The staff was sweet, especially Leon who welcomed us into the club. I like that there are a variety of brands of the same machine to meet different preferences. Also, their smoothie shop can customize drinks to your liking. Now, onto the bad, the lack of cleanliness is crazy. There are chewed gums on the lip of the cup holders on the exercise machines. Like, I understand if people were being discreet and snuck their gum somewhere, but dang, it was right in the open! I can't even blame staff for not removing the gum because there are just far too many to keep up with. Gum is not like normal food scraps that can easily be picked up... They harden and really stick to the surface. Members, do better! read more

In addition to all of the other off-putting things about this gym, the straw that finally broke the camels back was their bleak hours and rude staff. The Hours: Initially disguised as day light savings time these changes became permanent hours. Who closes their gym at 6pm on the weekends and 9pm on Fridays? The gym is usually packed at these times as of lately. People have varying work hours. A fellow member said that corporate says the hours are based on the number of sales/memberships they get within a day, so apparently sales are low - and for good reason - why would anyone want to work out here. The Staff: Not only that, at closing time the staff act as though they are working in a prison and are talking to a bunch of inmates with a nasty demanding tone reminding everyone of closure at each 15 minute mark for the last hour, and then at ever 5-minute mark for the last 15 minutes in a VERY unpleasant tone, as if they're a bunch of idiots. How annoying and rude to belittle your clientele in this way. I've had enough. The locker rooms are outdated and filthy. I'm an educated corporate person and working out here feels like a mix between high school, a prison yard and a refugee camp. The basketball court brings yet a whole other unwelcoming street element. Not my idea of a welcoming motivational place to workout and crush fitness goals with like minded people. After careful research, there are plenty of better gyms nearby that stay open later without all the riff raff. I can see LAF going out of business soon. This is a common thought among members. I started coming to this gym years ago. It has always been very clean, nice professional employees and I felt pretty safe. But now, its not the most cleanest in the ladies locker room. The showers are nasty and the paper towel dispenser in the restroom area has been broken for almost 2 months. I almost cut my finger on it. The lady at the front says management knows. It's been over a month and nothing has improved with the semi trucking situation. These truck drivers have found a free place to live on our Dollar. There was a man taking a bath, washing his feet in the back of the truck where the cargo goes looking around looking suspicious. They are basically living in the parking lot, which is very very unsafe because we don't know where these truck drivers come from it seems to be the same ones they never leave so basically they are homeless. It seems like living in a semi truck. They took over the spot that I used to park that gave me a little bit of privacy before I went into the gym. This LA Fitness is by far the largest one in Atlanta! The after-work rush can be frustrating because of parking, but it's worth the drive around. They've done some renovations in the past few months, including new wood in the sauna, a resurfaced group fitness room, and new lockers in the locker rooms. The weights area is good, with plenty of choices for machine-assisted lifting OR free weights. The fitness class instructors are very good. I've attended a variety of classes and Zumba is my default - Daphene's class is a winner. If you can get past the number of people in there with you, it's a great choice! read more

Best gym ever!! The people that go to this gym are dirty and disgusting. I see them throw paper towels and cough without covering their mouths. The gym staff really cool but the people that go to this gym could use a lesson or two on hygiene. They also stink and they don't wear shoes in the sauna. Tucker's facility is large. There are at least​ 2-3 of the same machines each, 4 racketball courts, a basketball court and dance/class studio. The front set of machines on the first-floor​ focus on upper body. Further into the gym, there are lower body machines, free, weights, etc. The second floor houses the cardio machines. In the afternoons, the gym gets really crowded. A lot​ of people come for the basketball and racketball courts. The facility is dingy and dark. The machines are worn out and dated. The sauna is dirty. The​ floors and such are ok but the place can use serious clean-up. read more

I'm a new member and enjoy and appreciate almost everything about this gym. The one element that keeps me from giving it a five-star rating (which I think it deserves) is that the front door staff members do not consistently wear their masks. I am very uncomfortable having my temperature taken (a procedure of which I fully approve) by a staff member whose mask is around his chin and not covering his mouth and nose; there is one staff member who consistently behaves in this manner, but others do, as well. Given the terrific job that the rest of the staff is doing keeping the place clean and healthy, this is a serious breach of both courtesy, poor modeling for guests, and a blatant disregard for members well being. Pick up after yourselves and put the weights back you animals. Also, wipe down the damn machines after you use them. Place appears to be just like a prison rec yard. Bunch of loud inconciderate people. Staff doesn't do anything about weights being left all over the place. Dumbbells are never where they should be. Lots of equipment broken. Also, the place is packed regularly. Unfortunately there is no other option in the immediate area... The only gym I have ever been to where staff does not pick up weights and put them back where they belong. Also the only gym I have ever been to where almost literally all the dumbbells on the top row are missing from the rack except 70 lbs and above. read more

Scammed me! I was told I had the more expensive membership so I could cancel at anytime. Covid hit several months after attending they didn't charge me for a month due to being closed but even when everything was on lockdown still they reopened. I called to see if I could freeze the membership or cancel because of covid. They said there's nothing we can do & that I had signed up for a 6 month membership so I would have to continue paying till that time is over. I told them I purposely bought the flexible one because I travel and they said no you didn't. The guy who had sold me the membership lied that the one I was getting was flexible and he still charged me the amount of the flexible one! If this review can help someone else not be scammed thats great! The facility is fantastic but the employees will try to charge you more. I was shocked I had to be concerned about a big corporation like LA Fitness scamming me... but it happened. read more

The staff here are incredibly rude and moody. The gym is constantly filthy and weights are never where they should be. It's ashame that this is the only gym in my immediate area and the employees should be ashamed. I joined and cancelled the same day. it's dirty, a lot of cardio need servicing and many are rusted, the free weight room is way to compact for the amount of people that are in there. people hog the benches so good luck getting on one of those (people do multiple exercise on the benches). the staff are very lazy and disrespectful, there is never cleaning done , bathrooms are disgustin, no one wipes down the machines after use and the floor all in the facility is dirt. I've worked out in 20+ gyms since being in military and moving around a lot this place I would never recommend period. thank God I cancelled and am going to a gym down the street. don't sign up period. read more

After shutting its somewhat aging doors for two weeks in March of 2016 for a much needed face-lift, LA Fitness reopens. Alas, like a lot of former celebrities looking to nip and tuck their way towards reviving a heyday a decade or two in the past...the new LA Fitness somehow manages to look both familiar and also slightly depressing. But to their credit, they did install some faux hardwood flooring, And the new flooring is indeed an improvement over the brown-carpetting-and-orange-wallpaper to which we'd all become accustomed...a color scheme that had more in common with "That 70`s Show" than with exercise and fitness. But that's an aside. The point is, LA Fitness clearly cares about its customers, and this caring is evidenced by the new laminate flooring. And while less-ambitious companies might just throw in some laminate flooring, rest on their laurels, and call it a day, LA Fitness wasnt nearly done. They also repainted part of the men's old locker room and put up a poster of a smiling man, exercising. The placid expression on the face of Mr. Locker Room Poster Man made it clear he was very happy to be exercising at the newly-refurbished LA Fitness. Either that, or he had just invested in a laminate wood-flooring company that had just signed a big national contact. In hindsight, I guess LA Fitness was actually nearly done at this point. That's because, like a D-list Hollywood celebrity who had grown tanned, tucked, and lethargic after years of squandering the support of the public, the new LA Fitness face-lift actually does nothing so much as draw attention to the various inadequacies still left glaringly untended. On tonight's trip, I counted eleven recumbent bikes on the cardio floor. Why do I know this exact number, you might ask? Because I had a lot of trouble finding one that actually worked. Five of the eleven were inoperative...a ratio of working- to not-working equipment that generally hasn't changed much in the last 24 months at this location, and I suspect at others. But, I'm happy to say that the hip new design aesthetic carries over into this area, too. In the past, unsuspecting customers had to blindly wander from machine to machine in hopes of finding one that works. Today instead, LA Fitness treats it's customers not just to faux flooring, but also to faux ironic hipster signage...this, in the form of sharpie-scrawled handwritten messages on masking tape. Seriously; take a look at the photos I uploaded. You can't make this stuff up. Anyway, I'm not sure how this whole face-lift thing will play to LA Fitness' core audience. But I do give them kuddos for going the extra inch. Well, I'm not sure they went the entire extra inch. So I'll give them kuddos for not just rolling over and dying. Of all of the la fitness pools in NE Atlanta ...this has the coldest pool. Besides the cold water there is a constant cold air blowing making the pool area very cool especially this time of year In the last 5 months they fill the pool until it is almost running over the top. If you are looking under 5' 8' don't go to the middle of the pool due to the depth. I hope they fix this otherwise I will find a warmer place to swim read more

So I came here for a 3 day pass, as soon as front lady desk knew I had a three day pass she instantly started treating me and my friend differently. I went in to join today. The person introducing me to all the rates and expenses got frustrated with his mask and took it off completely. While it was around his chin I asked him if he was vaccinated and he said no. I made him put his mask back on and then asked to speak to someone who was vaccinated. No one on the staff could help me that was vaccinated. Mask use not consistent among employees I saw. If you have to interact with people and you choose not to be vaccinated I don't see that you have a choice about wearing a mask. This is just my opinion, but they got none of my money. read more

Great location. This is my home gym and I rarely go to any others, primarily because all other locations are 8+ minutes away. I've seen some new machines added this year which is great. The only complaint I have is the facility is not kept clean. The bathrooms are always a mess and while I understand this gym has high traffic and is open 7 days a week, there should be a change in the cleaning schedule/quality. Staff is OK. There are different faces different days of the week. My last visit there was a whole new staff at the front desk and they had an outstanding attitude. Most other times they don't even greet you. Tip: It's really crowded on Mon, Tues and Wed between 5 - 7pm. I'd suggest going later evening or the weekends. Classes are available at convenient times for those who have full time day jobs. There is a smoothie place inside, but they don't take Apple Pay. I highly suggest adding this for convenience. read more

I visited from out of town and a friend and I wanted to get a workout in on a Saturday morning. The interior of this LA Fitness looks a little dated considering. It can definitely use an update. The front desk staff are friendly, but the guest check-in process was a mess. I don't understand why they need to over complicate something that doesn't really need to be complicated. The equipment in here are also dated as well. In general as a gym it's a little lacking and the set up needs an overhaul. I've also notice a majority of patrons here lack gym etiquette, you can't really blame them for that, but they could definitely make it more aware and enforce gym-goers to comply. read more

Went today to discuss my membership with an associate. I was told hat I could be emailed a cancellation form ( although I never stated that I wanted to cancel my membership). Not one person in the gym that I could see while at the front desk was wearing a mask entering or leaving. I can understand taking it off during your workout but surely I would think that wearing one while walking through the facility would be of importance. I've yet to receive the email with my cancellation form so I will be returning to the facility to talk to an associate to cancel my membership after seeing the lack of precaution taken at the facility. read more

This is the LA Fitness closest to my house and this is the LA Fitness that I hate the most. For one, it's crowded. It's always crowded. It can be 11 am on a Tuesday and it's crowded. I think they let you park across the street at Picadilly or O'Charley's now, but they didn't use to and 15 minutes of my gym workout was dedicated to circling the lot looking for parking. You can forget getting on a treadmill during peak hours - the line is like 5 deep just waiting. This is an older LA Fitness. I remember when it opened - probably in 2002 or 2003. So the equipment is definitely on the older side. No TVs on cardio machines here. Not that it's a huge negative, but it'd be nice if they did do some updates. They do have racquetball, basketball and a pool, none of which I've ever used, but people seem to enjoy them, I guess. The cardio machines are all upstairs and there's this one skylight that's over two of the treadmills and if you're there in the daytime, especially during the summer, it's hot! Get rid of the skylight. Please get rid of the skylight. My aggravation for this particular LA Fitness runs rather deep, but they sort of are the only inexpensive gym chain in town, so what are you going to do? read more

Been a member to LA Fitness for quite some time now and I try to avoid this location as much as possible even though I am literally like 5 minutes away. It used to be really great, and i even had a personal trainer here too. But now, there are too many machines that are down for service, which is very annoying. I don't understand the point of paying a monthly fee when I have to wait every single time for a machine to open up. On the rare occasion that I do come here, I notice that a lot of the "trainers" and staff members are huddled around chatting with each other and not working. The towels and purell are in constant need of being refilled and it gets really hot in here. Would it hurt to turn up the AC slightly please? Instead, they make do with two big fans upstairs near the treadmills. But that doesn't do any good when you are unfortunate enough to share the gym with that douche bag who thinks it's ok to set the fan blowing directly at them and not at anyone else. I have only tried the shower once, and quit as soon as I saw a wad of blonde hair (I am brunette so I know it wasn't mine) plastered on walls and collecting in drains. At least the LA fitness in Brookhaven has several cleaning staff throughout the day. read more

I only use the pool, so that's what I'm rating it on. I've been testing out the different LA Fitness locations around Atlanta. This one has the best pool so far because it's deeper than the others (3-4 ft on ends - I literally have scraped knees from the Perimeter location's super shallow corners) and not overwhelmed with chemicals. It also has more lanes. Overall, I think this location was remodeled more recently than others. The lockers are larger and the ceiling isn't peeling. I have been appalled at the Holcomb Bridge location. However, I have to agree with everyone else - it's VERY CROWDED. I usually swim in the mornings, arriving around 10 am. The morning rush is showering (there's a line) and I still might might have to wait for a lane or share. In the women's locker room, the sauna is always birghtly lit with people talking loudly. In fact, in general there are a lot of loud conversations going on around the locker room. It's larger and newer-looking than the others I've visited, but I honestly can't say I'm thrilled with LA Fitness overall. Being new to Atlanta, I'm shocked at how few and far between the gyms are. LA fitness seems to be the best price for pool access and the many locations work for my erratic work schedule. read more

I recently worked out at this gym location as a guest of a friend who is a member. The guest services rep gave me a 2-week pass to use at any location which I thought was great. My excitement didn't last too long. I was looking forward to playing racquetball since my regular gym does not have racquetball courts. We asked the rep for equipment and was told they don't have any to loan. That was disappointing since I had borrowed racquetball equipment from another LA Fitness location in the past. My friend and I decided we would just do cardio and free weights instead. As soon as I got on the elliptical machine, someone came on the intercom to announce the gym would be closing in 30 min. This was very frustrating since it was only 7:30 pm and I'm used to my gym which is open 24 hrs. I decided to just do 30 min of cardio for a light workout. Twenty minutes later, the music stopped and the lights were turned out. My friend and I were disappointed we weren't able to complete our workout but it was ok because the machines were outdated and not functioning properly. They also had an annoying old school fan blowing in the cardio area. I did not have a good experience at this gym and had already decided I would not return. I quickly went to the women's locker room to use the restroom and was startled when the male guest services rep came walking through the ladies locker room to the restroom so he could inform me they were closed. This upset me greatly because there was no warning that a male was entering the area. It is very typical for ladies to undress in the open area and although that was not the case with me or the other young lady in the restroom area, the guy did not know that before he came storming in. When I shared this info with my friend who invited me, he said there was a woman walking through the men's locker room cleaning up while men were in there getting dressed. Not only is the facility outdated with inadequate equipment, but the staff is unprofessional and does not respect privacy. I will remain a member of LifeTime Fitness because I have never experienced any of the above issues there. read more

I've been going to different LA Fitness locations to get the feel of how the classes are going to be. I mainly go for the classes because being on a machine can get boring and repetitive. This LA Fitness is definitely the largest of all the ones I've been to. It took me a while to even find parking. I already saw many cars just parking on he side. I wanted to go to the 7 pm Step plus Abs class but was waiting for a friend since I have guest privileges with my membership, she arrived 5 minutes late and we went to the studio. It was packed. There was no more room to walk in. We watched from the outside and it looked like a pretty advance class. I wanted to try the class out since I've never done it before. So I decided to wait till 8 pm for the Cardio Kickboxing class. While walking, I've noticed that there are at least 4 hip abductors, 2 for outer thighs, 2 for inner thighs. Most gyms only have one of each. All the weights were downstairs and the cardio machines upstairs. All the cardio machines were taken. Seriously. This gym is packed. We waited 10 minutes for a machine. I almost walked out and decided to go to another gym but luckily someone finally got off the elliptical and treadmill. When it was finally 8 pm, we went to the studio for Cardio Kickboxing. In about 5 minutes, I was sweating up a storm, someone turned the heat up, only in the studio. Why? I have no idea. The class wasn't too intense or hard compared to the other Kickboxing Cardio classes I've taken at other LA Fitness locations but the studio was too darn hot!! Because of that, I will not go back at to this location at all. Studio is too hot. Crowded - cardio machines all taken. Parking Lot is packed. I'm only rating it a 3 out of 5 cause I like LA Fitness in general, just not at the Northlake location. read more

Every time I use the women's sauna someone is eating. I have seen apples, tangerines, protein shakes, someone slicing a mango, pb&j, and candy. It is unsanitary and gross. Of course the other patrons get angry when you point that out. Sometimes there are people applying Coconut oil and other lotions. If there ever was a sign it was ripped down. Other than wariness of the wet areas, the gym is a bit shabby, but clean enough. I think a remodel is scheduled later this month. Overall, the people are friendly and the equipment works. read more

I just joined LA Fitness a few weeks ago and so far, I'm liking this gym. Then again, this is the first gym I've ever joined. :) They have a ton of machines and free weights, the staff has been pretty helpful (though sometimes it's hard to find someone to help you because the place is so big) and they have a pool, hot tub and sauna. There are always dudes in the hot tub - and not so hot looking dudes, I might add, so maybe they should get out of the hot tub sometime and get on a machine! Haha. So needless to say, I've never gone in the hot tub, but the pool was nice and clean for laps. It's always pretty crowded, at least when I go, but I've never had trouble securing a machine. read more
