I started going to this gym a few weeks ago and no major complaints. I have asked multiple employees about signing up for the classes and they all gave me very different answers. One said you needed to book through the app (only 1 class had the option to book). Another said just show up, they are first come first serve. I also never got a tour of the gym. It would have been nice. My biggest complaint is the dumbells and the chaos of them all. This is a 2-part problem. People should put things back where they go and if it is a complete mess, staff should help keep it organized. As a new member I have to literally walk the entire wall looking for the weights I need. Often times there are no wipes in the weight lifting section of the gym. I assume this is a constant problem as I have seen a few people packing their own (at least 4 different people). The bathrooms are clean from what i have seen and the machines I use all seem to be in commission. There's plenty of parking as well. This national chain has some things going for it. All of the locations are big and spacious, and clean.. They do a good job of keeping equipment up and running. Plenty of classes as well. Over the years I hey have been making changes that do impact the overall clubs. They cut out towel service first. Then locked off the steam rooms. Both making this more like a Planet Fitness on steroids rather than an upscale club. They do have a hot tub and a pool both saving this chain from the aforementioned fate. If I could give LA fitness Watkins Drive a zero star rating I would. The club is always a disappointment. The spa is usually filthy and below water level. The employees have no knowledge of how to fill the spa let alone attempt to clean it. The sauna is funky, and filthy. The only time that's not the case is when they are closed for months for repairs. The attendants don't replace the toilet tissue and paper towels until a complaint is made. When complaint email is sent to the corporate office, it's intercepted by the local club. I want to give this gym more stars; however, since they started to occupy the old 24/7 Fitness, this location has decreased. Many of the equipment have "scheduled for service," and the continued issue with the "sauna" being broken for weeks and, as of today, is still not working. The men's bathroom has only one stall that is workable. The other stalls have "scheduled for service" as well. LA Fitness, if you plan to close this location, do so instead of allowing it to crumble with improper and no functional equipment we all pay for. LA Fitness do better! Yes. If you value your health, stay away from this place. It is unclean and gross. The men's locker room is usually littered with water bottles and paper towels. The pool water is always cloudy. The hot tub has too much white foam from dead skin, dirt and body oil. One of the shower stalls has a clogged drain so you stand in dirty water when you shower. Nasty. There's no lifeguards on duty so the pH levels in the pool and hot tub are checked once a week. Stay outta that slimy water if you don't wanna get a skin rash. I was walking through the club the other night and found a dead waterbug in the hallway. Trifling. I pay $35 a month and the manager blames the dirt and grime on: patrons who won't clean up after themselves. I've complained to the management, but they shrug it off like it's no big deal. The customer service and communication that I received yesterday was simply unmatched! My trainer was out for the day however, I still wanted to train in order to keep the flow of my schedule consistent. The manager Rex jumped right in and reminded me that as a member I am a priority and that their staff will make every effort to hold that truth. Rex told me he would he would handle it and he did, because it was already the afternoon the other trainers were booked so Rex told me he would train me himself after his own work hours! Upon arrival, he far exceed my expectations. Rex was extremely professional, knowledgeable and welcoming. Customer service means everything to me when I spend the kind of money that I do at this gym and people like Rex deserves to train all staff on what customer service means. Job well done. read more

This location can be ok, depends on when you come. It can be a major distraction lol a lot of candy. PreCovid I had no issues. I would come here religiously. Staff was cool, and would greet you and keep the grounds clean. They cant be everywhere, so you have to do your share. Theres some lazy bums that wont wipe down or clean up after themselves. Worse ones are the ones that dont rerack the weights. Most areas were clean, no stenches or odors of funk. Post covid- I had the chance to visit the gym with a friend because they had a special email where they can try it without unfreezing the membership. This is where I have a bone to pick with. Members still pay the FULL price and get half sh*T... They close at 8pm (m-f), weekends at 5pm?!!! My classes are not offered frequently!! I miss kickboxing, zumba and yoga. Basketball courts area closed, saunas are closed, pools closed..... So what Im I paying my dues for if I reactive it?? For guys to sit at the front desk looking cute? nahhh.. Some people arent following proper hygiene, so if you do come to the gym, do your share, wear your mask, wipe down the equipment before and after. Make sure if you do use the locker rooms, lock up and dont walk barefooted. Im not sure if Im going to reactivate.... I recently moved to the area and desired to switch my membership over to this location but...no one has returned my calls. I've called everyday for a week to speak to the General Manager (I was told this is the only person who can switch my account over) and have yet to speak to him. I've left multiple messages and, of course, my contact Information. To this day (7 full days) I've not heard a peep. This is so disappointing as I've been a member of the LA Fitness brand for years and even across multiple states. This is the first time I've had such poor customer service. I like this gym. It does the job and I know what to expect every time I go in. But I will say that it could realllllly do with an expansion and update. It is one of the smallest gyms I've ever been to to be honest and as more ppl move into the area it's starting to feel smaller and smaller. I also would really enjoy more updated equipment here- I've reached a lot of goals here but I'm at a point where I might be outgrowing what they have to offer (everything's pretty basic, not much for switching up your routines). I've been a member for 5 years and 0 new pieces of equipment have been brought it. We still only have 3 squat racks and I have to get here at 5 am to still fight for them. So much is changing in fitness and this location needs to be upgraded to stay on track with that. I also wish there were places to do hiit stuff or just workout in one place off to the side. If you get there at the right time and there's no classes you can use the group fitness room but that can either be busy/not private enough/you have to haul in equipment which makes it hard to plan your workout around. Honestly, my greatest suggestion for the GM would be to just get rid of the racketball courts (I've only seen ppl use it once in a blue moon) and expand the weight area/add in a turf or something along those lines. I've been a member here for years and will stay a member for years to come but I have been considering getting an additional membership somewhere to get different equipment and have more diversity in my routine (and in THIS economy, I'm not really trying to add in a whole new bill). Also, just so it's noted for whoever reads these - taking away the kids club that came with the membership and adding in a paid service (MyDojo) that most members can't and don't want to use was crazy. Especially being what I said before. I'm not even a parent but I understood the kids club was an included amenity but now yall just took away an amenity without adjusting membership prices AND didn't address real concerns like cleanliness, space, or upgrades. Most of the staff members are courteous. The layout doesn't flow well, but there's a good amount of cardio equipment. Some of the equipment is rusty, but functional. Best times are early on weekdays, imo itnot crowded and still pretty clean as opposed to later in the day. Weekends I find that after 4p is fairly crowd free. I LOVE that Smoothie King is right next door and if there's overflow they open their location inside the gym. Some sit with a blank stare and don't greet or respond when greeted by members. I've been to the gym several times since they've reopened. My main concern is there are several members huffing and puffing without masks on using weight and cardio equipment. I am aware that people need to pull their mask down to catch a breath or hydrate, but seriously no mask from entry to exit?! There's nothing worse than doing your due diligence to keep yourself and others safe yet people are still not taking this pandemic seriously. If you cannot wear a mask; workout at home or outdoors away from groups of people. Speaking as healthcare professional this is extremely unnerving and frustrating. It seems people are delusional or just don't give a damn. Also, there ARE STILL PEOPLE that don't wipe down equipment after using. Come on, people, really?! Extremely discourteous and unsanitary, especially with our current health crisis. I have been a member of this gym for a couple of years now. The most convenient thing about it is that it is a simple jog from my house. When it first opened, it was around Halloween and the staff were all wearing some sort of costume. I showed interest in joining, so I got some info and was on my merry way. Compared with Gold's Gym, LA Fitness is more expensive in every aspect. The initiation fee is higher, depending on which monthly plan you decide to go with (the higher the monthly plan you pick is, the lower the initiation fee is). For example, when I signed up, to pay $30 monthly, the initiation fee was $100. Gold's Gym now has a $10 plan, and I don't think there is an initiation fee now if you're not doing classes and stuff. Gold's Gym seems like a reasonable option, but LA Fitness has a few perks: - A pool -Racquetball courts -A court for volleyball or basketball -A sauna -A jacuzzi It also helps that I don't have to drive 15 minutes to get to this place, so no gas is being wasted! A simple jog and I am there. If I don't jog though, a 2 minute drive is nothing. This place is just so convenient for me for now. When you walk in, you can see a daycare to the left, the pool and staff to the right, and generally see everything but the locker room and the weightlifting area straight ahead. There are plenty of options for classes, and the schedule is always posted right next to where you have to scan in. There is also a notice if the pool is closed for maintenance, which happens occasionally. Generally, the staff are very nice and there really is no equipment that they are lacking that I wish they had. One complaint is that the dumbbells are never placed back on the rack like the signs encourage, but that isn't enforced or obeyed anywhere from my experience. I wish the hand sanitizer and seat wiper dispensers were also a little more abundant throughout the gym. Otherwise, get to working out! No pain, no gain! I've recently visited this location on a Sunday afternoon and had a fairly positive experience. I think the overall setup of the gym is odd (compared to other locations) but the equipment is up to par for getting in a good workout. The poor rating leads me to believe that this gym is overcrowded and frustrating at peak times; thus, I will not be visiting during those hours. Ok, so I was really excited that this gym was opening up behind my house. I figure "its close, cheap" lets do it. Signed up and after the first 2 days instant regret. Waaayy too many people in this gym. Crowded beyond belief. The staff is friendly but not very knowledgeable. Things seem to be very unorganized and chaotic. The class schedule is very inconvenient and don't even try to join a spin class. People line up around the service desk to sign up for spin classes and they're impeding the entrance of other members. The people at the front desk don't know which way is up. You ask a question and they look at you as if you've spoken to them in Chinese. This location receives 2 stars because of the poor service. Overall this is not a bad location. It gets a little crowded from 5p - 7p so stay away during those hours if you do not like crowds. If you are going to workout then you should be just fine here. Just watch for the black mold in the showers on the curtains and on the soap dispensers. Now on to the service- The real complaint about this place is the lack of integrity by the sales/new membership staff. If you decide to refer your friends/family do not bother working with Sean Walker. He is dishonest and lacks integrity. Specifically he will sign your friends/family up under your membership even though you tell him that you do not want to be responsible for another member's bill. He will assure you everything is okay but then you will receive charges for your friends/family membership. Then you will have to spend weeks trying to fix the mess he made while LaFitness harasses you mercilessly. I came here to get a workout in at 11am. This is an easily accessible gym, with a great location and lots of parking. As I only came to work out, I can't speak on the classes or other amenities. This location has cardio/aerobic equipment including an upper body ergometer, resistance machines, free weights, classrooms, a basketball court, racquetball courts and a pool. I did see the smoothie area mentioned by another a reviewer and while still empty there were multiple signs that said "coming soon". The free weights were placed in some of the wrong sections but other than that this a good gym. Overall the gym was clean, had good equipment variety and wasn't overcrowded. read more

I arrived at the LA Fitness and I tell the person at the front i have a 3 day visitor pass and he rings me in then tells me to visit the manager (BAD MISTAKE) The manager or whoever he was basically hounded me to get a membership after i told him numerous times i want to workout first then think and make my decision. I understand job is to get you to sign up but it got so bad that i considered getting up and walking out of the gym. But i didn't and after the guy couldn't bring the price down anymore where i told him I didn't want to join today (For the 3rd or 4th time i lost count at that point) he seemed to become less chatty. After that (About 30minutes no exaggeration). I finally was able to change my clothes and workout. I got a good workout in and the surrounding guest were pretty friendly except one guy who thought it was ok to bring his iPod doc to play the newest Future CD then questioned management when asked to turn it off and use headphones. But my advice don't go there unless you are ready with credit card in hand to join the gym. But the guy who i met in the beginning really turned me off which is why i gave this place 2 stars and i will most likely sign up at a different LA Fitness. read more
