I came for dinner in the bar with some friends. Sarah made us feel very welcome and took great care of us. Our food came quickly and was good.

Have been here a few times now. Definitely lots of good fresh food, but it's pricey. We have had the tuna melt, fish and chips, chicken sandwich, and various drinks. Cocktails are expensive. Again, food is good, servers are nice, but it's just expensive. Music has been a bit loud too. There's lots of parking outside.

My friend really likes this place, so she wanted to meet here for dinner. I've been wanting to try this place, but only knew of the location in Puyallup. We started off with cocktails, the Blooming Grapefruit and Blackberry Margarita, which were good. She got the Simply Seared Salmon, which she usually gets, and loves. I decided to try the Sugo Ragu, and was pretty tasty. Service was wonderful.

Loaded fries. Has garlic and chili flakes.

We came for happy hour. Drinks are so expensive, even with the happy hour price of $1 off. We got the mini burger (kinda dry), and the loaded fries. We didn't know and it should be on the menu that the loaded fries are garlic, chili flakes, and chives. It was spicy (we like spice) but some people don't and it isn't listed on the menu. The service was good. She was friendly and kept asking if we needed anything. It definitely wasn't worth the money to eat here during happy hour. Happy hour should be cheaper to bring people in the restaurant. Total bill for 2 at happy hour was $55. That was 2 drinks, a mini burger, and loaded fries without adding additional toppings.

It's at the corner of one of the buildings. Dark, mid sized interior with some cool neon lights and light up marble pattern bar counter. Not very busy when I went at happy hour/dinner time on a Friday night, but the place is busier later at night on Friday/Saturday during the warmer months. Sometimes they have events and DJs. Sat at the bar and tried out some happy hour specials. Got the Korean sauce wings ($12) and cheese truffle fries ($8). Decent amount of fries, definitely has cheese flavor but not that much truffle oil aroma. I liked the wings which you get 6 per order. They weren't fried, but rather tender and juicy. Sauce was agreeable. Definitely enough food for my dinner. As for the drinks, I got the rosemary mule which is Moscow mule with some rosemary herb. The copper mug they use is good sized. Tasted refreshing although could feel the alcohol afterwards. Also tried a corpse reviver no. 2, which was a little sweet but has a punch. Cocktail prices are not cheap outside of happy hour, in the upper teens. Overall, was glad I tried the place out. Will drop by for happy hour once in a while.

Though we both liked our entrees, we both thought the protein quality of the mains is just ok. The winning dish is the mini arepas, hands down. I would order those mini arepa for my entree easily. This location is roomy. Service is warm; our server was helpful answering questions. The Food: Arepitas Fritas, $17 - 5+ Stars Four mini arepa in the appetizer section, these start with the same cornmeal (masa de maíz) base as the normal arepa, then topped with cheese, slow cooked beef, quail egg, and pink sauce. These bites are sooooo good! They sell the full-size arepas also, which will likely be a future meal. :) Platanos Fritos, $8 - 5 Stars Gotta love Latin foods with their plantains. Simple and delicious. Theirs are perfectly prepared. Camarones de Ajillo, $19 - 3.5 Stars These shrimps are cooked in garlic, herbs, and cream. The herb butter sauce is excellent, but the shrimps' quality is just ok. We liked it enough but will not order again. Asado Negro Tips, $23 - 3.5 Stars 8 oz of NY strip are cooked cubed in asado sauce, served with yuca fries and quasaca, a mini tomato and avocado salad. Again, the asado sauce is excellent, but the steak pieces are on the tough side. The yuca fries didn't stand out. This is also a 'liked it enough but won't order again' dish.

Owned by actor, celebrity and entrepreneur, Hill Harper, Asa is named after the historic Asa Mercer, from the family of Seattle's original founders from the 1800's. Today, Asa is, almost literally, at the center of everything in Mercer Island. Generous amount of street parking. Quick access to I-90, great beverages, and a wonderful and personable staff. This place is not a bar, but a modern neighborhood lounge. It is complete with fire pit, wood panels, and a unique character in both its outdoor seating, and indoor tabled lounge, that it would be difficult to duplicate in any city. Craft beer? It's there. Diet Coke from a can with lime? They got you. Signature cocktail? They have it. Uniquely designed menu inspired from vinyl records?? Asa has that too. The only thing is food. Asa is not restaurant. But it does have a very tasty handmade charcuterie platter that definitely hits the spot. Bring friends, or come to contemplate your thoughts at the bar with a staff that actually cares about your well being. You're probably already a regular after reading this review, and not even know it!! Which means... you have to stop by. Enjoy the drinks and the atmosphere, at Asa!!!!! See you there!!

I haven't been there for lunch or experienced their morning routines to comment on that. I visit in the evenings when it isn't overly busy - a challenging feat - and sat at both the bar and in the lounge area. The service has been excellent, but patience is a critical skill here as the two times I've been here there is one person attending to everyone. I have not visited during the summer with their patio open, but something tells me the addition of another with the patio keeps the server to customer ratio the same. Not that one should be in a rush at a cocktail bar! This isn't some place you dash into and dash out of. This is where you go to kick back, relax, and sip.
