I have very high regards with this dealership. We drove quite a ways to purchase our vehicle here and I have no regrets. My husband and I have been searching for an all electric vehicle since the beginning of the year. We've been doing research on all automakers and have visited over 7 dealerships. We have even reached out to a dealer out in Chicago, and to our surprise every other dealer had been giving us the run around and insulting us with the offer of our trade. So we sold our vehicle to a luxury dealer out in Tennessee all online sight unseen and we have closed on that deal. With that said, we had a clean slate and when my husband ran into La Fontaine Buick GMC of Highland, it changed the entire purchasing game. First they treated us with world class customer service, they did not beau around the bush. He called in the afternoon and by dinner we had purchased a brand new all electric Cadillac! I will never work with this dealership again or recommend them. I agreed to a price over the phone and drove an hour to see the used vehicle. When I arrived, the car was filthy, sticky residue on the seats and spilled dog food in the back. I asked for it to be detailed, but they said it already had been. When I questioned if this was acceptable and if LaFontaine was proud to deliver cars in this condition, they asked me what my cleaning standards were. I told them the bare minimum is that anything that can be wiped or vacuumed should be clean. They promised to re-detail the car and scheduled me for the next morning. An hour before my appointment, they called to say someone else was coming to buy the car after it was finally cleaned, because they operate on a "first come, first serve" basis. I reminded them I was the first buyer, and if the car wasn't filthy, I would've purchased it immediately. They couldn't even to wait even one hour for me. Still no resolution with my truck. I'm still driving a loaner, and my original salesman is no longer there. GM Stephen Smith told me he would call me back -- that was weeks ago, and I've heard nothing since. This whole process has dragged on far too long. I bought a $30K truck that broke down within hours, was promised in writing by the GM that if I wasn't happy after repairs he'd get me out of the vehicle, and yet here I am -- still in a loaner with no answers. Horrible post-purchase communication with Anthony Sands. Seemed too easy buying, but found out why when the truck arrived. The truck wasn't detailed as promised, dog hair, coffee stains, salty road residue still in the fenders and hardly any of the major scratches (through the paint) were disclosed. This would have been a key factor in comparing some of the other trucks I was considering purchasing. Some were attempted to be repaired unprofessionally and made it even worse. The cost to fix these will put this truck hundreds, if not a thousand or more than some of the trucks half the distance from me. Anthony sold me a "ceramic coat." Tried charging $1200 for it, I caved at half to just get the deal done. When I got it, it didn't even feel like it was waxed, let alone coated. When I had the car detailed to how I thought it should have arrived by a professional, he said the truck was never ceramic coated. Worst part is the truck had wheel locks on it, but no lock key. When I tried to get ahold of Anthony he said he tried calling back a couple times. Nothing in my voicemail or missed calls. (This wouldn't be the first time). The kicker is, we had been texting and emailing as well, if he wanted to get ahold of me he could have used multiple approaches, he simply didn't want to. I tried calling both used car managers after he never called me back as promised to rectify the lock issue. I guessed at their email because they weren't calling back from the voicemails I left. I opened up chats on the website and asked for them to call me, nothing. I even called the dealership again, they said they had seen one manager in that day and would hand deliver them a message, nothing. So then I reluctantly emailed (pretty much the only form of communication I knew Anthony would answer) the receipt from drilling out the wheel locks. It's been over two weeks and I haven't seen a penny. There probably aren't a lot of clients that can just float them a $400 loan. Everything on their website says they treat you like family. Bought a vehicle from here July 2024, immediately after purchase take it in to be checked over and the rear differential unit on my "new-to-me" car is out and needs to be replaced. Fast forward a couple months and the transmission starts having issues. Now nine months after purchasing my vehicle from LaFontaine my transmission needs a total replacement. If I wanted to be out $30,000+ I would've bought a brand new car. Extremely disappointed as, no one contacted me to "check up on how I was liking my purchase", and I was reassured that this dealership would never sell a vehicle having issues and every single vehicle before sale was looked over several times. read more

In October 31,2024 I took my 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, which I purchased from Lafontaine Highland in 2021. I was told by an auto shop that there was something wrong with the braking system and I need to take it to the dealership. I took it in received a call a week later stating my vehicle needed a New Engine, because of sludge (What?) I needed to get all oil changes so they could send them over to the Warranty Company. According to the Warranty Company the part that caused the Engine to go bad was not covered under my warranty. The part that failed was totally different than what I was told. My advisor was still in training and the communication between her, and I was terrible. I was told too many different things. Since the cost was not covered, they were asking for $10,000.00 then it went to $13,000 for a rebuilt engine. I contacted Master Radiator, and they said they could put a rebuilt engine in it for $4,400.00. I informed Lafontaine that I was going to come and get the. They wanted to know why? because they had put a lot of time into it. I'm not paying 13,000.00. They asked where I was taking it and I told them, so they called Master Radiator and Lafontaine called me and said we can do it for $5,000.00. So, you went from $10,000.00 to $13,000.00 to $5,000.00 something is not adding up. I talked it over with other mechanics they said go get your vehicle. I went to pick it up and was told I owed $600.00 for diagnostic. I didn't authorize anyone to tare it done and was given that information when I said I was going to pick it up. (Waived) Took the vehicle to Master Radiator did not need an engine. Needed a Brake Pump, spark plugs, and an Engine Flush Exterior and Cabin Filter changed. $946.00 verses $13,000.00 or even $4,000.00 Never going Back!!!!! read more

I wish I could give this dealership 0 stars. In one word - they're awful. Their salespeople (Nicole and James in particular) are unresponsive and unprofessional. In my experience, Nicole gave me a quote on a new car then ghosted me. I had some follow up questions and it was like pulling teeth to get a hold of her. She told me James would call me, I emailed him requesting the same, but he never responded either. I think it was because the quote was incorrect and instead of admitting it or trying to make it right, they thought ignoring the customer was the right thing to do. What a terrible business model. Everyone beware of the "family deal..." like most dysfunctional families, they really treat their customers like they don't matter. They should be ashamed of themselves! read more

BUYER BEWARE! It all started great. The salesperson was helpful, and the facilities were incredible. What dealership has a gift shop and Bistro??!! It is in pricing and paperwork that get you. 1 they automatically add a vehicle prep line to the tune of $1300. When I questioned it, the answer was "We will circle back to that" 2 I requested an extended warranty of 5yr/100,00 miles. Cost $4000 I found an identical vehicle at another dealership that was 10K miles less and $1500 cheaper. After sharing this information with the salesperson. All I got was excuses on how their pricing was fair and that the purchase price was reasonable. "Let me see what I can do" I never got a call back from the salesperson. I heard from other representatives but in the end, nothing changed. I spent the better part of two days with this. What did I do? Hard pass! I purchased an identical vehicle with 10K fewer miles from another dealer and saved $1000 in warranties from the same companies that they were offering. BTW I also got free oil changes for as long as I own the vehicle. If you decide to do business here watch the fine print. You must wonder. If they overcharge you on warranties when they are trying to win your business what will they be like when you need service? read more

I hate Lafontaine in Highland now. After searching all over for a car to meet my specific needs, I finally found one at Highland Lafontaine, or so I thought. I had to buy all new tires for the car before I could even use it. That should've been the first red flag, but I was stubborn because I really wanted this car to workout. Not even a month into ownership I had to return the car to the dealer for repairs to the heating system and the suspension. Lafontaine's repair shop diagnosed the issues and ended up holding onto my car for just under a month (way longer than I expected). Also while in possession of my vehicle the service shop employees left marijuana paraphernalia in my center counsel. They never made amends for it either. They just brushed it under the rug. As a courtesy the dealer provided me with a free loaner. Except their private rental company is ran by mob bosses who call you and threaten you if you don't pay quick enough. When I finally got my vehicle back the service department told me they ended up repairing something completely different than what they originally told me and that it should've fixed the issue. They didn't touch my suspension. About a week after the repair I had to bring the car in again for a check engine light. I asked about the paraphernalia left in my car and was met with skepticism as though I made the whole thing up. Now I finally took the vehicle to 2 other places to get a second and third opinion and lo and behold my car needs a new cam shaft assembly. A repair upwards of $1000. I've spoken to a lawyer and I qualify for the Michigan lemon law act since the car has spent more than 30 days out of use due to service, has had multiple repairs and is still under manufacture warranty. I wish Lafontaine would have made me whole the many, many opportunities I gave them, but they chose not to. read more

I bought my car from there a few years ago. After 2 weeks, the brakes were grinding. They claimed it was lot rot on the brakes. Nope, they were in terrible condition. Ended having everything replaced on the brakes. Now, 2 years later, I had someone rear end me doing less than 5 mph. paint is chipping off the rear bumper. I took it to a couple of places for an insurance claim, they showed me where the back bumper was repainted terribly. The hatch on the back was dented before I had purchased it and used a screw driver to take out the dents and repaint the hatch. Now my insurance doesn't want to have work done on it because of a prior repair done terribly. NEVER GO TO THEM! read more

Absolute worst buying experience I have ever had . I bought a certified pre owned vehicle and added all sorts of warranties . Once the car hit 100k miles, the control module broke completely . The part was on back order from GM . When I called the dealership for help the response "it was good car when we sold it to u, that's not our issue." For monthes I went back and forth with Tasha (used car manger). She told me that she can get the part for me . That made no sense because corporate GM and every parts department in the Metro area told me it was on a nationwide back order for monthes. When I told her to order it , she gave me bs excuses why she couldn't order it She was either lying or didn't know what she was doing. The dealership refused to help me fix the car, sell it or trade it .I lost thousands of dollars on the car and it completely ruined my credit . Do NOT do business with this dealership. They overcharge and set you up to have to pay more money that you should. I needed new sensors which they charged over $800 to do, while on a vacation the sensors on another tire went out but the local mechanic there only charged a little over $200! They tightened the oil cover top so tight that the next time I needed an oil change, it broke! They charged me $89 for a new cover and never wanted to talk about it or accept responsibility for it. I had collision repair work done before and this is not the issue. The issue I have is not the workmanship of the Body shop. It is the loaner that I was promised and the one I got. The day I dropped my Traverse they told me I will get Buick Enclave for a Loaner, the repair on my car will cost approx. $7,000.00 and it will take 3-4 weeks. when I went to pick the Enclave, they told me the Enclave was sold that day and they only have the Encore instead, Well that didn't go well with me. I am an older guy, I have a family and if this is any kind of promotion to their cars, let me tell you, this is one of the cheapest made car I have ever driven. Sticker price on it $27,100. I am not sure who would even consider buying it, for the same price you can Toyota RAV4, Subaru Forester, Mazda CX-5, Honda CRV, Kia Sportage, & many other choices that are bigger and built way better than this piece of plastic. I am stock driving this piece of a junk until my car is done, let us hope it will be done very soon and next time I will make sure to get the loaner they promised me before dropping my car. Last year when I had a loaner from the same place, they called me a week later questioning if I filled the car before turning it in, I had to send a gas receipt to prove the car was filled up before dropping it. ABSOLUTLY AWFUL DEALERSHIP!!!! It may look like a nice dealership on the outside, BUT IT IS NOT. Might as well go to the seedy corner car lot in the hood. You will get the same result. They sold me a lemon car that has needed over $10,000 in repairs since I bought it in April. The car needed service the next day after I bought it. These people are manipulative and do not stand by the cars they sell. My car has been in the shop for over 2 months and a month prior to this. I called this dealership way too many times with no one able to help me and a million voicemails. I had given up and wrote a bad review and suddenly my phone rang within 10 minutes they were returning my call. I figured this could not be due to the review I had just wrote, but it was lol. They finally managed to get on the phone once I posted my review and I know this because Andrew referenced my review half way through the call saying that he hopes I can take down my review once it was resolved. Dropped our vehicle off for several issues, oil change, tire rotation, rear dvd not working, moveable running board hanging up/failing to operate, and a shudder in the drivetrain. We made an appointment 2.5-3 weeks ahead of time. Dropped the vehicle off the night before the appointment. The vehicle sat for 3-3.5 days before even being looked at. I had to call several times to get a status of the repairs, to find out they had not even pulled the vehicle in. Upon escalating my concerns of having an appointment, that was ignored to the service manager, the vehicle was finally pulled in to get the concerns addressed. The service manager agreed there was a transmission issue. He informed us they were 3 weeks behind. I inquired as to why we made an appointment in the first place? He dismissed my question. The "transmission guy" finally drove our vehicle with "the computer" to not find the issue. We were informed that "if the computer doesn't tell them what's wrong, they can't fix the vehicle." Apparently, mechanics have lost their ability to diagnose problems with a vehicle and solely rely on computers now. In the meantime, they had not changed the oil, rotated the tires, addressed the dvd concern or looked at the running board issue. Upon my inquiring why, those repairs were finally started, 4 days into the vehicle being there. Now we were further waiting around for parts due to the dealership waiting to service the remaining concerns. They were, again, unable to diagnose our concerns with the running board. At this point I escalated my concerns up the chain of command within the dealership, only to be laughed at and hung up on. Calls to the General Manager remain unreturned, many days after calling and leaving messages on separate days. Got the vehicle home to find the running board stuck in the down position after being told there was nothing wrong with it by the Service Manager. At this point, we have opened a case with GM since no one at the dealership seems to care about our concerns. Customer service has no value here. Buyer beware. read more

I called to speak w/the Parts Dept & some guy answered very quickly stating hold, then placed me on hold for 23 mins w/out anyone coming back on or periodically checking in to say anything in that time. I hung up & called again, again the same guy answered very quickly stated hold, with out even letting me get a word in after & placed me on hold for 9 mins. I understand it can get busy but felt that if he had periodically came back on to say "I'm sorry we're busy give me a few more mins," would've been more professional. Once he got back on he never stated his name just said "hi what do you need?" I said I had a question that I was wondering if he had any knowledge on. Asked him if I could replace a single Rear Parking Aid Sensor with aftermarket & would it still calibrate & work with the other OEM sensors. His statement was, " now how would I know that? Seriously do u hear what ur asking? How would I know about an aftermarket part? I sell OEM" I said I know I'm just asking if u knew anything about using alternative parts & would they work with OEM? He again said " how would I seriously know this?" I said "okay I was just asking." He then said, " well seriously do u hear what ur asking like really?" I then stated "You are rude in how u answer people how would I know that u would have knowledge about parts all's I was doing was asking a question u could've simply said u weren't sure instead of making me feel like an idiot for even dare asking a question." He then said "No ur rude for asking that kind of question" I then just hung up in disbelief that this place employs such a rude non friendly person. Will never go there or call there for parts ever! I advise u don't either since the have a parts guy that says he only knows how to sell OEM parts doesn't answer questions regarding the parts though! Not only would I not recommend Lafontaine, I wouldn't recommend a Cadillac to anyone. I'm thoroughly disappointed with my vehicle, as well as the service team. My vehicle was in-service for 2 weeks. It was returned to me and immediately, my problems returned. My advisor stated they noticed the problem once, but could not duplicate it. It was in for service for the same thing 2 weeks prior to that. What Lafontaine failed to realize is that I was able to see remotely that my vehicle never moved from it's mapping location. So, unless my car was service from Lafontaine's parking lot, it was not serviced at all. That explains why the problem was immediately detected when I got the car back. I am also not happy that it was returned to me 'dusty' and unwashed. As of last night, my vehicle is now running hot. I took screen shot photos of the dash to prove that. This is a new concern, but may be related to my initial issue. I'm so disgusted with this car AND my experience. When I Googled the 'musty' smell that blows from my vents at start up, it has been an ongoing problem with Cadillacs for years. So, why can't this problem (that is so embarrassing when other occupants are in the car) be fixed? This has been nothing more than a total waste of my time. What gives? read more
