We DoorDashed the food, which I know DoorDash is not a problem. I've ordered food from DoorDash multiple times and have had good quality food. We ordered a burrito de asada and it was honestly disgusting. The burrito gave off a fishy scent, and also fishy taste to the meat which indicates poor quality. The Agua frescas were decent, but the piña didn't have any bits of pineapple like some of the other places. They have a pop up tent outside of their restaurant serving Al pastor. Fresh topping bar with a variety of salsa and lots of pineapple. We ordered the Al pastor torta, 3 Al pastor tacos, 2 carne asada, and 2 lengue with a large horchata - all for $39. In comparison to California street tacos, I would say these don't compare. Everything was good but the tortillas were on the drier side, not dipped in the meat juices. Meats were well seasoned but lacked heat. I like my torta bread to be thinner and crispier since I get sick of bread quick. The melted cheese was plus though! Horchata was a hit and I gotta say their service was A+. Always on the hunt for some good quesabirria and tacos in general. Here's my pros/cons list: Pros: - The cheese was not overbearing or overflowing - The birria meat had a decent amount - The taco shells were solid and not falling apart due to it being over saturated. It also had some CRUNCHINESS! I'm always looking for that crunch since experiencing that in Cali - The consume was decent good. It was healthy amount and contained some meat pieces. It's not heavy at all in the cinnamon which is a win. - Customer service was great! - Price point was great Cons: - The asada taco meat quality seemed slightly low grade and it had zero flavor. It just tasted like meat - The quesabirria meat has some flavor but it was a little chewy... they definitely needed their meat so simmer longer to make it softer - The Al Pastor meat was cut into small cubes, but some of it was straight fat. My partner has been a long time supporter, but this was my first time. Service was okay. Cashier was not super friendly, but she probably was tired from a long day. Food took a while to come, but we took this time to grab some toppings at their self serve bar since we were taking our food home to eat. They make their El pastor outside on the weekends-- I loved this! Their pazole was my favourite, as it was perfect for this cold weather. It was less spicy (still flavourful) and was on the liquid side-- just how I like it! Their carne asada was a little tough for my liking but their lengua was the perfect texture. You had me at "Al pastor"! These al pastor tacos on Friday and Saturday nights are the real deal. It's simple, but so delicious. The smokiness of the meat topped with pineapple chunks (came in a bag that you can add on, though I wish it's grilled), then topped with the spicy green salsa *insert chef's kiss emoji". Also gotta mention the tripas and lingua tacos are some of the best I've had in Seattle also. Last but not least, the lamb shank. It's unusual to find lamb shank at a Mexican restaurant. First time eating here! Food- delicious! I had their Posole soup. Love the flavors. It was like eating a soup from my childhood. It also had plenty of meat int there as well. They make it just to the side of their restaurant! It was around $2.99 per one. Their other meats (carne asada) was around $8.99 for 4 but extra $$ for the usual premium meats. I went yesterday for Taco Tuesday (1.25 a taco!) and had a great time. The workers were very nice and sociable, and the place itself was pretty clean. A steady stream of customers came in but service remained speedy and attentive. The food was delicious. The meat wasn't dry, especially for the carne asada. There was a well stocked topping bar too, and included red and green salsa, avocado salsa, and pickled veggies. I added too much of the salsa though and it was pretty spicy so be careful with that. During Taco Tuesday, 2 orders of 4 tacos (so 8 total) came to be $12 after tax. The churros were freshly made and came with whipped cream, ice cream, and chocolate sauce for only $6.25 (before tax). Finally found a place with GREAT AL PASTOR TACOS where they carve it!!! This place is a GEM and they sell pastor outside on Fridays and Saturday's past 6pm until sell out. Prices for tacos are great in comparison to what I'm used to in Seattle. The pastor is flavorful, not super greasy and I Love the crispy bits you get. Portion of meat is solid as well. The toppings bar is plentiful - you'll find everything you need to top your taco (variety of sauces/salsas, raw white and pickled red onions, pineapple, cilantro, radish etc). They have small take out containers for your sides or ziplock bags to take goodies for take out. You can order inside the restaurant. All other items you get will come from inside the restaurant while you pick up pastor outside by the tent. There is some seating outside if you prefer eating outdoors. Walking in this evening at around 7pm, there was one person in front of our group of 5. We all wanted mexican and decided to visit Ranchito! We all each ordered margarita flights so we got to try about 15 flavors! The sweet lady at the register was very kind, helpful, and efficient! She gave some of her personal recommendations and we went from there! Their bar is on the side of the building separate from the eating area. My first meal here was unbelievable, Large portion, cheap price and full of flavor. I gave them 4/5 stars because the service was a bit slow and I needed to see if my experience was common of I just got them on a good day. I've been back about 4 times, each time it's worse. Today, my burrito had a weird taste, like maybe there was contamination in the kitchen. It was a pork burrito, but had a fishy taste and I hate seafood, so either meats mixed or they didn't clean utensils, cutting boards or containers. With Mexican food, everybody's pallet is different. I like my food hot and spicy. Many say that, but they don't mean it. Hot is heat in terms of scoville temp and spicy means a shake of seasoning instead of a pinch. This place had two salsa's and both were the worst I ever tasted. One had a serious kick of heat, but a bitter flavor. The other was read, but didn't taste like salsa at all. When I looked around. No one was using the salsa, which should be a clear sign they need to change the recipe. The tortas appear to be popular here. That said, I'm a taco/burrito guy myself. Business looks steady, but I can't trust this place and don't plan to come back. I fully expected to report I had gotten sick from my meal, but are happy to report that is not the case. I think they need to be more careful in the preparation and serving of food, and makes some traditional salsa instead of the industrial cleaning solutions they currently promote. I think the fact that this place has no immediate competition is the only reason locals frequent. Any truck or restaurant would draw a larger crown if there were available. read more
