This was my first time visiting this gym and I went as a guest. There were a lot of cool things that they offer. The equipment offered a range of machines and I like the way they separated the equipment upstairs, and into different rooms downstairs. They have a few rooms to play different handball and croquet games. There is a basketball court , sauna, whirlpool and swimming pool. The restroom/ Locker room was very clean . The only thing I didn't care for was looking at the pool, it can use a facelift. The bottom of the pool is discolored and needs to be redone . Same with the whirlpool. There were also IMO, not enough cleaning areas. None were close enough while I was working out. I had to search for the cleaning stations. That leads me to believe that a lot of people don't clean the equipment before or afterwards. I made sure that I did because I do no want to get sick from other people germs. read more

I'm honestly furious with LA Fitness at this point. This isn't just me being annoyed with a gym anymore -- I genuinely feel like this company has personally come after me and my livelihood. The whole experience has been unbelievably disrespectful. The gym is gross, dirty, and poorly maintained, and the customer service is somehow even worse. But what really pushed me over the edge was trying to cancel my membership. I was told I needed to physically come into the gym to deal with the cancellation, despite the fact that the location is over an hour away from me. So let me get this straight: you're perfectly happy taking my money remotely every month, but when I want to stop paying you, suddenly I have to rearrange my life, lose time, spend money on gas, and drive more than an hour just to tell you I'm done? That doesn't feel like customer service. It feels like an obstacle deliberately put in my way. And when your livelihood depends on your time and your money, forcing someone to waste hours of both just to escape a membership they no longer want is not some harmless inconvenience. That money matters. My time matters. My livelihood matters. At this point, I don't feel like LA Fitness is simply providing me with a bad gym experience. I feel like they have made themselves an unnecessary financial and personal burden in my life, and I am absolutely done being treated like my time and money don't matter. Maybe that's not how they intended it. But that's what they have done to me. I joined a gym. Somehow I ended up fighting a company just to leave one. The main reason I come here is to swim, since there either aren't pools at the other locations near me or they're indefinitely closed (McCormick Ranch). So, yes there is a pool, but it badly needs to be resurfaced. Whole pool area seems rather dingy, severl of the lighting fixtures don't seem to work. There has also been a leak in the wall in the pool area (not in the pool itself) for months that has gotten progressively worse. The whole wall area has bubbled up and is molding, with the tile floor at the bottom starting to look pretty nasty. There has seemingly been minimal/no attention given to this. The rest of the gym looks pretty spacious, locker rooms are decent. read more

I love this gym! I've been going here 6 months now and I really enjoy it! I go randomly throughout the week and the equipment is always open and clean. The staff is super nice and welcoming especially Todd and Tom, they're the goats! I use to not go to the gym as much at other places because it was always too crowded and not very clean, but it's never to crowded and i never feel like the equipment is not taken care of so i find myself going more! :) read more

They finally closed their doors. They were filthy. The locker rooms had trash in them. The garbage cans were overflowing with paper towels. People were running on the treadmills with flip flops. I actually witnessed a guy spit on the work out floor by the weights. Personal trainers were on their phones instead of training the customers. The homeless were coming in and using the showers and locker rooms. Several blacks would come in 5 at a time to use the basketball court without checking in or even being challenged to see if they were members. LA fitness used to be a nice place. I've had multiple concerning experiences at the LA Fitness location on 3rd Street & Greenway that need to be addressed. On March 18th, I went in for a night workout. The gym closes at 11:00 PM, but the closing staff member repeatedly gave inaccurate announcements over the intercom, stating the gym would be closing in 10 minutes when there were actually 20 minutes remaining. On her final announcement, she stated that she would be locking the doors at 10:59 PM and that anyone not out by then would be locked inside the gym. That statement was extremely inappropriate and concerning. Members should never be threatened or made to feel unsafe, especially in a facility they are paying to use. Then on March 21st around 2:00 PM, I experienced another issue. I accidentally spilled a Starbucks coffee and immediately reported it to the front desk to prevent anyone from slipping. After waiting several minutes with no assistance, I followed up and was told no one was available to clean it. I stayed to guard the spill to prevent injury and even offered to clean it myself. When I asked for paper towels, the employee responded with a dismissive attitude, slammed the supplies down, and escalated the situation by making false claims that I was a "bad client" with negative notes on my account--claims that were later confirmed to be untrue by another staff member. Eventually, another employee had to step in and clean the spill, which should have been handled promptly from the start. While I take responsibility for the spill, the lack of urgency, professionalism, and respect from staff--combined with previous concerning behavior during closing hours--reflects poorly on this location. I expect a gym environment to prioritize safety, professionalism, and respectful communication. At this point, those expectations are not being met. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and implements better training and oversight moving forward. read more

Been coming here for years and unfortunately I am quitting because not only have they raised their rates, but almost every time I go in I get cat called like a s@x worker in a construction zone. Feeling very awkward and unsafe - my gym clothes are designed for comfort, not attention as I'm a happily married middle aged woman. Ridiculous. I put up with the somewhat sketchy equipment and not exactly sparkling clean bathrooms for too long - plus the guy teaching yoga on Mondays (Tony) is a walking man bun that infused his religion into his practice. I made a membership with a man named Todd, unfortunately there was a misunderstanding which resulted in me paying an additional monthly fee. At the end of the day we are all human and mistakes happen and I pray Todd doesn't kick himself over this simple mistake, I also could've caught the mistake at the time of sign up unfortunately I didn't so I am taking this as a learning opportunity. I think Todd and his team handled this situation with grace and I truly appreciate the team effort in trying to work with me on my membership. Overall, I love this gym and the employees. I've been a member here since May of 2024. The gym is easily outclassed by Mountainside fitness and other competitors. I only joined because the gym is close to my house and has a large selection of equipment. That said, - Gym cleanliness is lacking with locker rooms that always smell foul. - No towels whatsoever are provided. - The app only works about half the time for check-in without a restart. - The sauna has been down about every other time I've tried to use it. Those are my top issues with the facility itself. My Biggest Complaint is with their Billing Practices. Specifically, my account has been on auto-payment without an issue since joining. This month I was issued a new card by my bank and due to an oversight, hadn't updated that yet with the gym. On Wednesday morning last week I received the 1st notice from the gym of an issue with the billing when I answered an out-of-area code call. The rep advised me she was with LA Fitness & there had been a, "minor billing hiccup". I thanked her for the call and assured her I would take care of it. Mysteriously, that answered call also resulted in a voicemail. Not sure how that's done, but it's annoying! That said, IN THE COURSE OF 1 DAY my wife and I received a total of approximately: - 6 Phone Calls - 4 Voicemails - a Text Message - AND an Email! The calls came from these out-of-state numbers if you care to block them rather than ever be bothered again: 1) 626-568-3598 2) 407-874-1134 3) 951-600-9998 Dear Lord! Day 1 of a problem and that's what they do?! I stopped in that night and spoke to the club manager, Parag. Parag's demeanor was indifferent and unapologetic. He reminded me (as if I didn't yet know!) Of my balance due and declined to step away from the front desk to hear me out / even pretend to care about my complaint regarding the excessive number of calls, voicemails and other communications they sent me on day 1 of a problem. I asked, and he refused to provide me with the contact information to reach anyone at their corporate office. He informed me he is the club manager, he's been with the company for 15 years, he is also an area supervisor and any compliant I had would be heard by him. He also said it is standard practice for them to call up to 3 x per day, and it used to be unlimited calls in 1 day! I informed him this type of harassment more incentivizes me to cancel my membership than to instantly update my billing info and reward their harassment! Parag expressed absolutely no care whatsoever that I might cancel my membership in response and added insult to the injury claiming most people aren't bothered by all the communication and just update their info instantly! Well Parag, you're not hearing me, you don't seem to care, and the company makes it nearly impossible to reach their corporate office, so I will be heard other ways. I attempted to contact LA Fitness at the corporate office that night via a message on their application, after realizing they had also applied a $5 late fee / penalty to my account, however, instead, that was responded to by Parag the next morning simply reiterating the previous day's conversation. Ok LA Fitness, I've now filed a complaint with the AZ BBB, and posted this review. Hopefully the aggressive billing communication and refusal to put members in contact with the corporate office upon request is working out well! p.s. If you do want to reach Fitness corporate office, I have found the number: Corporate Phone: 949-255-7200 (They may answer as Fitness International, it's the LA Fitness parent company from what I can tell). This is my favorite LA Fitness in all of Phoenix. I have had memberships at five different LA Fitness gyms, including three new builds, and worked out at many others. This gym is by far the cleanest of any gyms I have worked out at in the LA Fitness chain. There is janitorial staff working all day to make sure the floors, bathrooms, and equipment are clean. The front desk staff is always friendly and eager to help members and non-members alike. The gym itself is huge, with two separate main rooms, one devoted to resistance training with free weights and machines, and the other featuring cardio machines and a functional training area. There is also the requisite basketball court, spinning room, pool, raquetball/handball courts, and aerobics room. I don't have young kids but there is a kid's club, too. read more

Outrageous pricing for this gym. The "certified child care" is one woman to FIFTEEN CHILDREN! When I emailed to cancel the child care they said they'd refund the $40 dollars and they are just people to watch my child not certified and don't need to be. Now I've been trying to cancel this membership for weeks since going one time and being charged $230 for my month expense! They still haven't gotten back to me or refunded me. For these prices go to LIFETIME when it's a month of $200 and so much nicer!! read more

I asked him if he had ever been up on the Bluff or to UofP. He didn't even know where that was. That tells me a lot about his intelligence level. I did not feel welcome. The manager was quite unprofessional, short one. Very passive aggressive and as someone who had a very similar experience stated from a past review, he wanted to create some kind of issue for no reason. Even caught him mean mugging me when I'd turn my back. Definitely not the type of environment to do so where people are trying to better themselves. The staff was okay but did feel uncomfortable being watched as soon as I walked in by the male staff. The facility was great but feeling like a hostile (work) environment was certainly a cause for me to go to another club. And warning; they practice fake reviews and report negative ones such as mine, they've reported several of the same review, including Google, and had it taken off but I'll continue to re-review because of their terrible behavior and treatment of their customers. read more

There's a lot going on at this gym . I go with my wife here and there . Nobody cleans up after using equipment. The older man at the front desk is always arguing with people. It was the first thing I walked into. I go in for a good workout and his attitude changes everything. The women's sauna is extremely dirty. Ok so I was not planning to ever return to LA Fitness after my previous terrible experience, but the new management reached out to me and totally redeemed themselves! Hubs and I went in to check out the club and woah -- we were impressed with all the changes. The front desk staff is extremely kind and courteous and goes above and beyond for its guests. The club itself is clean, and they've got new equipment; anything you could ever need to reach your fitness goals! Hubs and I got a great workout in, and thought maybe we should consider getting a membership since it's truly a great club now, not to mention it's super close to our home. I truly appreciate that the management took the time to reach out to rectify the situation; they made this girl's day, and they ended up with new members. This gym has always been a great staple for moon valley. It's very large and I love how they have all the different areas separated. There's private racquet/tennis rooms, a basketball court, smoothie/protein station, kids area, and even a second floor cardio area which is nice and private without being claustrophobic. I don't have a child but if I did then I'd feel pretty good about bringing them here. The play area looked great and the girl watching the kids was very interactive. I signed up for the 3 day trial and I am pretty put off by a member of their "sales staff." The girl at check in was super sweet and went to ask if they could activate my trial. The guy working tonight literally gave her a flat no across the room and said he was busy.... Like okay? How welcoming. Compared to the gyms in LA, this LA Fitness is clean, spacious, zero ego and is just great for a hard work out. On December 12, 2022 I went to LA Fitness to cancel both my gym membership and personal training contract. I was assured that both were canceled and that the gym dues would stop immediately. I was informed that the personal training dues could not stop until the contract ended at the end of February. I agreed to the terms of the contract and paid the next 2 payments. However, LA Fitness did not terminate my personal training contract as stated even though I was told verbally and in an email that they would. I have subsequently been charged $600 between March 2023 and May 2023. When I called to have this refunded they said that they needed me to send them all of the emails I received (even though they came from their system and should be on file). This business is attempting to defraud customers and then put the blame on the customer. read more

This location is not dependable if you want to use the hot tub. Today was the fourth/fifth time ive come in a row that the hot tob was inoperable. Today was a day i strictly came for hot tub only, but the other times ive come ive noticed theres ALWAYS a sign up that says "spa down for maintenance". Staff is mediocre, not special, i'd go as far to say below average. Bare minimum is done. They dont speak outside of the typical greeting when u arrive and leave, thats all you're gonna get from them. Great location. Everything else is great. read more
