This is a smaller and mellower LA Fitness gym in the Nassau Mall in Levittown, Nassau County on Long Island. Smaller and mellower works well! No line for the equipment, plenty of dumbbells available for this dumbbell at all times, proactive maintenance staff who keep the showers, sauna, toilets and the workout floor clean and stocked; nice layout with a quiet room with loads of mats to do stretching, yoga poses( 2 seconds for me) and ab work, a nice tricep pull-down area and a basketball court. No racquetball but Farmingdale is just a few minutes east. Love that the juice bar has added protein pre made meals in their freezer with a microwave for immediate consumption. The sauna is always hot. I get to this location maybe 3 or 4 times a year. I have to mention the wonderful Gabriel who opened the gym in the snowstorm at 7 am sharp. He was happy and welcoming as the rush came in. Thank you LAF for being open today. Now it's foodie fun time as the NFL Championship games are just a few hours away. read more

If it wasn't for this location being so close to my home I would NEVER go again. The manager Alan is a LOOSE CANNON. He is CONSISTENTLY causing scenes out on the floor screaming about 'reracking weights' and in the locker rooms over PAPER TOWELS, meanwhile, often times he is doing this BEFORE his shift while he is WORKING OUT as a PATRON. He also caused a scene kicking someone out of the gym in the second week of June 2026 and told me that he has had to address this person MULTIPLE times. Why are you not taking action the FIRST time he passed an inappropriate comment to a woman or when he was aggressively staring down people on equipment he wanted to use? The guy who 'cleans' really just power washes everything, which does NOTHING, AND it leaves puddles EVERYWHERE in the gym. He does this in the sauna too and DOES NOT MOP after, causing steam and unsafe temperatures in the sauna. They also decide to clean the sauna at 8 AM, meanwhile, they have the GAUL to close the basektball courts early EVERY NIGHT to 'clean'. There is never any soap, paper towels or toilet paper either. Just a DISGRACE how this establishment is run. read more

I signed up on a Monday. I was told I have 7 days to cancel and get my money back. Apparently DAVE lied to me. Because I cancelled before the full 7 days were up and I did not get my money back. In total I was charged $233. I went to this location. Dirty, grimy, unpleasant odor. Many of the machines were broken or rusted, all of them were filthy. They have very limited cable machines and only ONE rope attachment and the straight bar attachment was broken as well. The rope attachment was also frayed, slimy, and you can smell it 3 feet away from you. I do not recommend doing face pulls with that thing. I was there for about 1 hour. Another day I went to the Farmingdale location and same thing. I went on the hamstring curl machine and it was broken with no sign on it. I left immediately. So to summarize I went to LA Fitness for 1 hour and 15 minutes, and I was charged over $200. read more

While swimming at pool, I noticed something shiny on the bottom. When I checked, I found a large safety pin lying there. It could have been dangerous, so I immediately informed one of the staff member. But he didn't even get up--just glanced over and walked away. In the end, I had to move to the shallow end myself, retrieve the pin, and show it to the staff again. All he said was, "Just leave it." Honestly, I was shocked. What if someone had stepped on it and gotten hurt? Having a sharp object at the bottom of a pool is clearly a safety issue. How can something this serious be handled so irresponsibly? If you don't want to do your job, you shouldn't be here. Why come to work only to act like you don't care? It's incredibly disappointing to see that staff prioritize their own convenience over guest safety. Proper training and a serious attitude adjustment are urgently needed. read more

I would not recommend this gym to anyone. The place is constantly dirty--dust, grime, and trash seem to be everywhere, and it feels like cleaning is an afterthought rather than a priority. On top of that, a good portion of the equipment is either broken or "out of order" at any given time, which makes it frustrating to get a full workout in. The locker room is another major issue. It smells awful, like it hasn't been properly cleaned in a long time, and it's not a place you'd feel comfortable changing or showering. For how bad the conditions are, the membership is ridiculously expensive and absolutely not worth the price. If I could give 0 I would. read more

The location in levittown exercise room gets very hot and the music constantly cuts out during class. Dave, the manager refused to let me bring in my personal size fan into the aerobics room on the hottest day of the year. It's small, cordless and doesn't get in anyone's way. It was 102 degrees outside and the ac is never cool enough regardless the temperature outside. I expressed my concern of passing out from overheating and he could care less. This gym sucks I wanted to give zero stars. 10 treadmills in 2 rows 3 work. Machines with no tops on them. You get charged a maintenance fee when NOTHING is maintained. Everyone sits around doing nothing. The maintenance "worker" in charge of fixing machines spends more time outside by his car playing on the phone then fixing things. The parking lot sucks spots are too small and cars constantly get hit. It's got the most worthless employees ever who don't care. Every machine has a scheduled for service sign on it, so bad people are keeping track. The guy who cleans is the only employee who works. Avoid this gym. Before COVID and after the remodel corporate came in a did an assessment on the cleanliness with one of the managers, needless to say she is no longer with the brand. Now the new management team have hired a cleaning staff that is doing a pretty good job in maintaining the place and equipment clean. They also ensure the sanitizing sprays and towels are always replenished on time. So I really hope they continue to ensure that this gym stays clean 24/7. read more

I joined to use the pool. First the pool was shut several times for extended periods to repair leaks, broken lines, broken heater, and a broken filter. Once the pool is opened, there are no benches or chairs for members to sit on. The life guard not only has the lifeguard tower chair, but two regular chairs and a table. These can not be used by members. One lifeguard requires the use of all three chairs and a table. One chair cannot be moved over to the steps for 5 minutes for a member to take off a prosthetic and put a swim leg on. Nope can't allow that. The chairs are only for the lifeguard. I guess it's better to slip and fall on a wet surface trying to walk a greater distance because la fitness can't figure out how to get a chair on the pool deck for members use. And is not interested in solving this problem Finally the chair lift looks real nice. But does not work. Has not worked for at least 8 months. Why? read more

If your into half broken machines, the working ones filthy, rusty and covered in sweat and dust, missing cup holders and filled with trash, looking to find a matching set of dumbbells only to find some in the locker room, hoards of high-school kids dressed in pajama pants crowding machines or in the sauna with their shoes on. Or the best part a guy next to you on the treadmill vaping and others in the locker room vaping then this gym is for you. If your someone with minimum standards of cleanliness or enjoy lifting two dumbbells of the same weight without searching the entire gym for a matching set then go literally anywhere else. This is by far the worst gym I've been a member of. Had high hopes after the remodel. Canceling my membership this week. read more

Wow. This place is going down even worse then before. The speakers in the yoga/Zumba/fitness room don't work. The instructors have to bring their own rolling speakers, despite complaining to the management for several weeks. Many MANY pieces of equipment have cushions that are shredded and torn. Many pieces of equipment have been broken for months with signs posted on them saying "do not use". The staff at the front desk are always busy on their phones and don't say hello or goodbye. Seems like a competitor wants to buy it out, so put a manager/management? in place to bring the place down so it's cheaper to buy. read more

I've never seen so many cardio and weight machines out of service for maintenance at any other gym ever in my life. It's not an exaggeration when other reviewers say more than half of the cardio machines are out of service. And it's not like the machines are out of service for a day or so. It's weeks and even months. The women's handicap bathroom stall AND handicap shower stall were both out of service on separate occasions for MONTHS, there is no excuse for that! Sanitary conditions and cleanliness is not great; locker rooms can use a really good scrubbing and facelift, specifically the showers. The only reason I'm still a member is because I utilize the pool for swimming and the water aerobics class. But honestly, even that is starting to not be enough reason to stay. read more

Scheduled for Maintenance = 'be ok with not using this machine for a long time'. I drive a few extra miles to avoid this one. Besides constant broken machines, I had a poor interaction with an employee managing the pool. 30 minutes before pool closing he became verbally annoyed with me wanting to swim laps. I usually only swim for 10-15 minutes and my schedule does push me to come in closer towards closing, but this was a real bummer. read more

Holy hell what a dump. Everything is broken and stays broken for weeks if not months. They just don't care. Plates and dumb bells scattered everywhere and nobody seems to care. So much stuff is broken you wonder if it's wear and tear or vandalization. The mechanics that they have come and try to fix stuff are over their heads and stare at iPads reading how to fix stuff, no joke. This place has legitimately hit rock bottom. Good gym. Nicely remodeled. Real nice. However I don't think they have cleaned the floors since they re-opened. I see a-tip in the corner near a mat. It's been there for over 2 weeks. Paper towels holders run out on a regular basis. There is also some membership issues too, to much to write here. If they stop skimping on the cleaning it would be the best. So now that it's back open, it is super clean. I used to see dust and grime around the equipment. I am not seeing that anymore, just a little dirty by the wall in the basketball courts by the workout mats. They have a lot of spray equipment cleaners and hand sanitizers conveniently all around the gym. I'm liking it. read more

I typically avoid looking at yelp reviews prior to visiting a new place to gather my own opinion but boy, do I wish I did beforehand!!!!! I signed up for the trial week but all I needed was one day to decide this wasn't the place for me. The moment you walk in you're not greeted with a warm welcome but rather employees deeply engrossed in their phones. Once you are actually acknowledged and finish going over numbers you're off to the hunt......the hunt to find a machine that isn't being used. I went during off hours and I was surprised how busy it was. They have saunas but you don't really need to use it as the gym was hotter than Death Valley and had the lovely aroma of a wet dog lingering in the air. I was really surprised how dirty this place was particularly the bathrooms. PROTIP: hold it in till you get home or go to Bestbuy and use their facilities. How this place stays in business is beyond me. read more

One of the best gyms I've ever been to. The staff is very friendly and welcoming every time you walk into the gym. The floor always has someone cleaning up and putting things back where they belong to create a safe and clean environment. There are many great amenities such as a sauna, pool, many cardio machines, and a lot of free weights. Gym got renovated in November of 2019. It's a pretty nice gym, but sometimes can be a bit crowded at times. Certain dumbbells can be hard to find at times. Before the renovation it wasn't very good, but they have made a lot of changes and it's a good experience. All the equipment is nice and half of it is brand new. My only complaints are that sometimes people don't take the weights off the bar or machine and being over crowded at times. Overall I like the gym but I wouldn't rave about it. read more

Soooo Unsanitary. Seeing so many related reviews I can't believe they haven't tried to take care of this or that corporate hasn't gotten involved. There are no cleaning wipes, just paper towels next to a hand sanitizer (if there is a working one) Machines often feel like they have a nasty residue on them. I have been going here for almost two years (Not for much longer) and not once was the "soap" in the restrooms not 99% water. Staff is super unfriendly and rude, they now have to scan your card for you for some reason, I have met several different employees who just stick their hand out for your card, no greeting, no smile, most times no eye contact. If they can be bothered to look up from their phones. This is all a reflection on management, its a great location, shame they don't care more. read more

This gym has the most unprofessional staff. When I called the gym to get some information some lady picked up the phone so rudely and when I was asking her questions regarding my account with them she was giving me attitude and spoke over me and once I tried to get a word in she said "Are you going to let me speak?" Miss you've been speaking the whole time and did not allow me to explain my situation. Whoever hired this staff clearly doesn't care about losing customers. I called once more requesting forms to cancel my gym membership because their web portal was down and the man on the phone told me that he would be able to email me the forms but he would have to check with his manager and give me a call back but I never got a call from anyone. (I know with gyms you need to show up to cancel but apparently you can only come in between the time of 9-5pm from Monday-Friday but most people work 9-5 throughout the week) The sad part of it all is that when you first decide to join the gym they are overly nice to you and won't let you leave until you sign up. They even asked to put my debit card on hold to keep a special price for me that I did not receive. What I don't understand is if they made me an account under a friend of mine why do they need my card if they aren't even charging my card? I called and asked them to charge me and they stated that since it's under her account they can not charge my card. Once I asked why they needed my card on file no one had an answer for me. The staff in this gym needs some serious customer service training because they have absolutely none. Within the last 365 days, I've become what one would call a spudass. With that said, I joined this gym a few weeks ago and come to workout at all different times. I don't know what the deal is at night here, but it seems like they're giving out free tickets to a Pop Smoke concert. I'd bet my life that more than 90% of these people walk in for free, take over the basketball courts, crowd around that area, and when they lose, they just simply go workout for free. I'm tryna lose weight but I can't get my buns on the stair master for the life of me. There's gotta be a simple way of doing this, maybe a bracelet at the front desk for basketball only. I don't play basketball, I can't dunk a donut in a coffee cup, but I'd like to get what I'm paying for.
