We took the bus to this very beautiful restaurant that seems to be in the middle of non descript run down streets. It was very worth it. It's beautiful inside and it with plants and clean traditional design. But I don't care about design I care about food. The food was delicious. Wasn't sure about going to an Italian place when so many delicious Mexican options are available, but it fully met any expectations of Italian food including from New York where Italian is second for food. We had octopus salad appetizer, received gratis pesto thin pizza like bread as a side, seafood risotto, and a French style fish fillet stuffed with shrimp and lobster sauce encased in a croissant like pastry crust. Very luxurious although just a tad under seasoned. We really wanted dessert but were simply too full. They seem to make a pleasant show out of the dessert preparation with table side service for some of the shares desserts. Other guests had it and it felt very pleasant. Sometimes the table service is cheesy but here it felt authentic. Prices are quite fair and food stands out big time. One weird thing is they don't have a drink menu. Was told they have a "full bar" and I can get anything I want. Which is as weird as saying "we have no food menu but we have a full kitchen so get anything you like". They're a business. We want to compare what we want, what they offer, and how it fits within our total planned expenditure. Regardless this is worth going to just for the restaurant even if you take a quick bus ride from the hotel zone. read more

This is a charming, Italian restaurant that has stood the test of time. We returned here based on my memory of it 18 years ago and it didn't disappoint. I really wanted to love this place, but the food lacked flavor. The service however was impeccable. I couldn't ask for better service. It was so up to par and definitely above the rest. I ordered the boquinete as my friend did as well. It was underwhelming and I honestly wished that I had ordered something else off of the menu. This place is amazing!! There's a reason why is one of the oldest ones in Cancun!! The food is great and the environment is welcoming and homey. Everything we ordered in my opinion, was delicious! We ordered the filete mignon con romero, pasta Alfredo with chicken, pepperoni pizza, Res con hongos y salsa de vino tinto, and something else which I can't remember what it was. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection as always. The only thing I'd have to say, is that the food takes FOREVER to come out. It took us about 40 min to get out food. Such a great find in Mexico. The hotel recommended it last year and I couldn't wait to go back on my visit again this year. Food is amazing and so is the service. The staff is so helpful with questions about the menu and they make you feel like part of the family with appetizers and after dinner shots on the house. We found this place after searching for something different from all the places in the hotel zone. Our concierge tried to persuade us from taking the bus downtown by saying it would take an hour, but it only took 20-30 minutes from the JW Marriott. The restaurant staff was amazingly attentive. Charming little restaurant in downtown Cancun. Great service and excellent food. I started with the caesar salad and followed up with the pasta trio. In between all of this they start you with a complementary pate, then a thin type pizza bread. After you meal you are offered a complemenatry drink, I had a small shot of irish cream. Coming back to LDV : It looks small restaurant from outside but has lot of space inside. We visited this place 3 times during our 4days stay in Cancun. Undoubtedly the best food for best price. One of, if not my favorite Restaurant in Cancun, we have been patrons for over 25 years and never had a bad experience. The food is excellent and the service as well. Upon arrival, we were greeted by our attentive and helpful server. We were also poured our drinks and given complimentary brushetta. This restaurant has excellent service and food. I and my wife are on our honeymoon and this nice place catches our eyes with its lovely decoration and warm atmosphere. The attendant was very kind to introduce their menu with pictures. That definitely helped as we had little idea what the menu items meant. A meal at Dolce Vita capped off our recent vacation in Cancun and it couldn't have been better! From start to finish the food was wonderful. My family of four decided to try this place after reading the great reviews and it being close to the hotel we were staying at downtown. My husband wanted Italian and I wanted seafood, so I felt this would be a good compromise. Oddly enough, he ended up with seafood and I had the Pork Osobucco which was fall off the bone tender and in a sauce that I eagerly lapped up! It was paired with a a risotto that had good flavour and was cooked perfectly, not too soft or el dente and no starchy taste. The service was nice for a leisurely dinner that was meant to be enjoyed, not rushed. They offer an amuse bouche of bruschetta to start and a nice thin pesto flat bread. The calamari starter may have been the best calamari I've ever had! It was cooked so well it practically melted in your mouth after you broke the crunchy well seasoned coating. I'm careful with my seafood selections in restaurants as I find many have a fishy taste, but I tried my husbands lobster bisque and found myself asking for more as it was not fishy at all. His main dish, the fish shaped thing, was a bit fishy tasting for my liking but he seemed to enjoy it. My son had a simple pasta dish that he liked that was cooked to a proper el dente texture and my daughter had the pasta trio which was rich and a bit too cheesy for her to finish although she did say she liked it, but was too full. Desert for me was a bit disappointing as it wasn't as spectacular as the rest of the meal but still good if you have to end your meal with something sweet. We also enjoyed a very nice sparkling wine and found the prices to be quite reasonable. The total for such a meal that included starter, 2 soups, 4 entrees, 4 deserts, 1 bottle of wine, and 3-1 L bottles of Evian water was $2,272 pesos, so with tip, we paid roughly $200 American! Very reasonable for a nice meal and worth every penny! read more

The service was fantastic from beginning to end and the food made for the best evening of our trip.....we began with a free pate & chips plater to start & a mini pizza bread that was out of this world & topped with olive oil, garlic & pesto !! Our soup & Caesar Salad were outstanding and our appetizer size pastas were a perfect size & so fresh !! Then to top it off we shared a fresh limoncello cheesecake that was perfecto !! From the moment I got to Dolce Vitta, I felt right at home. The beatifully served complimentary bruschetta was a nice touch. I booked through facebook, which meant free dessert apparently (tiramisu), and they were very hospitable as well. I had to cancel 2 previous reservations before this one and they were happy to have me the third time. They EVEN loaned me a phone charger since I needed my navigation on my phone and it was almost on 0% battery life. I don't understand how anyone can give this place less than a 5. The service was impeccable, a perfectly paced culinary experience, nothing is rushed. As you sit down your are served with the first complimentary dish, a bruschetta. A few minutes later, a menu. With the carpaccio we at got free flatbread with pesto and bread. With the main dishes we got garlic bread, and the Flambe show at the end (a 2 people dessert with a show for 10usd) was fun. Then when we asked for the bill, we got free drinks (out of a selection) and a small snack. This place has been here for 35 years, and they are working hard as if they just opened. We were tired of eating Mexican food every day and found this place on yelp. What a great find! It was a few minutes drive from our hotel. It wasn't too busy. The service was very efficient, good very tasty and reasonably priced. 1 of the owners (Spanish guy) was visible at all times walking around making sure everyone was enjoying themselves. We were given free bruschetta before ordering and then free garlic bread with our order. After dinner we were given an orange peel dipped in chocolate which was delish and then the owner came round and offered us an aperitif on the house as a way to say thank you.
