I used to work in Brickell a couple of years ago before moving abroad and I would order breakfast from here every day. I would always get the omelette saludable with tostada cubana and cafe con leche. For the afternoon coffee break, I'd always order a cuatro leches or pan de bono! This place has its good and its bad but overall it offers good food for a reasonable price and the portions are big. If you work in the area, the cantina options are great. If you eat clean, not so much. The food is tasty and very close to authentic Colombian food, especially their ajiaco. I've been to many Colombian restaurants in Miami and this one by far has one of the closest versions of authentic ajiaco in town, aside from Mondongos. They also offer sancocho de gallina during the weekend for those who don't like it with meat. All in all I like this place a lot and my obsession with their empanadas makes me overlook a lot of aspects that they could work on. While the service is not that bad and the staff is friendly, there seems to be lack of communication at times which is evident to the customers when you're waiting in line and can sometimes come across as unprofessional. This place is not bad for a casual breakfast. I do enjoy their arepas (the yellow, sweet corn style) with some coffee in the morning. A little pricey but it's Brickell, so I understand. Don't expect a fancy interior when you walk in. It literally looks like a elementary school cafeteria lol, with the hairnet wearing lunch ladies and all. It helps to know a little Spanish here, or come with a Spanish speaker as the employees don't really speak English, mostly only the cashier does, not the ones serving the food. I was lucky enough to be with my Colombian boyfriend. So that helped. I had an odd experience here one morning when I asked for the bathroom key, an employee said she would walk me over. As we were approaching the door, I noticed she opened it, and I thought she was opening it for me, but then she went in herself! Hahahaha it was really rude but at the same time kind of funny. It was literally like "oh you need to go to the bathroom? oh okay I'll show you where. Here it is, you can go after me." But all jokes aside, this place is worth a try if you're looking for something quick. It's pretty good for meat lovers too, because they have a lot of meat options. This guy who answers the phone and takes orders sucks at customer service. Over an hour wait for my food to be delivered somewhere they have already delivered before. Called to see why it's taking over 1 hour to get my food and he starts to find excuses. I am at work so i have a a set lunch time. He tells me to wait 5 min past my lunch time to get my food that I will have no more time to eat it heck even cold by the time it gets here. Once I call back to cancel the order, he tells me just to never call back again from that place again and hung up on me. This is not how Colombians treat the public or each other. I'm not an avid reviewer and have really only done a couple for places I've enjoyed but my experience was so awful that I just felt compelled to actually write my first poor review because I would so not recommend this place to ANYONE! I was actually walking to the pizza restaurant next door when I walked by the window of La Estacion and got curious as to what they had to offer - boy do I wish I would've just kept walking.... This place is one of those where you pick what you want, kind of like a blue plate special or for us Latinos it similar to Blue Sky but with much less options and organization. To start with when you walk through the door you walk right smack directly to the food counter (which had about 10 people behind it just standing there doing nothing). There were absolutely no menus or signs directing you as to what they were serving (which wasn't that big a deal because I'm not an idiot I could see what they had), there was no direction as to how to order (which was a big deal because I had no idea what or how much I could get...did I get to pick a protein and a couple of sides or was it all a la cart - best part of it was that the girl serving me had no idea either), and of course there were absolutely no prices posted anywhere either (which is why I paid $20.85 for a chicken thigh, a spoonful of corn, some rice, a tamale, and a drink) I was floored when the cashier told me how much the total came out to be - but rather than making a scene I just paid and went on my way (It was take out by the way). So the whole walk back to work I couldn't help but to feel like I had just been swindled somehow, but I optimistically hoped the food would be delicious and therefore worth it... NOT!!!!!!!! Let me just state and clarify that I really don't mind paying $$$ for good food but this was NOT good food by any means. The chicken was dry (HOW IS A CKN THIGH DRY), the corn was greasy, the rice had a weird taste and was a little hard, and the tamale, well lets just say I would not feed it to my dog because it tasted like crap and even worse I cannot get the smell of it out of my office!!!! So for all of these reasons I felt compelled to document and share my experience at La Estacion, and hopefully it will help the next poor curious and unsuspecting person walking by. However, it's a very nice and cozy fast food kinda cafeteria with reasonably prized options for food and drinks. I like the ambience as it gives a homely feeling. Been several times though typically with friends who speak Spanish. Coffee is good. Service incompetent though you might be fooled by all of the commotion behind the bar. Ordered a "saludable"egg scramble which clearly states it contains spinach and mushroom on the menu and was handed a scramble with processed ham and onion after a 10 min wait. Asked in my broken Spanglish to exchange for what I indeed ordered but no cigar! The somewhat nice cashier feigned ignorance when I pointed out on the menu what the "saludable" scramble has spinach and mushroom - and basically said this is what you get. Clueless.
