Our best meal in Cancun. Away from the hustle and bustle of the Hotel Zone, my daughter found this quaint and lovely gem in which we, together with my granddaughter, enjoyed a wonderful dinner. The staff was personable and attentive and the food was delicious. Our bruschetta appetizer was probably the best Ive had. The white wine from Spain selected by the owner was perfect. The filet and medallions were tasty and served with a generous portion of mixed vegetables. For dessert we enjoyed tiramisu and a special chocolate mousse cake on which plate was written Feliz Cumpleanos in chocolate. Bella! read more

This place was WONDERFUL. Everything from the complementary bruschetta, to the salad, to the pasta was delicious! They also gave us two or three complementary breads that were very good. We order a bottle of cab sav that was delicious. Service was also phenomenal. Staff were just the right amount of attentive and even gave us complementary dessert drinks. We are staying on the Hotel Zone and had this wild and crazy idea that we would go into Walmart/Sam's Club to look for an underwater camera. We had researched a place for lunch , La Dolce Vita and boarded the bus for town. Got off and walked a block and right into the retaurant. We were the only table filled with the exception of a group of ladies celebrating one of their birthdays. The staff surprised us by bringing a sample bruschetta for a complimentary appetizer. Just darn right yummy! Lots of prime flavors! Then we ordered breaded cheese, lobster bisque, and pizza margherita. Food came in a timely manner, very gracious service and the food was delicious. We shared a half bottle of an Arentinian Malbec that blended it all well. The host also brough us an herbed bread lightly topped with EVOO. After lunch, we split coconut and limon gelato! OH my gosh, just delicious. My husband had a table side prepared Coffee. I highly recommend this retaurant, They are open from 8 am to 11 pm, so there is no reason not to find a good time to go! read more

Some of the best Italian food my husband and I have ever had was in a different part of Mexico, so when we came to Cancún for our honeymoon we thought hey why not?! Through the magic of Trip Advisor & Yelp we discovered La Dolce Vita and oh boy, it did not disappoint. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy, but quite comfortable and romantic. We shared a bottle of wine and a few pasta dishes and a salad. All were delicious! The pasta was homemade and cooked perfectly, and the portions were perfect as well, not too large or small. The most notable feature however, were all the free little extras they included like the brushetta at the beginning of the meal and an after dinner drink of our choice afterwards. The prices were very reasonable and the service was exceptional. Must visit!!! read more

Hard to find but don't give up... it's worth the extra effort. It's a small sign hidden by vines. There is a free parking lot though so feel free to drive yourself. We can't say enough wonderful things about this restaurant and the exceptional service. All the staff was phenomenal but our main server was Ramone. Ramone had a kind way about him and seemed to sense what we might be interested in trying and even suggested some options for our teenager. We ordered every course and enjoyed each very much. The caprese salad was nicely seasoned and they used cherry tomatoes vs sliced tomato which was different but worked well. Something I'm going to prepare at home now. The pesto bread was yummy and hard to stop eating. We ordered three entrees that were very large portions. Grilled shrimp that included linguine and some vegetables; linguine with crab meat; and Tagliata de manzo. All amazing and absolutely no complaints. All well-seasoned and fresh tasting. We ended with the banana flambé which is always nice to watch get prepared at the table. The chef explained the preparation steps and served the warm bananas on a chilled plate with the vanilla ice cream. We liked the option to order a demi bottle of wine since we were driving and of course there's always room for an after dinner limoncello. This place didn't miss a step with service from the white table cloth, attentiveness to filling glasses and the lemon towel after our main course. The restaurant is clean and the staff is as well. We have a new fav place in Cancun and recommend without hesitation you visit this restaurant. Our meal was 2 hrs but we weren't in a hurry and it was a relaxing evening. read more

My girlfriend and I visited la dolce vita in Cancun El Centro. It was nothing short of amazing. Food is fantastic, service is even better. Pedro makes you feel like one of the family. Wine selections feature choices from California to France and South America. It is a small, quaint establishment, perfect for a romantic dinner for two, or a nice family gathering. In the future, no trip to Cancun will be complete without a visit back to one of the worlds best and most heart-warming restaurants. read more

Best food I've had in Cancun (and I've been going there for 20 years). Wonderful dinner had for 4 - less than $40 US per person for dinner, wine, 2 appetizers and 3 desserts. And it was fabulous. I normally gripe when a dinner takes over 2 hours from beginning to end, but it was an enjoyable dinner throughout. Service was impeccable although it took a few minutes before the waitress took the handoff from the maitre de. Can't believe we never ate at the downtown location before, but we had been to the island location a few years ago. As a group we had grouper, pasta, a Mexican chicken dish and shrimp. Great Italian food. We had he tri pasta and the Linguini Fruta de Mar. Both were super and done to perfection. A wonderful surprise to find such authentic Italian food in Cancun. Our meal here was exceptional. The service was out of this world. When we sat down, we were given a pate on the house. We ordered our wine, which they have a great list. Then we ordered Caesar salads. Yummy! They then gave us a flat bread type pizza on the house. I ate the veal parmigiana, amazing. Came with pasta and veggies. My husband ate the seafood puff pastry, forgot the name of it. It was so good. It had a full piece of red snapper in it. We also got the limoncello cheesecake, pretty good. Then they gave us a chocolate covered candies orange peel. They then came by with a liquor cart and gave us a free drink each! As if all this wasn't enough, our waiter walked us across the street to get us the bus. Like I said, outstanding service and food. Will definitely be back when we come to Cancun. read more

Last night in cancun fiancée felt like Italian so hey presto we researched found this little gem. Service is slow but the food and atmosphere make up for it. They start you off with a complimentary bruschetta which is amazing. Starters The calamari was amazing cooked to perfection. The grilled provolone was amazing specially with the mushroom sauce. Now for the main We got the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. Sauce was very tasty but the chicken was dry but the taste of the sauce was so flavorful that the chicken didn't matter. The puff pastry fish was very tasty every bite had a unique fresh taste with a crunch. We didn't get any alcohol but the fresh lemonade was very good. The food is good (not great) but overpriced. All your money goes into the "presentation", so to speak. The place, service, etc. We expected everything to be delicious, but it was a hit and miss. Pizza was very salty and the doe was chewy. Also they serve pepperoni pizza which any serious Italian restaurant shouldn't serve. No such thing exists in Italy. Pasta was ok although not al dente, and not really delicious. Risotto was not creamy enough and also lacked flavour. Deserts were mediocre. The chocolate mouse was not even a mousse but rather a chocolate custard. The creme brulée had so much sugar on top it was like eating pieces of candy. Coffee was simply terrible. They use Nespresso pods and the "barista" has no idea what he is making. Can't distinguish between an espresso, a doppio, and a lungo. Very disappointing for an Italian restaurant. It wasn't all negative, but for the price paid we won't be coming back. read more

We have been going to La Dolce Vita for 33 years. We have never been disappointed. The food is wonderful. The service is great, and the staff is very friendly. In ALL our prior visit(4times a year) Juan has always given us after dinner drinks, this year we have been there twice and none. We going to mention it next week when we go. No matter what we will eat there the food is so good. This year they are serving the brusheta with quail pate, outstanding..worth the trip downtown. Take the R1/R2 bus. read more

This is the second time my wife and I have been to this restaurant so it proves the first time wasn't a farce! This is an amazing restaurant. The staff is warm, friendly and knowledgable. The food is simply to die for! I had the Osso Bucco (sp?) and my wife had the calamari steak...that was not a typo! Calamari steak! After dinner the owner (at least I think he is) comes around with an after dinner drink cart (on the house). The prices are very reasonable and the wine list is good. We will come back here every time we are in Cancun. It has turned into a very special place for us. Love it!! read more

This place s amazing. Not to far from the hotel Zone. Take a bus and it's right next to the bus stop. The food was excellent from appetizer to dessert. The atmosphere is quaint with white table cloth. The service was impressive. I asked for crushed red peppers because our family likes spicy and the manager brought out peppers but also olive oil with habaneros and garlic. The waiter took us to our bus stop after dinner. They gave us free bruschetta as a thank you. They offered a glass of liquor to finish the meal (though we didn't drink anything). They gave us a square of orange dipped in chocolate for the after dinner mint. White table cloth tables. We had a great experience all around. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

This place is great. Nestled into the Downtown street it has a elegant atmosphere and a classic feel. The food was great and the extras were such a treat. They start you off with a little bruschetta bread. Than a pesto pita bread, pizza style with salt and olive oil. We ordered the salad special, caprese salad and the lobster bisque plus two glasses of wine one Malbec, on Chardonnay. Everything was top notch except the bisque was fishy and tasted not so fresh. I am also tough to please the lobster bisque arena. The owner came and talked to us assuring it would not be on the bill. He asked my feelings on it. He was a very sweet gentleman and like how much he cared. Next I ordered the veal Scaloppini, Piccata style (hell dope) and my wife had the Calamari which was ok but could have been crispier in my opinion. Next we had the almond cake that was bomb and at the end they bring you a choice of after dinner liqueurs. This is going above and beyond. We ate here last year and it was the only restaurant we came back to again this year. The service is excellent, the food delicious and I just love all the little extras they give you. Throughout your meal they bring you complimentary things, ie: You get a bruschetta appetizer, ( my daughter got a breaded cheese square which she REALLY liked and wanted more of), a pizza type bread with garlic, butter and herbs, a cheesy garlic bread which is soooo good, carmelized orange peel strips dipped in chocolate and an after dinner drink. I had the house special salad which had arugula and other greens with mango, fig and oranges. It was quite tasty, light and refreshing. I then had the linguine with shredded crab meat, white wine and fresh tomatoes. I did not care for this dish. It seemed a bit fishy and salty. I am not a huge fan of salmon but eat it because it is good for you. I decided to try the salmon in dill sauce and oh my was it good! Even my husband who is not a salmon fan really liked it! It was cooked perfectly, and was so tender and flavorful. It had a very light fish taste to it, not a strong salmon taste, which I guess means it was super fresh. Hubby ordered the marguerita pizza and enjoyed it. My 9 yo daughter had the ravioli of ricotta cheese and spinach and really liked it! We drove there, they do have valet service. Somehow they had our car already pulled up and ready when we left the restaurant! That happened last year too! We also saw a waiter walking back into the restaurant after having walked a patron to the bus stop across the street carrying a stop sign. Like I said, great service. I've eaten at this restaurant several times. It seems to just get better. My daughter and her friends ate there last night. They all said the food was superb. When their meal was complete, it was dark outside, a restaurant employee walked them across the street to the bus stop. Picture six lanes of traffic and a wide landscaped boulevard. We had a group of 11 for dinner at La Dolce Vita, and had a wonderful experience--a great option for Italian when you've had your fill of tacos, etc. It's a small place, so make reservations. We were a bit surprised how far of a drive it was from the Hotel Zone, so allow adequate time and have extra cash for the cab, but it was well worth it. The table for our group was perfect...in the back, with two rectangles pushed together, rather than one long table, so conversation was easy amongst all of us...probably the only time all week we had a restaurant with that set up. Service was definitely (and frustratingly) slow...our meal was nearly 4 hours, and the first 45 minutes or so was just dealing with drink orders, opening wine, decanting (though a nice touch), and serving. We were continually out of water. But once the food started coming, it was all delicious. They also surprised us with a free bruschetta at the start of the meal, and a free bite of something sweet at the end. We had 3 courses, plus wine (we eventually just started serving ourselves the wine), desserts and coffee. What a value--our bill with tip was $44 USD per person and we had a ton of food and wine! read more

The lighting was great, not too dim but not too bright. The prices are very reasonable. The complimentary items are a wonderful added touch.
