I had this ingrown nail that's just been chilling within my toe, and my usual nail salon never took it out, but she did it with such ease and precision, and without evoking any pain or anything! nails came out great, both hands and toes. SERVICE: Very knowledgeable woman who obviously has plenty of experience in cosmetology services. She also has a great knowledge of the products she uses, which are all dermalogica. I opted to upgrade the mini- facial with the addition of extraction. I was a bit hesitant because some service providers are a bit ignorant about the nuances of skin with melanin--applying too much pressure during extractions can cause scarring with hyper-pigmentation. Wasn't an issue here. She was gentle and mindful. ATMOSPHERE: Smaller, intimate place, with two nail tables, a pedicure chair, and a back room for facial and waxing services. LOCATION: This is more West Rogers Park than Rogers park and in very accessible for people on the far north side. There aren't too many spas up this way, unless you want to travel to Evanston, in which case you'll be overcharged. So I trucked it up here after I saw a deal on www.lifebooker.com/referral/sleopold22 I purchased the Signature facial. I pulled up and this "spa" isnt in the best hood, but hey, I will check anything out on a deal. I cant help it. I have deal-itis or spa-itis. I cant help myself!!! The spa doesnt look like much, but it was fine. It looks more like a nail/waxing space than anything. I really wouldnt come here thinking spa...because you will be disappointed. There really isnt much spa-like ambiance. I would really like to give Dorina and her team 3.5, but alas yelp doesnt do halves... The staff is SUPER nice and sweet. Its run by sisters. What I didnt like was that Dorina was running late. I know, patience, BUT I cant help it. I waited for 20 mins after the time my facial was supposed to start. Dorina is so nice and informs you of everything. She wants to make sure you are comfortable, etc. She knew I was stressed to the max and was basically like chill out...HA! I liked her a lot. The facial was good, not great. She uses Dermalogica, which is a great product. She definitely took her time and cleansed, massaged, extracted my face. I was grateful after. Dorina was very nice but my nails came out lumpy. She said "she" made them look like french tips but the reason they looked like that was because I grew out my nails and I picked a sheer color. I am embarrassed to show people my nails now. I had to clean a lot of excess nail polish out of my nails and skin just to make them look a little bit better but you can still tell they are not good read more

I bought 2 no chips on Groupon. It was the WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! Do not go there. Do not waste your money and time. All colors were old, not much choice. Salon was dirty. The owner was talking to phone all time. She doesn't know how to do nails at all. She did ugly manicures. She even doesn't know how to file. It was hurting and i told her several times. Dorina is my good friend's mom so I'm not really sure why I waited so long to get a haircut from her! She came in earlier than she would normally have just to accommodate me and that was greatly appreciated. Like any girl with long hair I get nervous when I sit down for a haircut because usually they cut too much! Dorina really listens to what you want and she checks in with you to see if you are liking it so far instead of just doing what she wants. The place has horrible hours for those of us who work a day job...It closes by 6pm and the latest appointment they would take me was at 5pm. The voucher had expired and my sister who I had gifted it to called the spa to ask if she could use it for the paid value and pay the difference for a service. The owner in a very snide way told her she had no idea what she was talking about and that she would not be honoring anything to do with living social and asked her if she was stupid? So I called Living Social who apologized that La Dorina day spa was not abiding by their guidelines of honoring the paid value of the voucher per the contract she entered into with them. In turn they proceeded to refund our voucher which we just exchanged for a different but definitely more "customer friendly spa". I then proceeded to call La Dorina's Day spa to let the owner know that I would make sure I facebooked,tweeted and yelped about our terrible experience with her and hung up. To which her reply was a 2 minute voicemail where she proceeded to scream at me how she wasn't scared of my stupid self and that I was invisible to her and how I didn't know who I was messing with and she was going to sue me for everything I have. To which when our group of girls finally did get together for our spa day, we had a good laugh listening too. In all fairness we did end up having to listen to it various times, because we could barely understand what it was she was saying, especially after a few glasses of wine. Here's a tip for the owner who thinks this a conspiracy.. As a business owner spelling is key, so you really should learn "how to" when calling people you don't know "losers". Got a great deal for a no-chip manicure on Living Social and made an appointment. Cute little place but easy to miss so google location before heading there. Easy street parking and free parking around the corner. Dorina, the owner welcomed me and gave me my manicure. She offered me coffee and a homemade treat in celebration of National Romanian Woman's Day. After my manicure, I decided to stay for a customized facial. Dorina was very informative and the facial/massage was so relaxing. I ended up trying out the Dermalogica products...hoping to see improvement with my skin in the next week or so. DO NOT GO HERE! This place should be shut down. Dorina was initially very nice and welcoming. I was on my lunch break and called to be seen right away. She had a new employee who was wonderful, however she took an hour for my pedicure just filing and cleaning my nails. No massage no polish nothing. I told Dorina I had to return to work so she did the polish. I then told her I had 45 minutes left for my fingernails. She said she needed an hit for the no chip. She did not do my cuticles, barely filed my nails. She applied the wrong color and when I asked her to change it she said it looked nice and would last longer. I again told her that was not the color I chose and she said don't worry it will look nice. I had to return to work so I did not argue. However when I was at work my coworker told me my nails looked like a child did them. My hands looked like a mess. My toenails were already chipped off. I returned and asked Dorina to do my cuticles and fix my toenails. She was very rude! Told me I would have to pay full price for my nails in order for her just to do the cuticles. She said she would not charge me to redo my toenails that looked awful. When I sat in the dirty chair I saw my slippers redo to be used for someone else. I asked why she did u not throw these away and she said she had a feeling I would return! LIAR!!! This place is dirty. Uses old dirty files, does not clean equipment! I had to soak my hands and feet in acetone the next morning because my hands and feet were swollen and looked infected.this place should be shut down! read more

I came across this spa driving around the neighborhood, since I work in Marketing its hard for me to find a great place around my area that will accommodate my schedule, I need to get a facial done and a massage, when I walked into this place I felt like a was home right away! The place was very cozy and very relaxed, Dorina was very friendly and help me out right away offered me coffee and told me to wait while she was finishing up a pedicure in the spa room!
