I visited aurora location on guest pass. I was using boxing equipment. The sign in room says "do not kick boxing bags". One of the patrons at the gym was repeatedly kicking the bag and I asked him to stop and follow the rules. He refused so I kept asking him to follow the rules. He brought manager, Brenner (brennan?) to enforce his ability to kick the bag which is clearly against the rules. The management took his side. I do not recommend this gym, as the management does not follow their own posted rules. read more

The weights are all over the place so good luck finding two at the same time. There's only 5 stair steppers (one is ALWAYS broken) and there's always a line. Maybe get rid of the bikes no one ever uses and get more stair steppers? I used to go to the Mukilteo LA fitness and it was FAR superior. I get that this one is busier, but maybe hire more staff? All that being said I'd rather go here than the planet fitness across the street lol read more

AVOID USING THEIR TRAINERS!!! They outright lied about the training contract. Deceptive practices, sneaky "contact" and suddenly talk of a "buy out" to ending a contract at three months even though I checked in with the sales team three times to make sure I was being canceled at three months. I am writing to commend La Fitness on the positive changes at the Aurora gym. First, the addition of the Pilates Reformer class is a fantastic enhancement and exactly what the gym needed. I've been extremely impressed with the quality of instruction in the Pilates Reformer classes. Both Chanel B and Michaela W are exceptional at making precise, effective adjustments to my positioning, which allows me to feel the intended movement much more deeply. Second, I have noticed a substantial improvement in the staff's overall energy and helpfulness, which speaks volumes about the new working environment. Specifically: The addition of Colin Gazelski to the Aurora Gym management team has clearly had a positive impact on staff engagement. I also have encountered Brener Cardona who has been extremely helpful and consistently demonstrates a great, positive personality when assisting members. The new management has successfully implemented changes that enhance both the gym's services and the member experience. The men's sauna has been down for months. They don't seem to care. They have all the parts. Why does it take so long to hire an electrician

I have been a member for 4 years, been very patient with the equipment being under maintenance all the time. Well I was visiting a store next to the LA fitness at Aurora ave Seattle which is also my home gym... my daughter who is 4 years old wanted to use the restroom but the store I was at didn't have the restroom so I decided to go to the LA fitness Next door, I signed in and told the receptionist at LA fitness that I am just going to the restroom because my daughter needs to go. The receptionist said she can't allow me to bring my daughter in the gym. I said no I am just taking her to the restroom, the receptionist was not a very understanding female! She said she can't allow the child to go on the gym floor! I never had such rude person who can't let a 4 year old go the the rest room!! I was so mad that instead of reasoning out with her, I just asked her to cancel my membership and never going back to that gym again!! And I make sure whoever I know won't be a member of La fitness!!! read more

This place is like lifting heaven compared to the greenlake location. Obviously peak hours are busy but the huge space doesn't make you claustrophobic with the crowds. Did not have much interaction with staff but the gym goers have been generally courteous. 8/10 would lift again read more

Went during non-peak hrs, so pretty nice. Parking was kind of rough, but might be better with closures of other stuff in that shopping center, as of this writing. I switched for a competitor's way better pricing, but am having to return because this place has adequate equipment for being reconditioned, now (like dumbbells over 80lbs). Don't think it's appropriate to mix companies' marketing/competition, but I'm only going back because my insurance membership entitles me to a different program under which I can simply elect to use this company/location primarily for WAY less. So I removed a star for price-gouging. The other one is because this company isn't French and has a silly, made-up name. read more

I am seconding the recent review by DK about the LA Fitness training program....completely deceptive, bad practices. A complete bait and switch that relies on scrolling through screens without sharing pertinent data and representing information verbally v in writing that then turns out to be different. An experienced trainer provides a demo session approx. double in length of the actual sessions you will get when you enter into the agreement. This information is not part of the scrolled through screens that go through cancelation policy, monthly payment, etc., that you acknowledge. Then the experienced trainer is not the trainer you work with. I paid the buyout fee to not deal with all the crap that DK described. I hope my experience results in no one else falling for this very deceptive practice and regret that I did not see DK's earlier review before I was deceived. read more

This review is specifically for Betelehem Ingram (Beth), the Member Service manager at the Aurora location in Seattle, WA. The review below explains how this woman decided to intimidate me, harass me, and make me uncomfortable about an outside issue she has no part in. On Saturday September 28th at 1:10PM, I called the gym looking for my cardholder that I misplaced. I was trying to retrace my steps and wanted to check the gym just in case. I told Beth my information & the description of my wallet. At first, she was kind and sounded like she was trying to help me. Right before I was going to hang up the phone, she brought up another person/employee that works at the LA Ballard location. It was at this moment that I knew she knew who I was and was not trying to help me. Beth told me that she has been receiving "information from CORPORATE" to reach out to me about how I have "made several calls to the gym" to inquire about the employee that works at the Ballard location. She wanted to know, "what I wanted from this person" and she smugly asked if she could " help me in any way." THIS IS A BLATANT LIE FOUNDED ON PETTINESS. I have never called ANY gym in the Seattle area to ask questions about this individual, nor do I want any outside "drama" to affect her job. I do not care that she works for LA Fitness. I did not need any issue resolved. I know why Beth was asking me these questions & she clearly got a kick out of talking to me when she figured out who I was. I was extremely confused why Beth decided to mention this employee to me. I simply called asking about my wallet and it turned into me being falsely accused, harassed, and questioned for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON. Shortly after, at 1:23PM, I called the location back with a witness/friend so she could also hear these false accusations. I will admit, the call got extremely heated and out of hand; I do apologize for that. HOWEVER, I wanted to know more information about these "calls" that were made, the time of the day that they were placed, the number used, and what was asked, but Beth could NOT provide any further details for me. I am sure Beth made up this story to be slick and make me uncomfortable in support of her friend/colleague. In turn, she decided to "BAN" me from Aurora and forcefully "REMOVE" me if I come to the premises - all for my "attitude" and situation that SHE caused. This is very upsetting - It made me realize these people have my information, when I call the gym, the time and day I might check-in, and are also making up false stories to put in my file for other employees to see. Clearly, I am being watched and monitored. I have been a loyal client at numerous locations in the Seattle area. I go to the gym to decompress and not stress out over who sees me there. To be harassed and berated by a person who has nothing to do with my life, over a petty and outside situation, is completely UNPROFESSIONAL. I simply needed to find my wallet and was treated unfairly with my privacy invaded. This manager gets to ban clients based on lies and false claims that she decided to start. read more

I am writing this review in regards to LA fitness by keeping in mind how it compares to other LA fitnesses mostly. This LA fitness had recently been redone a couple months ago. One maing upgrade I've noticed is the new floors they had put in which make the gym feel a lot nicer/newer. Another change they have mafe is upgrading their personal training area. They used to have a small spot dedicated in the front, but have moved it more to the back with more equipment like ropes and kettlebells. It looks much better. In the front and top floors they have a lot of cardio machines (row machines, ellipticals, treadmills, stairmaster and more). Then they have the weight machines in the middle (like most LA fitnesses). Free weights are a decent size in the back. Other amenities include a kids area, basketball court, hot tub, pool, sauna, large locker room, showers, cycling room, and a few racketball courts. Overall, I'm very happy with the new upgrade and amenities offered at this gym compared to the others. I live in Queen Anne and drive all the way to this one because I like it more. Its also less crowded than the signature gym at ballard (I go in evenings and afternoon weekends) and it definitely looks newer/cleaner comparatively to others I've been to around the area. The only con i have about this place is usually the front desk is on their phones, has their backs turned to you, or are MIA while you're checking in. I just scan my phone, so its not a huge deal, but I've seen others waiting there 5 or more minutes waiting to talk to someone. It would also be nice to just get a smile or "hello" once and a while. read more

I go to this gym about 6 days a week. This a poorly managed LA Fitness. Equipment is often broken and under repair. The sauna was out of commission for months, and is only hot about half the time. The hot tub is also often tepid or cool, and rather dirty. The basketball court has also been closed for the last several months. So more often than not, major facilities in this gym are closed or malfunctioning. Cleaning equipment and dryer machines are left out, wallpaper is peeling, and the hot is grimy and stained. Shower curtains are always torn at crotch level. The gym manager has rented the pool out to non-patrons. A children's swim school is often occupying lanes with constant screaming and hollering. This is not a relaxing environment and I cannot use the lap pool I'm paying for. Additionally, small children are often in the men's locker room where I've encountered young girls on multiple occasions pointing as I'm naked and changing. It's highly inappropriate and uncomfortable. If you can visit any other location, please do. Other LA Fitness in the area are much cleaner and even offer towel service, like Ballard and Rosevelt. The management here doesn't care. When the sauna was broken and had a sign posted on the door with several patron's comments, an LA employee wrote on it saying, "shut the fuck up and stop complaining." If you don't mind broken, ass-scented facilities, where young children frequent naked adult areas, you'll like this gym. ffs read more

I'm a new member here and was really enjoying the gym until I came for an early morning workout. The gym indicates online that it opens at 5am. Nonetheless, no staff had shown up to open the doors despite the gym hours indicating the gym should be open. It is now 5:43am. I've been waiting here since close to 5. Crappiest of customer service. You can only speak to 1 person - in person - to cancel your membership. I spent a WEEK tracking down this Beth person. Went to the gym and guess who isn't working during the times I have to come in to cancel. (I called that day to confirm she would be there). Then they only canceled part of my membership. So they charged me after I had already canceled it. Then claimed well you didn't say to cancel all of it. Seriously. Just shady business practices to screw people out of money. Also gym I was going to was being closed down. Do you think they sent notices out to their customers about that location closing? Nope! Plenty of more affordable and trustworthy gyms out there. tl;dr Unbelievably terrible customer service, dangerous location, dirty gym, STAY AWAY. So I had been a member of LA Fitness for 5+ years before the pandemic. Early in 2020 I decided to step away and cancelled my membership. Now that we are heading back to some normalcy, I decided to join back and lose the weight I had amassed in quarantine. I wanted to check out the facilities bc unlike what some associates will tell you, the gyms are not all the same. So I got myself a guest pass and went to check it out. Before you can use the gym, you have to talk to a membership associate. No problem, I get it, happy to chat. We talked about all of the options and I narrowed it down to a 35 monthly subscription that had no contract or initiation fees. I told the associate I needed to talk to my wife and run through some logistics to see if that would work. Pretty reasonable request IMO.. The associate, HEATHER, said I had to pay right now. I said I had a guest pass and all I wanted to do was get one workout in to check out the gym. I was honestly 99.99% committed to coming in the next day with a credit card in hand. She said I had to pay a $15 day pass right now if I wanted to use the gym. When I told her I had a guest pass, she said it was policy that returning members couldn't guest passes, since we've seen their gyms before. Ok... I get it. Fine. I'm not a fan of sales people hiding behind "policies" to try to get you pay NOW, but fine, I get it. I told her that I had come ready to work out and had full intentions of signing up, but I wasn't going to pay anything immediately. Heather then tells me that I can leave. I'm like woah... that's kind of rude. But whatever. I grab my bag and as I turn around, she says "what a waste of me time". LIKE WHAT?! I wasted your time?! This is literally your job. To talk to customers. If they don't give you their credit card, they wasted your time? And the audacity to verbalize that out loud. I was a little shocked so I said "excuse me? Did you say I wasted your time". Instead of apologizing, she doubles down and says that I can leave and that I'm again wasting her time. I HATE being a Karen, but I was so floored I asked to speak to her manager. She said she was the manager, which turned out to be a lie. As I was leaving, I talked to the person at the front desk and she said Heather was not the manager. She also said that Heather has had issues before and apologized on her behalf. The manager was doing a training or something with somebody so I didn't want to stay an extra 30 minutes just to complain so I ended up just leaving. Holy cow. I hope somebody at that location reads this. I get that you have policies and if I wasn't allowed to use the gym without paying, fine. But hire people who will motivate you to come back the next and actually pay. It doesn't take customer service training to know you don't tell potential customers they wasted your time. On a separate note, the location of this gym is awful. I would never park there when it's dark out. Even in the day, I would need to park where the car is visible from the front desk. I am all about customer service, but what i am not about is LA Fitness's cancelation policy or lack their of. I called trying to cancel my membership and was told that I had to come into the gym, in order to cancel the membership. Annoying and unnecessary especially in these times (what if I was sick), but fine, i just wanted to end my membership as i was not utilizing it at all. I get there and I am told that the one person who has the power to cancel memberships has left for the day. Wait...what?! Why on earth tell me to drive to your location and then tell me you can't cancel it, because the 1 person who can accomplish this task is missing? I got there less than 10 minutes after hanging up the phone. Also, why does only one person have the power to cancel memberships?! Someone should have that ability at all times that the gym is open. After asking repeatedly that there was absolutely no one that could help me cancel, I asked, "What if I wanted to sign up for a membership?" was there anyone that could help me with that? Of course I was given an enthusiastic yes, someone could help take my money. However, canceling a membership requires you to hunt down the 1 person who can assist or LA Fitness can act like its 1987 and require you to mail in your cancelation. Trying to leave this gym is like trying to leave a cult or the mob. This is crazy and not acceptable. It is 2021 and i can check into an LA Fitness with my phone, yet there is no cancelation option to be found in the app. Should i chose to try something else or just want to take a break from LA Fitness, they make it so difficult! It should not be this hard! Good customer service is being there for your customers when they want to sign up and when they want to leave at their leisure, not try and hold them hostage. If they would have helped with canceling, I would probably have returned at some point, but after this fiasco, I will never go back. read more

I usually go to the Lake City location, but come here occasionally to use the pool/hot tub. As far as facilities go this location is way nicer than Lake City, but today when I got out of the shower there was a homeless person INSIDE THE WOMEN'S LOCKER ROOM. The individual had multiple bags and suitcases with them, and appeared to be using the hair dryer on their belongings to dry them out. Anyway, it made me a bit uncomfortable to run into a homeless person inside the women's locker room where I was showering and changing. I informed one of the gals at the front desk, and she was pretty dismissive and just said "Oh yeah, we already know about that". Ok......? No further explanation. Like, are they willingly allowing homeless to use the facilities out of kindness? Did they already contact the authorities regarding the situation and were denied help, or awaiting help? Is this a common issue? Did they try to stop the person from coming in but weren't able to and wanted to avoid confrontation? Did they feel threatened by the person and therefore did not stop them out of fear of violence? If so, why is it ok to allow a threatening individual inside the facilities and not call the police? I understand that there are many possible reasons leading to this situation, and I get that the employees may have their hands tied in what they can actually do, but it would have been great for this to be explained to me so that I, as a paying member of the gym, can know why there are homeless people in the locker room and why seemingly nothing is being done about it. Based on another review, it seems that finding homeless folk inside the gym at this location is not uncommon. At the Lake City location, it is not uncommon to see encampments in the parking lot (I did also notice a couple of RV/van type vehicles in the back parking lot here at Aurora), but at least they stay in the parking lot and aren't IN the gym. Perhaps LA Fitness should consider securing their entrances better to make sure their paying members can feel safe and comfortable while using the gym. So I've always thought of the Aurora location as the *nice* gym to go to every once in a while, but perhaps I'll stick with my crappy gym in Lake City read more

I have been trying to cancel my membership for a month. I was told I had to have a manager do it, in person. I went there 3 times and was told every time that the manager wasn't there. This gym is terrible. It's stinky and gross. The customer service is ridiculously bad. These kids seem to get paid to do nothing, and also to tell you that the manager will be there on Monday. Really great gym, with lots of new equipment. And it's actually pretty big with two levels: weights, cardio equipment, pool, hot tub, sauna, racquetball, classes. I tried a bunch of the classes but really only liked the Zumba and Aqua Fitness. I wish they had LesMills BodyPump here! That's my favorite. Glad they had some classes around 4pm but wish they had more classes around noon. Locker room was pretty nice, although the mats they put on the floor to keep you from slipping, are very painful to walk on. I eventually started bringing my flips flops and that helped. I do think for a gym in the $35 price range they should really have shampoo in the showers, a swim suit dryer and towel service, but sadly they don't. I do love that they have hair dryers, yay!!! Also the lockers are nice & large, although it would be nice to have an extra shelf in the locker for things that you don't want to get crushed by your gym bag. Sauna is heaven on earth! Love it :) nice and big and clean. Pool is fantastic and actually warm enough for me to swim in. Hot tub is great too. Although some of the equipment in the pool area is rusty. Location is fantastic, just off Aurora and loads of parking. Oh and they have a juice bar too. Only reason I wouldn't give them 5 stars is because of the price. I don't really know what is the fuzz about this LA Fitness or any other locations. It seem like every single gym on Yelp have negative reviews, well most of them. LOL customer service, cleanness, overprice, and etc. Some of these reviews really made me laugh, I mean customer service is important but for a gym?! Uhh... I'm not quite sure about that. I mean personally go to the gym to Workout!! Nothing else, but it seem like people caring more about other needs. For cleanness, its actually pretty decent, I don't expect janitor cleaning every 1 hrs in a gym. Usually they clean twice a day which is in the morning or night. If a gym is clean and fresh, I don't really think it consider as a gym in my opinion. I usually go to this location to workout because it near my house, but I do go to other La Fitness location too, because I do have the multi club pass thing. I mean everytime when I walk in to the gym the front desk usually welcome me. That's all I need, I don't need to be friend with them or want them to remember me or anything. This review is for someone who joins LA Fitness if they want to use the pool to go swimming. The pool is very nice, with 3 swimming lanes, and it has windows to allow outside light to brighten the pool area. However, LA Fitness has sold out 1 lane of the pool to a private company to give swimming lessons to toddlers. They initially said it will only be a couple of hours a few days a week. They lied. The private company is there 8 hours a day, 7 days a week. One lane is constantly used by noisy toddlers while paying adults now have 2/3 thirds of the pool to use. I recently asked an employee how long the use of the pool for little kids was going to continue, and I was told that the swim lesson outfit pays a boatload of money to LA Fitness. They were not going to turn down money no matter what their members think. Toddlers also use the pool to relieve themselves, and the pool has to close from time to time to drain and clean the pool. LA Fitness is supposed to be for adults, but when it comes to making money management does not care what their members think. Making money is their only goal. The only thing that will stop their lies and deception is a lawsuit for fraud and violating consumer protection laws. read more

I finally signed up because this place is so close to my house. Unfortunately, the gym is dirty and poorly kept. The facilities are often out of service (the sauna has been broken for weeks). The doors often open super late in the mornings (like right now there are 20 or so people still waiting around for staff at 5:15am when the gym was supposed to open at 5am). The manager and most the staff just doesn't seem to care. The one upside is there are a couple of people who work the front desk who are friendly. read more

La fitness is such a scam. I signed up for a year of coaching , 45 minutes a week that cost me $250 a month. I honored my year contract but they did not. I went to them on purpose to make sure they weren't charging me after the yearly contract and they said yes they would not . But they lied. Then I found out that they were not only charging me $250 but $286. For two months after the contract was over with. I asked them why they were doing that and they said they had no control over any of that and that it was up to the algorithm. I just wanted to warn everybody. read more
