I've been visiting several LA Fitness locations to explore their water fitness options, and overall, the gyms are consistent. Each location is clean, with well-maintained equipment, and nice pools. I attend water aerobics five days a week, but unfortunately, no single location offers it every day. This particular location stands out as the best so far, mainly because of the water fitness instructor, Carlos. His classes are by far the most effective. He gives a great workout that challenges you while still being fun. If you're into water aerobics, I highly recommend trying his class. The only con so far is there isn't a steam room at this location. read more

Back at it, and for real this time! I absolutely love this gym and have been coming here for years. It's a well-maintained, clean, and welcoming space that always delivers a great workout experience. The variety of equipment is fantastic--whether you're into lifting, cardio, or something in between, they've got you covered. There are plenty of treadmills and ellipticals, so even during peak hours, I've never had to wait. And can we talk about the sauna? It's amazing! It's such a nice way to relax after a workout and one of the reasons I keep coming back. This gym is proof that consistency and quality make all the difference. Standard La fitness. I've never had issues getting a treadmill and rarely weights. If you're coming to swim here, it's horrendous. They've leased out the pool to a swim school that takes up 2/3 lanes at every reasonable time of the day. Everyone else who wants to swim in between these times are forced into small blocks and it's almost impossible to get a lane. read more

good, but showing signs of age the tile in the sauna is old and missing tiles carpet in the back area was finally replaced after months of looking like a cat tore it up showers were missing shower curtains the other day- yes all of the showers in the men's locker room- no shower curtains. the gym looks like it was cutting edge around 2005. it's now 2025. high sign up fees- $99 plus $60 once a year for "upkeep"- no clue what that means. I guess the $32 a month from thousands of us isn't enough? read more

Ok - I've got to admit that the only reason this club was a signature (before) is the location and towels. Used to be filthy and unorganized with some rude or pompous employees. Now, front desk peeps are friendly, and one of the workers (pretty sure his name is Jonathan) works his butt off to keep things EXTRA tidy! Best worker / cleaner they have in the entire LAF network! HE & his work ethic makes this club a signature . Couple days ago, he was scrubbing around the hot tub, today he's mopping every sq inch of the group class area! Takes pride in his work (vs it being a miserable chore) and it shows! LAF Tampa Dale Mabry sets the bar for a 5-star rating, but this place is much improved. The gym feeling like it's been left in the 90s. It's poorly maintained, rather dirty, and smelly, and detracts from the overall experience. Stefan the manager was extremely rude. There is a billing issue ($280 monthly charge continues even though I canceled) that I called about and he was absolutely incompetent in handling this call. Instead of hearing me out he said he wanted to get to the end of the conversation and told me he would not help me. I know other staff at the gym and reached out, they told me he is known for poor customer service. Because he was so rude and said many personal things, I am telling my friends and family to avoid this gym, and especially Stefan. The specific issue was that I canceled in December. They sent me several emails asking me to join again. Then they continued to charge me $280 for nothing. Stefan said this was my own fault because I asked to cancel my membership but I did not ask to cancel my training. He was the one who arranged this in December. I asked if I could use my training and he said no because they canceled my membership. In other words he had arranged things so I would be charged for nothing. Gym is relatively clean and well kept. I asked about the use of cell phones and was told they can't 'police' people. It is so annoying if someone is sitting on the equipment staring into or talking on a cell phone. Please move outside the exercise area if you have to be on your phone. With the area that this gym is in you would think that all the equipment would be state of the art and new. It's old and outdated but they keep it clean and if it ain't broke don't fix it. Minor issue if you ask me. However, there's an old lady that's super rude to me, never says good morning and one morning when I went in I went to scan my barcode at the scanner she was standing in front of and in a real nasty tone she said you need to scan the other this one isn't working. Another time I asked for a towel and she said again in a nasty tone, do you pay the towel fee? I told her no I had no idea. Well just chill lady your lady isn't that stressful. Unfortunately, this gym is not up to par for a Signature level gym. Too crowded, outdated and not enough equipment!

So many great things about LA fitness at the Grove, especially Jessica and Jonathan, most of the equipment and facilities that work and the interior which is in good condition. But the number of teenage and young adult males vaping practically ruins the Club stature and experience. I've been a member here for eight years and vaping has increased greatly over the last year. It puts members who don't want vaping in the position to confront the offenders, and or report them to staff. Guess how many members will do that? In some cases for those that do retribution has occurred. I also belong to Fitness CF and the Dr Phillips Y and they clearly do not allow vaping and they enforce it. I know members at these other clubs that have left LA fitness at the Grove. LA Fitness Corporate needs to develop enforceable standards and staff to implement them. Male employees need to frequently walk the club when and where vaping is occurring such as the men's locker room, bathroom even the sauna. No vaping signs need to be posted in the club and added to the clubs' website along with many other behaviors that are not allowed. The Grove is one of your few Signature Clubs left in Florida. It's past time to treat it like one of your best clubs in the state. read more

Whenever i visit orlando i use this gym. Staff doesnt make enough effort , or any rounds, to tell the members to rerack the weights. There are people who have 4-5 sets of dumbbells next to their bench so you have to wait a long time for the weights to free up. You need to hunt for the handles to use the cable machines because they are never around when you need them. People remove the handles from the machines and misplace them. And the staff makes zero effort to tell the highschoolers to not congregate around the machines when they 'hang with friends' between the hours of 4pm and 8pm. So forget about weight training during these hours. Expressing concerns or complaints with the front desk staff doesn't help. Cleaning crew is always around and they do a great job keeping the facility clean. The weight areas and the lockers are maintained well. read more

I came in for the first time to this gym and Olivia at the front desk was fantastic! Kind, knowledgeable and so very quick to get me all set up. She made recommendations, we talked about the pool and the different available machinery and classes of this gym. She really made this a very present first experience! Thanks Olivia! This gym is quite large, there is a second floor that appears to be dedicated to quite a few walking/jogging machines. Although here is no dedicated ladies section there are plenty of different area and well spaced for one to go to. There is a weight section a squash/handball section and so much more. It was very clean and machines easy to use. I do believe the only down fall I would say is the locker room shower area, was quite run down. The curtains in the shower were a bit moldy due to the constant humidity in there and the walls the same. The showers are very small and there are hooks to hand your belongings out side. There is a wonderful sauna and direct access to the pool from there. I look forward to when I am in this area again I can work out and enjoy this gym and the facilities. read more

This is a joke. Masks are required. But if you're lifting at your station you can pull it below your mouth and have it on your chin. But you can't take it off. Been coming here for over a year now. It's OK. I've seen better la fitnesses in other areas but this is the closest to my house. I only use the treadmill so for me it works. My only big complaint is that the AC sucks upstairs (where the cardio is) it's really hot most of the time especially when it's crowded. Also it could be cleaner but I know it's a busy location and as long as they have those spray bottles and paper towels I'll clean it myself lol read more

For over $30 I would expect more quite often has several broken machines...treadmill's usually fairly dirty to very dirty. One might consider this kind of petty but this is supposed to be highlighted as one of their exclusive gyms so I would expect the TVs to work on the treadmill's over half don't work. This is just an average gym why it's considered one of the exclusive LA fitnesses I have no idea getting a towel does not make up for the shortcomings IMO. read more

Completely rude, unprofessional and doesn't care about you but your money. Fun fact is she is the manager. The person who tends to be more professional, but no. I personally will not go back to this location again. 1 the staffs are rude (manager was rude to me the first day, after I told him that I need to think about to sign up, he was not polite, he gave me a glare) the staff lied to me about the pool maintenance time. I drove back and forth into different la fitness. The time wasted to talk to customer service with cancellations is long. They would not even want you cancel over the phone. I was told and I quote " bring some whiteout and put them on there yourself .. when I came to talk to the general manager they did not care that their employees was rude and said this to me .. The value for the dollar is terrible and trying to cancel in a civilized manner has been even worse. Multiple phone calls telling me I must come in person to cancel even after moving. I know I had at least one call in the middle of the day (1:30pm) where I am still told the person to talk to about cancelling is not there. After a few months of charges, I happen to in the area in person. I ask to talk to someone to cancel my account and am told no one can do it. They say try calling tomorrow during the day.... Now I have to be the person raging up front only to be told there is nothing they can do still except send me an email and a form to mail in... Why did I need to come in just to be told that I can just do this online after more hassle with creating an account and finding the correct two forms and having to go out of my way yet again to mail the thing... I ended up leaving without even having cancelled my account and more hoops to jump through yet. I feel like my whole experience with customer service in this place, even before this experience there were others, has been just awful. Everything felt about getting more money out of you. Update to my previous review. I have continued to workout at this gym for years now and it has become worse every year. It is no longer anywhere near what it used to be. It's more of a 2.5-3 star gym now. Machines stay broken or in need or repair for weeks...the cleanliness isn't anywhere close to what it was the first year or two they opened. The bathrooms are constantly filthy, several weights not being re racked, the sauna is falling apart (and has been for months but they have done nothing), there have been brown stains on the bathroom wall in one of the stalls (can only imagine what it is) for over a year now...they keep taking away workout space and converting more and more area of the gym to "personal training areas only"...they took away towel service from several members and now charge an additional "amenities fee" for towels....the list goes on. It's really sad to see what this gym went from to what it is now. This gym used to be set apart from other LA Fitnesses...now it's just like all the rest of them. Not only was the management at this location incredibly rude and borderline aggressive when it came to the use of their specialized equipment, but they've also charged my sister every month for the last three months despite the multiple calls trying to cancel her membership. Every time they've said "Oh, this is the last month. We can't cancel it in the middle of the month." And every month, they keep charging her credit card. Gym is pretty uncrowded compared to other LAF locations -- I used to go to the Kirkman location, and that was completely packed no matter the time. I am happy to pay a little bit more so I do not have to wait 10-15 minutes for a machine. Love how close it is to my house! read more

Gym is average it has all the amenities that you would expect a so called premier gym to have. Although they cycle room doors open and listening to instructor counting out and their music over top of what is being piped out not so good... also the time it takes to get things repaired around here from sound system in cycle room, ac, equipment, carpet, etc is not representative of what should be considered a premier gym. I was thrilled to see an LA Fitness opening at the intersection of Conroy Windermere and Apopka-Vineland Road. I joined largely because LA Fitness offers raquetball but the facility is proving to be so much more than a raquetball court. Upon entering, the sightlines are much better than the visual appeal of the Dr. Phillips YMCA (where I was previously a member). Well lit and with high ceilings, LA Fitness creates an atmosphere that makes me about as eager to work out as possible (a major feat in itself). Free weights, machines, and stretching areas are segregated (to the extent possible with an open floor plan) and I have never had to wait for any equipment. Cardio is generally on the second floor, which overlooks the weight machines and free weights. There are separate first floor rooms for group exercise and spinning, and 4 raquetball courts, a basketball court, a lap pool and locker rooms. I have been working out with a trainer who is the first to actually understand my physiology. She has done wonders in a very short period of time. I highly recommend this location. read more

My family and I just rejoined LA Fitness 11/07/22. We opted to add the unlimited guest pass to our membership at the time we enrolled with Colton; since we often have visitors from out of town, and my teenager has friends he'd like to bring along. Each visit after our initial visit on 11/07/22, my teenage son has brought an underage guest with us; whom I have checked in using only MY signature and the guest's student ID, and we've encountered zero issues. That was until yesterday, 11/16/22, when I was notified by a younger female desk attendant (whose name I did not get) that guests under 18 years of age require their parent/guardian to sign for them. This was news to me entirely; as we had visited with this same exact underage guest our previous 5 visits to LA Fitness Windermere since joining. I was very confused, and rightfully so; however, I was still polite while asking why this sudden change was occurring. The female desk attendant seemed unsure of how to reply, so she offered to get her manager. That's when a woman (later identified as the Director of Personal Training, Ali) turned around and joined the conversation. I explained to her, politely, that we'd been 5 times since joining and that we'd brought this same guest with us each time and had no issue signing him in. Ali was immediately rude and replied with a condescending tone, "Well, I'm telling you that in order to bring an underage guest their parent/guardian has to be present to sign for them. I don't know what to tell you." I politely questioned why this hadn't been relayed to me prior to 11/16/22, on the other occasions I'd brought this guest, and instead of displaying any type of business acumen or exhibiting an ounce of customer service skills, Ali snapped back again saying "Well, I'm telling you a parent/guardian has to sign in order for them to come in." No offer of an apology for our inconvenience, their lack of proper instruction on guest pass restrictions at the time of enrollment - nothing. The only thing Ali had to offer was an unprofessional, and ambiguous attitude. I stated to Ali, "You seem like I'm putting you out by having this conversation, and you seem ambiguous to the inconvenience caused." Again, Ali missed the opportunity to exhibit any leadership abilities, or customer service skills and rectify this situation with a better attitude. My husband arrived at the gym 30 minutes after this encounter, and he approached Ali to discuss what had transpired between she and I. Ali IMMEDIATELY said to my husband, "Your wife came in aggressive", and "I had to step in". This is absolutely untrue. Was I confused? Absolutely! Who wouldn't be? Did I match Ali's energy after she displayed her own aggressive, condescending, and ambiguous behavior? Yes, I most certainly did. Notice how Ali is not interested in rectifying any of the issues, but rather, she's intent on escaping any accountability for her terribly unprofessional attitude and placing blame on members. My husband asked "Does the parent/guardian of the guest have to come every single time the underage guest comes? Or how does this work, so we know tomorrow when we come?" Ali DID NOT know the answer! Ali had to go and ask another staff member, and reported back that the guest's parent/guardian has to come in and sign for the underage guest once per month. That is when my husband asked for Ali's role at LA Fitness. To hear she is the DIRECTOR of personal training is disappointing, to say the least. As a certified personal trainer myself, I am appalled at the attitude displayed so openly and unapologetically to any member, let alone brand new members. I am just grateful my husband and I waited to purchase the year's worth of training package (as we do every time I join a new gym as a way to get to know staff and the facility better); because if Ali is in a leadership position and behaving this way, it tells me I can very likely expect nothing other than this treatment from the trainers she oversees. The only positive is Ms. Pam in the kids' club; she's a gem! Definitely rethinking this membership after the disgraceful behavior displayed by Ali yesterday. read more

The gym uses front desk staff to clean the facility, those people typically are students or part time Instagram models. The solution: in the city with the most housekeeping staff in the world they should be hiring part time housekeepers to come after their hotel shift to professionaly clean the facility.
