I've been lifting for couple of years back in my early twenties, and since I moved to Lynnwood I was looking for a good gym to get back to exercise. Unfortunately, 95% of gyms in USA are utter franchise network crap that try to maximize revenue by stuffing the floor space with useless smith machines and merchandise. I have never been particularly athletic or fit, but early this year I knew that I needed to get healthy. I was initially skeptical about Crossfit (in general), but several friends who do CF talked me into trying it. I selected Paramount because of its close proximity to my work, and am I ever glad that I did. The coaching staff have been fantastic. They are always emphasizing proper technique and safety, emphasizing form over "going huge." I have been doing CrossFit here for some time and I have to say that I couldn't imagine being at another gym. The community here is very supportive and not too competitive. There is a group of us that like to have fun and push each other but if you just want to come in and have a great workout with good people this is gym is for you. The owner Chris has many years of experience in Crossfit as well as weightlifting which is awesome for us members that get to pick his brain and learn proper technique. Chris and Peter are great coaches. They are very enthusiastic about teaching you the correct techniques. You will be pushed to your limits and that's a good thing. They are patient and they know their techniques. I am always huffing and puffing at the end of the WOD. Its much more fun than hitting a regular gym doing the same thing. I've fallen out of shape since I've been out of the Navy for the past couple of years. I've tried to get into going to the gym and running, but nothing keeps me motivated to going back. I looked into Crossfit, and after reading some reviews and talking to friends I gave Crossfit Paramount a try. I've heard stories of other gyms that aim for volume with groupon ads, but their coaches don't put in the time to help new people. That isn't the case at Crossfit Paramount. Chris and Peter are outstanding coaches and they give each person the attention they need to ensure that they are getting the most out of their workout. My fiancé had no previous weight lifting experience and was intimidated by the heavy weight lifting of Crossfit. Thanks to Chris and Peter, she is no longer intimidated and is excited and motivated to keep going back. Not only are the coaches great, but the people are as well. Everyone is extremely friendly and encouraging. At the very first fundamental workout, people were chearing us on and helping motivate us get the most out of our workout. If you have years of experience or if you are new to Crossfit, this gym is the place for you. You should always be weary of places using coupons to lure people in. Excellent box! I have been wanting to do crossfit for years, but had to wait to finish college to afford it. It was worth the wait, and this box is worth the money in 10 folds. My biggest concern in crossfit was my back (I have had 2 disc herniations), but the coaches here focus on form as opposed to the clock. Although they will push you to your limit, they will make sure your form is on point, which makes me feel much more safe. Additionally, the classes are relatively small, (I go at 6am and there are usually 4-6 of us), which makes it feel like personal training and allows for tons of 1:1 guidance from the coaches! The community of people who work out here have also been very kind, welcoming, and helpful as I have been trying to learn all the fundamental moves of crossfit. Overall, I feel super lucky I found this place! It's fun, safe, and kicks my butt! read more

Fantastic coaching, location and welcoming members. Coach Chris and peter are great with showing lift technique and proper posture. I looked at the surrounding cf gyms and was put off by the lack of instruction attention and the number of people working out together. They all seemed a little chaotic and unorganized moving people through there workouts. Everyone I've worked out with at paramount has made the effort to introduce them self and encourage me along in my WODs.. I'm new to the crossfit world but over the past month have realized ive never worked harder or felt more physically motivated in my life. I've been a regular at golds gym for 15 plus years and thought I was in good shape. Wrong. If you are wanting to do something bigger than the treadmill this is it. Finally I can be super excited again about crossfit! From my very first WOD I have been in love with CF. When I was 1 1/2 years into CF I had to leave the one I loved bc of traffic and commuting times and UNTIL I found Crossfit Paramount, I was less than pleased with the others I tried. With so many boxes opening I have found that programming and coaching have been lacking and "watered down" and I haven't been excited! I want to be challenged and coached! Chris and Peter do just that! The programming is set for a competitor but scalable to fit your level! Chris and Peter are knowledgable to guide you to push yourself to a working weight to work hard and avoid injury! They have attention to detail during your movements so don't think you can cut a corner and be sloppy bc they will coach you to good form! I have a few movements I dread and don't want to do and would rather stomp off kicking and screaming than do but they encourage you so that you feel confident that eventually you will succeed at it and I appreciate that so much! I drive a little further but it's worth it from coaching to programming to the clean, big space!! Trust me, I've done the research!! read more

I dropped in to Crossfit Paramount for about a week while visiting Shoreline, and was so lucky to have found such a great box to WOD at while I was away from home!! I went to several WODs and all the coaches were extremely personable, attentive, and welcoming. Chris (owner/head coach) was very accommodating and responsive to emails. I really like that they often post the WOD online - knowing the WOD always motivates me to go. The box is beautifully clean, easily accessible, equipment is great, and class sizes were very accommodating so that even as a visitor I got incredibly great attention to my form and effort. I was so fortunate to come on a day where the strength focus was your "weakness" of choice, and Chris was there to give me some much-needed and incredibly helpful tips on my snatch work. Even in just a few short minutes I learned SO much from him; he has a great amount of knowledge of lifting and lifting techniques. I am very grateful for such a great experience at Crossfit Paramount. Definitely recommend it as a place to workout; if I lived in Washington, this would definitely be the box I would join.
