Go and spam you for the one dollar a month trial period or three free days visit whatever it might be then you go there you gotta give them all your information right from the first day you do the tour OK then you start doing your free passes plus you're a dollar a month then before the month is even up they take out the annual fee out of your bank account that is required to pretty much walk in the door. That's a little bit of entrapment. I think planet fitness gives you three months before they give you the annual fee so you get to pay three months worth of membership whatever it might be $30 $40 after three months 90 days you can decide if you want to pay the annual fee and continue to go there not at Retro Fitness. Oh I say it again not at Retro Fitness Deer Park they take it out before 30 days is even up out of your account and they refuse to give you your money back when you cancel the membership because of their dirty facility. The place is disgusting. The showers are disgusting. They piss on the toilets. Nobody cleans it. I'm a pretty lenient person, but when it comes down to taking my money before the 30 days is up for the first month that's kind of Rob somebody then the manager refuses to refund my money because of their subpar gym and non-cleanliness. I would definitely skip this place regardless of the one dollar a month. Skip it skip it skip it. Plus every time I would buy a premade protein shake the price was different. Recently renovated with all new equipment, locker rooms, and amenities. I've been a member since 2018 and have referred my friends and family. The staff is always kind and welcoming. This gym is the worst gym that I had to deal with. They were told multiple times to freeze the account, because my son was going back to college at the end of January. Here we are now and its April and I'm out $90.00. January when is was there he told them to freeze his account starting February. February my son called and reminded them to freeze his account , because they charged the account. They said no problem. March I called and told them to freeze his account and to take my wife's card off his account, because again they charged the account. The people that work there are a bunch of morons. I think I'm going to go there and take $90.00 of merchandise off there shelf and walk out and see how they like it. read more

Been going to this Retro for almost 2 years and never had a problem. In that time I've canceled my membership (to return to college) and signed up again. Never had any problem, billing stopped immediately that month with no cancellation fees or surprises. Staff has always been friendly and are always willing to walk over and show you how to use a machine. I've seen the second front desk employee leave to help spot someone numerous times. They have a company that trains inside and they are also wonderful, they've helped me a few times without even being one of their clients. Equipment wise they have everything you'd ever need and the machines are not right on top of each other and they have the biggest ab section I've seen in any gym. Obviously things break but I've never noticed them saying broke for longer than a week or two. Locker rooms are generally pretty clean although I don't use the showers so I can't say for them. The only reason I gave a 4* instead of 5 is they recently changed the policy on their studio. It used to be open to everyone while no classes were there but now it's locked and only available for the classes. This leaves virtually no large open space to do a walking leg band workout or jump rope. read more

Visit Date: March 29, 2015 I've been to this retro fitness twice. The nice thing about retro fitness is that if you sign up at one retro fitness you are entitled to go to any retro fitness without paying additional money. When I was a member of synergy even though I liked it, if I wanted to visit another synergy gym I would have to pay extra money to do that. This past week I came here to work out with my gym buddy instead of her coming to the gym closer to my house for a class we normally take on Sundays. My two experiences here have been pretty good. The spin class here is very good and so is the yoga class I've taken both of them prior to Sunday. The equipment is pretty decent too. I like that they have actual wipes here to wipe down the equipment the one I go to on Montauk Hwy in West Babylon only has paper towel with spray cleaner. The one thing I dislike about this retro fitness is that they don't have a sauna, my home retro has a sauna and I love it. read more

Retro Fitness is a wonderful gym. It opens the door to a wide variety of fitness opportunities. The employees are very knowledgable and have different backgrounds on how to maintain movement in your daily life. They offer personal training through a company called Pure Core. Pure Core offers one to one training from a skilled trainer. The trainers have different backgrounds and Managers on site will set you up with the right trainer based on your goals. I personally just hit my 90 day mark at Retro Fitness and Pure Core. I have lost a total of 31 pounds and 3 pant sizes. Thanks to the support team I am able to get up everyday and feel inspired. I work with an amazing trainer that teaches me new workouts on a weekly basis. I have had opportunities to work out with other trainers here and there and they have added even more fitness knowledge to my belt. The employees and trainers make you feel like you are a valuable person in there journey. They take there time to get to know you so they can truly support what works best for you. They want to see you succeed more than you want to see yourself succeed. I am very grateful and honored that this opportunity came, to work with such amazing people. Finally, my dream is coming true, to lose this weight and be the best version of myself. I honestly could not of made it this far without the team at Retro and Pure Core. They charged my credit card beyond the 2 months following my expiration of the contract..they continued charging me, then said I would be sent to collections if I didn't pay it. They are in the wrong! They will threaten to ruin your credit to get a few extra momonths payments. I tell EVERYONE not to join here. Kickboxing is better fat burning anyway and they dont offer that. Corporate gave a canned message stating they follow policy...again, no they don't. The contract said they charge 2 months after the contracts expired...they NEVER stopped charging me although I showed proof. Corporate said that while we figure it out they would send to collections anyway and ruin my credit. Terrible. No similar issues at the Kickboxing gym I belonged to near by since then. Was never impressed with the employees at this gym as it's usually teenage girls sitting behind a desk taking selfies and ignoring whatever is going on in the gym. After cancelling my membership and paying the annoying cancellation fees. I am now getting calls from "First Credit Service" well over a year later saying I owe this gym money! I don't know what the young lady did that was incorrect (Maybe she pocketed my money and hoped nothing would come to fruition and is long gone???). Horrible gym, no maintenance done, no sanitizers, most of the time wipes are missing. The cable tv goes down for weeks due to unpaid bills. BEWARE!!! They screw you over if you dont cancel 2 months prior to the last day of your contract. I have to pay those fuckers now 2 more months because i didnt give them 60 days notice which i think is ridiculous because they dont even give you a heads up when your membership is up they, just renew it without telling you!!! They state its in the contract but obviously they hope you frget about this so that they can just rip you off and take more of your money. Since this happened to me i hope people read this so it doesnt happen to you. I'll never become a member in this gym ever again... it also smells like sweaty balls and gets really stuffy in there at times. Club randomly changed their Friday hours to open till 10pm instead of the normal 11pm. I'm guessing this is because the employees want to leave early, which isn't a good reason to me. Most of the headphone jacks on the treadmills don't work for the TVs. They turn off the big floor fan 30 minutes before closing to try and get you out sooner. I've complained to management before about employees chasing each other around like school kids and he apologized and acknowledged it. The movie room could use a fan or two, it gets stuffy in there. As well as the credits rolling for 30 minutes at a time because the employee at the desk forgets to hit 'play'. Not going to renew my membership here. read more

This place is just horrible. The entire staff is rude and unhelpful. Its run by kids first of all; mostly young girls who can always be found texting, watching movies on their personal laptops, or hanging out with the guys at the trainer desk. The guys just use their shift to work out. There is NEVER anyone helping at the desk in the morning. While on the cardio bike I listened to the phone ring for a solid hour and not a single employee came to answer! They never bother to look away from their phones to greet you, even if you approach them with a question. The place is beyond filthy, weights left everywhere which is the responsibility of the clients but still the staff should be paying attention! Everything is falling apart..there are 2 yoga mats available both of which look like a dog attacked them..they're pretty much unusable. I often see kids left alone in the daycare while the staff is hanging out in the lobby eating dinner often with other friends who don't seem to be employees. Terrible gym. When I was there the machines were dirty and sometimes didn't work. At first classes were included with the membership then they added a fee to get into the classes. I stated working out at Retro Fitness Deer Park, this past October. Contrary to other reviews on here, the Gym is kept up really nice, very clean and well run. The staff is Great and Pauline the Manager is AWESOME!! A horrible gym. Usually kept pretty bad, management is rude and abrasive. Worst of all even when they tell you you are on a month to month you STILL have to pay a 3 month cancelation fee. Had a knee injury in February and was supposed to be canceled, then paid until June when I called the corporate office. They told me to cancel in August because that's when the year is up. Its pretty simple, pay your bill you will have no problems. The long and short of it is this gym is great, you go in there you get your workout and you leave. I do feel however this gym is missing a few things that it could easily fix or add with no problem. Trap Bar Safety Squat Bar Fix or buy a new T-Bar Row Machine Power Rack or another squat rack, not many people use the TRX station text to the racks take them down and add another squat rack and a power rack just my thoughts. Avoid this gym altogether. The worst customer service. Treadmills are rundown and worn. When i went to cancel, I went in the first day of my billing cycle, and they double charged me. I called corporate, who refunded me with no issue. Then a month later I was charged again. Needless to say, this left me annoyed enough for me to write a review and I also plan on calling the Better Business Bureau. read more

This gym is starting to detoriorate. Some machines have been broken for over a year for example the leg raise and calf raise machines. Some dumbbells and weight plates are cracked. People don't rerack their weights. Employees are on their phones most of the time. If they just care more and fix these issues, this would be a great gym. The bathroom is clean and there is a good variety of weight and cardio machines. read more

For any business customer service and and courtesy from staff members is the biggest asset and that is what they don't have. Staff is rude and argues with customers on small things. I do not recommend this gym. Owner prior to 2016 was different and much better. This is worst gym since the new ownership in 2016. the new staff is very rude and charges pretty much same as New York sport club right across the street. compare the NYS has less facilities. I've been a member here long time I don't know why people keep giving it bad reviews I feel that for $20 a month you will not get a better gym the classes are very good here. It's never too crowded where you can't use equipment. The people keep it clean and nice there. II don't understand why everybody is saying it is so bad but I feel that if you want a better gym you probably have to spend quite a bit more money to me as far as $20 range goes this is the best you're going to get you can't expect an inground pool and concierge service for $20 a month LOL I like the place and have been going there and even though there are other options around me similar priced I have checked them out and feel that this is what you get for $20 it is very good I got a great workout I get wonderful classes and I don't see what the problem is LOL read more
