We had a very nice meal here on our first night in Rome. The Cacio e Pepe was very creamy and the Amatriciana was so full of flavor! The mango spritz was very sweet, kind of just like juice, so definitely not traditional but still tasty. We sat at tables outside on a cute and quiet street. Service was pretty standard for Europe. Got lost looking for an address in Rome and finally gave searching. Our search ended right smack in front of this classic restaurant. It was busy and we were tired and hungry, so we decided to stop here and it turned out to be a great, inadvertent choice. We decided on a pasta dish and a specialty pizza to share. We ate outside and asked the server to move to another table after a group of six young ladies sitting at an adjacent table decided it would be fun to simultaneously start smoking some very harsh cigarettes. The pasta was amazing; the pizza was different than other pizza we had while in Rome...very light, flaky crust with lots of toppings; in our case we had lots of arugula and Serrano ham among the usual ingredients. When I hailed a cab after dinner the driver said we were not in an area frequented by tourists, that we had picked one of his favorite restaurants. read more

Also on New Years Eve when every other place was closed they made us a great assortment of meats, cheeses, and breads. Also their assortment of desserts look and taste amazing. Our AirBnb host suggested La Fiorentina since their locals and had great suggestions so far we went after our day at the Vatican. It's an awesome place with a wide variety of food with fresh ingredients and pizza was best we had on our trip. We had a really nice conversation with a local couple in Italian (we don't speak italian! ). But they were so friendly it made our day. Many reviews here say the service is terrible but i think Americans are judging based on walking into a Chili's or something. We definitely waited for a second beer and asked for the check 2 times but you're sitting on an outdoor patio enjoying the people walk by and you're in ROME! Good morning Rome! Waking up on our first morning in Italy we were craving pastries. The Yelp app delivered us to La Fiorentina, located just a short walk from our stay. Once we got close you could smell the difference in the air, it smelt amazing and it lead us straight to the cafe. I was impressed with how large this cafe/restaurant was. I was half expecting a small corner cafe that fit only a few guests, boy was I wrong. I probably would have given this place five stars but ordering was super confusing, at least for an American. There was a long line when we arrived so we went towards the back. We waited at the counter and got ignored. Finally we figured out that you pay at the front first and then go to the counter with your ticket. We ordered plain croissants, and chocolate croissants. The chocolate ones were filled with Nutella and super sugary. I ordered two but after the first one my teeth were hurting. I believe they brush the outside with honey which was a unique touch. Since we are so close I assume we will be back, espically since the croissants were only $1 and some change. read more

The first time I went, I had the seafood risotto, prosecco, and pistachio gelato. The food was AMAZING. I realize I am from the USA, but this was definitely the best risotto I ever had. My dad ordered the lasagna, which is made with a béchamel sauce, and he said it was the best lasagna he's ever had. I would've given four stars alone for this first time visit! We were so impressed we decided to return a second night, and that was a mistake, hence docking a star. I ordered the prosecco, arancini, and cacio e pepe (made with pici pasta). I felt these items fell short of places where I've eaten in the USA. The arancini was a bit dry, and the pasta's sauce was pretty thick. I realize this is part of the dish, but I didn't know ahead of time pici pasta was used. Oh well. The restaurant was very busy each time. The first night the waitress took about 20 minutes before coming to our table. She apologized and we understood, but don't arrive starving LOL! The second night was a bit calmer, but a man passed out twice. I didn't see it (dad had a better view), but there was a bit of chaos. My dad said the man seemed embarrassed after the first time, but the family didn't really seem to care. My dad was shocked the family didn't do anything to prevent the second fainting. Oh well. If I am in the area, I'd return again for the risotto, lasagna, gelato, and the pastries (regretfully didn't try). Skip the pasta. You are probably better off at Bella Napoli not too far away (and closer to the Ottaviano train station) for pasta! read more

The pasta amatriciana was wonderful. We went back twice on our 6 day visit to Roma. The pizza is quite good too. Yes, the service is not the best but it is what it is. The food is worth the hassle. We found this after we became lost in Rome looking for a pizza place we saw on the Food Channel. We are so glad we did! We ordered the Valtellina pizza and it was the best pizza we had in Italy. The crust was amazingly thin and crusty covered with mozzarella and scamorza cheeses. The protein was this thick salty bresaola ham topped with tasty slices of parmesan and arugula leaves thrown in for a splash of green. The place is near the Prati neighborhood not far from the Vatican on a major street, so it won't be hard to find. It's not a tourist place so be patient trying to communicate in English, our waiter spoke very little. But, he was attentive and somehow we got everything we wanted. After you're done, stroll across the street to the market and pick up everything from pastries to canned goods or a sports coat. read more

Came in with the wifey and her parents. Just did a myriad of desserts and coffee. Everything was good but not wow. I would say their Baba-au-rum was the best dessert we had. The cannoli was not as good as Mike's in Boston. The chocolate cake (home made) was a little too sweet for our taste. I dont remember the names of a couple of the other desserts. All were good but not great. Anything here would be considered great in the states. Yelped a place to eat after our day at the Vatican Museums. This place was only a 5 minute walk away so we decided to try it out. We sat ourselves in the patio area because there was no one outside to greet us when we walked to the entrance. After about 10 minutes, someone finally came to check on the three other tables that were seated outside and noticed us sitting there. We got our menus and in another 10 minutes, our waiter returned to take our order. He spoke English pretty well so that was convenient. We ordered 1 starter and 2 main dishes. The starter took about 5 minutes to arrive, which was great. Forgot the name but it was a bunch of deep fried zucchini strips, fish, and other veggies. It went well with the beer. The main dishes took another 15 minutes to come out. My boyfriend had a pizza (€8), and I had a risotto (€13, and one of the specials of the day). I took one bite of my food and immediately knew I wasn't going to finish the rest. The risotto was dry, chewy, and I couldn't taste anything except smoke. Rather than wait another 15+ minutes for a new meal, I shared my boyfriend's pizza instead (which was average). 15 minutes after we finished eating, our waiter returned and took our plates. No offer to see a dessert menu, even though it was a bakery known for its pastries. My boyfriend had to ask for one. I ordered the puff pastry with mixed berries (€8,5) and that is worth 2 stars of this review. It was amazing and plated beautifully. This was our go to place when we were in Roma. We had many different items from their menu. The pizza was nice and crusty, pastries and coffee excellent. The gnocchi was made with ricotta cheese which had a different texture and flavor. It was only ordered once during our trip. My husband and I visited this restaurant 4 times while we were in Rome. Twice for dinner, once for breakfast and once for dessert. We were happy every time. We ordered the mixed grill (eating rubber) a couple of the house specials and drinks. the service was very poor. The food was overcooked and the worst part of all is that they charge a service fee ----a standard tip approx 13%- we were only 5 adults and it was never mentioned until bill was reviewed. Service was nowhere near to justify any tip at all (missing items were the least of problems). Tips are not even required in Europe. My feeling this is a scam for tourist!!!!! stay away from this restaurant. To many local places to put this tourist trap out of business. Great for breakfast, lunch and dinner... This place has been around for quite some time. The Café and the restaurant are next door to each other and both offer a big variety of delicious treats and meals. The Café offers a great deal of sweet and savory pastries (both big and small), cakes and desserts. Also the restaurant has a quite vast menu. They offer from pizza, to traditional Roman dishes, Seafood, meat and of course, great desserts. The service is not to bad either. In all these years I never had a bad experience. I like it so much that basically every time I go to Rome, I have to come here at least once. The area itself is not to bad either. It is not to far from the Vatican, there are nice shops not too far from there and it has several Metro and bus stations close by. read more

Warning they will try to trick you with the bill. We were in 2 just having pizza for dinner and they added €6.50 service charge! Don't ever pay a service charge they are not allowed. In fact told them I'm not paying that and the girl give me a new bill right away. I don't like to be taken advantage of! We have been to Fiorentina numerous times, never spending less than 200€, and often stop in for takeaway sweets and wine. After the way we were treated today by Nunzio and the bus boy, we will never return. We were purposely ignored for more than 20 mins, and talked down to about our usual seating preference in an empty section of the restaurant. I was actually shocked by how brazenly rude the bus boy was, and how committed to ignoring us Nunzio was as well. It's a shame, I enjoyed the previous visits but will NEVER return. read more
