floor of the market so at least you know where you're going but it's very inconspicuous so just look for the barber shop. You probably need to have reservations if you're going to try to go so let me just say that right out the gate. If they can make space for you, they will but it's not necessarily guaranteed. If you want to sit at the bar, you can probably try to finagle your way there. If you want a table, you're going to have to plan it out a little bit . The decor is very cave-like, which is the whole premise of it. It looks like you're inside of a cave because of the stone decorations and the stone surroundings but it's still the inside of a warehouse type of situation. It's still pretty cool . Met one of the owners of it and his name was Rob and he was a really cool guy. He stopped to have some conversation and had really good customer service. I would definitely consider that a plus and a bonus because a lot of times you don't meet the owners or the managers of spots that you go into. He was making rounds so that was awesome. This spot has live music so if you want to get a little music vibe in, this would be a good spot to go to. Rob said that they usually have live music at around 7:00 and it's almost every day. It could be a DJ or it could be a live band. When I went it was a jazz band type of situation . There's not plenty of seats but there are enough seats. This is not a spot that you would go to if you're going to go ahead and try to have a group of 20 or something large like that. This is not that kind of party but if you wanted maybe a group of four then this probably would be a better option for you. It's not overly big even though they do have seating there so just keep that in mind when you're planning . Buford highway - so this is an interesting drink but it handled itself pretty well considering it had two liquors in it. It's very light compared to what you would think it would be and it's not overpowering so you could actually probably drink more than one of these and be good . Overall this is a cool little spot. I'm not sure if it's going to be the new summer or fall spot but it has potential. Since it's not easy to get into, it's not going to be something you can just walk into with a bunch of friends. If you want a really decent vibe, then I would definitely say give it a shot for some drinks . read more

Absolute top tier atmosphere, their lighting and decor really make you feel like you're in another world. I loved how they had their menus in little leather booklets, and everything on it looked great. The service was prompt and friendly. I got the shrimp empanadas and the Pathfinder cocktail while my friend got the goat cheese croquettes and the Desert Justice. Shrimp empanadas were delicious, though they needed more of the green sauce to give it more juice. I loved them anyway. Seeing others around us get main dishes, it was awesome to see the variety in what they offer (literally everything looked good). My cocktail, the Pathfinder, tasted almost tasted like strawberry citrus(amazing), the perfect amount of gin, and there was a complexity to it that was perfect. Plus mint garnish, which was beautiful. It was hard at times to hear conversation over the live jazz band that began playing while we were there. If they were playing softer, it would have been just perfect. I enjoyed seeing them play noneltheless, it's not everyday you get to see live jazz. This is an amazing place with an unforgettable vibe. I'm so excited to come back and try more on their cocktail menu. 100000/10 I've never been so pleased from the time I walked in, until the time I left. I loved everything about this place. The cocktail menu isn't too intense but so good. My cocktail name, I can't remember but it had tequila, and white wiskey which sounds weird but it was extremely refreshing. My entire family ordered different things and I nibbled on everyone's plate but my favorite was the fish. It was SO good, seasoned perfectly. NOW the star of the show was the tres leches. I would never think to have pineapples with it and it was extremely fresh and super tasty. The service was amazing, our server was Maya she continuously checking on us without being annoying but still attentive and telling us some of her favorites which we ordered. First and foremost, reservations are highly recommended! We decided to have dinner here for a birthday celebration, and I'm so glad we did. I had come across quite a few reviews saying the food wasn't that great, so I went in with mixed expectations. I'm definitely glad I decided to try it for myself because the food was delicious! The branzino was honestly some of the best I've ever had, and I've tried branzino at quite a few different restaurants. The shrimp empanadas were also delicious! SUCH A VIBE! This is a true new hot spot in Atlanta! It's a little tricky to find like a typical speakeasy, but it is on the second floor of Ponce City Market past the barber shop. The door is on the right with a martini glass on it. Make sure to enter your code they gave you with your reservation. As soon as you walk in, you're transported to a new, sexy world. You make your way down a red LED light filled hallway to get to the bar and dining room. It genuinely does feel like a cave with great food and music. When the band isn't playing, they play chill, instrumental EDM (which I love). The service is prompt and attentive. I got the RICO Guave drink and branzino as my entree. Both were delicious and perfect. My drink was a good balance of sweet, sour and boozy. My branzino had a good flavor of pesto and perhaps also Parmesan. The plates here are gorgeous but they can be quite light. If you like to be full or eat heavy, then you'll need to also get an appetizer and/or desserts. The bread was so fluffy and lightly sweet. So heavenly to slowly enjoy. GET IT! Worth the carbs. This is a great spot for a date night, girls outing or solo celebration of life. The food came out super fast - about 15 minutes within ordering. This place is super cool located on second floor of PCM. Really quite unique. Unfortunately everyone waiting for a table who didn't have a reservation was standing in the lobby taking thousands of photos so we couldn't enjoy that part. The vibe is vibing there's no doubt. It's beautiful and really unique. The cocktails are good. The apps weren't bad. Ceviche was liked by some of us but not all. The bread was a missing something. The entrees were also good. La Cueva is the newest cocktail hotspot in town, being made famous by social media influencers. The entrance to this place is very unassuming (as it should be since it is a speakeasy). Highly suggest that you make a reservation since it is so popular right now. We were able to walk in and get some spots at the bar but do not count on this. La Cueva means "cave" and the ambiance is that in ever since of the word. I tried two different drinks, The drifter, and the Buford highway. Buford highway is made of different liquors from different demographics, hence the name. It was very refreshing. Pro tip-keep the dried strawberry on the drink. The drifter had a foam base on it. It was nice to have the owner come by and introduce himself. He blended in so assumedly, we just thought he was someone patronizing. Lol They have live music almost every night. I fear I may have visited La Cueva too early, before they had a chance to work the kinks out. First off, the ambiance and atmosphere is top tier. Absolutely gorgeous. I love a speakeasy, and this one was extremely unique. The establishment is essentially one huge cave. The way you enter is very interesting, you open the front door through a code sent to you on your phone. Very cool. The drinks were excellent, we tried about 6 cocktails between my group and the stand-outs favorites were the Bandolero and Thrilla in Manila. We only had one appetizer, the Goat Cheese Croquettes. They were very good, a nice mix of goat cheese and guava. For the entrees and sides, we had the Pappardelle, Smash Burger, and Aligot. Unfortunately we had to send the aligot back to be reheated, as it came out lukewarm. This is also not my personal definition of aligot, which is a whipped potato dish with enough cheese mixed in that it creates a cheese pull. These were just very wet and cold. Flavor was good, but no cheese detected. The pappardelle was also lukewarm when it came out, but my friend did not want to spend the time waiting for it to come back out after being reheated. The flavor was fine. It states "truffle" and mushroom on the menu, but truly we only tasted mushroom in a loose sauce. Would not order again. The Smash Burgers and fries were very good, nothing groundbreaking, but this was probably my favorite food item that we ordered. As of right now, I would come back to sit at the bar and have some drinks. I will give it some more time and come back in a few months to try more food. read more

For food, the milk bread, goat cheese croquettes, and shrimp empanadas were all great choices and complemented the drinks perfectly. My only complaint was the table size. The serving plates were much too large for the small table, and I actually had to keep one of the smaller plates on my lap to make everything fit. It made dining a little uncomfortable. The place looks immaculate. Moody, considered, effortlessly warm. The live music is the center piece and the orange lights makes you want to settle in, order another drink, and stay awhile. There's identity here. Warm vibe. Somebody clearly cared. The food? Less revelatory. The menu doesn't exactly venture into uncharted territory, but there's something to be said for cooking familiar things properly. Most of what arrived at the table was well executed. The tostada was particularly mid--flat, fish quite underseasoned, and desperately in need of something to wake it up. The ribeye, however, was the exception. Properly cooked, satisfying, and easily the highlight of the meal. More of that! Unfortunately, the service managed to undo a lot of the goodwill the kitchen and the room had earned. We were rushed through the end of our meal because apparently the table needed to be turned after an hour--a policy nobody bothered to mention beforehand. That would already be irritating, but our cocktails didn't arrive until toward the end of the meal. Then we were told dessert would take roughly 20 minutes to prepare while simultaneously being made to feel like we needed to get out of the building. You can't have it both ways. If you're going to put diners on a clock, please tell them when they sit down. Better yet, make sure your own service operates on that same clock. Don't deliver drinks late, offer a dessert that takes 20 minutes, and then make the guests feel responsible for the restaurant falling behind. It's hard to leave this place, yall earned that! La Cueva is new. New restaurants have growing pains. Kitchens find their rhythm, menus evolve, and service gets tighter. That's understandable. But hospitality is not a minor detail. It's part of the meal. La Cueva has clearly given enormous attention to how the place looks, sounds, and feels. I made this reservation a month and a half ago. I was excited to take my best friend out for a fun dinner and live music experience while she was in the city. The website said the music started at 5. So I booked a table at 6:15 pm. Our waiter was kind and knowledgeable. When we asked, he told us that the live music didn't start till 8, and that he would keep an eye out for 2 seats at the bar for us, since the restaurant does timed seating. Which is like 90 mins. We were wrapping up our dinner and had just ordered another drink. We hadn't even gotten a dessert menu or paid our check when the hostess walked over to us and extremely rudely said that we had overstayed our alloted time and we needed to leave. Mind you, we are at a tiny 2 person table and there are other open tables around us. I told her that we would leave when we were done, but I was not happy about being rushed. It was shockingly unprofessional and not the type of restaurant environment I support. So we get our checks and I got a cocktail to go, since all of Ponce City market allows you to take alcohol to go and have a drink while you are walking around. As we are leaving the restaurant, I get chased down by a security guard that says I can't take my drink. I figured he meant the glass, so I said, that's fine. Give me a to go cup. He made me come back inside and pressured me and humiliated me into finishing my drink before I left the restaurant in front of 4 different hostesses who were all staring at me. One of them called me rude. I was beyond shocked by their disgusting treatment of me. My friend and I spent well over $200, tipped 20% and were treated like criminals. I regularly eat out at high end restaurants in ATL and this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. Once we found the entrance (which I think is part of the experience) we were greeted by a smiling hostess and sat right away. One of the manager spoke to us as we were walking to our table with a greeting as well. Al'nitria was our server and she took great care of us, making recommendations for food and drinks that were all outstanding! We mentioned it was our anniversary and she brought us some celebratory champagne. We were almost done, but then the live jazz band started so we stayed a little longer to enjoy it. !!! TRASH FOUND IN DRINK AND AWFUL MANAGEMENT !!! I was just here with my friend and had the worst possible experience. We get there and the food and drinks were alright, (not nearly as good as all of these influencers say it is) but the worst part was at the end of our meal, after we had already paid the bill, we are finishing up our drinks and getting ready to leave when my friend stops in her tracks and has to reach into her throat to pull out an alarmingly large piece of plastic. PLASTIC IN HER DRINK that she ALMOST swallowed. She is obviously disgusted and panicked but we calmly place it in a napkin and hand it to our waitress. She tells us she will bring it our manager right away. We wait in the lobby for him to come out and he immediately starts trying to take the blame off of him. He says "Hi nice to meet you. I have looked all around the bar and was unable to find anything that matches the plastic that was in the drink." I say... "ok, what is this, is this an apology?" (Because that was all he said I was not understanding where he was going with this.) He goes "well, yes I am apologizing." ..... and he just looks at us. I say... "so... how do we move forward from this?..." he says "Well what do you expect?" In an extremely irritated tone. Are you kidding me??? I was completely shocked and confused so I go "um I don't know what should I expect???" And he again in a rude tone goes "I don't know what do you expect???" We did not ask for money although you really shouldn't be meant to pay for a contaminated drink, and yet he was so immediately rude and defensive.
