Hiring a contractor is like getting married - you are going to be spending a lot of time with the person, so trust and communication are key. I met three contractors at my apartment to get an idea of price and their approach to the work. One contractor came recommended by someone in the building, but when he told me that he recommended scaling back part of my bathroom renovation to make the project easier, it didn't sit well with me. If the contractor is saying "No" at the beginning, imagine how that is going to sound one month into the project. One contractor seemed great in person, had a lot of ideas, sent me a detailed quote, and then was very hard to reach for weeks, explaining that he was doing a lot of traveling. I believed him, but I am on my phone all the time, and I wanted someone more accessible. Although I was tempted to go with the second person, I was a little weary about the communication issue. A friend who works in real estate told me that is normal with contractors, that you have to bug them to get a response. I believed him until I spoke with Jeff, who is the owner of Prime Renovations. He met me on time, replied to my emails and phone calls quickly, and had a lot of ideas for make my renovation happen. There were a number of pros to choosing Prime Renovations: - Communication: This is huge, Jeff is available by email and phone all the time. This is so important when you are dealing with all the stress of a renovation. - Quality: Very high. I am a little shocked when I look around my apartment. It looks so nice that my wife and I can't believe that we live here. This also meant that many little things were done that make the project look high end. - Subcontractors (flooring, painting, electrical, plumbing): These guys were excellent. When we had an issue or wanted to change things, such as the location of our chandelier, moving a ceiling fan, dealing with a problem dishwasher, etc., Jeff was quick to deal with it. - Integrity. I don't use this word lightly. I am a psychiatrist and spend all day trying to help people understand their motivations. I believe that Jeff is an honestly good person who would not cheat a client. Although renovation is inevitably stressful, I trusted him with my home. As a result, we love living in our renovated apartment. I am thankful I chose to work with Jeff and Prime Renovations. ONE YEAR UPDATE: The quality still looks great. We had an issue with the W/D and Jeff came out himself to look at it and then sent the plumber, who came for free. Outstanding guarantee. Also, my father is an engineer and home builder outside of the city and he specializes in spotting mistakes and errors in construction. He stayed with me for a few days and spontaneously said that the construction was very well done, especially the small details. Huge compliment and it speaks to the quality of my renovation. I am not one to usually leave negative reviews, let alone ANY reviews, but my experience with this company left me no choice but to leave one. I have a bulkhead up on my roof and, prior to calling this roofer, I went up myself to inspect it. There was absolutely no visible damage. I reached out to them simply to get a quote for general roof maintenance and to add a layer of silver coating. However, the quote I received back included multiple "areas of repair" and alleged damage that was supposedly extensive and required immediate attention. The issue? This "damage" was non-existent before their visit. James, the person who came to do the inspection, performed both a drone and physical inspection. After his visit, I was shocked to see that several areas he claimed needed repair looked tampered with. I did not have before photos to prove my point, but based on my own prior inspection, I am confident that these so-called problem areas were not there beforehand. It truly feels as though damage was created during the inspection in an attempt to upsell unnecessary work. This is not only unethical but incredibly disappointing. I called for an honest maintenance quote, not to be manipulated into paying for repairs I didn't need. I would strongly caution anyone considering this company to make sure you take detailed photos of your roof before any inspection or quote. My experience has completely eroded my trust in their honesty and professionalism. Save yourself the extra cost and go with someone else.

Anthony is super responsive to emails. He does not hesitate to provide a written estimate. I do not trust a business that will not provide a written estimate. Anthony secured the required COI, and he and the two technicians arrived a few minutes early. We had a great conversation as the techs removed and replaced the drain assembly in 50 minutes or less. I had attempted to complete the replacement myself, I am a DIY kind of gal, but could not even begin to remove the lock nut beneath the basin. I thought the basin would need to be unmounted from the wall, but no, it did not. I was impressed with the ease and speed at which the replacement was completed. I will certainly contract with Infinity Maintenance again. I found the cost to be reasonable as I understand Anthony is running a for profit business and must pay his team.

The estimate went well until on the day of appointment. This guy Anthony was super rude and gave me lecture when I text and called him at the appointment window, lectured me and told me apologize is not enough and I have to explain to him why I think I need to apologize. He became very scary at the point. At that time I already thought about canceling the job and he is obviously not the only handyman in the area. But since I drove all the way from mid Jersey to Jersey City for this appointment, I did what he wished and " confessed" my mistake. After that I patiently waited for him in the car, he cancelled the appointment when the appointment window is almost ended, stating his " gut feeling" is not right. He could have simply said he couldn't make it to the appointment rather than going into this dramatic show and traumatize me after already wasted my time. And to reply to his reply, I said he can use the "side door" b/c he said he is concerned that the front desk will not let him in. It was a Saturday and front desk is usually a weekend staff who is not as experienced so to not risk him not able to enter I kindly offered to open the side door for him( this is the entrance that is closest to elevator and garage and has accessible entrance which we usually use) it has nothing to do with the management. In reality I myself entered through the main gate and already let the front desk know. And I told him we can enter through main gate after he said he wants to cancel for " gut feeling". I even text him to explain but he refused my call and ignore my text. On the other hand, he raised his concern at 11ish on the appointment day and I said he can go through the side door but he didn't say anything about it. Our appointment window was 1-1:30 and he canceled the appointment at 1:20 without a call to even discuss the matter. Again, nothing could explain his extreme yelling at 1pm when I tried to tell his I have arrived, at which time he did not mention anything about he was concerned about the side door. I wasted 50 mins drive+ 20 mins waiting on a Saturday. This is not including the time my tenant set aside for him. Seriously consider this review if you want to hire him.

Dan came by, and quoted me to add a hose to the front yard, add a washer/dryer water hookup, and to add a gas water heater for our 2 unit house. We also got one other quote, and Dan's prices were very fair. We were able to schedule within the week for him to come by. He was able to do the hose and washer dryer within just a few hours - he was very efficient. He came by the following week to do the gas water heater install. He listened as I explained what I wanted. He described in explicit detail what could be done to remedy the situation concerning the brownstoning of the stoop and cementing beneath the stoop. At his point I had already had several price quotes and description from other vendors. Hasan's description and price was by far the best. We set a start date for 3 weeks later. Hassan's contract was in detail as was discussed. His payment plan was even better: 10% at the signing of the contract, 40% at the start of the project, 40% midway through the project, and 10% upon completion. Unbeknownst to him, this made the project even more affordable because it would take a few weeks to be completed. Additionally, he gave a timetable/estimate of how many days the work would take (depending on the weather) as well how the work would be divided into sections. Hasan came with his workers on the very first day and outlined what was to be done. He would come on a daily basis unannounced (I think) to inspect and examine completed work. His level of professionalism, skills set, and competence is unmatched by any other contractor that I have come in contact with. Hassan's workers have an excellent work ethic. They report to work in promptly and begin to work immediately. They are prepared to work complete with the appropriate materials and tools. As you watch them work one can see they are well versed in their profession. They work proficiently, diligently, skillfully, neatly, and quietly.
