First time here. I was craving Mexican food (which I usually don't) so suggested to my boyfriend we come over here for lunch after picking up some groceries. He had the chile relleno/enchilada combo. I got a bite of the chile relleno. It was delicious! I can't speak for the enchilada but his plate was clean at the end of lunch, so it must have been good. :) I had the machaca and eggs. It was delicious. It came out nice and hot, with a nice array of different colored peppers (including my favorite, yellow!) instead of just boring red and green. I would have liked them sliced a little smaller because they were in long fajita strips, but not a problem. The beans were a little bland (we both added salsa to ours, which helped a lot) and the rice was delicious. Fluffy red Mexican rice is truly one of the great joys of life, though. The tortillas were probably not made from scratch but that's irrelevant. They were nice and warm and perfect for scooping up my lunch. The waitress was attentive and kept our drinks full (we each just had water.) She also asked if we wanted lemon, which was a nice touch that I don't often see. Inside it's not much to look at, no fun murals or decorations, but it was clean. The booths are pretty basic, and comfortable. A lot of the time I tend to get fidgety and uncomfortable because the table is too close to the booth and there's no room, especially if you are, shall we say, generously proportioned, as I am. Didn't get any photos of my lunch because I was hungry and it was delicious, and to paraphrase Fred Willard in "Best In Show", I went after it like it was made outta ham. This place gets one star because the best thing about it was the service. The food however was not even slightly good. Tried the chicken fried steak and let's say put it nicely.... It was incredible. It was easier to break in half with my hands than using the knife and fork. The gravy was watery and didn't have a pleasant taste either. The hash browns were one step away from charcoal. The New York strip steak that was ordered medium was not even close. It was more of a well done to hockey puck than medium. Overall won't be going back. Ambiance was run down and not charming or inviting. For my money I would choose somewhere else. read more

Delightful small restaurant on the Frontage Road east of town in the Foothills area of Yuma. The chips were light and tasty, and their homemade salsa was so good I bought some to take home. The offer of small plates was appreciated and there was still plenty of food. Authentic chile rellenos and enchiladas with fresh tortillas and a rich sauce. We even got some flan to go. Delicious! However I order 3 tamales and they were not wrapped in there shell, which usually they should be served in there shell to help with not drying out. They had hardly any beef in them and they were very very small. 3 tamales cost me $15.01. It was horribly priced considering that was my complete order and came with nothing else. La Doña just opened recently in the old Chicken on the Run building. I've seen it passing by on Frontage and was excited to try it today! I went for breakfast and decided to stray from my usual breakfast burrito order that I typically get from Mexican restaurants. I got the huevos con chorizo and coffee, and my son ordered the waffle with bacon from the small plates menu with some milk. The entire meal came to $15 with tax and all, so it was really very reasonably priced I think! TONS of food! The huevos con chorizo was good! It came with a massive burrito sized tortilla so I could have turned my meal into a breakfast burrito after all, but it was delicious as is. I got a side of beans at the recommendation of my server, Sheila, who was spot on - it was good. (Also, Shelia was an absolute doll! Loved having her as our waitress!) The serving of bacon that came with the small plates was 4 big slices. My only complaint about the food is that the waffle was over cooked and part of it was super crunchy, but my son eats like a bird anyway so he still had plenty of food to choose from regardless. But next time when we come, we will try pancakes for him instead. I can't wait to try the lunch/dinner here! We will be back for sure. read more

Although our waiter was attentive and good, he had a dirty shirt...like he was just doing dishes. Service ...no issue, since COVID, the bar is low. The food came out at all different times missing certain items on the plates. One of the plates had a fly in it. He even told us why did we come here? like why would he even say!! do they not want customers? I was so hoping for a good taco. First they gave us a little basket of stale chips. They charge if you want a refill which we didn't. They weren't good. I ordered a large margarita which was described as a fish bowl, it was not a fishbowl although it was a large round glass. I've had much bigger at other local restaurants. I ordered the crispy tacos. They were ground beef. I'd have preferred chicken but the menu stated ground beef and the waiter did not give me a choice. By the way, the waiter was very nice and very attentive. I like ground beef so I thought, what the heck, I'll go with that. I was served my 2 skinny tacos in pre formed stale shells. The meat was flavorless. Taco Bell does much better! I ordered a ground beef burrito and noticing the words beans and rice in the description, I jumped to the conclusion that the burrito would come with beans and rice. It did not. My plate had one unsauced burrito with a smidgen of lettuce and even smaller piece of tomato. My wife ordered tamales. Bland, tasteless, my wife ate a little of one and left the rest. This new place is open for breakfast on the weekends. I can only comment on breakfast cuz it's the only meal I've had there. I ordered chilaquiles and you get a choice of red or green sauce and how you want your eggs cooked. In my mind I thought traditional chili's is a green sauce so I went with that and traditionally it's a scrambled egg so I went with that. Your choice of sides are fruit cup or beans or some variety of potato. I went with a traditional beans so I basically a traditional plate. And it was awesome! The green sauce is delightful and they let the chips soak in it and get kind of that perfect gooey vibe. The beans are hot with a little bit of cheese on them and the eggs were cooked perfect no brown in the scramble. Next time I'm going to try the juevos rancheros. They also sell breakfast burritos to go in case you're driving by on the way to San Diego or Phoenix. They have a fun little fish tank and they serve beer. They have their own parking lot. I didn't get a chance to look at the restrooms but I'm sure they're in good shape. read more
