Love the authentic feel of this restaurant. Very close to our hotel as well...good location to walk to. Haven't had any issues with the water from them despite being off the resorts (possibly they filter?) Had the chicken mole and it was to die for. Fresh chicken, very flavorful, came with mini tortillas to wrap it in. Had a delicious mini tacos as an app, with a really spicy salsa. Service is good, we actually sat at the bar. They have a mariachi band that comes around and sings to you. Wide variety of tequila and they are very knowledgeable with recommendations. Some of the drink options are hit or miss, if you want something other than a margarita, maybe ask them to make something special if you don't see on the menu. Eh I didn't think this place was worth the price. It felt kind of like an American restaurant. The food was good, nothing special. Prices were super high. There were for of us and we spent over $200 for dinner + 1 drink each. I think it would've been nicer if we went earlier to see the sunset during dinner. I went here with my friends to have a kind of fancy meal while in Cancun for spring break. The food was really good and the service was even better. The ambience was good too. They make the guacamole right at the table and serve it to you in a mortar kind of thing. It tastes good, not the best guac I've had in the area though. They also make the steak for you at the table and the smell is great. Overall the food tastes good. My friends enjoyed the drinks too. The only drawback is that they are a bit pricy. But if you want to enjoy your meal definitely visit the restaurant. The restaurant is open till midnight but the kitchen closes earlier. So be there by 11 if you want to order proper food. read more

Got sick eating here. Do not order beef tongue taco! I believe that was what made me sick all night. Or could be the drinks. Anyways, food is not good. I used to like tortilla soup, but this place's soup is disappointment. AND the band that sings for customers. I'm not against it, it's their will and customers will to listen or not. But please please don't push me to listen because I really rather not. When they offered to sing for me and my husband, I politely said "no thank you, we would like to talk". And they would not leave. Kept pushing us to listen. And offer to sing something general.... okay fine, go ahead. After they finish, they stood there wait for tips. I was really speechless. Umm a Cancun MUST! I could literally drink their table made salsa (under extras for like $4) soooo good. Margaritas are great! Mariachi band is so fun and a thrill. Children's food did not meet our expectations. It was overcooked. Adult food and drinks were superb. We tried the molcajete and cochinita chalupas. Absolutely delicious. Cons, the servers were gentle but the service was slow. 2 stars to the hostess tonight. She could be more gentle to national tourists. The service in Cancun is always great but she was below average. I asked for mints when leaving, she was looking at her phone did not even make eye contact. This is a fancy place, usually the service is very good. When we arrived she said she was going to give us a table inside, that we had reserved a table inside. The valet at the hotel called reserving a table for us but we were never told it was inside. We told her, let me take a look and see if I want to sit inside, If I had not say anything, she had sit us anywhere she wanted. There were many tables available. In summary, great food and drinks, except for children's food. The servers seem to do their best but not the hostess. Very gentle valet parking and great desserts. read more

Amazing services, greeted as soon as we walked in and seat right away even though we didn't make a reservation. A little pricey but worth it for a nice dinner. Ask for a seat with a view and go during sunset for an amazing aesthetic. The Tequila Queso was great, along with surf and turf skewers. We also ordered steak which was cooked perfectly, table side. Had dinner there on Thursday of last week. Not very impressive, just expensive and not done very well. My husband had mole and it was very watered down. I had a steak dish and the steak was flavorless and not very tender. Came with beans and rice and not very much of either. Won't be back as we weren't impressed at all. read more

On our first trip to Cancun, we were not able to get here, we did not have a chance to get here so when we were looking for a good place for dinner, we knew where to go. Like most things, it was well within walking distance of our hotel, and when we got there we were seated right away. Also another great place to watch the sunset if you ask for a seat on the patio. They have a great selection of drinks, obviously pick on with Tequila, because it is the smart thing to do. They have an extensive menu with plenty of options, I can't remember what it was called that I ordered, but they looked kinda like Flip Flops/Sandals. And they were really good! La Destileria was located across the street from Villas Marlin where we were staying. We don't recommend Villas Marlin, but we did enjoy La Destileria. The food was fresh with flavors of Mexico that tickled the palate. Lovely salad, plantanos, avocadoes with mangos, distinctive tastes. The margarita was delicious. They offer tequila tastings as well. We didn't realize they had an outdoor patio over the lagoon because it was dark and late when we arrived, so make sure to ask. This is a popular restaurant. Absolutely incredible. I came here our first night in town in Cancun, and was not disappointed. It's a little pricey, but nothing beat the food we had here, I was absolutely stuffed. I had an amazing margarita on the rocks that tasted like heaven, and also had the molcajete dishes, essentially a meat of your choosing with fresh beans and avocado in a stone bowl to be put on freshly made tortillas. A friend had recommended this restaurant to me prior to my trip and I'm glad I had a chance to dine here. It's a tequila distillery and restaurant and is located in the heart of the hotel tourist zone. The food/service was stellar! We got guacamole made at our table, and I'll tell you was it fresh. There is something truly special about guac made in Mexico, it's just the best. We all ordered off the molcajetes menu per my friends recommendation and I'm glad I had a chance to experience it. When the food arrived it was streaming hot in the brick and mortar bowl. The dish was excellent the shrimp I had was cooked to perfection and paired with avocado, beans, cactus and a few other things. Mind you it was my first time trying cactus and I was in love. It tastes similar to a green pepper but with more flavor. If you haven't tried molcajetes this is the place to do it, they have got it down to a science. My friends also, were throughly impressed with their food. One of them enjoyed it so much he went back a second time that week. Mariachi band came to our table and a few others; we gave them a few bucks and they played a song for us. Pair that with your margarita and it was really quite enjoyable, the band makes the experience more enjoyable Mexican then jumping beans! Make sure you phone ahead for a reservation on the outdoor patio. You can watch the sunset over the bay from here quite comfortably. read more

Huge fan of the food and view not that great a fan of the waiters. Our receptionist at Krystal Grand recommended this place and it was perfect. We were seated outside and had a stunning view and the food is just unforgettable. For drinks: tamarind margarita - i couldn't really taste the tamarind For appetizers: Fried cheese in green sauce - very yum. i wish i knew how to make that sauce For entree: Molcajete de Pollo It came in a stone bowl piping hot and had chorizo, chicken, cactus, avacado and this stew that you use to fill up your tortilla and eat it. Almost like a fajita. I never knew this was even a thing till i came here but was so yum i wish every mexican restaurant offered it. Everything was very flavorful and just perfect. The waiters were a little shady and wnated to take pictures with us girls (we were 5 girls) from their phones which was just weird. One of our better dinners in Cancun. Yes, the prices are slightly high as compared to similar fare in the US, but you're on vacation, right? Waiter service was attentive and efficient, with quick delivery of (very) large MARGARITAS. The waiter was good enough to recommend some dishes that would be good for the children as well. There's a mariachi band, a nice view of the bay, and both indoor (air conditioned) and outdoor (harbor breeze) seating. It's not really a distillery, so no custom Tequila, but they do have flights so you can try a few! read more
