    Boiled Shrimp
    Timia W.

I was kinda surprised at how pleased I was with my visit. I walked in and placed an order and it was out within 10 mins or less. While I waited I was offered water! The restaurant was clean. The cashier was nice. I was able to order in half pounds and not just a whole pound which I appreciated. I got boiled shrimp with the head on at the level medium and the Cajun and garlic flavors combined. Super tasty. It was hot, had my nose running. My only gripe was online it says we can call in and order but I think the line was disconnected or went straight to voicemail. Other than that, no notes. I'll be back!

Today was a hot sunny day and we had a taste for seafood. We loaded up and drove down to LA Fisherman. We expected it to be crowded and a wait but the wait wasn't too bad, about 30 minutes. We got in and ordered our food immediately. The waiter said their cooler wasn't working so he could bring me a beer with ice. But they had corona that was cold so I took that. We ordered shrimp, sausage, potato, corn and 1 boiled egg in the medium, house special. My son ordered fried alligator. We had 2 drinks. Our waiter took forever with our order. Over 30 minutes but we didn't have anything to do so we waited. Once we finished eating, no refills were brought, we didn't see him at all until we had to flag him down. We ended up waiting about 20 more minutes for him to bring the bill. Some people were going up to the counter to get refills and to go bags. Not sure why the wait staff was not milling around, it wasn't that crowded so we should have seen them. The food was good and hot and spicy but the service was horrid. We would have ordered more drinks if he showed up more often.

So, we ended up at LA Fisherman on Highway 6 for the first time, and let's just say, it'll probably be our last. Overall, we'd generously rate it a 2/10 , and that's purely for the flavor and heat. The crawfish were tiny , with the one in the picture actually being one of the larger ones. Way too many were mushy, missing tails, crushed or just loose claws. Definitely not the experience we were hoping for. For now, we'll be sticking to our go-to spots, Hank's and Bayou Seafood & Wings. But we're always on the hunt for great crawfish, so if you have any recommendations, drop them in the comments! We'd love to check them out!

You cannot place online orders or call in orders at this location. Otherwise service was great when we arrived they were prompt with taking our orders, and even offered us water while we waited. The boiled shrimp was not that great i ordered the house special i think it would've been better without the lemon pepper. The sauce had a muddy texture which i was really a fan over. Overall, everything was just okay.

a chunk of knife or blade.

8/19/25 We dined in. The food itself was good, we both ordered fried shrimp, and my Bf added the seafood boil with sausage and corn along with it. We enjoyed it overall. Customer service was decent; The waitress wasn't very attentive, but a gentleman (manager or chef, not sure) came around to check in, which I thought was nice, BUT now looking back on it maybe it was to see where his knife bit went! We werent able to finish the half pound of sausage so we took it home! Next day im eating and find the edge of a knife bit in a piece of damn sausage. At first, I thought it was just really crispy but then when i bit down i was like wtf is this a rock so i spit it out and volia! a chunk of knife in my sausage, boy was i disappointed, and man was i more disappointed that we didnt find it while we was there!! anyway, becareful when you order food at LA because you never know when there will be a knife bit in your food! The knife bit looks worned down and like it was used over the stove too plenty of times. I dont think it was purposely placed but accidentally broke off. I understand this is an older restaurant, but safety should never be overlooked. Replacing damaged/worned tools and silverware is basic kitchen practice. This could've been avoided completely, and worst someone couldve gotten seriously injured. Do better! the flavor is too good for a review like this!

Just to add to my bad review when I got done their main pictures is even of a toilet?! This is bad Managment overall at this place.

This is the second time I have been here. I really wanted this place to be good. But it wasn't.... I had the $60/lbs, King Crab Legs for a Father's Day treat to myself. They were like rubber and tasted horrible. The shell was soft and couldn't even crack. Even the meat was rubbery. From what I'm reading on google that means they could have been bad before they were cooked. I didn't even finish them and just wanted to leave. The positives... the shrimp were good and the sauce was good. I'm pretty sure the king crab was bad. It took forever to find our server again and even close out. I won't be going there again.

Service was good, drinks (soda) were flat, chicken wings gross, spicy but no flavor, boiled shrimp and crab were okay, spicy but lacked flavor, fried fish I do not recommend. I did enjoy the fried shrimp and if I return would only order the fried shrimp.

They even play the football games.

Great food and service as always. One of the best seafood spots in Alief. Check them out.

It was disgusting the crawfish tasted like swamp water. It was overcooked and mushy and had no flavor or heat to it.

I actually drove an entire hour in bad weather just to try it and it was worth every single minute. From the first bite, the flavor was unforgettable. The seasoning is executed to perfection bold, buttery, Cajun-forward with the ideal balance of salt and spice. Rich, well layered, and deeply satisfying. The crawfish were easily some of the best I've ever had: generously sized, beautifully seasoned, and packed with flavor. While a few were smaller, they were still impressively meaty, which speaks to the overall quality and consistency. Every bite delivered that crave-worthy, finger licking goodness. We also ordered the shrimp and crawfish fried rice combo, and fried tilapia and it was phenomenal hands down one of the best fried rice dishes I've had in a long time. The flavors were bold and perfectly infused throughout. Just thinking about it again has my mouth watering. The service was exceptional friendly, efficient, and welcoming. The ambiance has a lively bar-style vibe with music always playing, and they even offer live music at times, which makes it a great spot to dine in. I'm already planning to come back to experience it in person. If a place is good enough to drive an hour through bad weather for, it's doing something right. Mike's Seafood is easily one of the best seafood spots in Houston, and I'll absolutely be back.

Michael, the owner, greeted us and took care of us! We started with the Jumbo Crab Fingers which were really good - I'm honestly not huge on seafood, so I enjoyed these a lot more than I thought I would. Ironically, I'm not big on oysters either, so I ordered the Jumbo Golden Fried Shrimp which hit the spot real good. Large shrimp, well fried, flavored, and the tartar sauce was addicting. The fries that came with it were perfectly seasoned, carrying a bit more of a cajun flavor rather than just regularly salted. My parents definitely enjoy oysters, so they ordered the Charbroiled Oysters and really enjoyed it, as well as the Uni Oyster with Quail Egg. They also got the Cowboy Lobster Shrimp Roll that was gone before I even took a second look their way. We finished the meal with a yummy, dense basque cheesecake! Every customer that came in during our time there was personally greeted by Michael, and it seemed like they were all repeat customers. It was really cool to see that kind of connection, and it really showed how much Michael cares about his customers, and how much we like his food! Indoor seating is a bit limited - all bar stool seating. I rarely comment on the music that a restaurant plays, but I quite liked it! We didn't try the Gulf oysters in this visit but our neighbor said they were delicious and looked huge. Next we had a ribeye steak with pasta and broccoli as the side.
