This is for sure one of the best restaurants at the grand fiesta American coral beach. The interior has an authentic Mexican feel to it. The servers are very friendly. And they have a live mariachi band that sang happy birthday to my wife. They also take requests which was awesome. Food wise I tried the mole enchiladas which were good. My wife had to beef tacos and loved them. They have drink specials that change depending on day so ask your server what's available. The best part of the dinner is for sure the dessert. Tres leches cake, flan with eggnog ice cream and fresh churros for the table. Super awesome experience. You need a reservation so make sure you book in advance, and check this place out! read more

Imagine going to an upscale Mexican restaurant with a live mariachi band who has great skill of playing, traditional and fun Mexican cultural songs. This place has great selection of wine. Only thing that we felt was the cocktails were very sweet, but the food was amazing. It lacked some options Seafood, but other than that, we this place was worth the wait. La Joya is a fine dining Mexican restaurant located at the lobby of the Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach resort. We came here once for dinner during our stay at the hotel and this is one of favourite restaurants. The decoration was very artistic inside and they offered wonderful live music performance at dinner time. The service was okay and food quality was decent. We tried their veggie tostadas with grasshopper, beef tacos, salmon, zucchini and mushroom as well as some house special desserts. Among all the dishes, my favorites in include the tostadas (sweet flavour hibiscus), the beef tacos (the meat is super tender) and the salmon (cooked and flavoured just perfect). All the desserts were mediocre though. Overall, I was quite satisfied with my dinner at this fine Mexican restaurant especially it was a memorable experience first time eating an insect. This is a more "upscale" Mexican restaurant with a fairly extensive menu. There are hot and cold appetizers, soups, salads, as well as main dishes here. I ordered the fish aguachiles, tacos al pastor, and the pork rib in mole sauce. The aguachiles were refreshing and tasty, although I personally could have had a little more heat. The tacos al pastor were ok, but I think the meat could have been seasoned a little bit more. The pork rib was tender and as someone who isn't a fan of mole, I thought it was really flavorful and cooked well and the mole wasn't overpowering. There is a mariachi band that goes around and plays throughout the evening at each table, so be prepared if you don't like mariachi, but this is still a lovely restaurant. Five star food and service. The goat cheese salad with roasted figs and mango sorbet was awesome. So refreshing and tasty. Nice size portion with a nice mix of ingredients. The cheese quesadillas with smoked chilli Guacomoli was delicious. A great combination of flavor. The Sea Bass with spicy mayo and creamy cilantro rice was tasty and full of flavor. The fish was extremely tender. For dessert the Chocolate Fondant filled with Tequila cream and vanilla ice cream was mouthwatering. Perfect sized portions. Located inside the Fiesta Americana Coral Beach resort this is their Mexican theme restaurant. The decor reminds me of being outdoors with cherry blossoms and it's a very intimate atmosphere. You have to have a reservation (it's the same For every other restaurant on the property) . They do have mariachi playing however during our visit the mariachis came around the time we finished out dinner. We were presented with a few other options that were not on the menu one of them was the Chile En Nogada- a traditional dish that resembles the Mexican flag . The best part was the muscle hot appetizer which had great flavor and the little broth/sauce was a treat in its own. The trees with pink flowers and lights are scattered across the place and feels good to sit right under them. They have a couple of options for vegetarian food. So I've been vegan for the past month - having a hard time finding anything that doesn't have fish, chicken, beef or pork. Wow. What a great venue. So disappointed with the food, wine and drink. The white wine was passable "Topacio" Chardonnay. The red wine Matinal Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile was the worst ever. I've tasted better box wine than this. The tuna xec was really good and sweet with the mixed fruit. The appetizers were ok but the jamón was food hazard bad. The steak tampequena was tender and tasted good but the decomposed the whole plate and missed the point of eating all the flavors together. That's the point of steak tampequnena. There are two dozen places I would eat before I came here again. Sorry guys you could do better and I hope that's the way you take this review. During our stay at Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach in Cancun we were able to partake in a specialty offering called "The Table" this is only offered on special nights at 8pm. It lasts about 90min. You are seated to enjoy a projection of the history of Mexico at your table. The chef comes out and brings out about 10 courses of small tapa style food paired with wine/margarita/special water/tequila of various offerings. (You will be full at the end I promise.) I tried to make notes of each course but at the end simply asked if they could provide me a copy of the menu which they happily obliged. The chef even signed it. (I tried the restaurant on a separate evening and found the service to be very slow and the food not as good so my personal experience during the "Table" experience was much better. ) This offering can be reserved even if you are not a hotel guest since there entrance is at the main level. read more

My husband and I had a great experience in la Jolla. I must say that eating good Mexican food in the hotel area in Cancun is difficult as most restaurants are fast food to attract the american tourists. The whole experience was pleasant and nice. The whole staff were incredible polite and helpful. We were impressed by the decoration inside and the good sound system. Our server really took care of us, he gave us very good recommendations and was very helpful and attentive. The food was incredible, we loved everything so much. On just a three night stay we ate dinner here - twice. Lots of other options, mind you. First night I had the pork barbacao, wife has the chicken mole. Both exceptional. The second night she had the Trio Cameron and I had the mole. Two of the best meals we had while in MX. Interestingly, they project art and music videos on the walls as entertainment, really well done. On the first night a 8-piece mariachi band strolled through for maybe 20 min. Second time here and it is not disappointing at all. The service is immaculate, the food is amazing...I tried Chicken with Mole sauce, and beef Tiqan' something. Those both were amazing. First time trying the Mole sauce and I loved it! The ambient is really soft and amazing the second time. The first time was a mariachi band playing which is not too bad at all. They are also known for tequila tasting, which I did not get the chance to do (was there with kids and all). Stayed at the hotel this restaurant is in and had to try it since we were told it was a good place for dinner. We started of with a sample appetizer which was great. Every single piece on the plate was delicious and I would recommend it so that you can try different flavors. We had some camote chips on the table that are really sweet potato chips and had three different kinds of salsa which two of them were really good. For our main meal we ordered two fish plates since we had eaten so much meat throughout the day we had to have something different. My fish was cooked well and had excellent flavor and my gf fish was also well cooked and was more on the bland side but everyone has different taste buds so it might be great for someone else. The service was excellent and the entertainment was very nice. I personally love to listen to the guitar and they had three of them playing and singing which was great. The restaurant wasn't very busy when we came so we were well taken care of. Almost forgot. We also did a tequila tasting for two earlier in the day at this restaurant and had a wonderful experience. Our host was very eloquent and knew so much about the fermentation process and seemed to really enjoy tequila. It's great to learn about the different types of tequila from someone so knowledgeable. We tried 3 different kinds and learned how to properly drink them. You're not supposed to take shots to enjoy the tequila. read more

La Joya was by far the best meal my family had in Cancun. We ordered tortilla soup and tuna appetizers. We both ordered the fish fillet which was amazing with the sauce, vegetables and rice. Dessert I had the sorbet and my husband had the tres leches cake. My daughter had the chocolate ice cream. It was all wonderful. They had accidentally brought me the rice pudding and quickly brought me the correct dessert but the rice pudding was yummy too!! The entertainment was so fun-a very lively mariachi. La Joya positions itself as an upscale Mexican restaurant in touristy Cancun. Located in the aging Fiesta Americana on the older section of the beachfront "strip". La Joya is gorgeous restaurant with exceptional service. Our every need was catered to. One nit, the wine list is not organized well. We enjoyed some Mexican wines for the first time ever. They weren't anything to write home about but we wanted to see what they were about. The live mariachis were probably the best we've ever seen and we had two mariachi fans in our group. The big problem was the food. In Mexico and a restaurant that bills itself at the top of the food chain, I expected much more. The aguadito of fish (sort of like a ceviche) was great. The seafood soup was bland and unremarkable in any way. The chicken mole was also a big let down. I was expecting a home run and it basically got to second base. Everyone in our party was left wanting more from the food. Aside from presentation the food just let us down. read more

Great in every way - food was delicious - fresh and flavorful. Mariachi band - amazing. Ambience is classy and beautiful with lights , projectors showing different scenes. I didn't stay in this resort, but I wish I had. I went here on a Friday morning for breakfast, and it was incredibly worth it. 900 pesos for two people (roughly 43 American dollars). It's a buffet, but they will also make you a custom omelette, or a smoothie with whatever you'd like in it. The service was amazing, the view is fantastic, and after staying at several all inclusives, I can state for a fact it's the best buffet I've had in Cancun. I can't sing this places praises enough. Very nice, open space. Accommodating staff, very helpful. Mariachi was impeccable! My goodness, their voices! It was not noisy or crowded and they give you the privacy you need. Service is appropriately timed. They also offered for us to stay for tequila tasting all on the house, all out can drink. This was very tempting but we had an early morning tour scheduled the next day so we had to turn it down. The food is where I take off one star. I'm not sure what it was, really. We had tried so much good food in Mexico and I suppose it is difficult to compete with all the other places we had tried.
