We didn't want to cook on the holiday so decided on seafood. The restaurant was empty and we were seated right away. Rebecca was our waitress and took care of us. We ordered boiled shrimp, corn, potatoes and boiled eggs. Medium heat which was perfect for me but a little spicy for my husband. I had a beer, he had a soft drink with free refills. The food was pretty good. It wasn't my favorite seafood place but it was good. The service was a little underwhelming. They were very busy so it took a while for our server to come around each time. We had to go up to the counter to get refills and additional items we needed. I was kinda surprised at how pleased I was with my visit. I walked in and placed an order and it was out within 10 mins or less. While I waited I was offered water! The restaurant was clean. The cashier was nice. I was able to order in half pounds and not just a whole pound which I appreciated. I got boiled shrimp with the head on at the level medium and the Cajun and garlic flavors combined. Super tasty. It was hot, had my nose running. So, we ended up at LA Fisherman on Highway 6 for the first time, and let's just say, it'll probably be our last. Overall, we'd generously rate it a 2/10 , and that's purely for the flavor and heat. The crawfish were tiny , with the one in the picture actually being one of the larger ones. Way too many were mushy, missing tails, crushed or just loose claws. Definitely not the experience we were hoping for. For now, we'll be sticking to our go-to spots, Hank's and Bayou Seafood & Wings. This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem. I ordered 2 lbs of shrimp, 1 lb of crab, sausage, corn and potatoes. My daughter had 2 lbs of shrimp and the fried fish. The food came out quickly and was seasoned to perfection. There's no fuss or frills here. Just great food at reasonable prices. The restaurant is clean and compact- but not too tight to be uncomfortable or crowded. The tables are covered in paper and they give you a plastic bib and gloves if you need them. The food comes out in plastic bags that you can dump on the table or eat out of the bag. The fresh garlic, spices, seasonings and butter all blend together to make the food taste heavenly. I had a pickup order and got my food in store. The service was okay. The workers were not rude I guess, but they were not particularly nice or friendly either. I always go to this place because my family has been getting seafood here for years, but the quality is really iffy. Specifically, the crawfish was bad this time and it still crawfish season. I was craving crawfish & crab legs and decided to go to my favorite spot, LA Fisherman. It's been about 2 years since I've been but ohhhhh they did not disappoint! I ordered a pound of crawfish and a pound of crab legs, corn and potatoes...house special/mild. I ordered the fried fish & fries for my kiddos. We all enjoyed our food very much. It all came out steaming hot so I opened my bags to let it cool for a second then I dove in. I only wish they provided gloves because I forgot mine but that didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying my meal. I didn't realize crab legs were so much at $28.99/lb and crawfish $10.99/lb but it was well worth it. We went around 3pm so it wasn't crazy crowded and didn't take long to be seated. Parking wasn't an issue. It was a bit chilly inside but I was prepared with my jacket, lol. I'm definitely going back a few more times before the season ends. read more

The restaurant is located in a plaza with plenty of parking and offers a spacious dining area with lots of seating. It definitely gets busy and crowded during crawfish season. I typically order the crawfish and blue crabs with garlic butter or the house special, along with their sweet potato fries. LA Fisherman is a solid choice for good flavor. However, the quality of the crawfish can be inconsistent at times, so I sometimes prefer other Viet-Cajun spots. We've been to LA Fisherman many times because the food is always good, but unfortunately the customer service during our last visit was so disappointing it will likely keep us from coming back. There was a mistake with our order, and instead of offering a simple solution, the manager was quick to either upcharge us or suggest taking our bag of boiled shrimp back to the kitchen to pick items out--which felt unreasonable and unprofessional. It's a shame, because this had always been our go-to spot for this type of food. The quality of the meal itself was great as always, but the way the situation was handled left a really bad impression. 8/19/25 We dined in. The food itself was good, we both ordered fried shrimp, and my Bf added the seafood boil with sausage and corn along with it. We enjoyed it overall. Customer service was decent; The waitress wasn't very attentive, but a gentleman (manager or chef, not sure) came around to check in, which I thought was nice, BUT now looking back on it maybe it was to see where his knife bit went! We werent able to finish the half pound of sausage so we took it home! Next day im eating and find the edge of a knife bit in a piece of damn sausage. At first, I thought it was just really crispy but then when i bit down i was like wtf is this a rock so i spit it out and volia! a chunk of knife in my sausage, boy was i disappointed, and man was i more disappointed that we didnt find it while we was there!! anyway, becareful when you order food at LA because you never know when there will be a knife bit in your food! The knife bit looks worned down and like it was used over the stove too plenty of times. I dont think it was purposely placed but accidentally broke off. I understand this is an older restaurant, but safety should never be overlooked. Replacing damaged/worned tools and silverware is basic kitchen practice. LA Fisherman is kind of like The Boil or The Boiling Crab, except the sauce is way too salty and does not have enough garlic in it. I want big chunky chunks of garlic... so much garlic that I smell like garlic the next day and every time I burp it stinks of garlic, haha. This is the second time I have been here. I really wanted this place to be good. But it wasn't.... I had the $60/lbs, King Crab Legs for a Father's Day treat to myself. They were like rubber and tasted horrible. The shell was soft and couldn't even crack. Even the meat was rubbery. From what I'm reading on google that means they could have been bad before they were cooked. I didn't even finish them and just wanted to leave. The positives... the shrimp were good and the sauce was good. I'm pretty sure the king crab was bad. It took forever to find our server again and even close out. Unpretentious mouth watering goodness. I didn't even bother with the pictures since they came in plastic bags. We dug in and just went to town on the shrimp and crab. I was seated in relative ease and was given a straight forward menu. I wanted to try the fried boudin, but they did not have any. I also wanted to try fried gator, but they were out of that as well. The pricing was not to my liking, but overall, not badly priced for seafood. The waiter hit me with an interesting concept when he took my order. He proclaimed that you cannot split the bill for the table. I have never had such a thing told to me, but did not let that be a deterrent from ordering. I ordered boiled shrimp along with a half fried shrimp, half fried catfish and medium spiced fry platter. Overall, the taste was good enough to warrant a repeat visit. This seafood had some of the better tasting I have found in the Katy surrounding area. This was not "knock your socks off" flavor, but not bland eating either.
