My body adapts to the heaters in the studio just fine and the heat makes me detox and sweat out all the bad toxins. I like to bring my water bottle to class but limit the amount of drinking while in your studio. Personally, I like to hydrate before and after class. I like how each instructor has a different style of heat to spice up any of the classes offered. And there are many classes offered which help the people who do not have a 9-5 job. One thing I wish was better was the spacing! It's a very teeny weeny studio and some classes I can't properly stretch enough because I feel I might bump into the person next to me! The instructor for the night, Tamira I believe, was great! She helps correct you. For someone who is rusty on position names and correct posture, she was helpful doing certain positions close to me. The room is quaint and I enjoy the close knit family feeling of the studio. The heat is at the perfect temperature and the air is not so heavy I can't breathe. There's also a humidifier on to compliment the heat. Overall, very good first hot yoga experience. Will be coming back.

The check in desk is where I was greeted by the owner Susan! She offers yoga mats & towels for a very small fee. I noticed some super cute clothing and jewelry for sale. While I waited to sign in I glanced over to my right...... I enjoyed the lovely white curtains as they caught the wind, blowing in and out. The actual studio was like being in a retreat away from all of the hustle and bustle of the real world. The floors, the inspirational quote on the wall & the basic/simple ambiance! The class was enjoyable & the stretches felt really good! Susan was fabulous! She definitely interacts around the class to ensure this newbie was doing it right! I felt comfortable and proud that I was doing this! At the close of class i will mention that she placed nice cool cloths lightly sprayed with lavender across our eyes as we lay there absorbing all of the positive vibes that surrounded us. Very nice touch as I do LOVE my essential oils!!! Her studio was very clean & I definitely noticed all of the love & passion that was put into creating this wonderful space! It's crazy!!! My abdominal muscles were hurting by the end of the class with all the breathing in and out. I'm a perfectionist and the idea that I could not coordinate inhaling and retracting my abdomen and exhaling as I hyperextend my abdomen was driving me crazy! Hahahah..... I can walk and chew gum at the same time WTH!!!! I save lives for a living this should not be so hard! Oh it was, but so rewarding! You must bring water or you will think you are going to die! Hahaha.... It's a cardiovascular workout. It detoxifies the body by releasing toxins through your sweat. Improves your sleep quality. It reduces blood pressure. It strengthens your immune system. Stress relief. Mental health stability. Peace of mind. Improves your mood. (I'm always a joker already) Anti-aging effects. I recommend hot yoga to all my patients. Flexibility. This is the second Barkan studio I've been to, but the first time I've been to this location in…read moreFort Lauderdale. One thing to note is that you if go to any Barkan studio, the classes are not transferable so the class I have for their Boca Raton studio can't be used here, but the nice thing about it is if there is any new member special, they'll let you take part in it. I purchased their, "Groupon" special which was for $39 you get 5 classes that have to be used in two months. The classes range from typically 60 minutes to 75 minutes. Barkan specializes in buckram yoga in which the room averages about 102 degrees so if this is your first time- bring water and lots of towels because you're going to sweat. The instructors will walk you through the series of poses, working with you if you have any heath issues which hinder your flexibility or maybe you're like me and just aren't that flexible at all and need help. They will let you use their bricks during class to help ease the positions. You can also rent mats, purchase water, and clothing there as well. My instructor Amanda was great and really pushed you to the limit, but you felt amazing afterward. I worked so hard in the class that I almost fell asleep immediately when I got home. The classes are challenging. The rooms fill up quickly so get there early so you have space for your mat, but definitely check it out and you'll get a great workout.

About a year and a half ago, my company sponsored a fitness day at a place called Hotworx in Davie. I complained leading up to it, I complained throughout it, and secretly I was freaking out because I actually LOVED it!! When my friend moved to Deerfield and said she wanted to join a gym a suggested we try the Hotworx in Deerfield. Again, i LOVED it! I ended up joining Hotworx Deerfield Beach in April '24. I'm NEVER quitting this gym...gym quitter no more! I actually get upset if i can't make it to the studio. First off, the workout is incredible. Before you say "Eww i could never workout in a sauna." Yes you can. The infrared is a totally different type of heat. You will sweat. You feel the heat, but you feel it deep in your muscles and joints. This helps you stretch deeper and hit those poses in less time. You WILL feel absolutely fantastic, stronger, healthier, and happier with yourself. My skin is soft, my muscles are stronger, my joints don't hurt anymore, my plantar fasciitis is gone, my mental health is on point. Sandra, the owner, and her team are absolutely wonderful. They collectively have created a safe environment for everyone who steps foot into this studio. I feel confident and comfortable when I am here (even if at times I have no idea what I'm doing). There are members of all different ages, sizes, genders, races, fitness levels, and there is ZERO judgement. There's only encouragement. We are all each other's cheerleaders and it's an amazing feeling. I am a former athlete. The competitive drive is still in me. Hotworx gives me the opportunity to compete. Every month and every 90 days there's opportunity to compete with yourself, members of your own studio, and members nationwide. It's super hard work to climb up the ranks but it's sooo worth it!
