I brought my husband in for his first ever massage. He had a stroke 2.5 ago and desperately needed to destress. I was so disappointed that they put him in room 6 because it's right off the waiting room - lots of loud people in and out, phones ringing, and filing cabinets clanging shut aren't my idea of a relaxing spa environment. Had an amazing spa experience - tried the warm stone massage with Lyndsey. It was phenomenal - she has great pressure and it is evident that she is passionate about her work and making sure the clients have a great experience. I am very disappointed with this place. My daughter offered me as my birthday present a mother and daughter facial treatment. The day when we could make it was very important because we were leaving the country for 1 month, so I made the appointment 6 weeks in advance to make sure we reserve the day. I specifically mentioned our request to be in the same room, they accept it and they confirmed it by email and by phone, and then, the day before, they called and say it was a mistake because they can not do facials in the same room. I am very upset , they should have let me know way before that, not the day before, but they did not care! read more

She asks questions to determine what I wanted. They hold their customers in the highest regard and aim to please. I would highly recommend this spa. I have lived in middletown for 8 years, and have been going to la dolce vita since it opened. I love the owner Kris and all the staff. I always feel welcome from the moment I make my appt. Over the phone. I used to live in Cherry Hill so I know a little bit about spas, salons and the minimal standard that needs to be met to be called "good" if not excellent. I have also made the mistake of trying the services of almost "every" spa and salon in a 20 mile radius of my home. This is the best, massages, facials, etc..,love, love, love this place. I got a fantastic 2hr massage with Shelby, who has only been there a month. She did a wonderful job and really focused on the things that bothered me most. My experience with La Dolce Vita SPA Middletown started in 2011 when we moved to this town. It is a long long history. Trying to make the story short, l can say that owner Chris always seemed (and she was until she behaved very rude and l will explain) very sweet and kind. Talking about the SPA services, they did not do an even chemical peeling back in 2011, half of my face was peeled and a large part of the other was not. l did not come back until 2014 to give a new try. This time l requested for another peeling to the new aesthetician (mar 2014) and which name was Chris as well, she was such a sweet person. She explained that due to the time l did not do facials, she needed to "prepare" my skin for 4 months in a row and then she could do the peeling, so l decided to go ahead and scheduled 3 or 4 facials (one per month as recommended). So, for the 5th month, after my "preparation facials" was summer, so when l requested the peeling to be applied, Chris told me that she would not do that because it was summer and my face could be severely damaged. What a disappointment! l decided NEVER COME BACK TO THE SPA. A little after in 2015 l had an urgency to touch up my roots and my son's preschool is 2 blocks far from the Dolce Vita Hair Salon, so l decided to schedule a visit and l did go. At that time, l was working from home and my most important tool was my iPhone where l had my e mail account from my job. So, while l was getting my hair touched up, l requested to the colorist to share with me the Wi-Fi password and in that moment, Christine (owner) showed up and the colorist asked her for the password and then Christine pretended that she went out and came back and said that she could not share with me the password (until here, everything was fine, l understood that), next, l mentioned that nowadays it was very important to have WiFi for customers and specially for those who depend on the phone, to what she answered "hair salons are to relax not to work" (this comment was not nice for me) and then l answered that unfortunately l may not be able to come back due to the lack of internet service and she said right away "you don't have to" AND THAT WAS IT. This is the final. OF COURSE, that sweetness and kindness turned out in an sad reality. l guess she has so many customers and she did not care at all to lose one forever. NEVER EVER coming back of course. But l must say, that l have treated my face since l was 20, so it is so sad to find places like this one. People are so happy with this SPA and l believe it is because they feel very welcome and relaxed, but for deep skin problems this is not the place. Did not have a good experience. Was called in by the owner for a job interview for nail tech. We spoke three times on the phone before the interview. She told me each time not to bring in any supplies as this was just a quick meet and greet and I would not be there any longer than 15-20 minutes and if she wanted to see my work in action she would schedule something in the future. I would be coming from Newark to Middletown and the interview was at 1pm but based on what she said I felt I would be finished in time to pick up my son from school at 3 so I didn't make any other arrangements for him. I arrived on time and we talked for about 15 mins about spa work, my goals and my son. I showed her some samples of my nails that I brought with me that she was delighted with. She told me she was impressed with my work, attitude and professionalism. Then she suddenly said for me to do a gel manicure. I was surprised and concerned about time but kept it to myself; I could get it done. when I asked why I wasn't told this on the phone she seemed amused and said rather snottily "I like to get people in the door and then take them by surprise so I can see how they function under pressure". I thought it was inconsiderate of her not to be straight with me but I agreed to do the work; after all I was there for a job I thought I wanted. Then she led me to a cramped and dirty converted walk-in closet with no ventilation that served as the manicure room. The supplies were disorganized and unlabeled, the nail buffers and files were worn and kept in a dusty little basket and they could not find any cotton for me. In fact they seemed not to comprehend why I needed it. When I asked for a finger bowl the owner looked at me as if I were a slow-witted child and said "We don't use water during our manicures." Oooooo-kay. The girl I worked on was the receptionist and refused to sit still during the whole procedure. As a result her fingers brushed against the inside of the UV machine causing her gel polish to smudge and cure incorrectly. I should have said something as I felt she did this on purpose to gage my reaction and inform the owner but I kept quiet. By the time I was finished I had been there for over an hour. The owner told me I was not done yet and she wanted me to do a spa pedicure. I was forced to remind her that I needed to pick up my son. She asked me nastily "Is your son going to be a constant problem if you get hired here?" I despised her tone when referring to my son. Up to this point I had been agreeable, smiling and polite but now I had had enough and no longer cared what this haughty, self-important woman thought of me. I told her in a warning voice that my son had never been a problem for me or anyone. She said she wanted to schedule another appointment for me to see my spa pedicure ( because "you have to impress me if you want the job!") but I knew I was never again coming back to this place so I politely said "no thank you". She got angry, told me that she was not impressed with anything she saw (not what she said during our talk) and felt that she had wasted her time on me. I shot back that it was MY time that had been wasted and left. I'm the one who traveled there. Her insincerity is why I did not make other arrangements with my son in the first place. Had she been straight with me from the beginning, had a properly stocked and cleaned manicure room then maybe both of us could have had a much more productive day. Her time is no more important than anyone else's. This happened two years ago so maybe things have changed by now but I know I will never set foot in there again. I realize that this is a long story but I am curious to hear what others think of this place. That is no way to treat job applicants. This is not sour grapes talking, and I couldn't make this stuff up. I was lied to, insulted and I WAS NOT IMPRESSED. read more

Disappointing! Booked a massage for my husbands birthday as a surprise with a specific masseuse on Monday after a detailed discussion with the receptionist - but apparently the masseuse no longer worked there and the reception wasn't aware. I wasn't contacted to pick a new masseuse and my husband wasn't informed when he got there. He was super disappointed with the masseuse, told her several times that he needed more pressure. I spoke to the owner twice regarding the experience. She 'sounded' sympathetic but wasn't willing to 'make it right'. Wanted my husband to come back & forth for 15 minute massages to 'test' different masseuses. In no way, does he have time for that. Sad but they've lost both of us as clients after several years. A true testimony of how a business operates is how they handle dissatisfaction. Stinks that the owner couldn't think outside the box, consider our lengthy relationship, or even the profits she would receive from our future services at her salon. read more
