Class reunion lunch and had never been here before. First customers of the day at around noon. Very impressed by the cleanliness and inviting atmosphere. Plenty of seating in booths or tables. Our server was friendly and attentive. Lots of natural light and plenty of parking. My friends opted for the Chicken sandwich and Chicken tenders. Both looked great and they were very happy with their choices. I decided on the sliders off the appetizer menu. Three nice beef patties. I am not a cheese guy so held the cheese and tomato. The grilled onions gave it a boost of flavor however the patties could have used a quick char. Nonetheless they were still tasty. I added fries for $2 and thought they were pretty tasty! As someone who works in the restaurant industry, I understand that mistakes happen. What I don't understand is the complete lack of urgency, accountability, or care. I want this place to be good, but it just isn't. What was most frustrating was the response. Our server seemed completely indifferent to the concerns we raised. We were told there was only a shift lead on duty, yet no manager or lead ever stopped by the table to check on our experience or attempt to make things right after raising multiple issues with food and drinks. Hospitality starts with leadership. When multiple issues are brought to a team's attention and management never checks in, is absent and doesn't support their line staff with meaningful guest recovery, it sends a clear message that the guest experience isn't a priority. I found that just as disappointing as the food and drinks themselves. Between the poorly executed drinks, cold food, raw fries, and lack of any meaningful service recovery, this was not a meal we'll be repeating and will be supporting establishments that care about the guest experience. I've never eaten here before or if I have I don't remember. I ordered breakfast and that's not the issue. The issue is what you use for your breakfast doesn't correlate what you charge I ordered chicken and waffles, eggs, scrambled, and two orders of grits The whole order came out to about almost $50 I understand that the price of goods have gone up, but if you're going to charge people more than use fresh products or better product products the fact that you're charging over 6 dollars for grits that are literally the packet grits not even instant grits which you can't even tell their instant but you guys are charging that for a packet of grits so I paid $12 for the Quaker oats packet grits, which is insane The waffle was undercooked, and the chicken was cooked well but as dry as all get out. I did eat the eggs so that's the only win! I get it. I totally do, but it is super insane and I am livid about the grits as a southerner to sell people packet grits for that much is basically robbery. I want to like this place.. it looks nice on the outside, even kinda cute on the inside but the food is really bad. I've been a few times through the years and always try to give it a fair shot, but have never had a really great meal there. Recently, went for brunch on Sunday. It was not busy at all which should have been a clue. They serve most of their breakfast plates with fresh biscuits. Which would be cool except the dough was completely raw. They were not edible. We notified the server who said another table also had said the same about the undercooked biscuits and they could throw in a new batch but they make take some time. When they brought the "new batch," they were not even baked. It was like they just put them on the griddle open faced and toasted them. They were weird. Besides the biscuits, the rest of the food was bland. Eggs Benedict was served with fully hard boiled yolks. Edible, but not good. Mediocre at best. read more

Hate to do this, love the vibe of this place, seems to be a decent menu, great drink menu for sure. I have been here 4 times with the hopes I can find at least one dish that hits, nothing, every single dish, all 4 different sandwiches or entree have been so flat, no flavor, and almost always lukewarm. We gave it a go but we won't be back. Please take all of the food to a table at once. Former server here and that was a priority, always found another runner/server/MANAGER to help make sure everyone at the table had their food. This has happened more than once. Noticed another table had the same problem, must be a bad habit here. One more thing STOP bringing cold butter with bread, unless you plan to supply a lighter keep it. read more

LISTEN HERE, FRONTIER FEARERS! Let me tell you about Crockett's Public House, which I need to IMMEDIATELY clarify has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with that coonskin cap-wearing fellow from Tennessee. No, no, NO - put away your frontier expectations! Upon entering (and I cannot stress this enough - there are ZERO raccoon pelts anywhere), I was greeted by a host who seemed almost apologetically eager to explain that this establishment was not, is not, and never will be themed after the King of the Wild Frontier. "Different Crockett entirely," they assured me, while nervously eyeing my disappointed children who were clearly hoping for bear-wrestling stories. The menu (which contains exactly ZERO references to the Alamo) is presented with multiple disclaimers about their complete lack of association with any historical figure who may or may not have fought bears. Their signature burger, notably NOT called "The Davy," comes with a small card explaining the statistical probability that their Crockett is an entirely different person. The walls, refreshingly devoid of frontier memorabilia, feature a running ticker display of facts about OTHER famous Crocketts throughout history. Did you know there was a professional bowler named Crockett? The staff will tell you. Repeatedly. With increasing desperation. Their cocktail menu includes a section titled "THESE ARE NOT FRONTIER-THEMED DRINKS" in bold letters. The bartender, wearing a shirt that says "Not THAT Crockett," mixes drinks while humming anything but "The Ballad of Davy Crockett." Five stars? Yes, and none of those stars have ANYTHING to do with Tennessee, thank you very much! P.S. If you hear someone start singing "Born on a mountaintop in Tennessee..." they are promptly and politely asked to leave. P.P.S. The bathroom signs read "Cowboys" and "Cowgirls" but there's a lengthy explanation posted explaining that these are MODERN agricultural terms with NO historical significance. P.P.P.S. The staff is trained to interrupt any customer who begins a sentence with "At the Alamo..." Their emergency response protocol for frontier-related inquiries is impressive. P.P.P.P.S. Their website's FAQ is just 47 variations of "No, we are not affiliated with or themed after Davy Crockett." The menu footer includes the legal disclaimer: "Any resemblance to famous frontier heroes is purely coincidental and frankly, a bit annoying at this point." I am reviewing this first impression of Crocketts while reserving the right to come back and change my mind and amend this review. I can see the potential for the stars this place got but didn't have that experience. Cute place with lots of wood and rustic motif. Cute often means small and this place is about medium in size. Came for lunch so it wasn't crowded but I bet has a wait at dinner. Our server was outstanding and friendly and kept the drinks filled. We shared "The Best Calamari" and I'll be honest, it was right up there for calling its shot. Then we got the Green Chili Burger since it seemed to be pretty popular and passed on the Flat bread Club. Thats where I feel I missed and wish I had gotten that since it looked amazing. The burger was cooked fine but a bit greasy and not anything special. Fries were actually better than the burger and that says something. At the End of the Day Crocketts PH is a good not great experience and solid 3.5 stars but that's not an option. Overpriced in my opinion ($17 cocktails) but portions were at least large and somewhat justified. If I were to return I would get the Flatbread Club and Seafood chowder...IF I were to return. read more

Had lunch there last week. I have wanted to try this place for awhile. It's cute, even though the Edison bulbs were blinding. We started with holiday special drinks, which were very tasty. Then the crispy Brussels sprouts, which were, indeed, crispy. I had the farmhouse salad, which was okay, but I would have liked more protein on it. My guest had the veggie sandwich, which was a fail. She traded up for the sliders, which I'm told were good. We picked up a burger for my husband, and he gave it a solid, "Meh, I wouldn't drive down there for it." We sat in the bar around 2:30ish. The drink service was slow, but it was busy and looked understaffed, considering the crowd. The food service was faster. I'm giving this place 5 stars only because of Shauna at the bar, otherwise it would be 4 stars. We've dined both at the bar and the dining room and all the servers were great but Shauna is exceptional! She is friendly, attentive, and always on top of things even when it's super busy. We eat at the bar almost weekly and we are always a little bummed when she's not working. Without Shauna, I'd give this place 4 stars due to some of the menu decisions by management. We've had almost everything on the menu and are very happy with quality and quantity of food. I understand that menu items get changed for various reasons but getting rid of things like the popcorn (which we love) seems odd. The profit margin has must be ridiculously high when compared to other appetizers. I just heard the empanadas are going to be seasonal and going away in October. It's one of the tastiest appetizer items; super bummed. Also, why no pancakes like at the other location? I don't get it, getting rid of a shelf stable item and what can be a frozen item, oh well. We came for happy hour. Drinks are so expensive, even with the happy hour price of $1 off. We got the mini burger (kinda dry), and the loaded fries. We didn't know and it should be on the menu that the loaded fries are garlic, chili flakes, and chives. It was spicy (we like spice) but some people don't and it isn't listed on the menu. The service was good. She was friendly and kept asking if we needed anything. It definitely wasn't worth the money to eat here during happy hour. Happy hour should be cheaper to bring people in the restaurant. Total bill for 2 at happy hour was $55. For starters, a new title has been given and inspired by none other than Dani of Crockett's!!! Haha- our family titles is a bit fascinated by potatoes. You see, there's Tater (me), Spud, Tater Tot, and Small Fry, but we are missing one for the senior in the Fam- and he requested naked fries. No seasoning, salt, and all that crap as my Father in Law would say... hence the new coined name in our household. Naked Fry. Anyway, the food, the atmosphere, the experience- that's what you're interested in. I've heard of this place, and if not mistaken, ate at a Crockett's in Sumner/Puyallup area (many moons ago), but this place is right in the neighborhood so we gave it a go. I ordered the Bacon Bacon Burger and dudes... this was a juicy burger, full of robust smokey flavor and thick cut bacon! The bacon jam was a beautiful touch with the creamy bleu cheese spread. I also ordered the Crispy Chicken Wings, which were the size of Pterodactyls! Man these wings were robust- but gotta admit- not very crispy. It had a lot of breading around it, which kind of tasted like fried donut or Indian bread. Great Buffalo flavor, but I could have done without all that bread. I would suggest some naked wings with various rubs or marinades. The Lady ordered the BLT with the Creamy Sausage and Kale soup as a side, and I'll be damned but that soup was extremely delicious! The FIL ordered the same except the soup and of course, he wanted Naked Fries. I had evening coffee while the others enjoyed some cocktails. The food was top notch, location is great, and our service was nothing short of perfection. Dani was phenomenal. Admittedly though , the one thing I could prepare you for is the sticker price- hefty bill for just three people. My dad, husband, and myself wanted to go out for an early dinner. We love trying new places, so we thought we would give Crockett's Public House a try. We were treated by friendly staff. This time we didn't start with cocktails or appetizers. But my dad did have his soda, root beer (no Dr. Pepper). Our server, Dani, was fantastic. She had patience and understanding of /with my dad. He can be difficult when placing his order. Along with questions and specifics to his ordering, one thing is he must have plain fries. She nicknamed him "Naked Fries". Which is perfect and not just because he likes plain fries, but because 38 yrs ago he nicknamed my husband "Tator" and then our first son "Spud". Thanks to Dani, he is now Naked Fry". We shared a plate of buffalo chicken wings. My hubby had a bacon burger. It was very tasty and juicy hamburger. The bacon is a nice thick cut. Not too limp and not too crispy. Perfectly cook. My dad and I had the BLT with fries. His fries plain and mine were seasoned with salt and pepper. The BLT is a large sandwich and the bacon is thick cut, perfectly cooked, not limp and not too crispy. I also had a cup of creamy sausage Kale soup. Very good soup. Great place for salads! My friend and I wanted to have a salad as we passed through Maple Valley and found this place on Yelp. We ignored the cranky reviews and went off the interesting salad options. So glad we did! I had the farmhouse, she had the Thai. We both were very impressed. We had the smaller size and it was plenty big enough for lunch. The larger would have been too much. We also had the Brussels sprouts app which was also amazing! Hubby has been here before and raved how amazing their fried chicken sandwich was along with their chipotle sauce! So we decided to come here on a Thursday night to celebrate an anniversary. The table ordered: Fried chicken sandwich Shrimp n grits Caesar salad Seafood chowder Kids fish n chips Virgin mule with mango Fried chicken sandwich: was amazing, juicy with the buttery bread and a kick a small kick with the jalapeño in the mix. Shrimp n grits: was good, filling and good amount. 6 large prawn and some sausage. The sauce was good, the grits was decent and the shrimp was cooked perfectly however the sausage was inconsistently cut so some chunks were thick some were thin which lead to some being over cooked and rubbery. However, I don't think I'd get it again. I think there's other stuff on the menu that I'd want to try. Caesar salad: got the smaller size which was still a good size! Honestly it looked like a salad from Costco. It was "okay" according to the son. Looked like it needed more dressing and I'm sure had we asked we could've gotten more. Seafood chowder: it was good, needed a bit of salt and pepper which was available on the table. It wasn't as hot as I'd hope or think it should be though.. Fish n chips: one piece of fish but a good size! It was flakey and hot so that's awesome. The fries was like the sandwich, warm and not "fresh like". Our 9 yo finished it all though and seemed to have enjoyed it. Virgin mule: the only thing I managed to get a picture of.. lol it was nice, the ginger ale had a punch to it with a slight hint of mango (you have a choice of [assuming syrup] mango, passion fruit, blackberry? Excellent food, though there were 7 of us + a baby, and originally they tried to put us in a booth. Our waitress noticed we couldn't fit and they moved us. The restaurant ambiance is modern and not cozy. The food was excellent, the Shrimp and Grits was delicious, I got to taste the Smoked Artichoke a friend had, also amazing. The service wasn't slow, but I was bummed no one cared about refilling beverages. I asked once, after that I gave up. She checked in on us and was super nice, but I think keeping sodas refilled for a large group who had appetizers, beverages, and lunch is a no brainer. We were offered dessert but it was so long after the meal, we had lost interest. I think they could easily increase beverage and dessert sales by just being a bit more attentive. I have been coming to crocketts almost semi annually for the last couple years to meet up with friends who live in the area. I grew up a couple cities over and was very impressed that teeny tiny maple valley had such a good restaurant and seems to be flourishing now that seattle is so unaffordable and is pushing everyone further and further south. Real estate talk aside, I have had the chicken and waffles, their brunch, and their burger. All tasted great in years past. Fast forward to last week. I had the thai salad, my husband and son had the ribs. Now living in texas, the holy mecca of bbq, I genuinely did not understand their selection of entree, especially at the appalling prices crocketts was charging. We have some of the best barbeque IN THE WORLD 15 minutes away from our house in texas, and these fools come to maple valley to get ribs? Lol. The st louis ribs were predictably unimpressive. My 7 year old son loved them, but my 7 year old son also told me today that panda express was a 5 star restaurant, so his opinion doesn't hold much weight. My husband ate half his rack of ribs and them brought the rest home. My son polished off his half rack of ribs and i had the unfortunate luck to find a hair in my salad. We swapped out the salad for a new one but I couldnt shake the "ewww" feeling after that and wondered if I had ingested hair from the few bites I took before my discovery. Our server was nice but was not very attentive and it took her 10 minutes to get us a refill of water. This place has really gone downhill and my semi annual visit will be no more. As others mentioned, the food is priced like it's in the middle of seattle, the service is lackluster, and the food is super sub par. Thanks for the memories crocketts, but I will be moving on. Showed up on a Friday without calling ahead for reservations and put our name on a waiting list an hour long. We actually waited less than that, but boy were they busy. Once seated our waitress came over with waters and took a drink order. When the drinks arrived we ordered the deviled eggs appetizer and our entrees. The menu lists 3 items featured on the TV show DD&D. I opted for their house burger which I very much enjoyed. Good flavor, crunchy pickle, house made sauce. My SO was pleasantly surprised by the ragu. He really liked the heat, the flavors. One of our party got the 'knife & fork' burger which is pulled pork and literally you have to eat with a knife and fork. Another got the meatballs, one of the 'on TV' dishes. I'm definitely into Crockett's! I've been to the Puyallup location several times, mostly because it's higher rated on Yelp, but I decided to give the Maple Valley location a shot. Thus far? MV has way better service and it's going to be preferred location from now on. Clean and inviting, the décor here is different than Puyallup, while having a similar vibe. This location definitely has open windows and that allows it to feel a lot more open. Service was great, which ties everything up into a nice little package. Seems like every time I go to Crockett's I see something else I want to try (apple pie and a whisky flight, anyone?!), but this time I went with a grilled marinated portobello sandwich. I really like the way they handled the portobello!! It was in slices so it had a different texture while preventing that little pool of liquid that mushrooms love to do. Fantastic, would eat again! My dining partner went with the meatballs. They looked and smelled awesome and received a positive review. Awesome experience, great food, definitely on my rotating list. read more

We three stopped in to Crockett's to try it out on a Saturday outing. Service was good, food not-bad. I had a bacon-bacon burger which was good, I liked it. Fries nothing to write home about; but I ordered a Fry-Sauce which was a little paper dipper of a watery pink stuff - wasn't for me, but when we received the Bill we were charged like $1.50 - sorry I ordered Fry Sauce. My wife had Mecican Street Tacos - she liked 'em but said her friestadted like fish (?), and our friend had Crispy Fish sandwich - she liked it. Here's my rub with Crockett's - it was dirty. Our Table was wiped clean, but was sticky; the menus were near untouchable for my wife. We made napkin placemats. The booths were uncomfortable so we moved to a Counter-Table(?) - not much improvement. So, overall, I appreciated the food which I felt was a little over-priced ($4.50 iced tea) and Nickle-and-Dimed. IF we were to try Crockett's again, we might order take out because that unclean and uncomfortable seating area is a non-starter for us. Service was good if sparce and sporadic. Do not eat here if you have ANY allergies!! We have been eating here for 5 plus years and normally they are pretty good we have had one issue. Today we ordered and I told our server I'm allergic to fresh tomatoes. The sandwich came I took a bite and immediately my mouth blew up with bumps and started to swell. I opened the bread to see tomato seeds and juice our server said she wrote no tomato.
