I retiro of restaurant is well design for giving it a real estancia feel to it. Staff a friendly and knowledgeable. Cocktails are really, really, REALLY good! Tell the waiter/waitress what you like and he/she will help you pick the right one for you. Mine was a hibiscus and Mezcal drink that was refreshing and tasty. The empanadas are great, four flavors to choose from. I did ham and cheese and the veggie option both were good. For main course I spoilt the Estancia Parilla with my companion. The chicken, sweetbreads, Argentinian sausage and steak were allprepared well but lack a bit of flavor and when I asked for chimichurri they didn't have any! What kinda of Argentinian place doesn't have chimichurri?!!!?! Would def go back for a drink and appetizer not sure about full meal. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!! This place deserves 0 stars. Came on a Thursday night per a friend's recommendation. Food is not too bad. Cute decor. THE PROBLEM IS THE BILL. You can barely read what you were charged for, then the total was handwritten with the words "tips not included." The waiter / cashier, M Antonio and Sol then informed us that for credit card payments it's an additional 15% charge...WTF and with tips??? The biggest problem was when we added the total bill, it was *not* correct as we were charged almost $300 pesos over, while one of the above people was standing over our shoulders harassing and rushing us to pay quickly, in fear of our calculations discovering their dishonesty. Such a gorgeous and delicious spot for breakfast in Tulum's centro. We were heading to Del Cielo, which was quite packed when we arrived. But we remembered that we had passed La Estancia Jujena, which had looked gorgeous as we passed. And I'm so glad that Del Cielo was busy. La Estancia Jujena is gorgeous. It's an open air restaurant that looks more like a courtyard than a restaurant, with flowers and trees everywhere. Even the table settings and plates and coffee service was beautiful! The restaurant serves Argentinian food, which I'm not very familiar with! I tried their cazuela - a dish of eggs cooked in a terra cotta pot. It was delicious. Quite delicious. This meal - chosen by accident as it was - ended up being one of our more memorable in Tulum - I'd eat there again if we're back in Tulum without hesitation. read more

My friend and I didn't have a plan but I was craving empanadas. This was near our hotel and open so we decided to stop in. Our waiter seemed a little rude and rushed us to order, which was ironic because getting our bill was slow. I had questions about their drinks and he seemed irritated to answer me. My friend picked out a pizza and of course I got the empanadas. The empanadas were average sized but pretty good. Pizza was also good but nothing special. These guys must have changed their tune from the reviews a few months ago because even though they were very busy, our food arrived relatively quickly and the pizza was delicious. The steak was a little more bland than I am used to - but keep in mind most US food is loaded with salt to add flavor. Drinks were fantastic. To eat: Caprese - SO yum. They add their homemade pesto on top and it's paired to perfection. Top sirloin steak - for 220 pesos you can get a decently sized steak which is the way to my heart. The owner was there and not once glance over to our table. The place wasn't even packed! A couple of parties came and went & all we got was a round of beers. Good food and drinks, albeit a little pricey! Went here for lunch. We ordered a margarita and a drink that was made of tequila and hibiscus juice and they were prepared really well. The guacamole was pretty tasty as well and was served with sweet potato / yam chips instead of traditional tortilla chips. Ordered the rib-eye steak and the vegetarian empanadas for entrees. I'm so glad I wondered into this place after walking the whole avenida with my handsome!!! We stopped to have a few drinks and I must say the drinks are spectacular!! This restaurant is located in the trendy downtown area of Tulum. A hipster but very local area near PDC. I had a chicken skewer that came with salad, I added a baked potato which came with a nice garlicky sauce and enjoyed a house wine with my meal. The ambiance is romantic and warm but very rustic and trendy. A place to visit if you're looking to not have any Mexican Food. The owners are very nice and every table was full. We started with empanadas, unfortunately they were out of the meat ones. I like the mushroom one. The meat is very good, portions are good, I had the flank steak, my friends had the half sirloin. Portions are big and good value for money. Surprisingly service was slow. There seemed to be one waiter, a bus boy and the owner. They really need a second waiter. There was a DJ which was odd when they needed more wait staff. While walking in Tulum, we came in here to take refuge from the heat. Drinks are offered at 2 for 99$pesos. The sangria is amazing. Very refreshing, light, bright, beautiful, and delicious! We came here in search or the perfect brunch and left very satisfied. The decor is boho/shabby chic and the food is presented in the same way. My coffee came in a vintage mug with the tiniest macaron on the side and a heart shaped sugar cube. sigh. We had the gluten free banana pancakes, which we understand were gluten free and healthy but they were a little lackluster and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 . We had a walk after eating at Don Cafeto and knew we'd have to stop by for breakfast the next morning, and we did! There weren't many vegan options (aside from plain toast) so I settled for eggs and potatoes. It was divine. Prices INSANELY cheap for quality and atmosphere. Think solid meal at cute cafe in bougie Los Angeles but for less than $10. I will say that it's more French themed than authentic Mexican. We stumbled, literally, because the sidewalks in pueblo are a mess!, into this place and were so happy. What a cute little spot - all shabby chic with that open-air Mexican flair. Unmatched chairs, various textures and picture frames, a wood-burning clay oven... beautiful and hip. We were seated immediately upon our 7:30 a.m. arrival and were brought menus. Coffees ordered, we asked if it was possible to take food to go. (All asked in Espanol.) Si, si we were told. So we ordered a continental breakfast, two chocolate croissants and a ham and cheese sandwich to go. Our coffees arrived and could the presentation have been cuter? Nay. Adorned with a miniature alfajore, star of sugar cube and flower, I almost didn't want to drink it! With fresh steamed milk, we gulped the coffee down (and had two refills!) However, our food showed up not to-go but instead to eat-in. At this point, my wife had to leave in order to change our daughter because we didn't bring a diaper bag (yes, we 'live on the edge' as parents and assume even a 15-minute trip won't need a diaper bag!) Once she came back, we ate and finished our coffees. Service was fine. The food DID take a bit to come out, but we weren't in a hurry - and we noted a sign near the entrance, "Slow food."
