Love the food here. It's good and the staff is friendly. However we came tonight on Cinco de Mayo and there was not one bit of music!!!?! Really?! It's supposed to be a celebration and I didn't come to unintentionally eavesdrop on other people's conversations because the restaurant had no musical soundtrack at all. It was like I was eating in a cafe where the radio is broken.. It's sad really. Other than the decorations and t-shirts the atmosphere was NOT celebratory at all. Several times a year we head out to the booming mecca of Maple Valley to visit relatives. When we take the dogs we can fairly easily entertain ourselves, but with no dogs, darkness at 4:30pm and pouring rain in a subdued suburban subdivision, what does one do? One eats, that's what one does. When we drove over to La Fogata, I immediately appreciated life in Seattle. At home we wouldn't hesitate to walk a mile to a restaurant, but in Maple Valley deciding whether to use the car is a no-brainer. Rain aside, having to walk across SR-169 means risking death. So we drove. Entering into La Fogata I was happy to see plenty of booths, which often give a sense of privacy while dining. With a party of five adults and one child, however, no booth for us. No worries. Our table was located in the middle of the room, but I didn't notice any distracting noise, and there was plenty of space around our table so wait staff could move. Service was very friendly and very fast, and dished out with a sense of humor. Our waitress noticed our 2-year old niece and said, "Margaritas, everyone?" I ordered the enchiladas camarones, Stephen & his Mom ordered enchiladas suizas, and I also saw carne asada at the table as well. The carne asada looked good, if one likes red meat. Cooked medium - medium well, the meal was served on a platter with tomato, guac, sour cream, corn or flour tortillas (customer's choice), rice & beans. Stephen reported liking his enchilada plate. When my meal was served, I couldn't help noticing how beige it was. The menu, as I recalled, described shrimp, but what I got instead was shrimpmeat. I also didn't see all the veggies I thought I was ordering. Not a refried bean fan, the wait staff kindly put my beans on a separate plate for our 2-year old niece. We knew she liked them, as she kept saying, "Chip!" which meant, of course, "May I please have another taste of those delicious beans, placed ever-so-gingerly on a tortilla chip?" So, while I wasn't too appreciative of my meal, those around me were very happy. Another dose of humor followed with the bill. What looked like the owner returning the credit card and sales slip to the table, he looked at Stephen's Dad, owner of said card, and remarked, "It didn't go through." Steve's Dad, "It didn't go through?!" Owner: "Yes, it went through." Scared the bejeezus out of Steve's mother, but she appreciated the joke. It looks like the next time we experience a dark and stormy, dogless night in Maple Valley, we'll have something to do. read more

Been here three times and we've really liked everything we've had. Margaritas are freshly blended and delicious. Have been to La Fogata a couple times now in recent weeks, and find it to be a nice place, conveniently located for me. The service is very good, attentive and proactive, and the food is good. Not great, but good. The chips & salsa were fresh and tasty, and the jumbo cadillac margarita was nice. I'll definitely go back when I'm in the mood for Mexican locally. read more

Been here a few times and this is the best place for Mexican in Maple Valley that is a traditional walk-in and sit down restaurant. Wish the tortillas were homemade but the salsa and the food are excellent. Service is quite friendly and the prices are on par with the others in the area. read more

Brought the family here the other day for a small birthday day dinner and we enjoyed it. The meals arrived hot and the service was friendly and attentive. I was a little surprised at the final bill, there were five of us, two adults and three kids, and my wife had the large margarita but I was still surprised it was over $90. Food wasn't extraordinary by any means but definitely no complaints either. 5 stars for the service for sure but not sure the food and pricing hits the five star mark in our opinion. read more

our favorite work-night standby. convenient location and popular in the neighborhood. what we like best about this place is the super friendly staff (and the excellent margaritas). we always order lots of food to-go to have something for lunch the next day (the combinations make it easy and take out comes in metal trays for easy reheating). favorites in our house include carnitas de res for him and combo 17 or 18 for her. pico de gallo is good so we order an extra side of it to add fresh veggies to add to our meal). they have whole beans too - just ask. thanks everybody - you've fed us well. read more

Excellent food and service. These guys just get it! My wife and I visit on a weekly basis. We bring others from out of town for dinner. I've been there by myself, with large groups, when it's been fairly slow, and when the business has all tables filled and customers lined up. They're one of the few consistently good dining experiences; you don't wait for appetizers or beverage refills. They give you time to finish apps before you get your main course. The margaritas are excellent, and I still haven't had a dish I didn't like--and I've tried most of them, by now. Seriously, when it comes to great food and great service, La Fogata knocks it out of the park. You can't go wrong. Try the Pollo Chipotle if you like some spice, or try the chicken enchiladas if you want a milder flavor. Also, the noise level isn't obtrusive for conversations, if you're going out on a date or bringing folks who are hard of hearing--big plus for my out-of-town family. read more

We use to visit this place weekly. The problem is recently they have brought on some new help that have now customer service skill what so ever! The last time we were there the waiter just walked away half way thru our order and never said a work......then returned 15min later with our food. When we told him that we were not finished ordering earlier he said that he know and walked away again! So being on a first name basis with the owner Jose' (Sean) we told him what the problem was when we went to pay the bill. He made a joke of it and said oh you'll be back next week, we quckly responded "NO". There was no offer to help out with our bill or even an sorry. OK food very poor service. Sad to say we will not be returning here nor will we recommend this to any of our friends or family. read more

I met my daughter here for lunch because of the great reviews on this site. Maybe we hit them on an off day, but the food was just "OK" and the service was mediocre at best. The waitress was too busy playing with her laptop to refill my iced tea. I probably should have left a smaller tip. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again. read more

This restaurant is just a couple minutes from my house so we have gotten take out a few different times. The food is decent but it is the service that is lacking. They have made a mistake the last three times on our food. Tonight my husband received completely the wrong menu item which had significantly less food and is a lower sales price but we were charged for the more expensive item. My husband called to see what they could do and the woman who answered the phone refused to do anything. My husband then asked to speak with the manager. He was placed on hold and when the woman returned she said the manager did not feel like talking with customers tonight. They have lost our business. read more

The best Mexican food in Maple Valley. The salsa is to die for. One of the busers that we really like always gives us a big bowl without us ever having to ask instead of the tiny ones. We put it in everything. The food is fast a tastes great. Great place to take family and friends. read more
