Attention online shoppers! This is an Amazon Hub Locker location--one of the few fitness clubs on LI with this designation. Be sure to add "Amazon Hub Locker Wristwatch" to your Amazon address book. Wristwatch is a huge locker that stands right in front of the TV lounge. Across from TV is a sectional couch, where members can sit down and relax. That is a bonus because most fitness clubs do not have a lounge. Regrettably, there is no sauna. It is always clean and tidy here because most members wipe down equipment and re-rack weights after use. Opening hours are 5 am on weekdays and 8am on weekends. The minus one star is due to the weekend hours. Doesn't corporate know that a lot of people get up early on weekends?!?!! read more

I've been coming to this gym since it opened at least 5(?) years ago. Theres so much wasted space in this place. I've never seen the babysitting room being used, they have 6 desks behind the front desk for signing people up I guess, I've never seen more than 1 person using a desk. The room between the basketball court and room for group classes has always been closed and unfinished. They close the basketball court suuuper early and for what? My only guess could be the amount of people who come for that makes their capacity too high/they get too rowdy or they fill up the whole parking lot (that would happen but not the end of the world). All of that on top of the fact I always see a new person working the front desk every single month so I assume the owner is just cheap/cant afford anything. Not that a front desk person should be some high paying job but there has to be a reason every month someones leaving and they have to hire someone new. I think the number one thing that would attract people to this gym would be if they add saunas. Its 1/4 large gyms in this area and only Pro-Fit has one. They're always packed and full of obnoxious guys so I wont be going there but it would be amazing here. That in addition to adding some more equipment in all of the unused space, some extra squat racks and a hip thrust machine would be awesome. Some more current music doesnt sound like much but it could completely improve the vibe of the whole gym, theyve always played some 90s/00s station and while I like a throwback I dont want to listen to that during my workouts. Was not going to renew but signed back on. The new thing is this large cleaning lady that has not picked up a single thing in 2 weeks. Arm In a sling. Every other hour walks very slowly pushing the cart. Looking at everything but the floor for garbage. The guy with the long dreads kept this place spotless. Not sure where he is. Maybe when both arms work the floors will be swept of people sweat rags and empty water bottles? read more

I went on to rinse off and had no problem with this until immediately after, another member walked in the pool and the manager didn't say anything to her. I was forced to go to this particular LA Fitness when the one I go to was undergoing remodeling. Hesitant at first, this place isn't bad at all. I tend to go early in the mornings - around 5:30/6 am and this place is a blessing to be in. The machines are new, the floors are clean and it feels fairly modern. There are plenty of cardio machines as well as an entire floor of free weights and assisted weight machines. Although it is great during the morning hours, I feel as if it is slightly overcrowded in the evenings - but that may just be an outlier since myself and many people I know have been using this gym during my regular gym's remodel. The ONE thing that is extremely irking is the traffic and parking lot situation. I don't feel that there are enough close parking spots during peak hours and getting in and out of there is a nightmare at times - although I am willing to blame this on the exponential increase of guests at this particular time. All in all, the gym is excellent and I hope after my current LA Fitness is done being remodeled, that it resembles this one. read more

The staff here are all very friendly and helpful, BUT... the equipment is in a constant state disrepair. I have been going to this gym for months and the same machines have been broken since my first day. I told management and they say that the corporate office is responsible. I scratched my arms on torn cushions several and STILL they have not fixed it. Because there are so many machines down it become difficult to get a good workout when there are a lot of people in the gym considering there are so many broken machines. I don't understand why they would not fix it unless they just don't want to spend the money to make members happy. read more

Pros: Clean, plenty of aerobic machines, machines seemed well maintained, don't have to search the gym for a pin to use on the weights of equipment missing its pin. Cons: The key/wallet/cell phone locker boxes do not work. Worse, the young woman at the desk told me they never worked (as far as she could recall), as if "it is what it is" is acceptable (no apology, explanation, or expectation of improvement). She suggested that I bring my own lock and use the lockers in the changing room for my wallet and keys. I explained to her the problem with her suggestion is that there are no cameras in the locker room. Anyone with a simple screw driver can bust into those lockers in a second, and thieves familiar with LA Fitness's lapse of secure lockers (like at the front in full view of staff and clients) can target the gym to watch for opportunities in the parking lot where clients visibly "hide" their wallets under the car seat or trunk because there are no working wallet lockers at the gym. I suggested that the manager (of the North Babylon site) simply have the wallet lockers operational like most LA Fitness locations so clients can secure their car keys and wallets in a box designed for that purpose under the view (and security) of cameras, staff, and clients. The young woman just gave me a vacuous stare. Perhaps she was offended by what used to be called common sense. I'd add this, gyms (and users) in general should be on high alert if those wallet-lockers are tampered with and made useless. Someone, or group, likely made it that way to create opportunity for clients who didn't come with their own lock to use in an unsecured locker room and need to go back to the car to "hide" their valuables. read more

I dont understand why they can't display photos of their own gym. I noticed that with every LA Fitness Yelp photos. Do not be fooled by that. So when you walk in, the front desk is right there, obviously. What I don't like is that they dont have the scanner placed on the counter like every other gym, so you're standing behind people waiting for the receptionist to hold up the scanner for you while they're in mid-convo with another customer. This isn't the best gym I've been to but for the area and compared to Crunch - it's decent enough. Everything is clean now because they did just open less than a month ago. The parking lot can get crazy during rush hour. All the equipment is very nicely organized. And the pool is off to the side once you walk in. I love that they have TV's on their treadmills! But only a few channels - better than nothing! It's nice they do have a water and bottle fountain in one. The "exercise room" where you can do your thing when they dont have classes and is the biggest room I've ever seen in a gym. It doesnt just have one mirror in the "front" of the class but on the side as well, which is really cool! The volleyball and basketball court is all in one. They said they'll put the net up for you if you feel like playing volleyball. FYI: THEY DO NOT HAVE RACKETBALL, STEAM ROOM OR SAUNAS! Apparently, what I was told, NY State now considers steam rooms and saunas a health violation after a certain date. I don't know the excuse for racketball. So let me complain about the shower's real quick. Look at my photos and tell me those shower heads are a POS? I'm hoping they're just still a brand new gym and the shower heads were placed in back order cause I'll be bathing in the handicap one for now on that has a normal spout. Moving on to the shower curtains. So, I'm 5'3" and if youre any taller than that and you like your privacy, you're gonna have a problem. You'll be showing the world what your boobs look like. Can someone explain to me why they bought curtains with a HUGE window in them? I'm pretty sure we all can tell who is in a shower and who isn't by a towel hanging on the one hook they provide. Also, they don't have a shelf in the shower. Other than that, the bathrooms are beautifully designed and well-kept. It's clean and they also have a 3 TV's in there! I love that this gym has a seating/table/ TV lounge area - that's pretty neat. And for you parents, they do have a Babysitter. It seems as though they use their app regularly for things there, including knowing when classes are - really helpful! My overall opinion is this place is nice, and if you pay $50 more during the down-payment you can get access to other locations within the state of NY. Which is cool, find your sauna elsewhere! I definitely recommend checking it out, they'll provide you a guest pass to try it before you buy it. They won't let you forget you have it because they will keep on calling you. read more

Having delayed my return to a fitness center for far too long, this location is a stones throw away from my home and there just wasn't another excuse I could muster for not joining. Brand new facility with top of the line machines, free weights, basketball court, yoga space, spin classes and a pool. If you have a friend who's a member, they have a refer friend/family promo that eliminates the initiation fee ($99). They offer student discounts as well and so I took advantage of that - $50 off that fee then only $39.99 a month for life. You are expected to pay first/last up front as well as initiation fee- but price can't be beat. Membership is good for any facility anywhere. Staff are friendly and encouraging. Any gym that promises to ensure the safety of its members and doesn't enforce mask-wearing, which is a NYS mandate, should not be open to the public. We have gone straight to management multiple times to address the issue and nothing has been done. Wearing a mask is the bare minimum one can do to keep people safe. We were all hesitant to go back to gyms at first, but this blatant disregard for safety, sanitation, and comfortability is absurd and certainly not worth $40/mo. I really like this location. Staff is friendly and welcoming. The machines seem clean and so does the locker room. Haven't been in the pool yet but glad they have one. Looking forward to taking some classes soon to see what the instructors are like. No, the weights are not put back in an orderly fashion, but I haven't really been able to find that at most big gyms. So I've made it back to the Gym like everyone else 2 work off the Holiday bulge. Happy to say that LA Fitness has fixed the heart rate monitor on the elliptical equipment. And fixed the non-working channels that had gray screens. I would like to see more aerobics classes offered and for early morning workouts the spin is the best. shower heads spray pure pain. So there's still some things that need tweaking but for gym that's been open for 1 year, they're on the right track. read more

I left a ripping review of another location for overall lack of hygiene and decency so I wanted to balance the scales and rave about this clean, well appointed facility with an amazing training staff. It stinks that they don't have a sauna but really, those get gross and I'm willing to hear that they are a net negative for gym cleanliness overall. I absolutely love it here. The child care staff also deserves high marks. My son adores the two people he sees there on the regular and I can really feel confident leaving him in their care. read more

I signed up to LA fitnes last winter. I bought a six month training package that "automatically renews". It was due to end in May. I was disenchanted with the whole training system right away. The trainer pushed me to lift more weight than was safe for an out of shape, middle aged person right away, so naturally i ended up pulling muscles and hurting myself immediately. The whole point of paying hundreds of dollars for " professional" supervision was so i would work safely. In my opinion that did not work at all. I ended up missing a lot of weeks from being out of town, and when i was available i would end up doing free weight lifting at the trainers insistence that i was not ready to do. This resulted in my 50+ year old body getting hurt several times. So then i could not even use the sessions. So in February i called (February 21 by their own records) and advised them NOT to automatically renew. I told them when it expired in May to just let it expire. In October i found out they had renewed the training despite my instructions. In other words they were charging me over 200 a month and i wasnt stepping foot in a club. Not using any training sessions or ever going to the club. When i discovered this i called their main office. I called on 10/22 and spoke to first a customer service rep. I felt she was very rude to me and started chastising me about reading my contract and following procedures. She claimed the contract would renew no matter what i did uness i went into the club and filled out a form. I asked to speak to a supervisor and then spoke to a supervisor named Karen Hanson. She at least was polite and pleasant. She admitted they had a record of my calling in February, and also noted that they had notes with the trainer that i "discussed renewing for just one session per month". That was true. I had discussed renewing for just one session per month because if you stop training any session you paid for but didnt use is lost after 30 days. But i never went in to renew for one session per month. I never renewed at all. I never signed ANYTHING or agreed to anything. I just left it as i instructed - to expire in May. She could not explain why it was renewed for the full 4 sessions per month. She quoted a person in ANOTHER STATE who was given credit for "selling" me the additional sessions. Some one named Logan. When i mentioned i was in Florida at the time she first said Logan was in Florida. When i pointed out that i never stepped foot in any club other than the one in my home town they agreed that was true. Then she said logan was in PA. Again. Never been to a LA fitness in PA either. So how did i renew with someone in another state? Karen agreed that there was nothing in writing about the renewal other than what their employees wrote up. Even with their own records showing that i called to discontinue months in advance and that i had "discussed" extending but for only ONE session per month they still renewed and billed me for the full FOUR sessions per month. No paperwork, no signature, just a note in their computer that some guy in another state "sold" me a renewal of 4 training sessions per month which was then charged to my credit card. Karen called me back i think two times to ask a few questions and to tell me she was "working on a solution". Then she simply stopped calling me and kept about a thousand dollars for training sessions that i never authorized or used. I called my credit card to dispute the charges but LA Fitness reported that it was a legitimate series of charges - about a thousand dollars. So amex did nothing for me either. So now i paid for fitness sessions for the last 5 months that i didnt authorize and i can even use them because they have already expired. I would NEVER use LA fitness for training or even a club membership. I feel like i was scammed. read more

I went in looking to try new gyms in the area, I stated that I was unsure if I was going to fulfill the membership or not and just wanted to try it out. The GM told me that I could try it for a week and if I didn't like it I could cancel at any time before I was charged. I was not a fan after working out there for a week, the pool was nice but the gym itself wasn't what I was looking for after coming from Crossfit. I was still charged after calling and canceling my membership, it was problem after problem and I played phone tag with the GM who wouldn't answer my emails. I finally got a confirmation of the cancellation and in it stated that I would be refunded. I was in fact not refunded and am STILL trying to get my money back after multiple promises of getting it refunded. Never will I go to an LA Fitness again. read more

The gym itself is decent. All the equipment is new of course, because they just opened (we'll see how long that lasts). Don't get yourself caught up with the trainers like I did. The sessions are ridiculously expensive $500+/month to be exact and there's no guarantee that your trainer will be available to work with you. This is the second training session in a row that I showed up for with no trainer. When one of the other trainers was asked if he could work with me he declined because he was leaving in a few minutes. It's 6:30am! Where the hell are you going? The gym just opened at 5! Really?? When I asked to speak to a manager they couldn't be inconvenienced because they don't get in until 9am. I was not the only member there this morning with this problem. For Memorial Day I was scheduled for a training session at 6am however the gym didn't open until 8am. No one bothered to call to tell me that I needed to reschedule or not to come in because the gym wouldn't be open. The weights are never properly re-racked, the trainers can never find the equipment they need for training sessions. Additionally the lifeguard didn't show up to work (not that that's a huge problem in a 4' deep pool but it's the principal. Save your money. If you're looking for a professional gym to work out at this is not it. read more

The staff will pester you to join, and blow up your phone for a mediocre gym. Considering this location is a "signature club" the atmosphere is bleak and the staff is rude. Pretty dusty under the treadmills and ellipticals. Every time I come to workout at this location the women's bathroom/ locker room always has garbage (toilet paper or used paper towels) on the floor...like in every section of the locker room and every stall. The gym is nice, clean, with accessible hours. The personal training program for this site is a different story. Sal, who is actually stationed in the Commack La Fitness, lied every time his lips moved when selling me the services. He did not disclose restrictions he put on the services, which continue to be problematic. When I complained he set me for services at another LA Fitness, not really convenient, but workable. The trainer in Lindenhurst quit, so I went back to North Babylon to get set up with a new trainer. I spoke with Alison, who was quite amused at my frustration, stating to me that she had another, was leaving the gym, and is unaffected by any action I might take. I just switched to this gym and so far the experience has been horrible ... I train everyday and since I've been signed up here I've never seen the weights on the dumbel rack put back... On top of this , it feels like a day care in this gym at times... hopefully they fix these problems because the facilty itself is beautiful. read more

Called corporate to file a complaint never looked up our accounts took our names or held our ids never tried sell a membership was ignorant and when I asked for corporate number had a staff member get it like he didn't have it or couldn't get it himself. Staff has changed like a revolving door and this guy costing club sales. Easily could've held our ids let us workout then sat us back down saying I can't honor a Wk pass as your a former member but if you sign up I'll add the wk to the membership. Instead we left went to another gym and of course won't be returning to north Babylon and will make sure we voice our terrible experience every chance we get on every platform possible.
