This is one of the nicest LA Fitnesses in the area, minus the pool, which has less lanes than some locations and feels less clean too. As far as strength training equipment, though, this LA fitness shines. They have an entire new room with abundant lifting cages that truly inspire you to get after it. This LA Fitness has never been insanely crowded when I'm there either. Cardio equipment is standard LA fare. I appreciate they have a big open fake turf sort of space for doing drills or other kinds of technical/ functional strength training. Love stopping here when I'm on this side of town. read more

Visited this location while in town visiting my mom who has a membership. Getting a guest pass was fast and easy! The gym is clean and has lots of equipment. Never a wait to use a machine. We came around 11 am on a weekday and the gym wasn't busy at all. Large area of machines, a cross training section, free weights and bars, and the upstairs had a myriad of treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, steppers, etc. I also saw a group fitness class happening, there's also a Pilates studio with reformers, and a spin room. I don't know if those are extra but seems as though there's lots of great options to get your fitness groove. Locker room has showers with a hair/body wash. They have saunas and pool. Bring your own towel and locks for the lockers. It's clean but minimally supplied. No hair dryers either. I wish they had a water bottle filling station, only a standard drinking fountain. read more

We are part of Silver Sneakers! After Life Time dropped the program we had to look for a new facility. First we went to LA Fitness on Frankford in Carrollton, it was uncomfortable and dirty and unhelpful! Thank goodness the Midway and Hebron was also available. Like night and day! The Midway location is clean, friendly with very helpful personnel! We signed my husband (77) up with a trainer. Jason is a veteran, as is my husband (generations apart) and it has been a great experience. He has a great attitude, is very helpful and positive. He has a good energy and positive feedback! The gym has a wide range of equipment that's usually well maintained, making it easy to get a full workout without feeling crowded. The facility is clean, and the layout is convenient. I signed up for personal training with LA Fitness after Life Time was no longer covered by the Renew (Silver Sneakers) program. My goal was to recover my strength and balance after 5 years of surgeries and other maladies. I have been working with trainer Obinna since September and I am happy to say I am very close to my goal. He is patient, positive and challenges me every session. He listens to my moaning and groaning without blinking an eye and we just pick up where we left off. I started with him at the Richardson location and he has since moved to the Carrollton location which is a drive worth taking to continue my training. The gym has lots of equipment including an upstairs filled with bikes, treadmills and other things that make you sweat. There is also a weight room, a pool and a Pilates room. One of the best things about the gym is the Fit Camp, offered a few times a week and led by different trainers. The room is cool, the music is loud and you can't help but to have a good time while stretching yourself. The leader of the trainers, Shad, joins us and helps us with technique. It's all good. As far as I know, Fit Camp is only available at the Carrollton location. read more

So fast forward to February of the next year. I had been with La Fitness in Dallas for quite awhile before moving to Plano which meant using this gym. When I originally visited they forced me to sign up for a new plan, and all the charges that entailed. They *did not* however stop the charges at my old gym in Dallas and I've been paying on that for nearly a year now without realizing it. They were "gracious" enough to tell me when I complained to them that they would reverse the charges for the new sign-up as they said I should have not have been charged that, they however would not refund me from June to February of the next year. I had to dispute as many of the charges as the credit card company would allow. Planet Fitness just bought out Texas Family Fitness. I am shopping around for a new gym. On 12/18/24 at around 4:20, I entered LA Fitness, Carrollton, to check out the gym and possible membership options. Upon entering LA Fitness on Midway, the girl at the front desk was on the phone; never made eye contact. The guy behind her was engrossed on his cell phone; both were oblivious to my presence. After about a minute I walked around the facility to get a "lay of the land" and even went upstairs to view it from a different perspective. After viewing the facility for roughly 5 minutes I decided I wasn't interested and made my way out. Oh yeah, neither the boy or the girl was at the front desk; no one was there. AWFUL EXPERIENCE! This was my first time walking into an LA Fitness, my brother and I signed up for the 3 Day Trial to get a tour and find out about the facility because we've been looking for a new gym membership and were excited about this gym. Immediately when we walk in, we are interrogated about our intentions and accused of trying to scam the gym for free entry without so little as a proper welcome. The worker said, "We have people that pay to come here, we can't just be letting anybody in here for free...". Then he proceeded to stereotype and belittle us for several minutes, "College students are always coming in here and trying to scam us". Both my brother and I pay for our own gym memberships and wanted to use the free trial to see whether or not LA Fitness was the right choice for us- CLEARLY, it was not. I have never been spoken to in such an accusatory manner at any gym and would NEVER spend my money at a company that treats people like that. He basically refused to give us the 3 Day Free Trial and insisted that we pay the day pass or membership right there if we were serious about joining LA Fitness. Eventually, he realized we were genuinely interested and offered us a tour but by then we were already completely insulted and disheartened by his demeanor. If you are not willing to actually offer a 3 Day Free Trial then don't offer it on the website!! We left and ended up joining a different gym we had previously been members at. read more

Absolutely horrible. This guy who calls himself the boss and GM is so darn rude it's not even funny. My company has a contract with Active&Fit which is a 3rd party company who has a contract with LA fitness locations too obviously. And this Henry person does not want to recognize their memberships and treat people so rude just because they didnt get their membership from LAfitness directly with him. He talked about how he's firing people left and right and how he is the boss and he doesn't need anyone's business. Absolutely disgusting. Not to mention, this gym has no service near by and absolutely NO WIFI like some storage unit gym. Pool area is always dirty unusable. Except for the hourly guys who are good with people, the "GM" Henry will make you hate the fact that you even wasted your time and money going there. The hours of operation are clearly listed as 0500 - 2300, yet I stand here with a group of people at 0511 and the doors are locked. The machines are always kept in working condition and when I've interacted with the staff they've been nice to me. I will say that the wifi isn't too good, but do you really need to be on your phone when you're working out. Currently a member at a different gym that is always very busy, so I started gym shopping around and this LA Fitness is the first place I came to. Dominique greeted us and made us feel very welcome. We got a tour, were explained of current promotions, and activated our guest pass as I am not ready to commit anywhere until I look around(point of a guest pass). As we were walking towards the weights to workout, we are met with someone yelling "ARE YOU GUYS EVEN LOOKING FOR GYM MEMBERSHIPS?" This guy who said he is the GM comes up to us and tells us the guest passes are only for people who have NEVER been to a gym before....now make it make sense. I was long overdue to get back into exercising and after other gyms, I decided to go with LA Fitness. They offered a free fitness assessment and essentially I got paired up with a personal trainer, Cody, to go over my goals, walk-through my fitness level, and techniques for a better workout. Life is what you make of it. If you go into a gym looking for the negatives there will be plenty to find. I love this gym, I love the people that work there, and the members. I've been working out at this LA Fitness for the last 4 years after switching over from 24 Hour. It does get crowded between 5 PM and 7 PM but that is expected. There are lots of members that haven't been taught gym etiquette, but that is again, expected. The gym has been recently renovated with new equipment and they added a turf area that is great for plyometrics, tire work, abs, and stretching. I have become friends with the staff over the years and they are great. Again, life is what you make it. If you want to find the negatives you will, but if you look for the good there is an abundance to find here. Me and a friend planned on touring and signing up but when we were met with the GM (Harry?) he was abrasive and rude. First thing he asked is if i did my research on pricing, i said i did some. Then he mentioned the sign up fee and talked about how no one does GOOD research because they're unaware of the fee. Then when i said i didn't see mention of a fee he said "Really??? You just stopped researching at $39 huh? Woooow." He then interrogated us about our goals and why we were interested and then corrected our interests. And paraded us in front of a row of men working out and told us while cardio wasn't a good goal "at least there's nice eye candy." He made us so uncomfortable.. we just wanted to do our workout and think it over (research another gym) so we asked for a day pass and he HUFFED and PUFFED about how long of a process it is JUST for a day pass. We went into this LA Fitness location to request a tour and possibly sign up for a membership. We stood there a little while waiting for someone at the desk to assist. Eventually they acknowledged us and asked how they could help, as we were talking with them, this man walks and yells at a customer and then interrupted the conversation between me and the front desk associate. I explained what we were looking for and his response was so rude and abrupt we left. He was extremely unprofessional and after reading many reviews regarding this same man, i am glad we walked away. Customer service DOES NOT exist in this place. The first day I went at 9:00 am, the front desk guy did not even bother say good morning, or how may I help you. He send me to a guy on a desk that was on the phone while I was waiting in front of him, then a lady came and talk to him and they went on with their chat like If I was a ghost. RUDE! Completely dirty pool & spa. The smell was nauseating. Thick dirt , not stains. You can scrape it off a bit and see more grime below. Algae is thick in all the skimmers (pool openings for filtering water out). Spoke to an older lady who said she never sees cleaning people and it always is like that. Talked to a super unfriendly worker who "looked" managerial in his biz suit. I know I'm very direct but that's gross & it bothered me that they thought it's ok for members to swim in that. In fact, when asking why the pool is so dirty he said he hadn't noticed. he couldn't bother to look at me or engage in any meaningful conversation. I mean, how do you not notice such filth? Forgot my water & walked back in to over hear him bad mouthing me to his co-worker. His co-worker saw me but it took still took the guy a second to realize & shut his mouth and try to play it off. Decent gym located near my home which is super convenient. The workout equipment is pretty much up to par. The people that go there are easy going. The downside is the cellular data coverage. It is super spotty for Verizon and the gym doesn't offer complimentary WiFi which I find odd for a gym. The front desk staff are not engaging and they seem really dodgy in conversations. I have had an LA Fitness membership for 3 yrs. I added a membership for the HIIT classes 2 yrs ago. I love the HIIT classes but the internet is ALWAYS down and you don't get credit for your workouts until it works again. Also the stereo system and microphones don't work as well. Management has no since of urgency to fix things and do not care about the members. It's all about the money. Really like this location! Pros: Gym just had a remodel so it's super nice now. Love the functional training area & all the new equipment. It's bright & locker rooms are clean & updated too. People/staff are friendly. Really nice studio, basketball court & racquetball which isn't always in use. Cons: It is a little smaller than other locations. Either that or it's more packed haha.
